Daniel sniffed the air, enjoying the gentle breeze that rustled through the quiet valley. He hadn't been doing... much... today; he'd woken up, wandered over to the calm little stream for a drink, grazed a bit... and... now... he was looking for something- or someone- to do.
Or. He stopped, tilting his head and considering that last statement... ah, yes, someone to interact with. He grinned. Shaking his head, he dismissed the line of thought, frowning slightly as he could scent no one on the breeze. Turning the other way, his gaze combed over the little meadow, and he frowned lightly, wondering if he'd have to go off searching for someone. Ugh!

Thus rather fretful, he rolled his eyes towards the sky- brilliant blue, only a few clouds here and there, altogether a very nice day despite the slight chill of night still lingering in the air. Just, somewhat BORING without anyone around.
It wasn't that he, himself, was without fun- he could entertain himself, if he was so inclined, or get lost deep in thought- but on a sunny day like this, he'd rather share it with someone. Spread around the charm, so to speak. Brighten the day of another.
Determined to find Someone, he went back to looking around.

Ohh, come on.... I can't be the only one awake, can I?
It was about 6am, by the two-legged's method of telling time, or just after sunrise for those who did not associate numbers with the sun's position in the sky. And he already felt like the day was part wasted.

Kaira had been enjoying a lovely sleep, curled up on a spot of very soft grass, and enjoying peaceful dreams from when she had been a foal. It had been about a game she used to play with her mother and grandfather, and it always left her in a good mood. As she woke, her eyes opened slowly, and she didn't move for a long moment, just staring at the sky, enjoying the last streaks of color from the sunrise. She was loath to get up, really... She was warm enough, comfortable, and basking in the happy mood from that dream. Really, the only reason she DID, eventually, move was because her stomach started demanding it be filled.

With a sigh, she carefully heaved herself up, stretching her muscles and limbs as she went. She stretched her wings last, letting the sun catch the silvery grey colors, which she loved to do. It always made them glitter and glow, and she felt like, for a moment, her wings were made of pretty quartz crystals. After the stretch was over, she moved to a spot with good grazing, unaware that anyone was close enough to see her, or possibly her little 'light show' with her wings.

A flicker of light caught his attention, and he moved a few paces forward to see it better. It was odd, for something to be shining so from roughly ground-level- much too brilliant a display for even the most shimmering of jewelry crafted by the two-leggeds, and- his brows jerked up as the light seemed to reflect and refract like a gorgeous prismatic... fan?
Head tilting slightly, he continued to move forwards, drawn forwards like a moth to the proverbial flame.
And then the display was over, and he saw... a mare, all shades of silver and grey, with great wings, moving off towards the grass.

He grinned, mildly surprised, and then grinned at finding someone who was awake- even if she had just gotten up.
He paused for a moment, considering that she might appreciate a few moments to gather herself... but, then, had he not just witnessed her morning ritual, and had she not headed off to her breakfast in a public place where others might surely wander? She would certainly not have any expectation of privacy, and besides... he wanted to compliment her.

Decision thus made, he strode confidently forward, a light and merry light shining in his eyes and playing off his good-natured expression.
"Hello!"He called when he was close enough, merry voice with rich undertones booming out loud in the quiet morning. He didn't mean to startle her; he was just genuinely enthused about their encounter. "Lovely day, isn't it? My name is Daniel and I must say: your wings are quite stunning." He wasn't exactly one to wait for a response before moving on.
After all, who wouldn't want to chat so early in the morning?

She threw her head all the way up, and turned to face him, eyes wide with surprise and wings flared. Some one was near? She froze for a moment, then relaxed, and smiled, his words processing through her brain, and the fact that he seemed normal enough being what she could see of him. Well well, some one admiring her wings? She was always pleased when people liked them. Her morning light show was her favorite part, because sometimes... sometimes she wished they were colorful like her mother's.

"Hello there. I am Kaira, and I am flattered by your words." She gave a friendly nod of her head, her wings relaxing back against her. "And indeed, it is a beautiful day. The sun is shining, it's not too hot, and the breeze is gentle. How could it be anything but?" She giggled, suddenly, for a moment, reminded of how her grandfather, occasionally, could be a total grump at this time of the morning, and how he'd MUCH prefer to be let be until he was awake on his own. Or at least, when she was little, that was the case. Perhaps now that she wasn't little and trying to get him up to go play, or to go explore explore explore! he might be less grumpy. "What brings you into this part of the land?" She decided to add, thinking it might distract him from the giggle... In the hopes of not accidentally offending her new found companion.

She only had one disappointment... This definitely wasn't her father.

He nodded in return to her name, storing it away like many other facts and little tidbits of information for later use. Kaira, the winged one. The one whose wings shown like beams of light filtered through a gorgeous fog.
As she tucked her wings against her side, his attention turned towards the rest of her- a quick appraisal, not meant to be rude and yet rather bold nonetheless. Though he might be assessing her to any others, in truth he was merely making more little notes- in case he saw her with winds folded, and needed her name to be triggered by some other feature.

Ah... she was quite... large.
He blinked, wondering if her stature was a familial trait as he stretched his neck up and arched it becomingly, making the most of his own size. He was not exactly a small stallion, but he had met many others who had towered over him- beasts, they were!- and now here was this mare whom he met at almost exactly eye-level.
"The weather is kind."He admitted, his thought interrupted by her giggle. His grin grew ever-broader, and his eyes danced as he looked once more towards her face.
"Oh, I travel, for it improved the odds of finding others who are up and about as early as I." It wasn't that he didn't like seeing the same faced, it was just... sometimes it was nice to talk to someone new. "Yourself? .. I like your laugh." He added it with a twinkle in his eye and a soft wink, to show her that he wasn't teasing- and yet, he had never thought that a wink could be taken as so much more.
He meant well, for all his rather over-the-top demeanor.

She studied the regular in front of her, noticing his long curly mane and tail, and watched the way he moved, even as he mostly stood still. The small motions, after all, told as much about a person as the large, and helped her learn who she was dealing with. The way he looked her over, a bold one he was... But was it overly bold? She'd have to wait and see! It's not like she was worried about it, in her full size form she was definitely the larger of the two, and if she needed, well she could escape by shrinking down as well!

As he spoke, she tilted her head, her long mane brushing her hooves as she did so. She smiled at his reaction to her giggle, glad to see he was not offended. She did so dislike to offend a new acquaintance right off the bat! "Ahhh meeting new friends is always a worthy goal, indeed. And if you're an early riser, I can see why you might wish to search for others who are... Most soquili I am familiar with prefer to sleep in for at least an hour or two more." She tilted her head, blushing slightly at his wink, for it surprised her, especially with his compliment. "Why thank you, you are most kind. As for myself, well. I am also searching. However, my search is... more specific. I wish to find and meet my father, for I have never known him. My mother has told me enough to know that it is not his fault... He did not know I had come to be... So I thought it would be good for him to learn of me, and for me to learn about him, more then what mother can tell me." Her words were spoken with a warm depth, and a hint of eager hopefullness.

He stood proudly for her inspection, not quite placid although entirely willing to let her look as long as she liked; he had done much the same, and after all he had nothing to be ashamed home.
Watching as she tilted her head, he smiled in amusement. One of the things he liked most about meeting new people was all the new little quirks they had- though this movement might be rather common to show puzzlement or thoughtfulness, the way her long mane brushed her hooves was uniquely... hers.

Or, at least, out of all those he had met thus far.

His smile grew as she smiled back; yes, he liked it when everyone was happy.

Pondering her words for a while before responding, a touch of a frown caused his smile to lower slightly (though it did not disappear completely).
"I shouldn't see why; the day starts when the sun rises, it seems odd to me to wait any longer; though I suppose, to each their own." Oh, he'd admit that some preferred sleeping in for reasons all their own- maybe it was too cold,or they'd stayed awake too much the night before, or whatever, but to him... it would always be a little puzzle. He woke naturally, just before dawn, no matter what time of year.
One eyebrow quirked upwards as the mare seemed to blush slightly, though he could barely see the touch of color on her cheeks. He was always... good, at catching those little moods.
"You're most welcome."

His eyes drifted skywards as he thought about her next revelation.
It seemed... sad... that she had never known her father, though not all were worth knowing. That she looked for him, that she did not blame the stallion for seeming to abandon them- how could one betray what one does not know even exists?- he nodded to himself as if to confirm some inner conclusion.
The warmth in her voice, and that little hopeful thread, would have been enough to decide him alone
"I wish you luck in your search; if ever you need a travel companion, do let me know." Now, he was being sincere, but he also knew that many Soquili simply didn't take a comment like that seriously; after all, travel with a stranger? But most, at last, would enjoy a walk for some time, 'til they parted ways amicably. He never really seemed to stay long, and though others did not exactly chase him off they didn't typically beg him to stay either. Friends, nothing more; such was his way.
But, then... did she even know where to start?

"Have you any idea of his favored terrain?"

She found his proud stance interesting, but a pleasing thing. Some who were bold enough to give a person a full look over got uncomfortable when it was done to them... A rather hypocritical way to be, in her mind. And he seemed to be such a cheerful person, it made her relax a bit more. She was not so foolish as to assume he was safe, just yet, but she was beginning to think she would not need worry about him.

His comment on not understanding others who rose later interested her and she straightened her head, but gazed at the sky for a moment, gathering her words. "It is something I can understand, though I am not, myself, prone to it. I prefer to be up with enough time to have my... morning light show. However, when I was younger, my grandfather would, sometimes, be watching over me while Mother went to deal with other things... I would tire him out wanting to play, and then he'd want extra rest because he'd BEEN so tired, and busy... And mother, sometimes, liked to stay up late, to see the stars... So she wanted more sleep. I... Figure it's just a quirk of one's personality, really." She gave a little shrug of her wings, rather then her shoulders.

At his offer, her eyes widened, and she studied him curiously. She had not expected that, not at all. It was generous, and more then, and he had just barely met her! What an unusual fellow he was, that was certain. She pondered his words, then finally said "That offer is incredibly kind. I may well take you up on it, for it does get lonely traveling on my own." She paused, and sighed a little at his question. "No, not really. Mother knew where she had met him, and knew of a few soquili who KNEW him in that area... But most of them are gone, now, and the one she said she spoke to most about it..." She frowned, remembering what her mother had said. "She told me that she spoke to an Angeni, who told her he had left with a large group, to go... to go to a place with hot springs. Mother said the angeni mentioned they'd headed west and somewhat north. Beyond that... I do not know."

He considered her words in turn, showing her the respect he assumed all would give him in turn. He grinned at her admission of enjoying her 'morning light show'; an apt name, truly. One might think he had a grin plastered constantly on his face, but it was a genuine expression of joy and other lighter emotions- he never held a smile longer than it was warranted, never faked an expression he was no prone to. He just.... smiled, a lot.
It was good to be happy.

"You've made some good points."That a line of thinking did not come naturally to him did not make it beyond understanding, even if he did express himself such at times. Sometimes it was just.... easier, to see things that way.
"Ah, yes, one must respect one's elders and the needs of an aging form for rest and realization." Age wasn't an insult to him, nor was admitting when one needed extra sleep, it was merely a matter of life. A natural thing, and so it could be discussed without trepidation.

He nodded in response, completely unperturbed by the idea of tagging along with a stranger. He usually didn't stay long, and in any case perhaps he could help.
He had no other plans for the day.

"Hot... springs? West and North?" Her information may have been terribly out of date- after all, who could know if he'd still be there after all these years?- and yet such a pleasurable place would surely envelop the less-adventurous of sorts.
"Then I shall, should you wish, a day perhaps or more. I know not of these hot springs; are they quite high in mountains, do you think?" He knew west, though, and of course he knew north....
How hard could it be?

Please feel free to say something to distract him if you don't wish him to join her or anything of the sort, he tends to latch onto something and get ideas into his poofy head (Daniel: CURLY >C ) *ignore* and I can't really do much to sway him. xd

"I think, now that he doesn't have a young filly trying to keep him up at all hours to play, he's getting more rest." She laughed softly, remembering how energetic she was, as a youngling. "Honestly, sometimes I wonder that mother AND grandfather were able to keep up with me, I was... a very energetic child. Mother used to tease me that I never wanted to sleep, because 'Mummy there's another game we could play! Or I think I see something over there to explore!' were the words I spoke anytime she tried to put me to bed." She shrugged, and shook her head in an amused way. "I hope, should I ever have children, that the universe doesn't decide that turnabout is fair play..."

She paused, and scrunched up her face, like she was trying to remember something else. "Ooo wait I know mum said there was one bit more... what was it..." She stamped a hoof as she tried to jog her memory, then, with that classic OH RIGHT expression of dawning memory, she beamed at him. "Oh yes, THAT's it. Mum mentioned that my father had told HER he might be moving to a new place to settle and stay... So at least maybe I have a chance of finding that place." She nodded, and sighed. "I have no idea why on earth he wanted to find the springs, but maybe he'll tell me when I find him." Her attitude said 'I have decided to assume I will, so I don't give up hope.' "And that would be lovely! I plan to head farther west in the next week... I was thinking I might make for the coast, and follow it for a while... Since that sort of limits how west I can go."

Huroggmeten
Pfeh traveling companions are always welcome! I don't mind at all. She'd be happy to have some one with her for as long as he chose to stay.

He shared her mirth, though he did not laugh until she shared her childhood traits. Though he was sure the older stallion must miss this bright little star, he could see how one would value rest above most else when they were old. "Love." He stated it simply. Love made equines deal with things they would have never willingly put up with- or signed up for- from any other, and the love of a parent.... yes, that was special, indeed. Invigorating, exhausting, and yet somehow all the more rewarding because of it all... or, so he presumed.
He'd never given much thought to having kids, even though he'd thought of how he might handle parenthood itself. Yet, he tended to deal with things like that in pieces- a parent, without a child. It didn't seem at all strange, when one had a mind like his.
"Perhaps you would smile fondly, and not mind at all; though I could not presume to know your actions, it seems that a quiet or sad foal is just... heart-breaking."

Well, that answered that un-asked question!
He grinned at her plan, wanting to get started right away that they might succeed- and, yet, the hour was early still.
He looked about.

"Have you... eaten, this morning?" That counted as Delicate Phrasing, for him. As he had stumbled upon her morning ritual, perhaps she had not had the chance to complete it?

Lady Aria Starstone
Alright. xD! ADVENTURE HOOOOOO~
PostPosted: Sun Sep 21, 2014 11:22 pm

"Well... at least if they're quiet for the wrong reasons. Shy foals might be quiet, after all, and there's naught wrong with that!" She shrugged, not understanding being shy, but knowing some had it. Her grandfather claimed he was shy, but she never saw that side of him, since he'd known her all her life. "Otherwise, I'd agree. Foals should, on the whole, be able to be happy and generally carefree!" She pranced a little in place, laughing at the thought. "And love surely is the answer, I just wonder at where the energy comes from. Love is powerful, but it's... not a source of energy that I know of. And I hope I would be such a good parent."

At his question, she blinked, then let out a joyful laugh, at herself, for having gotten so caught up that she'd forgotten! "Ah! No, not as yet. You appeared just before I'd begun to graze, and I got so caught up in the pleasure of talking to you that I forgot all about it!" She continued to laugh for a moment, shaking her head at herself. "I should do so, and of course, you're more then welcome to join me... I'd hate to be rude and eat in front of you."

He nodded once more, eying the mare appreciatively for her words. Quite the philosophical encounter this was turning out to be- he smiled. What a day!
Watching her prance, he shifted a little, feeling the need to exercise and yet uncertain if he'd like to copy her movements; they would be moving soon enough.
"Adrenaline?" he hazarded, fully aware that many had spent many moons- and perhaps even their entire lives- wondering at the origin of such an emotion, and yet feeling much more firmly rooted in the daily occurrences of such a thing- the simplest explanations for a complex and timeless vision. "You seem to remember what it was like to be young, so I should think it would be easy to relate and yet act from the mature standpoint adulthood has lent you." That's all it took... right?

He grinned at her laughter; he quite liked the sound.
Well... though he had grazed before, he was a trim figure and could stand to munch a little more should it make her more comfortable and filling herself.
"I could eat."

Lady Aria Starstone
PostPosted: Mon Sep 22, 2014 7:25 pm

"Adrenaline... Hmmm I could definitely see that as part of it." She tapped a hoof in a thoughtful fashion, and nodded. "But I doubt it's all of it, or else surely folks would be suffering from tension issues all the time! I mean, I know when I get all hyped up on adrenaline, I tend to also get tense and stressed... So it must be a mix of things. But who can, truly, say?" She nodded again, and then ponders his second statement. "Possibly... But what if the memories are less fresh when I were to have a child? But who knows. What comes will come."

"Oh good, I wouldn't want to be rude!" She gave him a relieved, and grateful, smile, before lowering her head to the grass. It was wonderful, and just as sweet as she had thought it might be when she'd selected this patch. It obviously had good soil, or something like that.

Daniel grazed peacefully while she spoke, listening to her thoughts and watching as her hoof tapped the ground as if meting out the rhythm to her inner workings. "Well. Doesn't being with one you love relief the tension and stress?" He frowned. "As long as it's a healthy relationship, that is." He frowned a bit deeper, ceasing his munching to gaze up at the sky. He wasn't much of a philosopher.
He found that he quite liked that last little bit she'd said.
"Well, certainly not I!"Grinning, he admitted inwardly to feeling a bit of relief at that; as though a little buzzing thing in the corner of his mind was quelled by that one admission, and he could go on with his business without twisting his brain over it.

He watched her briefly out of the corner of his eyes, smiling a bit to himself; he was glad that his eating could make her comfortable enough to partake in something she so clearly desired.
"Revisiting the memories in any quiet moment one may catch with young foals around could help them to keep their poignancy? Though- quiet moments." He laughed at himself; he really wasn't doing very well with thought today, for he'd been trying to reassure her and had probably just added another heap to her worries. "Mayhap you should learn to parse your attention and play the fond memories in the back of your mind while dealing with whatever is at hand." Split focus. Yeah. As if it wasn't an insult to both things, to divide attention and possibly do neither one as thoroughly as either deserved.
... at least he'd tried?
