For the most part of the day Zascha had spent the majority of his time in the Moon Hunter lounge. It was relatively quiet and hardly any one had come through. Being stuck in his room all day when there wasn't much to do was making him feel a bit claustrophobic.

Of course, if he wasn't here at Deus he'd probably be having a small celebration at his old home with his sisters. As it was his birthday after all. But now...now it honestly held no real appeal for him. He had a few friends here sure, but not enough to warrant any plans to go out or any celebrating of the sort. Not that he was big into his own birthday to begin with.

So he had resorted to wearing regular clothes for the day. A pair of distressed blue jeans, black boots and a dark blue short sleeved shirt with an owl wearing a crown design on the front, the text in a banner beneath it reading 'Gott mit Uns'. It was German for 'God with Us'. Not that he was religious, no. He just liked the shirt.

He was flipping through a magazine he had found laying around. A Sports Illustrated to be precise. Zascha was clearly reading it only for the articles.

He had been content to just finish off the day reading, grab what he could make into a reasonable dinner from the cafeteria and then go to bed. An uneventful day, but it was a welcome thing here at Deus. At least for him. Uneventful lead to not being almost killed.

When he had decided to get up from the couch he was sitting on his phone in his pocket alerted to a text. "So much for relaxing." It was probably another mission text or something. Someone that needed a nasty lab room cleaned perhaps.

It wasn't until he saw it was Harlow that he raised an eyebrow a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. She must have been out on a mission today, the girl had been awfully quiet and absent for the most part. "So much for relaxing." He repeated.

Zascha shot off a reply text. Slipping his phone back into his pocket, he tossed the magazine on a nearby table. It would probably be gone by the time he got back, not that it mattered. It wasn't his originally so the owner would probably pick it up once they saw it. Running his fingers through shaggy brown hair, he lingered in the lounge for a few more minutes before finally stepping out into the hallway where he figured she'd be waiting.

The excitement in her voice threw him off guard for a moment. She seemed really happy about something. Or perhaps it was nothing and Harlow was just in a really good mood. Even still he shot her a brief suspicious look before he found himself with her arms thrown about him in a hug.

Yea, something was up. Normally by this time he was getting poked by a finger or elbowed in the side.

He hugged her back of course, cause that's what you did when a pretty girl flung herself at you. When she pulled back, he kept one arm around her waist. Scratching at his cheek thoughtfully with the other hand. "I was just going to head to the cafeteria for food actually." Mind reader. But that was how they'd met in the first place, over food. And he was hungry after all so why not. It was nice to have some company at least.

"Move fast to where?" What other plans than the cafeteria could one have on the island? Its not like there was much around. The town was still in shambles so he was pretty certain there wasn't much there to be had. Vending machines were out of the question. Honestly he didn't trust how long some of those things had probably been in there.

Zascha would rather not tempt fate.

In the end he pretty much just let her drag him down the hallway. Still clueless as to her plans but curious none the less. It wasn't that hard to keep up with her fast pace, he probably would have stepped on her heels if she'd walked any slower.

Now they were going outside. He hadn't expected a trip outside.

It always surprised him that for all the fog that tended to plague the island, the sky around Deus always put on a show when the sun was rising or setting. Half the time it was drab and grey. But it was those rare moments that were the best to catch. It filled him with a feeling of....what was it comfort? Maybe. Zascha felt on edge most of the time anymore.

He cocked an eyebrow at the blanket and the basket. But when she referred to his as birthday boy it lifted both eyebrows. "Sneaky girl." Zascha couldn't help but smirk just a bit as he sat down on the edge of the blanket and removed his boots.

Settling his boots off to the side, at a safe and comfortable distance just in case he needed to slip them back in a hurry, he turned on the blanket and crossed his own legs. "Then I guess you are in the right division if that's the case."

He smiled as she slid the food from the containers to the plates, chuckling lightly as she referred to their 'date thing' as a thing. Taking the offered cider, twisting the top off with his forearm. She was nervous, he could tell. "It looks great. Who'd you bribe to get it?" If she had an in on the food circuit that flowed in to the island he certainly would like to know.

"Ahhh, yea." Green eyes darted off to the side briefly as he rubbed at the back of his neck. "I guess I just forgot." He hadn't but he didn't make a big fuss about it. Birthdays were just like any other day to him.

"Good. I'm glad you are starting to feel like you are fitting in." It was an honest statement. He didn't want her to feel down or upset about the whole thing.

He grabbed a fork and knife, cutting into his steak. Zascha knew what it was like to struggle finding that niche or the beginning of a niche. He was still figuring out his own part in the Moon division. There was a lot to really think about and sooner or later he'd have to figure out what he wanted to focus his work time on.

For now he was just testing the waters here and there.

"I don't like the sound of that something worse." Shoving a piece of steak into his mouth he waved his fork at her. "I'm not sure I like these people you are paying. They sound kind of shady."

He shrugged lightly. On and off he was busy but there wasn't anything that was consuming his entire attention and time. "A little bit." Zascha had finished off half the steak by now. "If you say so." He poked lightly at the remaining steak on his plate. Not trying to be a debby downer but it wasn't easy for him to get excited about his own birthday. Even before Deus it was always his sisters that were excited about it more than him. He'd placate them of course but that was a normal thing.

"Its better than what some are doing. Or not doing." He supposed. Although he had yet to find anyone who was really slacking off on the island. But he was sure he'd run across someone somewhere. Oh but wait he was kind of slacking off today. s**t. Talk about pot and the kettle. Well tomorrow was a brand new day.

Eyeballing her, he squinted lightly. "Mhmm. Sure. Just don't get carried away and write a check your butt can't cash ok?"

Of course at the mention of him not being hungry well, that just wasn't true. He was but eating and talking at the same time well he didn't want to be rude. "No way I'm starving. Look at me, shriveling up like a super model. I better stay away from any open windows or cracks in the floor." Zascha pretty much shoved the rest of the food in his mouth, hindering any real further conversation for a minute or two.

When she grabbed his face though it took him by surprise. But he couldn't help crack a smile. She was trying really hard he could tell and he wasn't helping the situation. So he'd bury it all down for her. "Heeeey! I'm not that old thank you. Twenty-four isn't even a quarter of a century yet." He waved his fork at her again, still holding it even though there wasn't anything on his plate.
