He'd almost missed dinner, but managed to catch the tail end of it thanks to a traffic jam on the way home. He was almost tempted to just park his car somewhere, power up and mirrorwalk home, but with all the Negaverse Agents out, he didn't want to arouse any suspicion. Especially not when it was their fault he hadn't gotten home until so late.
He'd wanted to spend more time with Raven, more time with Chloe.
Things were getting worse.
He couldn’t relax, and there were officers out all the time. He was stressed and paranoid and…
Didn't know what to do.
Coming home, he'd snuggled with his wife, sat on the couch and watched some movie he was only half paying attention to while Chloe laid on top of both of them.
She had fallen asleep nearly twenty minutes ago and, now that the movie was over, Jett looked down at her and pursed his lips. She was clutching an obviously well loved stuffed animal and had her fingers tangled in her mother's hair as she slept.
A smile crept onto his face and he leaned against Raven, shaking his head just a bit. "…You're going to have a hard time fighting her fingers out of your hair, I think. She's gotten a little extra clingy these past few days. Do you think…" He was quiet, not wanting to wake the girl up, "…She's worried about what's going on out there?"
…She was a little girl—who watched a lot of television and saw a lot of Negaverse Agents on a daily basis. Even he didn't know the extent of what she had been exposed to. But he knew that she saw the two of them worry, knew that she had spied on them while they had hushed conversations or tried to make backup plans. He knew that she understood some things were wrong.
He just didn't know if she had any idea how bad things were.
