Per Melanite's suggestion, Astrophyllite was targeting rich men in suits for energy draining now. She'd expected them to be harder targets, but they all walked around largely oblivious of their surroundings, like nothing could harm them and if anyone tried, the police would be on their side. As a result, it was easy to slip beside them when they stepped outside the building for a smoke or made their ways to their cars, trace her fingers down their backs, and pull away little bits of their life force.

Their life force.

She'd never thought of energy as a finite resource before Melanite explained it to her as such. She thought you could just go home and eat some food and sleep a bit and get it all back but knowing that every time she took energy from people she was taking a little bit off their lifetime raised a lot of questions for her. At least these bigwigs could spare the change, though. At least Melanite had said they could...

Slipping away from her latest target, Astrophyllite merged the sphere of energy she'd collected into her larger collection ball. She'd met her quota almost exactly, so at least Natron would be pleased with her. She put the energy away, safe inside her jacket, and sniffed around.

She felt a page nearby, their aura spicy and dry like desert sand, a metallic tang like rust, and scorching sunlight. The lieutenant called her ouija board to hand and crept quietly down the alley. If this was going to be a fight, well, at least she'd be ready.

The funny thing was that, as a civilian, Glitnir would possibly have been one of those rich men in suits... or, at least, a man in a suit (being in college was not very conducive to having a lot of money around, after all). Even after having visited his Wonder, having met his ancestor, and attaining his signet ring, he was still getting used to the whole Page thing. It wasn't enough to have just a taste of the weirdness surrounding his new powers; he would have to work a fair bit harder to truly understand what was going on. Now that he was back in the college dorms, he had a bit more freedom to slip out and patrol, so he decided that he was going to make an effort to take advantage of it.

Tonight had been fairly uneventful, and Glitnir was considering giving up and going home when he felt an uncanny prickling that he couldn't exactly place. He did not quite make the connection to a Chaos aura, but he was smart enough to know that something bad was approaching. He pressed his back up against a wall, clutched the chain of his scales tightly, and waited to see what was coming.

She didn't see him at first as she advanced down the alley, but Astrophyllite could feel the page more than clearly. The closer she got, the stronger the tang of rust became, in her nose and her mouth and everywhere. Although she was nearly certain it was her imagination, she could feel the grit of sand between her teeth. If she had to guess where the alien she was hunting came from, based on her parochial school knowledge of the solar system, she was going to say Mars.

At some point, she'd managed to move past the signature without ever locking onto it. Astrophyllite now turned on her heels and doubled back, peering into the shadows, her ouija board held at the ready. "Here little alien," she whispered. "Here little alien. I'm gonna- I'm gonna-"

She wasn't exactly sure. Gehenna had been a Mars Squire, and he'd been pretty okay, after all! What if this one was pretty okay, too? But she had to fight knights, they were traitors... "I'm gonna rough you up non-fatally so I don't get in trouble for not roughing you up," concluded Astrophyllite, thinking this statement of good will might make her prey more willing to show themself.

Wait, what? The source of the Chaos aura was a younger girl. A girl who was talking about aliens and roughing him up. The roughing-up part Glitnir understood, though it made him a little unhappy to hear that she was going to get in trouble for not beating him up. She was just a kid; how could her higher-ups expect her to beat people up without fail? It was the part about the aliens that he didn't get at all. He stepped out from his hiding place in the alley, staring the girl down with one eyebrow arched curiously. "Uh, are you looking for me?"

Wow, he'd been hiding so good! Astrophyllite grinned at the page. "Yes!" she said. "I was looking for you! And now that I've found you, we've got to fight!" Those were the rules, right? He was an alien, and she was a defender of the Earth!

She held up her ouija board and bounced like a boxer waiting for the start of the match. "I'll take first blood, then," she giggled, since clearly the page was a bit slow on the uptake! "I'll try not to hit you too hard! We can just both go home and say we won!"

With that, she swung the board at the page.

"Um, wait- oh geez!" Reflexively, Glitnir raised one arm to block the board and winced when it made contact. Appearances were certainly deceiving; this girl was capable of a hard swing. Technically, the girl was right; they were supposed to fight. He was a Knight of Order, and she was a Negaverse lieutenant. He just didn't feel right striking at someone like this girl; he was expecting to fight against someone more capable of inflicting more than a few bruises on him (though perhaps she did have some hidden capability to do more damage that he didn't know about). "Look, I get that you're probably under some special rules of engagement or something. But are you sure you want to do this? I'm taller and stronger than you are. I wouldn't feel right being the reason some poor girl had to explain away bruises to her parents." Yes, there was a key idea, right there. If he roughed her up, how would she explain what had happened to her family? It would just be a bad situation all around, and Glitnir didn't want to be a factor in that.

Astrophyllite stepped back, a deep frown marring her features. That just didn't make any sense to her - why wouldn't he want to fight? It was, like, the natural order of things! "Why've you got to make this all hard and stuff?" she asked. No one was gonna see her bruises, anyway! (What did he think she did, hung out in her underwear in front of her mom?! First of all, no. Second of all, no!)

"We're supposed to fight," she insisted, adjusting her grip on the board and perhaps telegraphing that she was going to go for another swing. "Didn't anyone give you the memo?" She'd said that they should just rough each other up a little, but on a more serious note, she'd get in trouble if she didn't at least try to do her job.

And she did want to do her job! It was important work! She was defending the earth!

"Get back, Alien Scum!" she shrieked, swinging the board at him once more.

Why did Glitnir have to make it all hard and stuff? Because he didn't feel right socking a girl who appeared to be around his younger sister's age. (Sometimes his older sister would roughhouse with him, but that was subject to a different set of rules and contexts.) "Yeah, I know, I did in fact get a memo-" She swung at him again, and this time his block was less precise and a finger got jammed. "Ow! Okay, seriously, what's with this 'alien' stuff? Even if I'm a Knight now, I was definitely human before! Born on Earth and everything!" Sighing with mild exasperation, he lifted his scales. "Okay. Fine. I'll fight so we can both say we did our jobs." He brought the scales closer to Astrophyllite's head, then swung carefully so that all she would get would be a gentle tap on the side of the head from one of the scale baskets. "Bop."

"You look like humans, but you come from space!" Astrophyllite asserted fiercely, and tracked his scales awkwardly with her eyes. Perhaps she didn't expect him to actually hit her? At any rate, when the blow came, she moved her head to the side in what was clearly over-compensation, and then scowled.

"Oh, come on!" the lieutenant whined. "I hardly felt that at all! Put some muscle into it!"

She swung her ouija board again, not too hard, but in a vague approximation of how hard she would have liked the page to be hitting back. "You've got this thing in your chest called a starseed and yours comes from outer space. Duh." Didn't everyone know that? If even she knew that, it seemed like everyone ought to.

"No, I definitely came from-" Whack. Wince. Ow. The lieutenant's subsequent argument suddenly made everything snap into order from Glitnir. Even if his body was from Earth, his soul was from space or at least connected to it. That was a foreign element and certainly a qualification for being an alien, at least partially so. "Okay, so my soul is from space. Fine. Good enough. If you really want something to feel... get ready."

He was going to hate every second of this, but this girl wasn't going to let him get away until she was satisfied that they'd both given their jobs an honest try. He gave his scales a precisely measured swing for a body blow. A bruise on her body could be covered under clothes, at least. Hopefully it wouldn't hurt too much.

"Ow!" yelped Astrophyllite, staggering back from the blow. His weapon was hard to track, being on a chain as it was, and she'd taken it right to the side! Be careful what you wish for and all that, she figured, pouting at him. "That really smarts!"

She definitely did not want to tangle with him anymore! Not at all! And no one would be able to look at her bruise and dare say she didn't try to fight him. "I'm going home now," she informed him seriously, "but you are still alien scum and should think very seriously about going back to outer space or at the very least joining the Negaverse because we are right and good and you'll be forgiven for being an alien, okay?"

"Sorry," Glitnir said, mostly on impulse. He probably shouldn't have said sorry, given the circumstances, but he couldn't help it. When the girl informed him she was going home, he nodded. "Right. Have a good night and put some ice on the bruise or something. And, uh, I'll think about the space thing." Sure, he was being awfully cavalier with a supposed enemy, but he felt no real impetus to be rude to her. Besides, he had to go into space to see Cornelius eventually, so it wasn't a total lie. He gave her a casual wave off and kept an eye on her to see if she was seriously leaving.
