Torcha was determined today. Today she would manage to tame an uruu! Luck was on her side, after all isn’t the third time the charm? So she set out to capture one again. She had a good idea of where they liked to eat early in the morning and she knew how to approach them now, so that part shouldn’t be too hard. She packed a bag full of equipment to make her plan even easier. She packed a small trowel to dig up plants, her watering jug filled with water, some sweets, her breakfast, a book for reading, and her homemade leash and halter to bring home the Uruu with and set off to the meadow where she had gone previously. She arrived at the dew covered meadow before the sun had risen and found it empty of uruus. It was the perfect time to start her plan. She settled her bag at a the base of a tree and grabbed the trowel. She dug up plants from around the meadow, making sure to never take two that were close to each other and replanted them around her chosen spot. After she had surrounded her spot with plants that the uruu’s liked best, she watered them, using her magic to help them live. At least she hoped she had, she was still in the trial and error phase of her magic. Then she went around the meadow and attempted to remove the signs that she had modified it, with mixed results. That done she settled down to wait for the uruus to arrive. As the sun crept up the uruu’s started to arrive. Her presence spooked some of them, even though she was sitting in the middle of a their favorite foods. Torcha waited patiently for one to come close and not be afraid of her. Her patience was paid off when, around mid-morning, an uruu came trundling out of the woods and simply came over to her patch and started to munch on the plants right next to her. Carefully, she slipped the halter around its body. It must have been someone’s pet previously because it showed no care to having a halter put around it.
“Capture successful!” Torcha exclaimed as she disturbed the uruu’s eating by picking it up and squeezing it.

The rest of the day was spent with the uruu as torcha wandered about after it as it roamed around on its leash. As the afternoon came and went she started to gently pull it in the direction of the camp. She decided to get it to safety in its new home before her silly tribesmen saw it and decided to eat her uruu. Again. She got her new pet into its enclosure safely and then ran off to do her chores as quickly as possible so she could get back to playing with her new pet. For the next two weeks, she got the uruu used to following her around on a leash, and to her attention. She adored picking up her pet and hugging it, it was so fluffy! After two weeks of attention, Torcha decided it was time for the test! she let out the uruu and wandered away on her usual chore path, without a leash! The uruu snuffled around the trotted after her. She only let off the leash for a couple of minutes. The next day she repeated her actions, letting the uruu out with no leash for a little longer each time. A month had gone by, and now the uruu followed her around with no leash at all! The warriors laughed at the sight of a fluff ball following her around, but the Chief only smiled and pulled her braid, saying “its nice to see you taking your time to do this right”. Granny was pleased that Torcha was able to tame her pet, without forgetting her other duties. “Taming is all well and good, but never forget your other responsibilities for new ones” she cautioned. Torcha grinned happily and and continued her taming of her uruu. At the end of the month with a full week gone by and the uruu had not strayed from the camp once, Torcha picked up the uruu female, she had asked granny what its gender was, and said “I name you Fluff.”

Torcha played with Fluff everyday. She had however noticed that Fluff wasn’t that smart. She sat one day next to Fluff’s enclosure and thought. Fluff wasn’t going to be easy to train, if she could be at all. “Well there is no harm in trying to train Fluff, but I think the most she can do is follow me around. How would I train a pet anyway? This needs more researching!” So Torcha went into her tent and grabbed the books Granny had given her about animals, maybe she had missed some information when she was reading it the first time. She spent the rest of the day re-reading her books, but no, she had gotten all the information on the first read through. She did however realise, that Fluff could be taught, but only soon after capture, uruus liked steady, so if you wanted to train them it needed to be soon after taming, else they would associate you with food and safety but not commands. “Drat. I may have left this too late. Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I shall use Fluff as practice for training creatures!” So Torcha spent the rest of the week in attempts at training Fluff to listen to commands other than “come” and “food”. It was not fruitful at all, but Torcha persevered and took notes how how Fluff reacted, planning already for the next creature to catch, tame, and then train. Chief Borshka had said 3 tamed creatures, but Torcha wanted practice training creatures and it was safer to train gentle herbivores than the dangerous creatures she had planned for later. So better to fail training an uruu then to fail training a Notbjaovin. She continued this for another couple of weeks, then the blood moon month came around….Time for different types of fun. Torcha smiled to herself and picked up Fluff “We are going to have fun together, but first lets see if I can find you a friend”
