What had she done? She'd watched as the page, Mimisbrunnr, had been rushed from the mirror in the gas station bathroom, but only until they had hit the street, then she was disappearing back inside, stepping back through the mirror. They'd feel her when she was gone, know it was safe to power down so they could get the Mercury page the help that she needed. It had been such a dire wound, Navi wasn't sure what could be done, but she really hoped it wasn't too late. That she hadn't just but herself at risk for nothing. Whatever her feelings, whatever she was considering doing, this felt like a turning point from which there was no return. In the heat of battle she had made her choice, and now she wasn't at all sure what she was going to do about it. Or what could be done about it. Now, in a side room in the rec center, the petite ginger couldn't stop shaking. Over the last year she and Chaonis had begun accumulating small comforts and stashing them in secluded, abandoned corners of the building that no one ever ventured to anymore. Blankets, pillows, minor first aid equipment, even non-perishables. There was a throw blanket draped over her shoulders, and she was holding a bloody gauze pad against her neck. Tucked into the corner, legs drawn up, she looked absolutely miserable, exhausted, and lost.

Chaonis was not sure where Navi was hiding, but he felt her aura and he went to go and find her. Usually she came out to meet him whenever they arranged to meet up at the rec center, and this was one of the almost regular days for finding each other and spending some time alone.
He sighed and moved into the building to find her, taking his usual path to their hideaway. It did not take him long to spot her, and his worry hit him like a truck. He saw the bloody towel she was holding and he ran over to her, skidding on his plastic covered knees to her side.
"Navi, what the hell?!" He took over holding the gauze to her neck, as if he could do a better job than she could, though really he wanted to see the injury for himself. It looked bad, a big slice, and it made him furious to see. Someone had hurt her, and he had not been around to stop it.
"What happened? Are you alright? Who did this?"
He hoped that it was not a White Moon senshi, but if it was, he was going to have to battle with his morals and put them to the side. He wanted to hurt whoever was responsible, worse than how they had hurt his Navi. It would just be so much easier for everyone if it was someone on the Chaos side of things, even someone in her court.

She felt it when he arrived, his aura, so familiar to her now she couldn't have picked it out of a crowd of hundreds of other senshi. It made her pulse quicken, and a wave of relief hit with dizzying force, but fear rode on it's coat tails. Fear for him, fear for what she had done, and what it might now mean. The loud curse when he reached her made her flinch, but the dark mirror senshi knew that anger wasn't directed at her. There was no resistance when he took the gauze from her hand, and turned her head carefully so he could see the wound easier. Of course that tugged on torn skin, drawing a hissed wince from the girl that tapered into a controlled, slow breath. It hurt, and she closed her eyes as he looked her over, lips pressing into a thin line as he asked his questions. "There was a big battle at the park. One of the corrupted senshi had sought out a princess from your court, to purify, and some of the Negaverse got wind and tried to stop it." There was a measure of strain in her voice that had less to do with pain, and more to do with the events of the night. She envied the wasp. "Your father was there. I followed him, wanting to help, but we got separated for a while. Someone was hurt, a Mercury page. Mimis...something. Painite got her with that damn spear through the stomach. I tried to help. I attacked Painite, bought them some time to come up with a plan, but when she broke out of my attack she threw her spear at me, and..." She needn't bother stating the obvious. "I got her out though. Her and another, I took them through the mirror, to the hospital. They might be able to save her." She opened her eyes, looking up at him. "There was someone in mirrorspace. Someone strong. They felt me go through, they felt the page and the other order aura with me." Small fingers found his arm, curling tightly into the fabric between protective plastic. Fear shown in hazel eyes, made her voice higher.

"Painite? That damn b***h! She's always hurting people. We need to ******** kill her."
Chaonis' anger flared up immediately, but he was not sure what he was angrier at. Painite, for hurting Navi and apparently some other people, or himself for not being at this big fight and helping to prevent it. He should have been more aware, but he had not been powered up at the time, and did not get the messages about it until it was too late. He had not imagined how much he missed, but hearing from Navi, seeing some of the damage, it had apparently been a big brawl.
He hated missing big brawls. They were sort of his thing.
At least his father had been there, though that did not seem to do too much for Navi's safety. She had still been hurt, though she did say she got separated from him at some point. And it was not really Camelot's job to keep Navi safe, anyway. It was Chaonis', and he knew it.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there," he said, his tone more gentle now as he tended to her injury, frowning softly and focusing on her rather than pointless thoughts of what he might have done had he been there. "You should probably go to the hospital for this... what do you mean? One of the Dark Mirror royals was there when you went in the mirror? Saw you helping the knight?"
He was not really sure how it all worked in the DMC, but he could imagine that was probably not the best thing to be caught doing.

Navi was on board with any plan that resulted in Painite's demise. The general was crazy, strong, and ruthless. If there was anyone the senshi had met thus far that needed killing, it was Painite. She kept hold of his arm, feeling his warmth through the thin material, and the coolness of the plastic that covered it. "They didn't see, but they felt me." She frowned, trying to think how best to explain it. "Mirror space is vast, seemingly endless, but things resonate. Like ripples on a still pond, but faster. Sonar maybe... When we stepped through it created a...a blip." Navi didn't have to have seen the royal to know it was Probably Leto. Of the royals of their court, the camouflage princess spent the most time in the mirror, and if anyone could pick Navi's aura out of a line up, it would be her. "She might not know it was me, or even what was happening. But it'll raise questions." Drawing away from the wall, she slid closer to the senshi of danger until she could lay her brow against his arm, huddling against him as if he were the only shelter from the storm that was becoming her life and mind. And maybe he was. No matter how often she thought about what she wanted and what choices she had to make, it kept coming back to him. For a long moment she was quiet, just holding onto him. Then she sighed, resignation filtering into her voice. "I've been thinking, for a while now, that maybe I'm not on the right side anymore." She hadn't felt herself in months. Weighed down, distracted. She didn't enjoy powering up anymore, she didn't enjoy collecting energy. She hated the mindless violence that came her way. The slung bias. Evil, corrupt, twisted. She was none of those things.

"So lie. Say you were buttering up a senshi to corrupt by helping her knight friend. Or whatever. Don't let them intimidate you, because you're better than that. If they don't understand what happened, that's their deal. You were helping someone, weren't you? That's more important."
He was off on his rant against the establishment and the man, and very nearly missed her when she continued to speak. He was filling in the silence that had followed after she said questions would be raised, all too happy to take a stand against leaders who just did not understand them. He happened to be taking a breath when she spoke up again, though, and whatever thought he had been in the middle of was gone from his head.
For the first time in a long time, he did not know what to say, and for a moment just sat in silence.
"So... I mean... are you thinking about purifying? Can your kind of senshi do that? I know the corrupted ones can but you're... I mean, I don't think I've ever heard of a Dark Mirror doing it. But hey, even if you can't or that's too far, you know I'm going to be on your side, right? Whatever happens, you'll have somewhere safe and someone to trust because. I mean. That's me."
Chaonis was not the most eloquent, most of the time, but he meant what he said.

Maybe she could lie. Fabricate some tail of deceit to weave for her princess-- her best friend--that would explain away why she had been taking a knight through the mirror to safety. She was smart, surely she could come up with some elaborate lie that would cover her a**, at least for a while... Ginger brows creased as Chaonis' rant stopped mid breath, and she let her gaze dip, taking in the scattered bits of the first aid kit she'd riffled through for her gauze pad. It would probably need changing soon, it had been bleeding an awful lot. Distractedly, she reached for one, turning it over and over in her hands. "I don't know." It answered a great many of his questions. "I don't know if we can, I'm not one hundred percent sure it's what I want, but..." The wrapper was torn open, and the pulled the clean pad out and offered it up to him. "I know I can't just keep doing what I'm doing. I can't, it's weighing me down, like a ball and chain locked around my ankle." Pale eyes flicked up, meeting much darker ones. "I could give it all up, just never power up again. I could walk away from all of that." Delicate features crumpled. "But I can't give up you." Whatever else, she needed him. From the very beginning they had had a bond that went beyond reason. As much as they had both tried to rebel against it, they always returned to each other. "I'd like to meet one of your princesses, maybe. If they would agree to it."

Chaonis took the gauze carefully, scooting a bit closer to tend to the injury. He was not squeamish, at least, so he did not mind trying to help. He just hoped his bedside manner was not as terrible as he always assumed it to be, because it mattered right now.
Things used to not matter to him. He could skate through life and not get attached to anything, pretend not to care about anything, but now it was different. Ever since finding her, since knowing her, things had been shifting. He had matured, saw that there were important things in his life. Things he could not help but care about.
He wanted to do his best for her, at all times, which was ridiculous for him. He was so used to avoiding all responsibility.
"I don't want to not see you again... I don't want to lose you, in any of the way too many ways that are possible right now," he carefully removed the old bandage she had given herself to clean the injury and replace the gauze. "I don't really know any Princesses personally... I know a Templar, he could maybe find you one. Or some of my friends might know one. I'll ask around, but I won't say what it's for."
This was their secret, and it would not be found out because of him. He was determined to keep her as safe as he possibly could.

She sat very still as he removed the soiled bandage from her neck and carefully cleaned it. Only the soft hiss of breaths coming too quick gave any indication that she was in pain, but it was tolerable now, something she could distance herself from, because he was there with her. Taking care of her. Her head rested against his chest as he pressed the new bandage into place, and hazel eyes closed. Safe at last, the senshi could finally rest. it had been such a long night, and she felt utterly exhausted. "I'll never leave you," she murmured, delicate fingers trailing over his arm to his wrist, slipping between his fingers so she could bring his hand to her lips, laying soft kisses over the back of his knuckles. "Never, never." A bold promise, foolish even, but she prayed to God she could keep it. Whatever she had to do, whatever it took, she was his. A twitch a smile, weary as it was, at the mention of a Templar. She knew who he meant. "Thank you." Camelot would do all in his power to help her, she knew that. It was still hard to wrap her head around, given their past. Holding his hand to her, she lifted her head, slowly, to look up at him. Her panic subsiding, she could finally worry about the wound. "How bad is my neck?" The gauze laying on the floor near Chaonis' knee was awfully saturated.

Chaonis was very gentle, which was surprising for him. Usually he was rough and tumble and always seemed to be more inclined to breaking things than fixing them. He was known to not have a caring bone in his body, but no one had ever gotten to him quite like Navi had. He could be quiet and caring and gentle, because he felt no fear of her judging him for it. With her, he was himself.
The real him, the one even he did not know fully.
Once he was done cleaning the wound and putting the bandage on, he let Navi rest against him, kissing the top of her head gently and putting his arm around her. He was thinking about all the things he would do to any one who hurt her, and he felt his blood boiling under his skin. He kept his anger in check, though, so she did not start worrying about him doing something stupid on top of everything else.
But oh, was he going to do something stupid.
He let her shift as she needed to, shaking his head slowly.
"I'm no doctor, you know. It looks pretty bad, you should probably have it looked at. But it doesn't look like it's bleeding as much as it was," he could see how much it had been from the other bandage. "But I mean. You don't want it infected or anything like that. Should I take you to the hospital?"

Navi sighed, leaning a little more heavily against his side. She didn't want to leave him, ever, it was getting harder and harder to part from his side at the end of their evenings, and now was certainly no exception. What she wanted, really wanted, was to curl up with the young man and just sleep. Maybe they could sleep forever, find each other in their dreams. Leave this world behind, and create their own. It was a pretty thought. Considering how much it had bled, how much it still was(even if it had slowed some), she likely needed stitches. The thought had features pinching, head turning as much as she was comfortable, to press her face against his chest. The plastic of his armor cool against hot skin. "I think so." And the reluctance was thick in her voice. "Maybe they can minimize how bad it will scar..." She was vain enough to care, though it was second to the other worries and wants plaguing her mind. A beat, then she lifted her head. "Sometimes I dream that I'm waking up with strong arms holding me tightly, your arms." She flashed him a sad little smile.

"Aw, it won't scar. You're too perfect for that. I bet you'll look just as beautiful once this is all healed up and gone."
He kissed her head gently, then moved to catch her lips for a light kiss.
"We can have that, some day. I mean for real. Not just like we have been. I never thought about it before, things like peace or finding a way to get along with everyone... I just wanted all Chaos gone and I didn't care about what that meant. But now... I know better. And I think we can get there, at least for you and me. Come on. Let's get you in these strong arms for right now."
He moved to pick her up carefully. He would take her to the hospital, or at least as close as he could get before he would need to put her down and leave her to power down. He did not want to compromise her further by giving her another mark to count against her as far as her court went.
Some day they would be able to know each other, really know each other, but right now, they just had to make due.
"Alright, comfy? I'm going to take you almost to the hospital, okay? Then you're going to have to walk the rest of the way yourself. Do you think you can do that?" He wasn't going to make her mirror walk or use any more energy than she had to. "I'll find you a safe place to power down."

Pretty to think it wouldn't, but Navi was a smart girl, she knew better. She appreciated the kind lie, regardless, and a soft smile touched her lips seconds before his did. She hummed, savoring the feel of him, before be could draw away again. She wanted it, that life, with him. Maybe the war would go on and on, but if she could have him, if she could get away from the violence and the bias. Navi didn't hate her court, didn't think them evil or corrupt. Chaos, but separate. It was not the Dark Mirror she was running away from, not really. As strong arms lifted her she put a hand to her neck, holding the makeshift bandage in place, least it get jostled on the way to the hospital. It felt good in his arms, safe, and she let loose a soft sigh as she rested her head against his shoulder "If you can get me close I can make it the rest of the way." Navi was hurt, but she could walk at least as far as a block. The wound was a constant ache, and she'd lost enough blood that her head swam a little, even as he'd lifted her, but she could manage. Delicate though she appeared, she was stronger than she looked. "It might be a few days before I'll be able to come back." She didn't want him to worry. Not more than he already would.
