It was a beautiful morning, the air was cool and moist, and soft mist covered the lower half of the ground. It was probably a bit earlier than what was conventional, but Asha loved nothing more than getting an early start. She also loved going to bed just after dusk but that was another story entirely. Delicate purple blooms littered the clearing in front of her, it was a small clearing but it had a thicket of fallen branches which served quite nicely as a den for the night. For the little female wolf had no home of her own, she traveled quite often and rarely stayed in one spot for long, this meant using whatever she could find that night for shelter.
A slim cream body hopped up on a fallen log to stretch out, the petite femme lowered her front half, stretching out from her back all the way to little white toes. Asha wasn't the largest wolf of the bunch, she was actually almost slight looking. Height being less than average and body very slim and lithe, she didn't look like much of a threat to a hare let alone another wolf. It worked in her favor, for Asha was not a fighter by any means.
Plopping down on the fallen log, Asha stared thoughtfully out at the small clearing in front of her. Life was full of beauty and wonder so she often liked to just take time to enjoy it. Days could fly by and sometimes you just didn't have the time to enjoy, since she had no particular plans for the day she took the time to do just that.
Sighing happily, eyelids drooped to a close and the happy female began to hum a little tune. It was a song her mother used to sing to her. Asha certainly wasn't blessed with her mother's beautiful voice but when she was alone she liked to try her best. "All the way the river flows~ Through the valley, high then low~" Ashaelia sang ever so quietly, afraid something in the trees around her might overhear and scoff at her. She was singing in Agaphene, a language her mother had spoken fluently and was able to teach her daughter before she'd passed on. Times like these were sometimes hard for Asha, for she missed her parents dearly, but memories kept them alive and she made sure to hold on to her dearest memories possible.

There was something to be said for her solitary journey across Tolas. If it weren't for her concern over her pack, it would be considerably more enjoyable. Oh, she had no doubt that Polum'ya had survived - an arrogant claim, perhaps, but not one she found herself wavering in. After all, it was not unfounded. They were strong. Even if it had been countless centuries since they had been budged from their ancestral packlands, she had little doubt that they could face the dangers of the world. Regardless, she could not help but wish to be reunited with them. After all the months she had spent wandering Telk, followed by the disaster, she wondered how much her people had changed. Had any rejoined the flame? Had there been any new births? New recruits? Changes in position? Even still, she knew that now was when she was needed more than ever. In these times of turmoil and uncertainty, her people should have their kazkar to look to. To make up for her absence, Senka had taken it upon herself to learn as much about these new lands as possible, all the better to advise her dha and dhama once she found them again. She could not say that she was not enjoying learning these things, but she would be much happier about it if she had time to do so at her leisure, rather than under the pressure of such time constraints. Perhaps after Polum'ya was settled, she would take the time to properly explore Tolas. For now, her thoughts were interrupted by the scent of another wolf and the quiet strains of singing. It did not take so very long for her to find the source. A pretty little thing with a coat as pale as hers was dark. Well, now. Wasn't this interesting? If there was one thing she could not resist in these new lands, it was the chance to acquire more knowledge of other languages. Of course, it would be easier if this female spoke Telkish, too, but there was only one way to find out. "That's beautiful. What language is it?"

Creamy ears twitched and Asha stopped suddenly, swinging around to look at whoever had spoken to her. She must have been so absorbed by her singing that her nose and ears had forgotten to work. Both were working now, she could smell the other female and hear her quite clearly. Someday she was going to get herself into trouble like this, luckily there weren't very many miscreants and ne'er-do-wells in the world.
Not wanting to seem rude Asha hopped gracefully down off of her log and went over to greet her new friend. Wagging her tail as a friendly gesture and slightly tilting her head, she replied, "Agaphene." Perhaps it wasn't apparent yet, for she'd only said one word, but Ashaelia's Telkish wasn't quite up to par. Often her speech sounded like a pup that hadn't quite learned all their words, or she'd misplace a word or mess up her vowel sounds. Telkish hadn't been a large part of her upbringing.
Thus far she'd managed, and as she met new people and had more discussions she improved more and more. For the time being she wasn't too concerned, most didn't have a lot of difficulty understanding her.

Interesting. She wagged her tail slightly in reply, then sat down. No need to be on her paws all the time. Particularly not when she spent the majority of every day traveling.
Agaphene, hmm? She wondered whether it was a very difficult language to learn. Not that she would shy away from any difficulty. She relished challenges, after all. Still. She was most curious. "Is it your native tongue?"
Perhaps a trade of some sort could be made. Senka had many tales, and though she usually traded in stories, she would not be adverse to trading in language. Perhaps this stranger would be willing to trade language for language, though there was no way of knowing whether she actually needed any help with her command of Telkish, or even if she was interested.

Asha followed suit, thinking the sitting down to be an invitation. "Oh yes," she agreed. "It was my parents' only language, they thought it quite romantic, singing to each other in Agaphene," she giggled, fondly remembering her parents. It was getting easier every day, remembering their kind souls and how much life they brought to her world.
Knowing it rude not to introduce herself, Asha wagged her tail gently and perked her ears, "I'm Asha, by the way!" Her full name she'd never learned to pronounce in Telkish, so often she'd just give her nickname. Ashaelia probably wasn't all that difficult, she'd just never heard it pronounced before and her parents hadn't known Telkish at all so they'd never told her either. At the end of the day it didn't much matter, she quite enjoyed her nickname and was happy to answer to it.

Now there was something that she had never heard of before - at least, not quite like Asha described. Singing as a form of romance. Most she could think of would probably find it embarrassing. As for her, well, "That sounds lovely."
"I am Senka," she replied in kind, nodding slightly.
"Were they a lone pair, your parents?" she wondered. The lure of a bit of story distracted her from her initial goal, at least for now. Senka had never really known her parents, though she had been raised by Polum'ya - the pack that had found her and taken her in.
