Yawning heavily the young cub rolled over onto her back, squirming and rolling as she tried to get that particularly itchy spot right between her shoulder blades. Finally satisfied that the itch was gone she flopped on to her side and lifted her head, puffing out a breath to blow her braid out of her eyes. She needed a distraction, and pouncing her mother's tail wasn't a challenge any more. She had tried to find something living to chase but it seemed all the little critters had learned to stay well away from the den as she hadn't been able to scare up as much as a frog, let alone something bigger... "Hey Käle!" Stretching out one front leg she aimed a swipe at her sibling, hoping to catch his attention. "Wana play?" Not that she really had any intention of letting him say no, she was bored and wanted to do something!

Käle grinned with entirely too many teeth at his sister's invitation to play. Of course he wanted to play. He always wanted to play. Except with Asoiaf. She was kind of scary sometimes. But Svana wasn't like that.
"Ja," he agreed. "Let's be reavers. And...let's say we're supposed to bring back some herdbeasts for the pride, ja?"
He was already way, way too into this whole scenario he had come up with, and there was no way he was going to stop talking until he'd told her the whole of his brilliant plan. "Only instead of using herdbeasts, we have to use people, and try to get them to go where we want them to, without talking to them."
He'd already gotten in trouble for trying to herd actual herdbeasts, which is how he'd learned that sometimes thralls were allowed to boss freeborn around. That hadn't been a very fun lesson, and it had made him somewhat suspicious of the family thrall, Txuratan, whose status and ability to give orders was uncomfortably ambiguous when it came to Käle and his siblings.

Returning his grin with a toothy smirk of her own she rolled to her paws. She could always count on her brother for some fun! Aiming another swipe at him, this time at his shoulder and from a much closer distance, she grinned wickedly. "Of course Reavers!" After all, what else were they gonna pretend to be? Well, they had tried Captain v Reaver but since it always disintegrated into an argument over who would be the Captain, she had given up trying that game with Kale. She usually picked other cubs for that now.
Nodding as he explained the new version of their game she grinned again, barring pearly white fangs in pleasure. "We need to find thralls" She decided, since even she could work out that trying their game on reavers would only get them yelled at again. And likely the other freeborn would yell too... So, Thralls.
Looking at Kale for confirmation before she darted forwards, buffering him with her shoulder playfully. "Let's go! Where would be best...." She asked, half to him and half to herself, already trotting purposely away from the family den, forgetting to check to see if Txuratan was around.

The fire-eyed cub glowered at his sister, trying to look ferocious as he evaded her swipe. He didn't hold the glower for very long though. They were both going to be reavers. It was hard to be unhappy with that prospect before him. So now the tips of his canine teeth showed in a faint grin.
"Thralls?" Käle was momentarily slow on the uptake. Hadn't he just decided they were going to be bringing back herdbeasts for the pride? Oh, wait. "Ja, right. Thralls!"
Though it might be more interesting to see if they could herd freeborn. Interesting in a "probably going to earn them a talking to" kind of way. One of da's blustery ones or ma's quietly disappointed ones? Käle didn't care for either, and if sticking to thralls meant he'd get to avoid that, he was fine with it.
"Um...maybe below the stronghold? Not quite in the herds' fields, but near them," he suggested. There're usually thralls there, right? Gathering planty things for healers and crafters."

Pausing she looked back over her shoulder, grinning widely again. "Ya Perfect!" There were bound to be a lot of thralls down there, and also... if they happened to corral a real herdbeast by accident... well, it wouldn't be their fault would it?
Barely waiting for him to join her she then bolted away from the den, headed towards the lower fields. Hopefully there wouldn't be any real reavers around there either, as they tended to stop the more fun games. Of course she loved to watch the big reavers training, but as yet they wouldn't let her join in. No doubt the huge lions would soon, she just had to grow a bit first. But she was impatient. She wanted to fight now.
Drawing close to the herd fields she slowed and slunk down behind a large rock, looking for Kale. "Psst... what ya think?" She hiss-whispered to him, indicating the open area in front of them.

Käle followed his sister, working hard to catch up with her. They were still much of a size, although he was completely confident that he would grow up to be enormous and impressive, even though the only way in which either of their parents could be said to be either of those things was their father's chubbiness. He was not going to grow up to be their father's shape. On that, he and their father agreed. Bren was constantly urging his cubs to do active things to avoid that fate.
Trotting and at last dropping into a walk at Svana's side, Käle surveyed their prospects. The area was open, which would be better for spotting "herdbeasts" but it meant that actually herding them could be more of a challenge because there were no natural land formations to guide them to the appropriate direction. He considered the possibilities.
"Okay, so the goal is to get...four?...four to the far side of that dip in the ground," he decided. "And we can't tell them to do it."
That last part should really go without saying, but Käle believed in being thorough. It also meant he could stall a bit while he tried to think of how to do that, and which thralls would make the likeliest targets for their practice.

"Four it is, and of course!" Nodding she squinted at the dip, slowly examining the few thralls gathered about the area. Sneaking a glance at her brother out of the corner of her eye she frowned. This was not going to be as easy as she had thought, what if these thralls shouted at them again? Like the last time...
Glancing once more at her sibling she huffed an annoyed breath, for she realised she had been stalling, waiting for him to lead. No way was she gonna let herself do that, she was gonna be the most amazing, awesome Reaver Captain the pride had ever seen, and amazing awesome captains didn't wait for their brothers to decide something.
With a slightly crazy grin aimed at Kale she suddenly leaped out from behind their rock, roaring with all her cubby might and dashed across the open ground towards the nearest thrall. Her plan seemingly to be to shock them into running in the direction she wanted.

Käle's thoughts weren't on being shouted at. He had already considered that possibility and decided that he wasn't particularly concerned about it. What was so terrible about moving some thralls around, really? He couldn't imagine anyone could legitimately get mad at him and Svana for that.
Then Svana was in motion and Käle was no longer in charge of the situation. Well, that wasn't how he had expected things to go down, but he could be flexible. And it wasn't as if he didn't know his sister harbored ambitions. She had never been particularly secretive about those, after all. He trailed after her at speed for a while before branching off like he was trying to round the group off and make sure they didn't turn.
Maybe it would have been more effective if the cubs had been bigger, but as he drew closer Käle noticed that none of the adult thralls they were charging seemed particularly intimidated by their rapid approach. He wondered if he ought to check his speed before he crashed into someone, but a glance to his side showed him that his sister was still grinning like a mad person and pelting forward, and he could not be less brave than she was.Tanakako I'm sorry for taking so long to tag this. Things got away from me for a while.

Svana recognised their predicament around the same time as her brother did. The fact that most of the thralls were outright ignoring them was obvious, and those few that did look up seemed more exasperated or confused than scared. Rage flared briefly but she was too focused on how to fix the problem to bother with the emotion. These thralls were so dense! They just stood there, staring! Letting out a roar that was really more of a shrill squeak, Svana threw herself at the nearest lioness. The blue female finally noticed the two balls of fur barreling down the hill. With a startled yelp she tried to dodge the red and black cub but Svana had no intention of failing. The slim thrall was no match for the cub's ferocity and speed and the pair went tumbling in a mass of red fluff and blue limbs. Managing to extract herself Svana jumped to her paws, barely remembering not to speak as she glared at the thrall. Glancing over at her brother she was momentarily lost as to what to do now, but the blue thrall's movements as she climbed back tore feet caught the cub's attention again. Scowling she darted forwards and snapped at the female's tail tuft, making the thrall jump backwards. Ah ha!!Princess_Feylin Its fine! I'm slow myself, no worries.

Flexibility was an important trait in a reaver, and in a captain. Not that Brenning, the cubs' father, was a fantastic reaver, but he had been born in the pride and raised there, and he knew in theory what made a good reaver. It wasn't exactly his fault that he, himself, tended to be chubby and more of a follower than a leader. Käle didn't hold it against his father. He also didn't want to grow up to be like his father. He wanted to surpass him.
So when Svana tackled the blue thrall and went tumbling, Käle changed his plans and positioned himself so that when the thrall jumped backward, he was there to ensure she ended up going in the correct direction. It wasn't a competition between himself and Svana, after all. They were supposed to be working as a viking band might to accomplish a shared goal. He glared at the thrall as if to tell her to stay put once they had her moving in the right direction. Probably it wasn't a very scary glare, given he was only a cub.Tanakako Gods, what a shitty week this has been. Sorry.

Spotting her brother veering behind the thrall she crowed loudly when he got the blue female going in the right direction. Sending him a huge grin she darted forwards to join him, racing alongside the thrall female as she picked up speed, trusting her brother to stick with her as they herded the confused lioness where they needed her to go. Once they got her in place Svana added her glare to her brothers and then ignored the confused look the thrall gave them, and the questions she asked. Hoping the thrall would be obediant enough to stay put she wipped round and looked for their next target. Glancing at Kale to see if he had spotted anyone suitable she had to bite her lip to keep from speaking. One thrall down! Princess_Feylin So so sorry this took so long! I've been hellishly busy planning christmas.

Käle's energy was beginning to flag, but he made himself put on another burst of speed when he saw Svana had done so. This wouldn't work if they did not stay together and keep apace. He was really going to have to start training seriously if he didn't want to end up as bulky as their dad, if he was this out of breath already.
His grin was triumphant once they herded their thrall into position, but the immediate difficulties of keeping her there then presented themselves. Reavers were allowed to tell their captives to stay. Could they do the same in this instance? No, he decided, they could not. That would be taking the easy way, and Käle didn't believe in that.
As he panted in place he scanned the area for their next target, at last prodding Svana with one paw before nodding toward a [NPC] pair of thralls who looked like they might be siblings.Tanakako My word, a timely tag from me. I hope Christmas plans are turning out all right?

Svana had been watching her brother and nodded as he poked her, agreeing with his choice of new targets. Two would be more difficult but she knew they could do it! They were amazing reavers after all! Giving their first thrall as ferocious a glare as she could manage, she followed her brother as he turned towards the siblings, quickly flinging herself at full pace towards the pair, yowling and hissing as loudly as her little cubby body could manage. Princess_Feylin Yes actually! Finished wrapping gifts last night, though I have lost one somewhere... a jokey-type one so nothing expensive but still... its annoying I cant find it. The food is half brought. Im doing it at mine for the first time this year so.. panicking somewhat! lol I figure we can end here if you liked? Maybe start a new one? I'd love them to train together as adols. Im hoping Svana is going to be pretty close to Kale.
