Moondance was looking forward to spending the day with her uncle, Revenant. He was a true romantic, outwardly stoic, yet inwardly a raging storm of passion. It was the feeling that she tried to convey in her dancing. Perfect, precise movements that still displayed her raw emotion. It was difficult for her to understand that she was still learning. She wanted to be perfect right now. Often, she got frustrated and quit her practices early, storming out in a rage. Maybe if she spent some time with Revenant, some of his composure would rub off on her.

It really was needless to say that Revenant was intensely fond of his adorable nieces and nephew. He still admired Pale Moonlight so much for his poise, and Aurora was such a lovely lady. They really had some very beautiful children, all of which were very gifted themselves. He was more than happy to spend time with them when the newlyweds needed a little alone time themselves- so today he had Moondance coming over.
Which required certain arrangements- the center of his modest living room cleaned up, old oak coffee table pushed aside so there was plenty of hardwood for expressive little hooves to dance across. His antique turntable was set up and playing softer music, though more records were available should a different mood strike his niece.

Music greeted Moondance as she walked in. Something entrancing was playing. She looked at the turntable and watched the record spin around. It wobbled slightly and the arm holding the needle dipped up and down. It really was a novelty to see one of these things going, but if anyone would have one, it would be Revenant. She smiled. It seems that he went though the trouble of rearranging the entire room just for her. It felt like a more intimate version of the dance studio she went to. "Thanks for having me over," she said. Her uncle was such a classy guy. Moving to the center of the room, Moondance swayed back and forth in time to the record. "Did you want to dance with me?"

The stallion bent his knee, bowing towards his niece with a smile. It was always fun to play up the gentlephony role towards the little ones, and especially to Moondance who appreciated his efforts to be genteel.
"Of course, my dear." Revenant wasn't an expert at the art, but he had put effort into knowing something about all of the gentle ways. Dancing was just one of them, and a rather enjoyable one with such fine company present.

She moved in closer. Usually her dance partners were closer to her size, so she wasn't exactly sure what to do about the height difference. She stood on her hind legs and wrapped the front two around Revenant's neck. It... kind of worked... it was a little awkward for her though. "We've been learning different styles of dance in class. Currently, we're learning ballroom dancing. Do you know how to Waltz? It fits the meter of this music." She thought it was easier to ask him to Waltz than to ask his help practicing her ballet moves. A lot of the stuff done with a partner would be too complicated for a newbie. Anything fancy was even still to complicated for her.

"That I do, though I suspect we should take this slowly." The height difference did make dancing a bit of a challenge, but Revenant could stoop low a little to help, hooves carefully positioned to support the little filly.
"There we go- have you grown since the last time I've seen you? You are going to be just as elegant as your mother, I know it." Good genes were in the family for excellent performers and genteel manners. Well... then there was TACO, but Revenant didn't try to think of that. His mother Taquita came out wonderfully despite it all.

It took a few steps for Moondance to get into rhythm. "Really? Do you really think I'll be as graceful as mom?" She had twinkles in her eyes. Well, you know, not literally since she wasn't a Twinkle Eye phony. But if she could twinkle, she would have been dazzling in that moment. Moondance was mystified by her mom. She loved her dad's expansive family too, but her mom really held that top spot in her heart. Pale Moonlight's family members seemed to turn out either one of two ways: wild and bizarre, or refined. There wasn't really any middle ground. While her mind was wandering, Moondance lost track of her steps, and slipped. She teetered awkwardly on one hoof for a moment before losing balance and falling over completely. It felt like slow motion to her as her face moved toward the ground. Her short life flashed before her eyes. And then, smack! She hit the floor. She was stunned for a moment, and then she sprung up. The only thought running though her mind was, 'This is the most embarrassing thing ever! I can't take it; I have to get out of here!' Like lightning, Moondance bolted out the door. She might not have been good at dancing, but she was a master of running from her problems.

The music faded from mind, Revenant's response of reassurance that Moondance would grow up like her mother vanished as he watched the little filly fall from his hooves in slow-motion. He didn't even have time to ask if she was injured before the filly was up and running out the door- leaving one very shocked ghostly phony behind.
His stunned state lapsed quickly with a yell of 'wait!', Revenant taking off after Moondance. Oh dear, the poor girl was every bit as sensitive as he had been when he was young. His hopes that she would be sulking right outside the door were quickly dashed, Revenant looking down both sides of the street and not seeing a trace of his niece. Oh no. He could only set off after Moonlight and Aurora's home and hope she was running there.

Once she hit outside, Moondance just kept running. She had no clue where she was going, but it was the one thing all phonies were good at, running. There was no way for her to mess that up. She wasn't sure how long she kept going, but eventually she slowed down. Maybe she had been just a little too hasty. She liked her uncle, and didn't want to make him even more upset with her. It was bad enough that she fell, but running away wasn't going to solve the issue. Moondance was embarrassed before, but now she felt double embarrassed, super embarrassed even. It was too impulsive for her to run off like that. She had better head back and tell him that she was sorry. At this rate, she was never going to grow up into a graceful, elegant lady. She just knew she was doomed to stay a clumsy foal forever.

Oh dear, oh dear. Revenant couldn't help but feel like he was wasting time circling his brother's home, looking in the dark windows to confirm it was just as empty as he feared. Drat- even if someone else were home, Belldandy or Aurora or something, one of them might know where Moondance would run off to when she was distressed. The ghostly phony sighed heavily, brow knit as he finally decided to check elsewhere, nervous glances sent over his shoulder just in case he spotted a streak of blue and white.
How could he let her run away like that? What if she tripped again and hurt herself in her distress? Or if she fell into a ditch and couldn't get out? Oh he'd never forgive himself if anything happened to her, much less what her parents might do.

Moondance arrived at Revenant's house, only to find it empty! He left so soon? What if he went to tell her mom are horrible of a phony she was? What if he went to try to find her? He could be out wandering in the woods and it was getting dark! She was starting to panic, and began to jump to even worse conclusions. What if he was died in the woods and it was all her fault?!

Well, at the very least Moondance wouldn't have to wait too much longer. Revenant was in a right hectic state, normally carefully-groomed hair windswept and wild as he pushed through his front door. He had been after his phone to call up Prowl and report the missing child and gather up a search party. Instead he was struck still, staring at the very filly he had been searching so frantically for.
"Oh Moondance," And just like that he was across the room, sweeping his little niece up into a hug, "I was so worried- why did you run off like that?"

"Uncle Rev! You're not dead!" It would have seemed like a strange thing for her to shout. But she was relieved that she was worried over nothing. Moondance gave him a great big hug back. "I ran away because I thought you wouldn't like me anymore because I slipped and fell. But I know now that that's not true because you went out looking for me. I'm really sorry I overreacted; I didn't mean to make you worry. Can you forgive me?"

The ghostly stallion hugged her closely as she apologized, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Of course my dear, of course. And I would never dislike you for slipping- we learn from our mistakes, and everyone makes them. It's no reason to run away. I'm just glad you're not hurt. Did you still want to stay the night here?" It had been quite a wild ride- he wouldn't blame Moondance for wanting her mother and father, and he knew his brother well enough that he'd cancel his plans without a second thought in order to take care of any of his children.

"No, I still want to stay with you tonight! Thanks for sticking with me." She was really glad she had family that cared about her. Moondance would try to not be as hasty to flee when she made a mistake. It was a problem she seemed to have a lot, and she knew she needed to work at it. It was great that her family would be there to help her learn.
