It was a strange land, this Tolas. In some ways, it reminded her of Telk, but in the important ways it was completely alien. This place had vastly diverse landscapes, including some she had never encountered before and had to learn how to adapt to or face the consequences...and she very much doubted that she had traversed even half of the country, yet. But the greatest difference was the people. In principle, they were wolves that one might find anywhere - they loved, they laughed, they lost and were hurt - yet they seemed to have a shared knowledge. It was as though, even if they were not all of one pack, they had a shared custom. A history that linked them all together. There were stories that had spread across parts of Telk, of course, but not like this. Everywhere she went, she seemed to come across one or two stories that everyone knew. Period. The lands were emptier, but the community seemed all the smaller because of it. In sharp contrast, this was also a place of diverse language. Each region seemed to have at least two or three tongues that its people spoke. It was endlessly fascinating. Senka thought she could easily spend her lifetime learning the nuances of each of those languages. As it stood, however, she had a pack to hunt down. Sha had only enough time to learn bits and pieces, though she was pleased to find that she had a knack for picking them up. Perhaps she could learn them properly once Polum'ya was settled. She sighed and stretched, then shook herself out and started off again. This was a vast land. She would not find her pack by lazing about.

Loki limped along, alone for a few precious hours while her family scouted around for a place to settle. She loved them, and appreciated the care and safety they had selflessly given here over the past few months, but she wasn't dead yet! She could still be independent, damnit! Well, she mused, for a bit anyway.
Since fleeing Telk, Loki hadn't yet met any new wolves, and strangely enough, past her family and her neighboring pack - also somewhat family - she hadn't met any wolves from her home, either. The elderly wolf knew that it would happen in time, however, and wondered if maybe today was that day.
She paused for a moment as a yawn overtook her and caused her to instinctively stretch first her front legs, then her back legs. Shaking it off, afterwards, she set off again, humming a tune to herself that she had picked up from her great grandson, Rock.

It was not so very much longer before she heard a sound in the distance. What was that? Singing? Whoever could it be, all the way out here? She was certain that she had not crossed any pack borders - not unless they marked them differently in this strange land, something which she would not completely rule out. Still. This stretch of land did not hold the scent of a pack. Perhaps this was a lone wolf. Perhaps even another like herself, though she would not hold that possibility as high.
Regardless, it was certainly worth investigating. Any wolf could have news or useful information to share. Barring that, a good story was always worth the effort. Seeing as there really was nothing to decide, Senka moved toward the sound of that voice. It was not really off her present course, at any rate.
A few minutes more saw her catch up to the source of the tune. Female. Older - much older, though it would be rude to say as much aloud. She looked surprisingly well, for all that. Perhaps she did have pack somewhere nearby, after all. "Hello," Senka said nonetheless.

Still humming, Loki turned her head to look at the other wolf. Female, in good shape, knows Telkish. Very good. She stopped humming and nodded her head slightly. "Hello, there." she responded with a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. Loki was always happy to meet new wolves. When she was a younger wolf the only thing keeping her from adopting all the lost youths of Telk was that she had a pack of her own to take care of. Now, well, she was still willing to take in anyone who needed help, but it wasn't her pack anymore. She couldn't burden Samhain with more wolves than he could feed. Besides, not to come off as selfish, but wasn't it her turn to be taken care of?
"What sees you out this'a way?" the older female asked, ever curious. Loki hadn't had the chance to get the lay of the land, but her nose still worked well and she hadn't smelled any pack borders in her short travelings this day. It was possible that this other female was just looking around, trying to get an idea of what was out here. It was also possible that this was a Tolas native, which would be interesting - she would love to find out more about this new land from one who had been born and lived here their whole life. But she would find out soon enough, and she awaited the female's answer patiently. Loki, of course, was out here taking a much needed break from her family who sought to watch over her more closely than she would like. But what could you do? At least she knew she was loved.

The she-wolf blinked. It was usually she who asked the first questions, but Senka did not mind turning things around every now and then. It was all the same, in the end, was it not?
"Searching for my pack," she replied. It was, she supposed, the best description of this leg of her journey. At the least, it was her primary goal. "Though I suppose I could say that I am learning the land as I go." And that was just as true. She wanted to have good information to share when she returned. Not just news of Telkish packs that may or may not still exist in this new world.

Hm, well that was good. At least this female had a pack... a place to go home to. That was always a weight off of Loki's shoulders to hear as she never liked to see wolves in trouble, or left wanting. She nodded at the next bit. "Ah, yes. That's what I'm doing out here, learning the lay of the land, trying to see what's around me. It's quite nice so far, and sparsely populated?" she questioned. She hadn't run into anything yet in the way of other wolves or other packs. "You're the first wolf I've run into that I didn't already know." she mused.
Sighing softly, the old she-wolf finally allowed herself to sink carefully to her haunches. She didn't like to sit in the company of those she did not know - not because she feared them, but because she found it quite disrespectful at times. "Old bones grow weary more quickly than you'd think." she admitted, with a good natured smirk.
