Personality: Ai is quite independent, desiring above all to rely on no one else's strength but her own. This partially developed from the natural influences of the powers of Garnet in her blood, and partially from her extensive training in the martial arts. Ai prefers to be protector rather than protected. In this way, she lends her service to the gemstones as a physical enforcer during battles.
She is still a bit confused about her sexuality. At this point, she understands that while she finds women more attractive in her waking mind, her dreams are still of dark, strange men who know exactly how she likes to be touched and how to bring her blood to a boil. This frustration tends to pool and leak out around the edges occasionally. When others around her are in love or are speaking of love, she finds herself extremely uncomfortable.
Gruff, impolite, and impulsive, Ai is often not pleasant to be friends with. However, once her loyalty is won it never wavers. Despite whatever disagreements or arguments she may have with the other gemstones on her team, she will always come to their aide at great cost to herself if need be.
Personal History: Two loving parents raised Ai in a home dedicated to strict rituals of respect and honor. Her mother, a beautiful perfumier from India, and her father, a busy Japanese salaryman, lent their fierce beauty and intense personalities to Ai. Her childhood with her orderly parents was rather nondescript until she began martial arts training in her early teens.
It was almost as though she had been destined to be a good fighter. She picked up every skill she learned quickly. Seeing her potential, her family enrolled her in a local boxing stable for girls. Years of harsh training and a sharp-tongued master named Mrs. Sugar hardened Ai into a force not to be reckoned with.
Now a high-schooler, she's prized for her athletics. Her school, Gyousei Academy, is an elite private academy for gifted and wealthy students. Ai was granted a full scholarship in return for her participation on many of the school's athletic teams. She doesn't really fit in, and tends to skip many classes to go outside and smoke or pick up fights with yankee boys from neighboring schools. Her tardiness is overlooked, however, as the school is listed amongst Japan's top athletic performers almost solely thanks to Ai's participation.
