Yuki was, as she usually is, excited for fall. Fall was one of her favorite seasons because the colors got better for fashion, she could wear her favorite things without dying of heat or freezing her tail off. The small Japanese girl tucked herself into her oversized sweater and leggings, added boots, grabbed her purse and was out the door to get coffee, a bagel and just spend the day doing anything she could out of her apartment. Why? It was cool, it smelled amazing and people seemed to be in a better mood in the fall. Never mind her knees still ached from the latest battle she'd been in with some stupid long haired Corrupt. She was going to kick his a** soon. Then she'd feel even better. As it were, she turned a corner and headed into one of her favorite coffee shops, hoping to see pumpkin spice on their menu.

Kekipi hurt. He was convinced that even his hair hurt. Stupid White Moon senshi and her stupid prejudices! Grumbling under his breath, he fidgeted a little as he stood in line for a coffee. Not that he wanted coffee right now, but thank to Fall's arrival, there'd be hot apple cider. And that, frankly, sounded perfect to him.
Tugging a little to pull the sleeve of his shirt over the bruises on his arm, Kekipi glanced around and noted a tiny asian girl coming in. She was cute, he thought, in a pale, gothic sort of way. Straightening a little, he brushed a hand over his dredlocks and offered the girl a smile.
"Mornin'," he said cheerfully.Saint Sergio I am sorry for being a slowpoke fail!

It wasn't like she tried to look gothic (most of the time), it just sort of happened because she knew black went with her skin and hair effortlessly. She glanced up once she heard a voice, and then up some more because he seemed to be a lot taller than her. Huh. He was certainly bright. "Good morning," she replied after a moment. Making friends wasn't something the serious woman did, but she needed them. She realized all to well she had nothing to look forward to besides the weather and fashion in fall and wanted to finally change that. "...If you haven't tried it, the pumpkin spice latte is one of the better of the fall items." That's how you made conversation, right?

Blinking a little, Kekipi smiled at the recommendation.
"I'm not normally a coffee person, but I'm up for trying something new. And speaking of, it would appear to be my turn."
Still smiling, he turned to the counter to give his order and for the hell of it, ordered a small pumpkin spice to go with his apple cider. Once he paid and had his drinks handed over, he stepped out of the girl's way and sniffed experimentally at the latte. Smelled nice. He took a ginger sip and felt his eyes widen. It was good. Like warm pumpkin pie.
"Miss, whatever you're getting, I'm paying for it. This is great and I believe in returning favors."
Giving her what he hoped was a stern glare that would warn against arguing, he leaned against the counter and gave the amused barista his card.
"I'm going to stand here and make sure that you don't try to be sneaky," he said, tangerine eyes glinting with mischief. Sure it might seem creepy, but it wasn't like he could or would try to slip a roofie into her coffee. He was just being friendly.

She nodded a little and just waited as he ordered, looking over the board with their selection. She was fairly sure she knew what she was getting. Yuki was good at thinking of these things a head of time to help things speed along. But she had no real goal today, so maybe looking wouldn't be so bad. Then the man in front of her spoke and those dark eyes honed in on his face and she felt her cheeks warming up as a protest bubbled in her throat. Oh, why not just let him. So, instead of saying no thank you, she just said, "That's... very kind. Thank you," and proceeded to order a huge pumpkin spice latte for herself because who didn't like lattes? She put her bag back down, having picked it up so she could pay and just reached out for the latte when it was slid across the counter. The blush didn't leave her cheeks as she brought it to her lips and moved out of the line so he could pay. She would linger because... now she didn't know what to do. No one's bought her coffee like this before. "...Thank you again," she said with a smile pulling at her lips. This one wasn't faked like most of her others. She was pleased. "Did... you want to sit..?" Isn't that what you were supposed to do? Offer to drink your coffee with someone and have a nice conversation. That's what she'd seen in those movies she watched sometimes, the romantic ones. This wasn't a romantic situation, granted, and he might have to rush off, so there was that. She was prepared for that answer.

Okay, so she was even cuter when she blushed. Still smiling, Kekipi pocketed his card when the barista handed it back and tilted his head a little as she thanked him and asked if he wanted to sit.
"How about a walk instead? I'm afraid I tripped over my neighbor's cat last night and landed wrong, so sitting is kind of not the best idea right now."
Well, that was a blatant lie. But since he couldn't exactly tell her the truth, it would work.
"I have to be at work in about half an hour," he continued smoothly. "But if you don't mind a leisurely walk accompanied by a hobbling dude?"
He kind of hoped that she wouldn't mind. In spite of the chill it was nice outside. Perfect walking weather.

She hid her confusion when he suggested a walk. At least he didn't say no flat out. Then he clarified and she let out a noise of agreement before slowly sipping on her latte again. "Walking is probably better anyway. It's going to get crowded in here pretty soon.." "Hobbling?" She looked up at that and let her head tilt. "...Are you alright? If you are hobbling you should..." And she stopped there and shook her head. "I'm sorry. That was rude of me. We do haven't even exchanged names. ...I'm Yuki. Yuki Hisakawa."

Juggling both his drinks, Kekipi grinned agreeably and made a tiny, half-bow.
"Kekipi Ikaika, but most everyone calls me Kip. Pleasure to meet you, Yuki and you're not rude. It's a legit question."
Chuckling, he moved for the door, pushing it open with his shoulder and holding it there so that she could exit.
"I really am all right. I bruised my tailbone when I fell, so I'm just a bit sore and stiff is all. So a walk should do me good, no?"
Once outside, he inhaled sharply through his nose and sighed. He was not a fan of cold, but he had to admit that Autumn smelled awesome.

So she wasn't the only one with an unusual name here. She arched a brow at that and was just trying to guess where he was from. She should probably just ask, but Yuki didn't know enough social etiquette to know if that was rude or not. Then he said he fell, and Yuki shook her head, bangs falling into her eyes as she followed Kip, moving out the door first and then waited for him, shivering a tad bit at the first blast of the cooler air. She hadn't realized how warm it was inside. "...It may help. ...So, Kip? Are you from here originally?" She rolled her coffee container in her hands before taking a sip, not knowing what else to do as she slowly took a few steps forward.

Chugging down half of his cider, Kekipi rolled his shoulders in a lazy shrug.
"Wish I could say I was, but nah. Born in Hawaii. We moved here when I was just a little kid, so I don't remember a whole lot."
Okay, so he actually didn't remember at all. But that was hardly a topic for polite conversation. He looked hawaiian. The new name he'd been given was hawaiian. So for all intents and purposes, that was where he was from.
Stupid secret identities. Stupid lost memories.
Sigh.
Cocking his head to watch Yuki, he smiled and arched an eyebrow.
"How about you? You from here?"

"My family came over from Japan right before I was born, so.. I am, yes." Thus why she had no accent. The small girl just shrugged a little more. "..I've visited Japan many times, lived there for over two years, but I came back because this place is better suited for me." Not true. She had a mission here. Japan is where her heart was. It was more orderly, calming, structured, everything she liked. Oh sure, it had it's fair share of troubles, but she still preferred it there. "Either way. ere I am and here I'll stay for the foreseeable future."

"Japan, huh?" Kekipi replied. Well, that would explain the odd formality that she carried herself with. "Always wanted to visit there and have a look around. I'd probably make a pretty big idiot out of myself though since all I have for reference are a lot of dirty cartoons and Godzilla movies."
With another shrug, he finished what was left of his cider before tossing the empty cup into a nearby trashcan. Then, it was time to work on his pumpkin latte. Damn, this was good stuff.
After a moment's thought, he decided to take a bit of a risk. So far Yuki hadn't seemed terribly annoyed by him. And she was awfully cute. Why not?
"Foreseeable future, huh? In that case, maybe I could make you dinner one night? I promise I'm a pretty good cook. I won't like... poison you by accident or anything."

Her brows raised. Dirty cartoons? Well, that was one aspect she never looked into and never wanted to look into. Yuki just rolled her eyes a little bit and tapped her fingers on her cup. "The Japanese people are mainly respectful as long as you are respectful to them. They try to be accommodating, at least up front. I'm not going to say it is without it's flaws, but.." She shrugged a little and let her lips purse a little bit more. Then she was asked out do dinner and Yuki blinked, not having expected that at all. Tilting her head, she looked at him and then laughed a little at him. Well, he was cute and he had a sense of humor she didn't have to fake laugh to. She honestly enjoyed it. "....I wouldn't mind taking you up on that. ..I warn you, I might not be able to stay out of the kitchen.. I.. like watching people cook."

Squirming a little under the look she gave him, Kekipi managed an apologetic smile and a shrug.
"It was late, I was fairly drunk and it was what was on TV at the time. It was hilarious and uncomfortable rolled up in one brightly colored package."
Going silent for a minute, he felt himself blushing a little, thought he hoped that if she noticed, she would just think it was the walk and the chill air adding the extra color to his face. Rather than try to explain further he listened, nodding in understanding. Sounded about right. Play nice with the other children and ask before you touch.
Still, he had to grin a bit when she laughed and took him up on his invitation.
"If you stay in the kitchen, chances are good I'll put you to work," he said agreeably. "I'm not one of those wound up types who freaks out at sharing kitchen space. Give me a general idea of things you enjoy, any food allergies, all that fun stuff. I'd hate to have to rush you to the hospital because something I made sent you into anaphylactic shock."

Yuki didn't notice his blush of embarrassment, just thinking he was cold and they should probably hurry up and go somewhere. If he couldn't handle the fall weather, he was going to suffer in the winter. Slowly but surely she was finishing her coffee, savoring it so she didn't have to buy a second on before she went home. "I see. Quite the learning experience for you, then. Don't get drunk and just randomly watch television. Put in a movie." She was teasing him again, a lilt to her voice that matched the way her lips were starting to curl upwards. Then the mention of putting her to work in the kitchen and she just shook her head firmly. "Not unless you want burnt carrots and mushy rice." Despite her utter love of watching cooking shows, watching people cook, she was horrible. She was lucky if she didn't burn a microwaved breakfast by following the instructions. It was her time to flush in embarrassment. At this day and age it seemed everyone cooked and then you had her. "Unless you want me to order take out. I'm really good at that."
