Mondays, she decided, sported a differing location from her previous attempts at interviews. Mondays requested her potential subjects attend in the park on the east side, not terribly far from her flat, where she sported a better view of her surroundings than that of the dismal picnic table and all the walls surrounding it. Here she sat with her notebook laid atop the bench, her pencil idly tracing circles into its margins, while she sipped an earl grey tea from a disposable cup traced with leaf patterns. It's supposed to be environmentally friendly, she thought. So environmentally friendly that the ink is made from pig's arseholes or some such rot.

Prior to setting up camp here, Angel spent a great deal of time whiting out the meeting place listed on her original flyers to include her revised spot, though the absence of anyone's arrival thus far had her wondering if she missed a poster, and someone of interest was now waiting at that forlorn picnic table for a reporter that would never show.

Angel sighed, watching the steam shy away from her exasperation.

She was never any good at the waiting game.

As she spoke to her cup, Angel batted at the recycled fiber side as if to drum up a response. "Oh, come now, someone's got to be out there, vying for a touch of attention. Right?" No answer, not even from the spirits she so firmly believed in. "Well fine, I'll give it another half hour, and if no one shows, bag it."

After dropping her pencil to the table, Angel started on massaging her temples while she made another visual pass around the park, finding nothing more than abandoned equipment and trees dotting the edge of the clearing. Even the street to her right stood entirely devoid of cars or company.

What a dull night, she thought placidly.

Megrez had seen some interesting flyers posted up around town while patrolling. An interview for people with supernatural powers in itself wasn't too intensely jarring, but the fact that the flyer had specifically mentioned "terrorists" caught her attention. What on earth did the poster mean by that? This person was going to get in trouble with some unsavory characters, asking for "terrorists" like that. Such a request was very unusual and merited investigation. Perhaps Megrez could act as a bodyguard for this person if anyone dangerous came about.

She did as the paper instructed and traveled to a park on the east side of town. It wasn't long before she spotted someone at a bench and table with a notebook in tow. Her greeting was cheerful, perhaps a bit too much so. "Hey there! Are you the one waiting for the interviews those flyers are about?" If she was wrong, well, she could hang out with a civilian for a bit, maybe escort her home and make sure no stray youma or Negaverse agents were in her way.

Well look who it is! If it's not Megrez again... And she looks a touch different. Perhaps she got a bit of a boost since we last met. Poor doll, wonder if she slept any since the nightmares started.

"Why yes, yes I am!" She greeted in similar enthusiasm. She indicated for her new arrival to take a seat on the bench opposite her. "I know the arrangements aren't much, and I don't have a terrible lot to offer in terms of refreshments, but it seemed rather necessary to keep it to the necessities given the kind of people I might attract. no offense to you, of course," she added to preempt any objection. "But lacking a name for your kind of people, I had no choice but to go by the press name, and I'm fairly certain 'terrorists' would attract a rather shady sort."

It's a bullocks descriptor, anyway.

Angel seized her pencil and started to chronicle choice information about the appearance of her new guest. While she wrote, she led off with the exchange of simple information and a couple questions. "As you might've already read from the flyer, my name is Angel Aimless. I work for an occult magazine that's rather international, given its online fanbase. We cover a variety of stories, from hauntings to creatures in the woods to people with supernatural abilities. It's quite a lot of fun, for me, to get to the bottom of a mystery - and there's no denying a mystery surrounded by these purported 'terrorists' that shuffle about in the night.

"So to start off, I'll just ask a few simple questions. If you feel the need to elaborate on any of your answers, feel free - I won't interrupt you unless I have to. For now, though, I'd like to hear your side of the story in whole. Afterward, we'll get to the nitty-gritty questions and all the details that come with it. So, for starters, would you mind giving me your name? And secondly, what can you tell me about your life here in Destiny City?" Her pencil stayed at the ready, nearly humming with the anticipation toward jotting down details.

"It's fine, no worries!" Megrez said, waving dismissively. "In the future, instead of terrorists, call us senshi, because that's what we're called. The guys in black suits are Negaverse agents, though. Don't confuse them with us." Taking the cue, she sat down at the bench across from Angel. "Nice to meet you, Angel. That sounds really cool! So I'll be in this magazine after the interview? Sweet. You'll have to send me a copy or a link or something." She realized a bit late that providing her e-mail might accidentally leak her civilian identity. Maybe she should start an e-mail just for senshi contacts?

With a stretch, Megrez began to answer Angel's questions. "Okay, here goes! My name is Super Sailor Megrez, senshi of eggs. Of course, you can just call me Megrez, but that's my full title, rank included. Super means I'm a second-rank senshi. About my life... most of the time, I'm actually an ordinary civilian like you. I can power down whenever I'd like. I go to school, I have hobbies, things like that... I can't reveal my civilian identity though. That's dangerous. Anyway, at night, I power up into my senshi form and patrol around the city. My targets are the weird monsters around the city. Maybe you've heard of them? They're called youma. I also target Negaverse agents."

Here Megrez's expression darkened. "I know the Negaverse knows how to manipulate people into thinking they're the good guys. But we're fighting them for a reason. They're the reason the monsters are around, and they can drain people's energy. In fact, they can yank a person's soul out of their body like it's nothing. I may not have physical proof of these things, but... for the youma part, I've seen at least one general who has a monster with them at almost all times in battle."

"Oh, hoho, don't you worry about any links now. I'm working on getting a physical copy published in the mean time, if my articles should scrounge up enough interest. You see, there's always been this urge to get us really physically published, but that requires quite a lot of work and funds, and quite frankly we hadn't the reader base for that. But that's neither here or there, for the moment, so don't concern yourself too terribly with finding the article." She ran through the gambit while she finished up her notes, not once looking up to make eye contact with her guest for the moment.

Only when she finished transcribing information both previously known and new to her did she stop to venture more questions on the imposing topics that the public may want to hear. "So you're just an ordinary lass beneath all the pomp and circumstance? How intriguing." She paused just long enough to lattice her hands and rest her chin atop the mass of joints. "So really, you're more like... Superheroes. X-Men, or something like that. So, all of these superhuman abilities you sport, can you use them during the day when you're... You?

"Oh, and also - about these 'weird monsters' as you put it... Would you mind giving me more information on those? How does this Negaverse cause monsters to haunt our homes? What's the reason that they're headed about draining energy and spreading monsters and demons around, and why do you lot take it upon yourselves to fight against them? What are the motivations behind either party?

"And more specifically about your abilities, since this is for an occult magazine... What does it mean to be a senshi of eggs? How did you get your name? And what does it mean to have a rank as a senshi?" Most of the questions felt rather rudimentary, but hearing Megrez's side of the senshi war might provide some insight she didn't already have. And in asking about senshi rank... Maybe Angel might score her upgrade story and get the scoop before even confronting her as Astarte.

Megrez frowned (well, pouted) a bit when Angel told her not to worry about finding the article. She wanted to see, dangit! The continued questioning distracted her and snapped her back to attention, though. "Yes, that's right! We are kind of like superheroes in that way. But no, we can't use our powers when we're civilians. That would kind of defeat the point of being 'powered down,' I'd say."

Angel's next volley left Megrez realizing that she probably lacked the knowledge to give a full and comprehensive picture of the war. The little aspects escaped her, like the origin of youma. "I don't really know much about the monsters. I'm pretty sure the Negaverse pulls them out of their headquarters and sets them loose on the town to help them hunt for people, but take that with a grain of salt. As for why the Negaverse spreads monsters around and drains energy... I don't know the full story, but they need people's energy for something, and it's definitely not a good thing. They want to get rid of us Senshi. A Knight- they're allies of the senshi, think same faction but a different class- told me that most Negaverse agents are convinced that the senshi are alien invaders that need to be eliminated to save Earth."

Rehearsing Hvergelmir's explanation nearly made Megrez forget a crucial detail, and she paused for a moment as she retrieved it. "We fight them because Chaos, the force that powers them, is the force that destroyed our home worlds a thousand years ago. We can't let them get strong enough to do the same to Earth."

Her face had gone grim for a moment, but the next section of questions relaxed her. "To be a senshi of eggs... that's kind of a philosophical question, isn't it? But basically, it means I am connected to a distant planet, and my connection to that planet has given me a magic that manifests itself uniquely as eggs. That planet is where I got my name from, and all senshi get their names from their planets. Planet Megrez, named for the star in the Big Dipper it's close to, is my home world. Now, ranks... they're power levels. There are four 'ranks' of senshi: basic, Super, Eternal, and Royal. We all start out as basics when we awaken, and progress to Super and Eternal ranks when the Guardian Cats sense that our starseeds are ready for more power. Royal Senshi are special, though. I don't think they're part of the natural progression in power levels. Like... most senshis top out at Eternal. I've only seen two Royals for our faction and I only know the name of one."

When she finished, Megrez realized that she had introduced more concepts than she had explained. "There's a lot that I need to go into, isn't there... What do you want to hear about first? Homeworlds and past lives, Guardian Cats, or starseeds? Or is there something else I missed?"

"Interesting..." Angel jotted down a few more notes, underlining the word something from Megrez's description on energy draining. "Curious how that all comes about. They go yammering that the Senshi are terrorists of some sort, and they've got the rest of us blind sots believing it too. I wonder if they've not got a corner on the market as far as media goes..."

Angel furrowed her brow a moment, doing her best to look disconcerted. "So you have homeworlds... Yet you're from Earth. Can you explain that one for me?" Astarte is from space, and Angel is from Earth. I inherited Astarte's mantle, took up her cause, and now I'm left with the conundrum of being from two places at once. It's simple enough to resolve, if a bit weird. "And if they're so convinced they're out saving Earth, and you lot are trying to save Earth, then where does this threat to Earth come from? You'd think that a touch of stepping back and looking at the whole might show the lot of you that you're working together."

Angel hummed thoughtfully. "Chaos is one devious force, if it convinces its Negaverse that they're doing right even after destroying however many homeworlds are out there. So - presumably - the Negaverse is gathering up all this energy to destroy the Earth, for whatever reason. Do you know why they destroyed your homeworld, Megrez? Or what they gained from it? If not, a touch of mystery never hurt anyone, especially in the occult venues."

She wrote furiously as Megrez explained all the ranks of senshi and the guardian cats, though it was mostly for show. Yawning, Angel covered her face a moment while a wave of exhaustion hit her. "Sorry, Love - it's not a boring topic, I've just been wanking about too late at night these days. So, a bit more about power levels... What is a starseed, exactly? And these Guardian Cats, are they actually cats? That would give a whole lot of credibility to the imagery of the witch and the cat, I would say. If you'd like, I can explain that one for you and you can see if it matches up a bit with your explanations. Oh, oh, and you've never touched on past lives before, if you wouldn't mind talking about that one for a bit."

"I wonder too," Megrez said, nodding at the implication of the Negaverse's media grip. "They must have some sort of publicity department. If only Order could get one of those..."

"About homeworlds... well, while our current selves are born on Earth, in our past lives we were born on our homeworlds. We reincarnated. Every time we go to our homeworlds, we can see visions of our past lives." Where Angel went after that made Megrez confused. "Working together...? Nnnno? They're trying to corrupt Earth and take it for themselves and make it a haven for Chaos. We can't let that happen. The threat to Earth comes from whatever they're planning to do. The whole 'saving the world from senshi' thing is just propaganda. They're not saving anyone from anything." Her face creased into a thoughtful frown. "I don't know if they seek to destroy Earth so much as take it over. And... no, I don't know how Chaos destroyed my homeworld, or how it even got to there in the first place. I'm pretty sure one of the Royals I mentioned earlier knows how Chaos got to his homeworld, but... I don't know so much about it." All these knowledge gaps were starting to get irksome. She was a Super Senshi. Shouldn't she know these things already? Somehow this lady knew how to ask all the right questions.

Megrez tapped her chin as Angel unleashed another volley of questions. "Oh, no, it's fine. Everyone's been a little tired recently, I think. Must be the weather. Anyway, a starseed is basically the physical manifestation of a soul. They look like little diamond-things. Negaverse agents can eat them, and that's... bad. Obviously. I don't know the exact mechanics of them. Yes, Guardian Cats are actually cats! They have stars on their foreheads that indicate that they're special. They can awaken new senshi, upgrade us, provide us with our senshi phones and henshin pens... they're invaluable to us."

Taking a breath, Megrez shifted a little in her seat to get ready to go on about past lives. "Okay, here's the fun part. Past lives... like I said, we senshi can travel to our homeworlds, and when we do, we get visions of our past lives. They can be in first person, third person, or they can start out as one and turn into another. I've had all three happen to me. My first visions were in first person, and I saw the people of my world from the ruins of this village I had landed in. The next ones were in first and third, and I finally got to see what my past self looked like. She had a uniform almost like mine, but her pants were plaid instead of Faberge-print, and her boots were more practical... I remember her scar the most, though. She had a big one going down the side of her face. I still don't know how she got it when she seems kind of domestic. On my most recent trip, I got to see her spend an entire day souvenir shopping in some resort town." That last bit was something Megrez was still a little sore about. She wanted real details...

"Really? Are you sure about that? Got any proof to back up your statements that the Negaverse is out to ruin the Earth? Seems a touch contradictory to me. Wonder if there's more to it than that... Can't just be that straightforward..." Angel continued to mumble to herself while she jotted down a few more notes that may serve as followup questions to a proper Negaverse agent.

"I hate to be the one to deliver the news, Megrez, but you sound a little scant on the information front. If you don't know what exactly they're planning to do with the earth, and you don't know how they destroyed your homeworld, can you even soundly say that they want to bring harm to earth, or that they actually did destroy your homeworld? Since this subject's such a tricky one, I'm a wee bit shy of publishing without a thorough grasp of all the facts. Do you think you might be able to check these instances for me? I'll try to get ahold of an agent if I can, but it's a bit difficult for me to just show up on your homeworld and go sleuthing for clues on the past crimes of Chaos there."

The presentation of information regarding starseeds prompted Angel to draw an approximation of one and shove the notebook toward Megrez temporarily for confirmation. "Like this?" The object on the paper looked more like a literal diamond, in a pentagonal shape sporting a flat top. Luckily, asking about starseeds gave her some idea of what they might look like; lacking an agent's unique ability to sink hand in chest, she fostered little understanding for their visual characteristics. "So basically these agents are chowing down on human souls. Is that not an act of cannibalism?"

Angel let out a sigh, somewhat playing up shock. "This is a lot of stuff to take in. So we've got all this information... Starseeds, home worlds, senshi, Negaverse, past lives... This is a terribly large lad to publish in any one paper. I'll have to parse through it to see what's particularly valuable... No doubt leave out the starseed and past life bits; doubt some of my readers want to hear how their beliefs in heaven or hell are suddenly obsolete. You ever hear about what happened when Magellan revealed that the earth revolved around the sun? The catholic church about had a coronary! Real horrorshow, that. I'd like to avoid an encore of it, you see.

"So I've got the lot of it jotted down, and the rest in my head. Anything else you'd like to add, Megrez? Or should we call it a wrap while I try to digest that fat pile of infrmation?"

"They take energy from people. How can that be good at all? I don't know what they're using it for, but it can't be good." The energy-stealing alone was horribly flimsy proof that the Negaverse was out to hurt people, but it was all Megrez could think of aside from one other thing: "That and they can drain people to death, or just pluck their starseeds right out of their chest. If you want proof, check the seedier alleys at night. Chances are that there's a Negaverse agent taking advantage of some poor girl. Or guy. Oh, and did I mention that I was nearly killed by a General in my early senshi days? The higher-ups can be really dangerous." The draining-people-to-death was sort of a guess based on what she had been told, but the rest seemed to add up (even though it probably still wasn't enough for real proof).

Megrez frowned when Angel called her out on her lack of concrete information. It kind of hurt, being inexperienced and out of the loop on the hard details. "I'm going to visit my homeworld more, and if I see any visions of what happened to destroy it and I see you again, I'll let you know." When Angel pushed the notebook over to her, she shook her head. "Not a diamond like that. More like... um... an actual diamond. The shape. Not like the gem, the shape. Sorry, I'm not really sure how to explain it. And that's right, the agents are chomping down on souls, or at least the thing that contains them and allows them to reincarnate."

Megrez couldn't help herself when Angel said she might leave out the past life and starseed parts. "But the past life stuff is the coolest part! Can't you at least say that we can go to our homeworlds and see visions?" When asked for parting remarks, Megrez scratched her head. She really didn't have much more aside from what she had told. "If you don't have any more questions, I think it'd be best for you to think everything over. The lowdown on being a senshi is a lot for a senshi to take in, let alone a normal person."

"Yes, well, animals take life from other animals. We're the ones that call it evil or sinful. Animals just think it necessary. To put it plainly, your lot is out to get the Negaverse, right? So it would probably benefit all of you to think poorly on the Negaverse - to shame them, prop up propaganda, or what have you. And the Negaverse is fighting back, or investing in population control, or just showing off their spot in the Magical Food Chain when it comes to pedestrians. If you want to argue that they're bad, love, you have to establish what's good. My readers don't subscribe to the ubiquitous moral code of 'love thy neighbor, murder is bad'. They're Occultists and Setians and Satanists and Atheists and Wiccans and Thelemites and followers of the Golden Dawn. And that's not even an exhaustive list. If you're trying to prove your case, start by tossing out these dreary old morals and start from scratch."

Long had she dealt with explaining the proofs behind metaphysical happenings with scanty hard evidence for their existence, so cases such as establishing the villainy of the Negaverse hardly shocked her anymore. However, Megrez would have to strive to provide more evidences of their abhorrent nature to different belief systems to win over any believers of her audience.

Angel puckered her lips in thought, tapping the butt of her pen against her cheek while she searched for a few wins to toss toward her ally and interviewee. "For example... You could say that the Negaverse disrupts the Natural Order of life by killing people, which would upset the Wiccans at the least. I can't say I'm terribly versed on their practices anymore, but they strike me as quite subscribed to nature above all else. And if you wanted to insult people of my persuasion, Setians, you could say thaaaaat... The Negaverse is undermining the ultimate sacrifice of killing another by committing murder so often and so brashly. The fewer Great Taboos there are to break, the fewer means we have to come into spiritual being as a psyche-oriented soul."

Finally she simply shrugged.

"If you find anything more from visiting your homeworld, give me a ring with all the juicy details. If you don't still have my flyer, I can write down my contact information for you in a flash." She almost committed to writing the lot of it down regardless, but managed to restrain herself with ample effort.

Megrez's fight for homeworld information gave two interesting revelatins to the reporter - one entailed the importance of home planets and the ability to reclaim visions of the past, while the other entailed Megrez's personal passions for this form of travel and interest in seeing it communicated. "Alright, I can add in at least that much. However..." She drew out the last of the word before hastily stealing a breath, "it'd be much easier to work in an explanation of world travel if you could take me along for a glimpse. A trifle, really.

"So how about this... You promise to take me on a trip to your world, and I'll promise to write about world travel and visions. Sound good? I might even spin the Negaverse as an offending force if I'm feeling a touch jovial afterward." Angel stood abruptly and offered her hand to shake on it without even waiting for pause or consideration.

Honestly, Megrez was kind of wowed by the sheer amount of alternate perspectives Angel had to take into account. And she hadn't even been aware that 'Setians' were a thing until this moment. It was a little embarrassing. She wasn't going to argue against the moral issues at all; they were a little too overwhelming for her to face at this moment. "Um, well... I'm pretty sure I still have your flyer, but it wouldn't hurt to have another copy of your information." She brightened up when Angel made her deal, and shook her hand to seal it. "Deal! Next time I find out something cool, I'll try and give you a call. And when you're available and I can go to my planet again- there's kind of a cooldown between visits- I'll let you know so you can come see for yourself what it's like up there."

"No problem, one moment." Hastily Angel scribbled down her information on the corner of her notebook before tearing the piece away, stopping just short of giving it to Megrez as she hastily clarified one of the numbers. Finally she extended the piece of paper toward her with a quick nod. "There you have it. If you find yourself looking for an ear, or if you come up with some proof that the Negaverse is a crock of s**t, give me a ring. I'll take calls at all hours, and my voicemail's empty as a pantry during a famine so fill it up with all the messages you need."

The reporter shuffled her notebook into her purse, dropping the pen in after it. Afterward she turned from the bench and waved over her shoulder while she approached the rim of the street, announcing her leave to the walls and trees around. "Take care, love. No getting killed out there when you haven't taken me for a spin yet, eh?" Laughing, she clasped her hands together as she dreamed the myriad articles she could spin with her earnings.

It was going to be a long night - the good kind, for once.
