Weekends! They were the favorite favorite time of week for every college student across the nation (probably), and Glitnir was no exception. In his case, however, he favored it because it meant he could patrol without having to worry about getting up early for class (though sleeping through breakfast kind of sucked). Sure, maybe he should take a Friday night off for a drink or two with his buddies sometime, but his priorities were a bit different right now. He needed to get some experience and mastery over his role as a Knight, and that meant going out and looking for people who could share their experiences with him. However, instead of other Knights or any senshi, all he had encountered so far were some scattered youma and those two weird lieutenants. He was feeling sure that an encounter with a Negaverse lieutenant who wasn't so bizarre was coming up, so he wanted to prepare. Thankfully, that encounter had not come tonight yet. Instead, Glitnir felt a strong Order aura off in the distance. Working under the assumption that anyone who was stronger than him presumably had more experience than him, he decided to seek out the source of the aura. "Hey, who's there?" he called out, hoping that whoever was there could actually hear him.

Sarras wasn't too thrilled with how the night was shaping up already, and he thought it was rather telling that there wasn't a single Chaos aura in the area when he powered up. Did they somehow know he was coming and fled for their lives? Were they still reeling from the mess that Castor and Pollux left in the warehouse, thus the feel of any Order aura sent them fleeing? Part of him had hoped their actions would have been enough to chase out the darkness, but he wasn't stupid. That wasn't going to happen, and that likely wasn't their intention. Not that he knew what their intention was, but he couldn't blame any creature of Chaos from fleeing at the sight of them... he wanted to keep as far away from that bag of crazy cats as possible.
Which, given his preference to doing patrols alone, was just fine with him. He wasn't necessarily hunting down all Chaos aura, only a single one, but it seemed he was no where to be found. That general was certainly great at playing hide and seek, but Sarras knew himself to be a patient man. A hunter would have to have some degree of patience, especially when stalking an illusive prey... and this Buddingtonite was about as illusive as they came, apparently.
He was ready to take his hunt elsewhere when he felt another Order aura approaching him, and he did nothing to hide how annoyed he was at this feat. It was moving in at a brisk pace, meaning that it wasn't just someone meandering in his general direction but heading straight for him. And while not as terrifying as, say, countless Chaos auras doing the same, he found himself rolling his eyes. Probably a newbie that was excited to get advice from what they perceived to be a veteran.
He was in for a world of disappointment, then.
When the page called out, Sarras debating on not answering, but he could not fight his curiosity. He peered down at the page from atop the rooftop, and was momentarily frozen. Red, Spartan in attire. A Mars page, just like Pigfarts. He managed to get a hold of himself before he could get carried away, though, and without really knowing why, he called down to him. "Not so loud, unless you want trouble finding you."

It took Glitnir a moment to realize that the voice was coming from above him. Looking up, he saw a man in some rather curious attire. Then again, Glitnir was in some curious attire himself, so who was he to judge? He wanted to take the Squire's advice and pipe down a bit, but there was something puzzling going on, and he was going to need to speak up to make sure he was heard. "How'd you get up there?" He could quiet down once he figured out how the Squire got on the rooftop, or once he came down to Glitnir's level.

Sarras figured he had to be new, as it took him entirely too long to spot him. If he was a Negaverse agent, this new page would have certainly been blindsided by now, and Sarras almost wanted to prove a point about it. However, the thought came and went without action, as he motioned for Glitnir to join him so that they weren't shouting in the streets. "I jumped. You can do the same too. Get up here."
Because like hell he was going to go down on his level when it was safer to remain elevated. Not to mention less damaging to his pride. The Mars page might not have had much to be ashamed of, but the Cosmos squire wanted as few people to see him as possible.
"Just jump, or climb, if you don't think you'd make it."

He jumped? That's it? Okay, then. Glitnir decided to take a chance on the Squire's instructions, mindful of the possibility that he was being messed with and about to be tricked into splatting himself into the side of a building. He took a few steps back, and after a running start, jumped. He was absolutely not expecting to suddenly be able to practically shoot up into the air. "Whoawhoawhoa!" His jump arced perfectly onto the rooftop, but his landing was less than graceful, to say the least. He stumbled forward from the momentum and fell flat on his face. "Ow..." Grumbling under his breath, he rubbed his face and looked up at the Squire. "Uh, well, at least I made it?" He pulled himself to standing and fiddled with his hair a bit, as though he had somehow gotten dust in it from his landing. Chuckling sheepishly, he introduced himself. "Anyway, now that we're on the same level... I'm Glitnir, Page of Mars. And you are? Another Knight, right?" He hoped he was right. It would be so, so embarrassing if he was wrong about finding another Knight.

Sarras watched, his face stoic and for the moment, completely void of thought or emotion and thus likely making him hard for others to read. Why was he like this? He wasn't sure, but that strong sense of stoicness was lost when he watched the Mars page attempt to jump up to his level, and just like that, his mask broke into a wide and genuine smile. Maybe it was wrong of him to laugh at another man's misfortune, but he'd be damned if he didn't get some enjoyment out of it.
"Yeah, you did, though your landin' could use some work there. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it soon enough," Sarras said, considering helping him up but letting him do it on his own so that he could salvage his own pride. There were few things more important to another human being as their own pride and like hell he wanted to be pushed away for trying to help. So, he kept his distance for now, taking in his fellow knight's appearance and unable to fight down the sense of envy within him. He just had rotten luck... "Nice to meet you, Glitnir. Sarras, Squire of the Cosmos. So what brings you to this part of town?"

If he was being laughed at in secret, Glitnir didn't really care. If he were watching his landing, he would probably laugh, too. "Yeah, I sure hope so. I bet the next botched landing might screw up more than just my face." He extended his hand for a handshake. "Nice to meet you, Sarras. As for what I'm doing out here, just patrolling. Nothing's really come up tonight. I was wondering if everyone just stayed in for a drink with their buddies or something, but that doesn't explain where the youma went." Unless the youma had bars and weekend parties of their own, but from what he had seen of youma so far, that was highly unlikely. "It's kind of feast and famine, isn't it?"

Whoever this Mars page was, he at least had a good head on his shoulders and didn't seem aware of how Sarras was silently laughing at him, nor was he aware that Sarras may have picked this location to be left to his own devices. The whole 'nice to meet you' thing was more of a habitual formality than truth, and he figured at least getting his name couldn't have been a bad thing. Now that he got his name and his designation, however, he was more than happy to end it there, but it seemed that Glitnir was blissfully unaware.
"Yeah," Sarras said, not really listening to the words the Mars page was blabbering on about. Something about a botched landing and face, and his mind wondered for a second. He was more focused on the aura sensing than the conversation at hand, but thus far there were no auras that screamed Negaverse general. Which made him very, very irritable. Glitnir said something about a drink and once again his gaze was upon the Mars page, and he hoped the irritation wasn't too evident in his voice, even if it would have given him the peace he desired. "Not a clue where the youma went, and honestly I don't care. As cliche as the sayin' goes, I got bigger fish to fry."
A general, in fact, that had continued to remain illusive. Maybe he needed to venture further out, and he looked Glitnir over as he carried on, inching further and further away by the second. Maybe, if he was lucky, he could just sneak away, but he had a feeling it would not have been that easy. "Right. Or maybe we killed them all? That'd be nice..."

Now that he was a bit steadier, Glitnir was getting the feeling that this guy was kind of sharp in a cranky way. He didn't seem terribly interested in what he was saying, though like he said... "Bigger fish to fry, huh? Looking for someone or something?" He figured that he probably wouldn't be able to help Sarras in his search, but it wouldn't hurt to at least volunteer to help. Two heads investigating were better than one, after all.

In hindsight, Sarras had made a huge mistake in ever allowing this page to spot him, as it become abundantly clear that he wouldn't be getting rid of him any time soon. He wondered just how blunt he would have to be to get him out of his hair, but he refrained from being flat out rude about it. It wasn't Glitnir's fault that he was a jaded, grumpy and vengeful person, he reminded himself.
Glitnir immediately gained points of respect, however, when he appeared genuinely interested in his plight. Sarras was a very personal person, or so he thought himself to be, but he wasn't going to leave Glitnir empty-handed as far as details of his personal quest went.
Who knew? Maybe Glitnir could actually help? He gave the Mars page a look over and immediately retracted that idea, but still, being proven wrong couldn't have hurt his own chances. "Yep. Lookin' for a Negaverse general. Buddingtonite. Him and another senshi, a White Mooner named Leda, killed someone rather important to me, maybe even responsible for another death in our family. I plan on finding him and killin' the ever livin' s**t out of him. Have you seen him as of late or got any good intel on him?"

"Buddingtonite... I'll keep that name in mind. I'm afraid I haven't had any run-ins with Negaverse generals, though. Only weird lieutenants who either don't seem to want to do their job or aren't a threat." Glitnir wasn't entirely sure what to think of the 'killin' the ever livin' s**t out of him' part, but since this man seemed to be responsible for the death of someone close to Sarras, a little desire for revenge didn't seem totally unwarranted. Something else caught his attention, however. "A White Moon senshi helped a Negaverse general kill someone? What's up with that? That's either an amazingly shitty senshi or a corruption in the making." It might have sounded a little judgmental, but really, what was a senshi (White Moon, at that) doing helping a Negaverse general? "Right, well, shitty senshi aside, I'll keep an eye out and an ear out. Maybe even see what I can fish out of the less committed lieutenants." Why did "shitty senshi" have such a good ring to it? Damnation.

"Probably for the best, then, at least until you've figured s**t out first," Sarras said, not at all surprised to hear of Glitnir's lack of exposure to the darker parts of their enemy, though surprised to know that lieutenants were just as clueless to this whole war as half of them were. It angered him, to know that there were so many others that were just pulled into this war without a clue of what to expect, though he knew he had little to no right to speak. At least now he had a purpose, two of them though only one he pursued, like the selfish a*****e that he knew himself to be. ******** the Code, he thought... all he wanted was revenge.
"More like shitty senshi, I think." Sarras couldn't believe he was speaking in Leda's defense, and yet there was no point in lying. "If anything, the civilian they killed was caught in the crossfires and she failed miserably in protecting . She allowed herself to grab the general, well, captain at the time, and then allowed Victoria to fall to her death. So, I repeat, really shitty senshi."
That didn't mean he would spare her life the second time they met, however, he told himself, and he offered what Glitnir hoped would have been a genuine smile when the page offered to help. It felt good for someone to offer such a thing instead of chide him on holding such a grudge when there were 'bigger' things to worry about, and maybe that was why he opened up to the page. "I appreciate it. You're already leaps and bounds better than the rest of 'em. If I don't have to see that lot again, or that Code, then my life would be all the better."

"I got a tutorial of sorts from the first Knight I met. It's been helpful for figuring stuff out, but of course nothing beats actual experience." Glitnir listened and nodded as Sarras explained the situation with the senshi. "So she prioritized taking out the general- er, the captain over protecting the civilian... Victoria, I think you said? I guess I can see why she'd do that, unless doing so would have flagrantly endangered Victoria. If the civilian was dangling over the edge or something, she should have tried to protect her first. That is kind of a tough call to make, though, especially if going to save the civilian means getting attacked by the captain and possibly losing the civilian anyway." He knew nothing more about the situation than what he was being told, but there were multiple ways to look at it even from what he had been told. Glitnir pursed his lips when Sarras mentioned the Code, trying to remember what part of Babylon's tutorial had mentioned it. "The Code... it's like that force that guides us Knights, or something? I should look into that." There was a lot to look into.

Sarras offered few words as the Mars page spoke of another knight that tutored him at some point or another, though he offered a silent bob of the head to acknowledge and agree with his sentiment. Actual experience trumped verbal tutorials every time. What was written on paper sometimes made absolutely no sense until it was applied in person, and by then what was told could mean absolutely nothing. In time, Glitnir would come to realize this, and since he was already on the right track, the Cosmos squire had little reason to push it onto him. Someone else could play the protective tutor to the younger generation... Sarras wasn't game for that.
He held onto his silence, even as Glitnir spoke and unintentionally probed for details about Victoria, and the was an edge to his voice when Sarras finally spoke up. "She ******** up, and now it's something she has to carry with her for the rest of her life. At least I hope she does. I hope that guilt weighs her down and crushes her..."
He wished the same for Mistral, but considering the Code seemed to favor her decision and felt the sacrifices were necessary, he had a feeling that it was a fruitless endeavor. He knew hatred was toxic, and if he had to chose which of his grudges he'd allow to poison him, better it be his hatred for Buddingtonite, than Mistral. "Do so, then, if you want. I don't give two shits about the Code, nor how it favors sacrifice over human lives. Just be careful if it ever asks you to do something, or if Mercury pages ask you to go on a quest. If you don't end up dead, physically, you'll be equally dead emotionally."
He couldn't lie to himself. He hated the Code, he hated Mistral... he hated a lot of things right now.

When Sarras mentioned his hopes for Leda being crushed by her guilt, Glitnir frowned a bit at the thought. While it would be a fitting and likely outcome, that sort of pain could drive a person to do terrible things to themselves. That senshi's future road would be a hard one, for sure. "The Code favors sacrifice? It sounds like you're talking from experience." A feeling of trepidation crept over him; he wasn't sure if he wanted to pry or not, and Sarras's apparent distrust of Mercury Pages clashed with Glitnir's trust of Babylon. "I... I guess I won't pry much further than that. It sounds like you've been through a lot. I think I'd have to see for myself what the Code can do before I can make a decision on it." He cast a cursory look over his shoulder, as though the Code could just sneak up behind him and go "Boo!" "I think it's about time I started heading back... thanks for letting me chat you up. I'll keep an eye out for your General and your senshi."
