Moose: Who did Bryne think she was?! Showing up him like that! Waridi normally didn’t compete with his siblings, but how was he ever supposed to shine with a sister like that? She was just too perfect. He couldn’t get an edge around that, and it bugged him.
So, Waridi had done what every adult male should do in that situation – he snubbed his parents talk of him settling down into a steady lifestyle and walked off. They wouldn’t listen to him if he talked about what rank he wanted to take, so there was no point in trying.
Feeling defeated he skulked to the watering hole, and found himself relatively alone, which was odd. Guess it’s an odd time of time. Oh well, more time to think….joy.
nessiaing: Adri was seated at the watering hole finally feeling a little more settled. She of course had met Waridi the other day and he had made her feel a little more at east. And she had now also met another couple, two scouts Vogel and Bryne. All and all Adri was starting to feel pretty darn good about her choice to come and live in the pridelands.
As she was sitting, sunbathing really she noticed a lion stalk up and sit down looking rather on the grumpy side of things. Upon closer inspection she realized the lion to be Waridi.
She jumped up to her feet excited to see her friend, and yes she already considered him a friend, and made her way over to him. She only paused for about half a second when she thought that perhaps he wouldn't want company. He did look perturbed but she continued on over because she was sure if he didn't want her there he would tell her.
Moose: Kicking the water around with his paw seemed to relieve some of his tension. It was a simple task, something simple without really requiring him to think. Although, when he saw a familiar reflection in the water, Waridi had to look up to see that yes, it wasn’t just his eyes deceiving him, but rather Adri was really coming closer.
It was hard not to smile when he saw the lioness, even if he was sullen today. “Hey, Adri.” Even his voice lacked most of its natural enthusiasm.
nessiaing: "Heya Waridi" Adri said as she plopped down beside the male. She was already comfortable with him enough that she didn't feel like she had to be prim and proper with him. This place wasn't like her old home where women were a prize to have and if they didn't behave could end up with a bad pad or worse.
"Whats go you down?" she asked him, he was clearly not his energetic self. Adri hoped she could make him feel better.
Moose: He reached out to bop her shoulder with his in a sad attempt to be warm. There was still that level of friendly goober hidden somewhere inside, if he could manage to pull it out. “My sister.” Waridi huffed. Kicking one of his hind legs into the water he watched as the ripples pooled around his white paws. “She doesn’t realize it, but she’s a real pain sometimes. Bryne just had to be the one to find a mate first, to become a Scout and now to rub it in, she’s going for Head Scout? I’m happy for her, really I am, but can’t she just quit while she’s ahead?”
If she hadn’t been so damn near perfect maybe he could have had the courage to tell his dream to his parents. Now he was scared to sneeze around them without being compared to his sister. His father was loving, soft and gentle. His mother, though…she was critical and watched him like a hawk.
nessiaing: Adri gulped at the name Bryne, that was the lioness that she had met the other day out near the edge of the pride with her mate. Perhaps she would have realized they were related but a lot of the lions here had similar colorings, so she never put the two together. She did't think now was the time to tell him that she knew her.
"Well at least you can still be happy for your sister. Thats important. But you really shouldn't compare yourself to her, you are two completely different individuals.
"Why don't you spend sometime and just tell me about yourslef?" she felt like the male needed a confidence boost but the last time they had talked it had been all about her. It was time she learned some more about him so she could help bring his confidence level up
Moose: "Maybe". Waridi amended, pondering on it. She had a point; they were both different, but as long as they were under their parents paws they might as well have been one. Not that that would last for long. "About me? What's there to tell?" He gave a short, little laugh. "I've lived here my entire life. My grandfather died in the war with the hyenas, and my grandmother didn't know I existed until I was an adolescent." That hadn't been fun for anyone involved. There had been so much drama that it still made his heart ache to this day. "She and my mother...they were old enemies from another pride. Fate just has a way of messing with things." Still, he couldn't help grinning. "Not that it made them love us any less. If anything, knowing my grandmother might make telling my parents even easier than I thought."
nessiaing: "Wow" Adri was surprised that his family had such history here, and that his grandfather had faught in the war. She was still really uneasy about this whole threat of the hyena's business, she was always going to be fearful of another one of her homes coming prey to a take over. She tried to push the thoughts out of her head, those were worries for another day.
"Well what do you want to be, or do, or become?" His family seemed so concerned about the future, and that may have been why the were favoring Bryne, Adri wondered what it was this male that had caught her fancy had planned... did he have career objectives? Did he want a family? One of those things she found more interesting than the other but she'd listen to both.
Moose: Waridi straightened his spine and looked about him. There was a lot to offer in this land that he didn't normally get to see, since he was so focused with the here and now. "I...okay, you have to promise not to laugh." He felt his cheeks darken and he took another deep breath. "I...want to be a...well, a...a Nanny. Maybe a Storyteller some day, but definitely a Nanny." There. It wasn't necessarily something that his family would be proud of, since he was the only son, but there it was; his nasty secret. "I want a family some day and I want to be able to spend all my time with my cubs. I get along with them really well and they're just kind of adorable, you know?"
nessiaing: Adri's heart melted, could he possibly be this perfect. To her a male that wanted to be around cubs was a dream. Her family was really big on everyone being envolved in the cubs life, but not all pads were like that. "I think that is a very worth while job to do. Cubs are the future of our civilization they are the most important thing we can offer to the world." Adri couldn't imagine anyone else thinking this way, and she felt sad that Wadridi wasn't prouder of his dreams.
"I think I want cubs some day too. A whole bunch, I came from such a big family and it was so much fun." She looked over at Waridi with dreamy eyes. She wasn't sure if she had done much to lift his spirits but he certainly had gotten her dreaming
Moose: Waridi wasn't expecting that kind of reaction. He turned to look at her, his eyes wide with something akin to shock before his tension started to melt away. "You're serious? I..I think so too!" He was full fledged smiling now. "We owe them the world, and they're so innocent, so I don't see the harm in coddling them while you teach them. It's the best job in the world." To him there just wasnt any other route. He was a goofball who wanted to play with other goofballs, but he was strong enough to protect them. And with encouragement like this...Adri was seriously too good to be true sometimes. "My family is on the small side, but I'd like to see it grow! I want cubs as far as the sun can see and beyond. I can't imagine a better future." When he looked over at her and saw those eyes he felt his heart skip a beat. He had a lot to think about now, and he suspected most of it wouldn't be able his career path. "I think I should get to seeing about how to become a Nanny. Do...Would you, maybe, wanna meet back up here again, sometime?"
nessiaing: "Yes" Adri answered quickly. "Tomorrow same time?" she was sad to see Waridi leave, but happy that he had asked to see her again.
She was pretty sure she had lifted his spirits too so she was feeling pretty darn good about herself. She slowly made it back to her spot where she was sun bathing, very happy about her choice to come and live in this pride.
