The training grounds were where he'd seen the most other trainees gather. Honestly, Rex was half nervous around Intermediates and Hunters. Mainly because he was here to find a sparing partner. Maybe one that would stick around for a while and they could both learn the tricks of the trade and how to control their weapons. Airheart was at his hip, tucked away onto the holster he'd made for her and not saying anything for once. Once he got to his destination, Rex hung around the sides, observing some of the training that was going on. He whistled, impressed and just grinned. It made him itch to just dive head first, but no. He needed someone by themselves, someone that looked like a trainee. He knew how to spot the difference, but he still messed up. "Man, someone should be here that doesn't have a partner, right?" "Only you think like that. Who would want to team up with an idiot like you?""No one was asking you." Airheart didn't say anything else, but he could feel her laughing at him and he just grumbled wordlessly.

Finley had been in the middle of some solo-training when the sudden urge to take a short break had made itself known. Really, training by yourself wasn't very fun at all - by now, the huntress was well aware that she much preferred sparring with someone else to training on her own. For one thing, it was much easier when there was someone else to help point out your mistakes. And fighting on one's own really didn't make the adrenaline pump in the same way as a good spar did! Which was why she instantly eyed an opportunity when she saw the other trainee observing the training ground. Aha! Target acquired, Finley sidled over, just a little too close for comfort and sent the lad the biggest smile she had. "Hiya! All on your own, talking to yourself and whatnot?"

Talking to himself? Rex's brown eyes locked with the girl and he shrugged with a sigh. "I might be. Helps improve the memory, ya know?" Rex was teasing her a little before holding out his hand to her, stepping closer. "Rex Marksley, ma'am. Observer extraordinaire, it seems." After shaking her hand, Rex put his hands on his hips and just beamed. She was another trainee. So he didn't have to tense up or feel awkward asking her. "Say, ya wanna spare one on one? I saw you out there, looked pretty good, but.. Sparin's always better when ya got yourself a partner." At least, he thought so. Through the link he could practically feel Airheart's disdain. Well tough luck, sweetheart.

"I didn't, as it happened," Finley laughed before giving his hand a quick shake. "Finley O'Byrne, nosy Mist trainee. I make no excuses." Her grin was broad and slightly impish. Taking a second to pretend to think about his question, she tapped her lip with a finger in mock contemplation, "hmm! Why, sure." She tilted her head, "that was actually what I was gonna ask you, so that really couldn't fit any better, could it?" It was great fortune to find another trainee up for a spar, and a new acquaintance to boot!

Nosy wasn't necessarily a bad thing, especially when you were a Death trainee. He laughed a bit as she agreed to spar. Hot dang, he was excited about this one! Smiling like the sun had just came out, Rex seemed to psych himself up. "Awesome. That's great. But uh, I don't know what 'm doin', so ya might have ta teach me 'f ya don't mind." He knew how to shoot, but he didn't know how to fight with a gun. He realized that he couldn't always rely on his weapon, so he really needed to learn how to fight close range.

She mirrored his smile, excitement catching quickly. "Alright, well," she cocked her head to the side, considering, "first we decide who goes first, you or me, and then when we're ready we just fight. Annnd we can set limitations too, or regulations I guess you could call it; like, no charged attacks or no kicks or whatever fits? I guess no kicks doesn't make much sense though, there's probably not a lot of situations where you wouldn't be able to kick but you'd still be able to move."
