Shalott honestly thought she was going to die. The hole in her side was very large and she'd already lost so much bloody she was dizzy. Camelot managed to get her back to camp but her condition was dire. It wasn't like they could go to the hospital with this kind of wound and Painite very aware of who she really was, who both she and Camelot were. She'd lost so much already there wasn't much further down she could go. No one else in camp could help her.
Really, Xander was their only choice.
"Shang," she groaned. "Shangri-la."
Someone made her comfortable on a cot. Camelot couldn't stay, there was Sarah to be attended to and she couldn't see her mother this way. Someone had the decency to write to the doctor and Knight to alert him to her presence and need for help, and the urgency of the situation. It would have come from Shalott herself but she wasn't the most coherent person at the moment.

Shang had been on his way with supplies for the Oasis, when he got the message. It made him rush along, but he knew he couldnt power up until he was far enough outside of the city limits, so he prayed Shallott would be okay until he got there.
When he finally did come he came charging and see the blood lost and the large wound in her side, it didn't take more that a blink in time to get him moving and shouting orders.
He called for a local anesthetic, gauze, antiseptic, and thread for stitches always the dissolving kind. In this war they often couldn't be bothered to stop to get stitches taken out.
"Hey Shalott, I'm here. I'm going to get you patched up okay. Just stay awake okay. And I apologize but even after I administer the anesthetic this may still hurt."

Shalott had a high fever from trying to fight to stay awake and the shock that was surely in place to keep her from feeling the overwhelming pain. It took her longer than it should have to recognize him. She tried to smile at him and grit her teeth in a wave of pain. Thank God they had a doctor among their ranks; she'd be more thankful for that later.
"Xander...I didn't think..you'd get...here...in time."
She leaned back and trusted him implicitly. She should; he'd been someone she liked talking to in this war and they'd seen eye to eye on some important things, shared similar experiences. His apology didn't mean much. Either he could help or he couldn't and at that point she wasn't sure which she wanted. She wanted Tony to be there by her side. Or Harmony. Or even her smart a** of a son, Nathan.
"If it's too late..." She touched his arm. "If it's too late that's ok. I'll be with Harmony then."
The whole thing made her unbelievably sad and angry. She wasn't telling him not to try but that she was ok if she was beyond his help.
