Wrathful Shapeshifter

Name: Lesex might be his full name, but when introducing himself it is simply Lex. Shards if anyone going to know that his full name is Lesex, he’ll never hear the end of it.
Age: 19 20
Gender: Male
Rank: Trapper of furred and scale/skin tunnelsnakes

Appearance: Lex is delicate looking, his face is an inverted triangle giving him a longish face with a gently pointed chin. He had a mass of curling white blonde hair, with a lot of volume and a tendency to fizz. Hair type 3C. His ears have a slight point, giving him an etheric quality multiplied by the fact he has complete heterochromia iridum, his left eye is pale blue and his right eye is gray.

He isn’t a tall individual, at 5’7’’ he is average in height and not at all large. Most of his apparent bulk is layers of clothing. Lex is a slender thing, and certainly leggy. It may not be a fashionable weight, but he works for a living. Lex has a love for bone jewelry, he has several pieces featuring tunnel snake skulls.

Personality:
Lex is shameless, he’s outrageous, fun loving, loud, and just there. He is very much larger than life and certainly has a confident and positive view that draws attention to himself. If a person is polite, they might call him eccentric, with his skull hair clips and fang decorations and his general in your face cheerfulness. If there is someone to flop on a ledge, nude, to bathe in the sun, it would be Lesex.

He’s audacious in both sense of the word, boldly taking risks and having a cheeky impertinent tongue. Whatever little filter tells a person to squash a thought seems to be taken a long vacation if it was ever there. Lesex seems to thrive on impulsiveness and poor risk assessment. He can totally make that jump, take on that tunnel snake, and swim that river. He has his trusty bronze flit Templar with him, doesn’t he?

In all it might be crunched together into the simple statement, Lesex is bored now, and that means he has to find something to do. Lesex threshold of doing repetitive tasks is low. His threshold of being content when bored is low. Give him something to do now that isn’t boring. He’s restless and wants to be on the move now, right now.

Certainly he is a bit of a hedonist, why should he restrain himself in his pursuits if he isn’t causing any harm to anyone else around him? Lesex lives in the moment and believes that he should certainly enjoy it. He is extroverted and certainly thrives amongst people. Coming back from a hunt and getting his share tends to fuel his urge to go party.
Lex loves people but his relationships tend to be in the moment hooks ups and besties with benefits. Commitment seems to be lacking when it comes to the idea of long term intimate relationships. He does have a focus for his job, and if he was smart would have kept to the tannery, but poor decision or not when it comes to life expectancy, he does what he enjoys. His family might find him a bit exasperating at time but they are all a bit crazy.

History:
Lesex is the only son of a tanner and a retired tunnel snake fur trapper. He has two elder sisters and one younger and has long since dumped any responsibility of the tannery on them. Lol, he don’t want to deal with this. It’s boring. So boring. And smelly and just, no.

Instead, he went off to his mother’s side of the family to join them in trapping fur bearing tunnel snakes. It was dangerous work, involving long treks into the frozen wilderness, tracking and eventually killing creatures that even dragons balk at taking on, and when successful certainly lucrative. Lesex loved it. He was constantly moving, certainly at time he was by himself but often he was with a partner or the hunting group. He got to bury his hands in fur that was reserved for the very highest Lords and Ladies and well, if his leathers ended up lined in scraps of less than perfect fur, mmhm warmth, it not like anyone can tell.

He had a partner, one of his many cousins, who was bonded to a wher and they scouted ahead searching for signs of the passage of Alabaster and Greater tundra tunnel snakes, with Templar, Lesex first purchase, flying recon, guiding them to spots to judge the age of the scrap in the frost or disturbed stone or scat.

The hunt, when one of the beasts were found was certainly danger and had to be done fast and accurate. Timing was important, and injury often meant death or early retirement due a crippling injury. Still, when they managed to take down a beast the yards of fine, lustrous fur can set them up well for possibly turns depending on how the persons share was spent.

The skull and paws of the tunnel snake are usually also taken as trophy’s and to be dried and carved into trinkets for sale, and the meat given to the whers and flits if the creature flesh isn’t poison.
Being a scout, Lex job is full of risks and accessing them and it might be a bit of a blessing that he doesn’t think too much. Testing to make sure the lake is frozen over, if it can’t take his weight it certainly isn’t going to take a whers. It is also very, very cold. Clambering up rocky up crops to see if it would be feasible to lug up supplies. Fun, sliding down on your butt, less fun. Deciding if they should split if a trail goes cold ehh, not usually a good thing. Getting lost, ehh that one sucked. So, deciding to take on a hatching might not have been such a good idea. Even though they did manage to kill it, skin it, and harvest it with minor injuries, Tems wher ended up receiving the worse of it and he sprained his ankle and took some light injuries across his chest. He certainly has more respected for the limbs now, those middle ones can wreck you good.
Thread is beginning to become a problem, the cold is rather good about killing it, but Dragon riders don’t always fly the high tundra’s because no one really lives there. Outside of snakes, more snake, and the occasional person. Hunts can go on for months and bunkering down in hopefully abandoned dens is getting a bit old.
‘Think this is abandoned?’
‘Well, we’re probably going to find out soon enough.’
‘True.’
He been thinking of maybe standing in a search, if he is around for it. It might be a tad bit safer then running after tunnel snakes and flying, that sounds pretty cool.
[I want him IC searched]

Candidacy I predict some problems and some benefits. One, people, so many people, all over the place and yes. Two, what is this literacy and why do I have to learn it? Possible regrets, yes. Possibly less death and still all the gossip? He misses knowing what is going on in the holds and the Weyr and having a few months’ vacation when they travel to the main holds to sell furs and scrimshaw carvings does leave a lot of catching up to do.

[But first, the search - not standing for this clutch, but having him impress from the stands would be possibility if one just clicks)

Flit
Lex owns a bronze Flit name Templar. Templar is a striking thing with a splotchy patterned hide. The bronze was brought after Lex’s second successful hunt and is trained to scout for potential dens, nests, and signs of a snakes passage. He also fetches items and hunts small creatures to add to the communal group pot. He understands various whistles, hand signals, and spoken commands.

In all, Templar is a rather well trained flit.

Just a quick note for this one - it would be great to hear a little more about how Lesex reacts in his personal relationships. Does he get as bored of people as he gets bored of everything else? Is he good at making friends, or does he find it easier to be solitary?

Has his poor risk assessment ever strained his relationships - for example with his old partner, considering they were doing such dangerous work? - or got him injured?

He seems like he isn’t particularly good at long term planning - do you think he’ll have difficulty sticking out a candidacy? Has his relatively solitary life affected him? Does it have an impact on his ‘eccentricity?

Looking forward to approving him!
