Antianeira is a predominantly female pack, though males are allowed. As tradition dictates the pack is always run my a female, preferably one born from the previous queen, though others may be given the rank should the Queen not produce any female heirs. Females will always hold the highest ranks within the pack and shall always be given the utmost respect from the male members. While the views on males differ amongst all the females, it is the general belief that they can live strong, independent lives without males at their sides.
Males are the bottom of the barrel in this pack. They are here mainly to do menial tasks that the warrior consider not important enough to do themselves and thus they are considered as slaves, they do occasionally help produce pups . Every so often a male may prove himself to be deserving of a higher rank, though he will never outrank a female. Even the Queens mate does not outrank any females in the pack, but he is treated with a bit more respect then the others.

Summer Weather

Highlands
Thunderstorms form over these mountains at all times of the year, bringing dramatic flashes of lightning that can be heard in the lowlands.
Snow begins to melt. The sun's rays become strong, and the mountains start to turn into a wet wonderland. Early summer is full of brand new lakes, huge creeks that were completely dry during the winter time, and flooded meadowland once covered in snow. As the summer progresses, water starts to flow from the tips of glaciers around Viracocha. The meadows become filled with lush grasses and pleasant flowers. Warmer temperatures mean that moonsoonal clouds build over the mountains. Later aftternoons and evenings are often filled with an abundance of thunderclouds. While being struck by lightning is rare, the booms are no laughing matter. The rains from these thunderclouds have been known to trigger rock falls, debris flows, and the rare landslide.

Midlands & Lowlands
The elevated forest around the swamps and where Ha'Pah resides remain cool and often pleasant during the entire summer. They also, unfortunately, tend to attract many mosquitoes, making this region a beautiful but annoying place to stay. The lower lands tend to be warmer, though are cool again by the delta. Every few years, small tornadoes will touch down in this area, twisting trees like twigs. Hail storms will usually occur once or twice in the summer in large clouds that sink down from the high mountains. In addition, it is common to hear the distant thundering boom of lightning storms over the Jotunfjell range. Rain-showers occur every few weeks and the moisture in the forest mean most summer mornings in the midlands begins as fog or mist.

Swamplands
Air will drop from the surrounding highlands into the swamplands during the summer and can make the swamp reach sweltering, unbearably high temperatures. The moisture from the swamp and the cover from the trees mean that the area often becomes grossly humid. The most relief comes from the many, clear river channels that cut through the swamp. These are snow-melt which pours from the mountain, and are cool enough to send a chill up most spines. The exception is the Xiuhtecuhtli River, which is partially fed by volcanic water, and can burn animals all year round. Rain is a fairly common feature in the summer. Days will start out clear, build, and by afternoon a strong downpour will start, cooling the swamp. This will be gone in a few hours, leaving the sun to make the place feel muggy again. Many mosquitoes, butterflies, and other buglife flutter through the marshland during this time.

It started many years ago with a wolf named Melosa, who could not longer live a life being submissive to the males within her pack. So she set out to make her our life, never again letting a male push her around. Though it had been a tough new life she took it all in stride, and eventually started to find other females who felt the same about their male dominators. Together they formed a small traveling band of wolves who worked together to make life what they wished it to be. Melosa over time became known as the alpha of the group and together they formed a pack that they would call Antianeira. It was a sisterhood in which no male was allowed to enter. But Melosa was not stupid, she knew that without males the pack would die off soon enough. So every once in a while, she would send out several of the sister to seek out a male that would provide the necessary pups that would keep the pack alive. Melosa also insisted that they all train to be powerful warriors, for an all female pack could easily be a target for males hoping to score an easy mate.

Those pups that were born female were allowed to stay and train. The males however were often cast out when they were old enough to live without their mother, or in some cases were killed at birth since they were of no use to the pack. Slowly the pack expanded until it was swelling with members. Even Melosa had managed to produce a strong litter of four females, the first born of which she named as her heir to the packs control. From that point on it was said that the first born female of each Alpha would become the heir. And because it was a female run pack they decided to adopt a new name for the Alpha rank – they chose Queen.

When Melosa’s granddaughter, Aello, took her rightful place as the packs Queen that some changes were made to the pack. By far the largest change was that she allowed males in the pack, granted they were brought in as slaves to the sisters and breeding fodder. By this point the pack had grown too large for the sisters to be tied down with menial jobs, and that is where the slaves came in. It took a while for the sisters adjust to life with males in the pack but the slaves quickly learned to keep out of the sisters way and to never question their orders. Some sisters even took on slaves as their personal assistants, though it was rare.

Through the years the pack remained strong, each generation continuing on as the prior one had. Traditions were passed on that helped keep the pack together, strong and bonded. Everything had been following the vision that Melosa had set out to start, even if it did include some males within the pack.

Eventually the pack came under the reign of Queen Marpe. She was a good queen, holding true to the values that had been put in place since the creation of the pack many years ago. The only downfall of Marpe's reign was that she failed to produce a female pup among her many breedings. Some of the pack members began to question whether the queen was truly fit for her rank, for she had failed to do the one thing that was expected of her during her reign and that was to produce female pups and most importantly an heir. Slowly a rift started to form among the pack members, some remained loyal to Queen Marpe and hoped that her next little might finally produce a female, while a second group began to plot against the queen. It did not take long before the two side clashed.

The infighting was fierce and lasted for many days, as both sides were equally trained and had about equal numbers. Those that fought against the Queen were looking to remove her from power and place a new female as their leader, one who would give them a strong female heir. Divided the pack fought fiercely, the two sides each believing that their ‘leader’ should be the rightful new Queen. During the fighting Queen Marpe was badly injured. Not able to fight anymore she hid herself away, a few of her loyal subjects stuck close by. As the battle raged on, neither side seemed to be making any ground; both were losing members quickly in the bloodshed.

With the fighting continuing on, and no clear side being the victor the two sides dispersed into the forest. They would rethink their strategies and claim the throne some other day. As Queen Marpe lay dying, she asked her closest advisor to come to her. Penthesilea did as she was told, coming to the Queens side. To her surprise the Queen, passed on the leadership of the pack to her, through the Rite of Caste. Her dying words still ring in Penthesilea’s ear to this day. “Bring the pack back together, my Queen.”

And so Penthesilea set out to find those from her pack, to rebuild what was destroyed in the fighting as well as recruit new members into the ranks. It took many months for Penthesilea to find some of her scattered pack members, yet slowly but surely they returned. Their numbers were not as great as before but she knew that over time the pack would return to it's former glory. She made sure that the old traditions were brought back to life, appropriate ranks were given to both former and new members and a strict training routine was set to get everyone back in fighting shape. It would take a lot of hard work but Penthesilea was determined and she would see her old Queen's dying wish become a reality.

As time went on the pack grew in strength and numbers, it also saw the return of more old members including their Shamaness Yakut. There were a few bumps along the way as well, such as an attempt on Penthesilea's life, but the Queen turned that into something positive and used that same wolf to father a little of six pups - five of which were female. Some things had changed over that time as well. Penthesilea no longer accepted or followed the original ideals of killing or abandoning male pups, instead she looked for a better solution to those born of that unfortunate gender. She found a solution in a pack situated to the south of their territory, a pack known as YMCA. There she forged an alliance with the alpha Chivosi. YMCA would take on any of their unwanted males, be it pups or adults, and in return Antianeira would provide YMCA protection if and when needed as well as accept and train any females that wished to become warriors into their own pack.

Things remained relatively peaceful for the pack until the disaster struck Telk. Keeping with their alliance with YMCA, which would be renamed New Dawn once in the new lands, Penthesilea brought her pack to the protection of the other. The two packs traveled together as one large conglomerate pack seeking shelter from the ruined lands. When they reached Tolas they decided to keep their alliance strong and to help the packs settle into these new and unknown lands that they would form their pack territories side by side. Though the packs are considered separate, in this time of adjustment they often act as one, helping with hunting and caring for of members. With time they will start to act more independently but their alliance will forever remain strong.

Quadrant 5
Spot A

Available Prey, Highlands: Bighorn sheep (rare), chipmunk, ground squirrel, hare, marmot (very common), mountain goat, Pika (uncommon)

Available Prey, Lowlands: Beaver (most common in winter), deer (very common), duck, elk (common), fish (common), geese, moose (rare), opossum, rabbits or hare, squirrels

Available Prey, Swamplands: Beaver (common), deer (uncommon), duck, elk (rare), fish (very common), geese, moose (common), snakes, squirrels

Weather (Highlands)
Thunderstorms form over these mountains at all times of the year, bringing dramatic flashes of lightning that can be heard in the lowlands.

Summer: Snow begins to melt.

Fall: By now, the majority of the snow has melted, leaving patchwork piles of white scattered through the highlands. Meltwater streams are not as full as in summer, but still hold a current. Water outpouring from glaciers are at their peak, flooding into the lowlands and making them marshy. Thunderstorms occur more frequently, though they are less intense and have little rain. As the fall progresses, these thunderstorms are replaced by snow-bearing clouds. During this time, snow may fall and be followed the next day by a warm, sunny day. Temperatures slowly drop until winter, where they stay low.

Winter: The ocean brings in so much moisture here that winter snowfall is extreme. Foot after foot falls until the sharp rocks have been thickly covered. Snow covers deep crevasses, making crossing glaciers extremely dangerous. Days vary between cloudy and clear, though the air is always frigid due to the harsh winds that rip up the unvegetated land carved by old glaciers. Blizzards are common.

Spring: This season is more or less like winter. It is not until late spring that temperatures start to warm and snow truly begins to start melting. Most of these days, the sun is a lie. It appears warm, but its rays are not yet strong enough to produce a great deal of heat.

Weather (Midlands & Lowlands)
Summer: The elevated forest around the swamps and where Ha'Pah resides remain cool and often pleasant during the entire summer.

Fall: Rain clouds form every week as opposed to every few weeks. The cool water on the warm ground often produces steam, and late fall is characterized by thick fogs and mists that make the forests eerie and strange. Sound is distorted, and traveling is often hindered. Sometimes, visibility is so poor that animals have been known to walk into trees and other stationary objects. The weather is relatively mild, comprised of mostly rain with the occasional bout of hail.

Winter: Though some snow falls in winter, the real snow begins to hit late in the season. Snowfall is measured in inches towards the eastern side of the quadrant and increases to feet in the midlands. The amount of moisture in the air means that rain is constantly falling, however this moisture also keeps the air from being unbearably frigid. Gusts of wind are very rare, as are temperatures that fall exceedingly below freezing. For the most part, it is a constant cold, but not a severe one. Blizzards are rare, but they do occur.

Spring: Spring brings relief from winter chill and days alternate between thunderstorms bearing rain, hail, or snow and sunny days. Snow does not begin melting until halfway into spring, and is gone everywhere by mid-summer. Several meadows are present in the forested region near Ha'Pah and these are lush, green, and house many wildflowers and crystal clear pools. By this time, the weather is usually pleasant for all: sunny with scattered clouds and a light breeze.

Weather (Swamplands)
The marshlands and ocean areas are typically cool and very humid all year round.

Summer: Air will drop from the surrounding highlands into the swamplands during the summer and can make the swamp reach sweltering, unbearably high temperatures.

Fall: Fall brings gentle winds to the marsh and the cool air, coupled with the evaporation from the swampwater, begins to lower the overall temperature of the swamp. Rain moves through every few days, and showers are generally mild. The sky stays cloudy most of the time, though temperatures are often comfortable. Eastern fall breezes from the ocean may feel a bit on the chilly side.

Winter: It does not snow in the swamp. It simply rains, and rains, and rains. The heaviest rainfall occurs in late winter, when the rivers of the delta flood and the entire region becomes a mess of water and tall growing reeds. Many grasses grow so thick that one cannot see the clear water beneath them. Stepping into one of these areas will put even a moose knee-deep in water. As a foreigner, navigating the swamps at this time is a nightmare. Temperatures almost never reach freezing, and never long enough that ice forms over moving bodies of water. It does, however, hail in the swamp, and hail is known to be the largest here compared to anywhere else in Tolas.

Spring: Hail storms continue on a casual basis into spring. Most water is deposited by rain, although by mid-spring, rain is relatively rare. Snow-melt from the mountains keeps the swamp full and flooded, and the water cool. The ocean is also at a high point during this time, and salt-water may encroach into the delta. Someone's wonderful freshwater pool by the sea, therefore, may suddenly turn into a saltwater pool by the sea.

Delta Waters
Summer: Ocean temperatures begin to warm until late summer, where they are at their hottest. At this time, the water is akin to a light, cool breeze; it is definitely cooler than the air, but not by a lot. Sharks and large other marine species can be seen in the bay most often during this time, taking advantage of the warmer ocean waters and the fish secluded into tidal pockets. Dolphins are a common occurrence. No major storms of note.

Fall: Temperatures in the ocean slowly begin to reduce. Animals with lots of fat or thick coats should have no trouble wading into the delta for long periods of time. Off-shore storms start will increase the wave height. Because the area is a protected delta, however, these rarely become dangerous.

Winter: Temperatures continue to reduce, but are more or less the same as fall until late winter. During late winter, ocean temperatures at at their coldest. Even an animal with a thick coat cannot be seen in the water for very long. Medium-sized whales that enjoy cooler water, such as the Orca, are most commonly viewed during this time. The occasional strong, winter storms will churn the delta waters and make them murky. Being in the ocean at this time is hazardous, and strong rip tides have been known to drag even bears out to see who swam in too far.

Spring: Delta temperatures begin to warm. Though the water is still a little on the cold side for most until late spring, this is a good time to gather many types of shellfish. Like in winter, however, the rip-tides are very strong, and even bears should be wary if they decide to swim into the ocean. Dolphins are a very common occurrence in late spring, and are often seen playing in the delta.

Landmarks

1. Xiuhtecuhtli River (Fire Lord's River): This river and section of swamp are almost entirely unpassable. West, towards the mouth of the river, the water is frigid, melted from the mountain. Here, however, the swamp is warm and harbors lots of bacteria and disease many animals are highly susceptible to. The river, however, is boiling and steams at all hours of the day in all weather conditions. It hisses and spits where it reaches the stream. The Wapishi tribe in quadrant four has carved a rattlesnake into a tree standing by the mouth of the river. It looks back towards the mountain as though guarding the river's path to the sea.

2. #Ha'Pah (Acid Water): Very similar to Earth's Yellowstone, this region is dominated by steaming mud pits, hot water pools, and geysers which smell thick of sulfur. Almost everything is too hot to touch, and doing so will result in severe, instantaneous scalding which will peel off layers of skin. Animals that fall into pools unsuspecting often die of exposure. However deadly, the land surrounding these pools is often beautiful. Several types of bacteria live in these hot water pools lending to intense blues, greens, golds, and reds that light up the pools and form over nearby rocks.

3. #Ta'ab Valley (Salt Valley): Nestled between two huge mountain ranges, this deep canyon only has one entrance and exit to the north. The steep, tall sides allow no water to get through and the lake in the center has become highly saline and undrinkable. During the winter, the area freezes and in the rare instance of rain it will snow heavily on this highland lake. However, the lake never freezes over and it maintains a remarkable (100 Fahrenheit) all year round, fluctuating only a few degrees. This makes it an extremely pleasant place to submerge on cold days. Salt crystals can be found readily along the lakes edges, as well as some minerals that contain arsenic. Eat at your own risk.

4. #Human Ruins: These ruins do not have a local name. In fact, most animals readily avoid this area. Gases escape through the deep tombs and catacombs beneath these pyramid-like ruins, and the entire place smells of rot, mold, and death.

Artifacts (These are items discoverable by wolves near this landmark): Stone carvings, brightly colored cloth (often torn and weathered), dull cloth (cotton, burlap, leather), ceramics. Very rarely, wolves may find iron, bronze, or copper jewelry here.

Languages

Common Tongue (Telkish): The language spoken in Telk (the old world) is the common tongue in this world. Most wolves are bilingual, and speak common and their regional language. Telk's most dominated inspiration comes from the English language and names and phrases will reflect this.

Appearance

Wolves can be of any color or possess any pattern. While naturals are considered better for certain ranks, such as warrior and scout, any wolf of any color may hold these ranks as long as they possess the skill, and gender, necessary. Pelt color and pattern isn't important but gender is.

Resources

Water
For water the pack relies on whatever source they can find, the bulk of which consists of a pond found within their territory, though they may occasionally travel to a river outside their territory if they are faced with drought-like conditions. In the winter, should the pond freeze solid, they will drink from small nearby streams, where the moving water prevents the stream from freezing in even the coldest of conditions, for their water needs. In spring when the winter snow melts the run off can and will be used as a water source.

Food
For hunting the preferred prey is deer or elk, as a single kill can often be enough to feed the entire pack. However the pack will hunt smaller game if and when necessary. They will also occasionally hunt for mountain goat if the conditions are right.

Blessing of The First Born

Ritual performed to bless the first born female pup of the Queen. While the birth of any pup in the pack is a special occasion that is celebrated, the birth of the first female of the Queen is the most celebrated of all. The pup is smeared with blood of a fresh kill and the pack dances in a circle around mother and daughter to bond them together forever as the Shamaness chants an ancient blessing.

Death Ritual

Performed after the death of a pack member. Upon the death of a pack member the Shamaness gathers the pack around the deceased. The Queen will then arrive last, prompting the start of the ceremony. The pack will form a circle around the deceased, with the Shamaness and Queen in the center. Together the two will start dancing around the deceased, chanting a farewell song, the other pack members will join in matching the Queen and Shamaness' movement and words until the pack is moving and speaking in unison. After the pack has become one in chant and dance, they bid their final farewells individually, the Shamaness and Queen will be the last to leave as they continue to dance and chant until all other members had bid their fallen member goodbye.

Ritual of Blood

Every two moon cycles the residing Shamaness will preform the Ritual of Blood. During this ritual the shamaness will pick a prey animal which she saw in her dreams for the pack to hunt. Upon the animals death she will collect fresh blood onto a piece of tree bark or in a turtle shell if one is available. Using her claw to move the blood about she will 'read' the blood. What is told in the blood will affect the pack directly, it may be the birth of new pups, the death of a member, upcoming war or something else of great importance.

Blessing of The Hunt

A ritual performed to ensure a successful hunt. To ensure a safe and successful hunt the Shamaness or Queen will bless those who are going out in search of prey.

Rite of Caste

In the event that the Queen does not produce a female heir she will pass on leadership of the pack through the rite of caste. The Queen will choose the one who is most worthy of the position and offer to her the role. Should the other accept the pack will celebrate their future Queen. In the rare event that the wolf refuses the offer she will be driven from the pack and a new successor will be chosen.

Queen (Alpha)
She is the leader of the pack. Born of the previous Queen, she is well versed in all aspects of pack life. Strong, determined and brave she will lead battles when necessary, believing that a Queen has as much reason to fight for her pack as the others do.

Princess (Alpha)
Generally the princess is the first born female of the current queen. However should the Queen not produce a female heir then one of her most trusted pack members will be chosen to follow her to the throne.

Royal Guards(Beta)
These wolves are charged with protecting the Queen, both present and future, at all costs. They are brave, strong and completely loyal. Willing to put their life on the line to protect the packs Queen.

Royal Advisors (Beta)
The Beta’s of the pack. These are some of the most trusted wolves in the Queens eye. They are skilled in battle but also extremely intelligent, helping to make decisions in the pack along side the queen - though the Queen has final say over everything.

Shamaness (Gamma/Beta/Seer/Shaman)
The Shamaness is the healer of the pack and the performer of rituals. She is highly trained in her arts and is there to ensure that everything run smoothly. This rank is always held by a female and she will choose her successor and train them as she herself was trained. At this time there will only be one Shamaness in the pack, but more may be added as time goes by.
Note: The Shamaness may not be a true Shaman or Seer, she can be a pseudo-shaman/seer, who believes that what she sees and hears is real and the pack believes these things without a doubt.

Head Warrior (Beta)
The Head Warrior is responsible for overseeing the training of all of the female pack members. She is often the most dedicated and skilled warrior within the pack, outside of the Queen. She can be extremely tough on her students as she wishes only perfection from her warriors. Her training methods should never be questions as she has the experience and knows what it takes to be truly prepared for battle.

Warriors (Any Rank)
The default rank of the pack. All wolves are trained in the art of war from the time they open their eyes to the time they take their last breath they are always training to become the best warrior within the pack. Honor comes to those who show themselves to excel at their duties to keep the pack safe at all times. When they are not training these wolves will be off hunting or checking the borders for any intruders.

Crafters (Any Rank)
All the armor and decorations that the wolves wear doesn’t make itself. These wolfs craft the various pieces of armor from things they find within the forest, or on occasion steal it from the two leggers camps. Position usually held by females, though the odd male may be a crafter as well.
Note: Anything the crafters make must follow shop item rules.

Nanny (Gamma/Omega)
Those who look after the puppies in the pack while members are busy training or hunting. They are often omegas but can be of any rank. These wolves are often the more caring members of the pack and thusly are more suited to looking after the young than living the lives of warriors.

Queens Consort (Any Rank except Alpha)
This is the male with whom the Queen will have litters with. He is loyal to her 100% and would never, ever think about leaving her for another female. If he did, then he would be severely punished, either killed or run out of the pack completely.

The Favored (Gamma/Omega/Vagabond)
The highest rank a male can obtain outside of Queen's Consort. These males have shown to be exceptionally loyal to the pack and are deserving of a much higher rank than slave. They are hunters, favored mates of the females or warriors. All in all, they have worked hard to reach this rank but they know that the smallest slip up will send them back to being a slave or run out of the pack.

Slaves (Gamma/Omega/Vagabond)
The lowest rank within the pack, most often comprised of males, though some females may hold this role if they show themselves to be not worthy of warrior rank. They spend their lives doing menial jobs for the Sisters, often things that are considered too unimportant for the warriors to both with. On rare occasions a slave may be chosen by a female to father a litter of pups.
