Daliu smiled at her self-appointed 'knight' and newly gained traveling companion. True enough he had merely offered to escort her home, but she had little interest in returning their straight away. Surely an adventure would be better, or at least more entertaining?
"Thane." She murmured with a faint smile. "Are you in a great rush to return home?"

Quote: Thane raised his eyebrows, a little surprised the direction the conversation had taken. "Well Cato will be expecting me back eventually... but hurry? It wouldn't seem." A small grin crept onto his maw, almost mischievously. "Why do you ask Miss Daliu?"

Daliu gave him a quick glance that was little more than an innocent flash of light-blue eyes, ducking her head to hide her grin. She could tell the question had surprised him, but his answer at least gave her hope.
"Yes, I am sure that Cato would expect that you would return -eventually-..." She answered lightly, fighting the urge to laugh. "I was thinking that it would be a shame to bring our journey to an end so soon... I would much prefer an adventure or two, before we say farewell..."

Quote: Thane pretended to mull that over in thought, looking up at the skies, wearing a happy but inquisitive expression. "Adventure, hm? Well I don't think could begrudge me adventure. What did you have in mind my lady?" He cast a look down at her, brights a light and dancing with amusement.

Daliu watched him consider the matter, glancing at him and then back to the path as they made their way through the forest. The trees grew close and curving, threatening to block out the sun or moon as the branches twined together over the path and formed a "roof" under which they walked. The surroundings were peaceful and lovely enough, but she longed to see 'elsewhere'.
"I am not sure... Certainly nothing so dangerous as tugging a Kalona's tail or frisking about in Skinwalker territory..." She offered in amusement. "I would like to visit the sea, or travel to the mountains... Speaking to the horses of the waves or the strange Unicorn-cousins... Any number of things would suffice."

Quote: Thane raised his eyebrows, a little surprised the direction the conversation had taken.Thane nodded along with her pondering, pursing his lips in thought at her suggestions. "You are certainly the dreamer Daliu. Have you never traveled before?" Truly, Thane had only make the trek between the sea to the mountains that blocked the entrance to the desert. An idea began to bloom before him, and he suddenly knew exactly where he wanted to take Daliu. A grin split his in excitement.

Daliu paced along in silence for a moment or two, letting her words sink in as they trekked along. She wasn't sure if her star-painted companion would agree to her request or not, but she was rather hopeful for the outcome and open to any counter-offers he might be inclined to make. After all, she was quite sure he had seen things that she had not, and if he wished to share such things with her, she was more than willing to see what secrets the world held.
"I have been told thus by several who have crossed my path." She agreed with a dainty smile and a nod. "I have traveled some, though mainly through the forest and flat-lands... I have been into the hills and danced in the shadows of the mountains, even venturing into the lower valleys to pass time with my friends... But I have not yet been into the high peaks where the snow holds sway and your breath frosts autumn-cool even in late spring... "
She trailed off with a gentle shrug. He had already called her a dreamer, and she would not want to carry on in a manner that was unflattering... But she did wish to see such things. "But if you have no time for such wanderings, that is well enough. I will find may way there sooner or later."
She gave him a coolly challenging look. "Now whether or not it is with such fine company, well, that remains to be seen... But I get along well enough on my own, when there is a need."

Thane chortled, his shoulders shaking. "I think you should write lyrical ballads, Miss Daliu. You have quite the talent for weaving words in addition to your... 'poetic' dreams." His grin fell back into place, every present on his expression. Continuing to look ahead, he was silently calculating how long their trek would be with out her ability to fly... He'd never made a journey that he didn't utilize his wings; it was going to be an interesting challenge.
"Miss Daliu, have you ever been to the desert?" He asked, glancing his eyes down at the purple mare. She didn't have the coloring of someone from there; as neither did he; and she didn't mention having been there before in your eloquent sonnet of her previous travels. "I've been meaning to visit, to get something for my friend at any rate. Would you like to accompany me?"
While making his request, than had brushed his wings against the foilage to his right, making the insects come alive with noise and chatter. Some fireflys made their appearance again, flitting about his wings to add a beautiful glow to his presence that he was completely unaware of. "I would understand," he continued after a heart beat, "if you wouldn't like such harsh conditions though. And the travel would take a time." This wasn't going to be like a stroll through the willow forest of his best friend's territory; no. And there were sure to be interesting folk in the desert from the culture Cato had spoke of previously... made he would even meet his and Kalidasa's old herd? The idea intrigued him more than anything.

At his words Daliu allowed herself a small smile, trying to imagine what her family (adopted and otherwise) might thing of such advise. Her parents probably wouldn't mind, though this news of her sharing her dreams so boldly might surprise Whistle... Surely Kel would be shocked and perhaps a little hurt... He was the wordsmith and story-weaver of the Fayths... Still, perhaps he would not begrudge his adopted sister the chance to dabble in the art. After all, there were some who seemed to think she had the talent for it. 'Which I shall be sure to blame on Kel the next time I see him, if only to watch his face.' She noted to herself with a crinkling of her eyes and a muted laugh.
"I am flattered you think my words so fine that I might spin a ballad of them." She murmured. "It was my understanding that mist and moonlight are hardly substantial enough to spin into thread... But if the words do bind you so easily, perhaps I shall spin them in greater numbers in the future... So that I can be sure that no matter how far you might drift, I would have a way to draw you back to me once more."
She gave him a glimmering look and then turned her attention back to their path for a few moments. His question caught her attention just as it began to drift into dreaming, a somewhat confused look flickering behind her blue eyes. "The desert? No... I cannot say I have ever trekked to where the sand burns like the sun and trees dare not to grow. I have heard stories of golden sand as immense as the ocean, but not seen it for myself."
Based on appearance she wouldn't have guessed him to be one to hail from or frequently visit the desert. Then again, with such a wide open expanse, the stars must be quite glorious... And she could easily imagine his gold-touched hooves fleeting across golden sand. Daliu shook her head faintly to erase the image and gave him a wide, delighted smile. "I am flattered you would invite me, and would be glad indeed to accompany you on this exotic journey."
Her words seemed to escape her as she watched the fireflies bolt out of their hiding places and dance about him like intrigued little stars. Between them and the sound of cricket song, she certainly couldn't escape the obvious. 'He is a most handsome stallion...'
With a delicate cough and a smile from behind the flowing curtain of her mane, Daliu nodded her understanding. "I am sure it will be quite a trial of sorts... But the reward waiting on the end is compelling indeed. Yes Thane, I would deeply like to go with you."
