 Lockes
It's a very odd position to find yourself walking down a forest path one moment minding your own business, when suddenly another like yourself, crashes out from the wilderness into your path. It's an even more strange position to find your perfectionist nature come out in this situation, for low and behold the Soquili before you, happens to have a bit of mud on his flank.
Lockes really never meant anything by how she wiped at it, she just wanted to get rid of imperfection on the stallion's coat. But, oh, then it smudged and she was going to wipe at it again, but the stallion in question was yelling at her, and goodness knows she was just trying to be helpful and he needn't shout at her so--
And before you know it, you're standing somewhere else. It feels as though you've just recovered from some sort of headache, and you realize, quite alarmingly, that your hooves and ankles are covered in thick blood. The blade that you occasionally use to cut down wayward branches trees is covered with blood also. How horrifying!
This has happened before. Lockes thought, and she suddenly found herself remembering several other incidents similar to the one that she was faced with now. It was always similar. She would try to help another Soquili with their imperfection in their appearance, they wouldn't accept her help, and then she'd be somewhere else, with blood coating her body and her blade. She'd never been able to figure out why such things happened, and no matter how hard she tried, she'd never been able to find the Soquili she'd met previously.
Looking around now, it seemed like the mud spotted stallion, was no different. He was gone, and she didn't fancy looking for him in the situation she found herself in. If he thought she was odd by trying to clear mud from his flank, surely he would think her insane if she approached him again with her current appearance.
"How odd." She spoke aloud, and then sighed. Well, it was past time to wash this blood out. She didn't want other Soquili to get the misimpression that she was violent.
She picked up her blade between her teeth, holding it by the handle, which was the least blood-stained of the entire blade. Lockes proceeded to walk away from the bloodied clearing, in search of running water.
She was happy to find that she didn't have to walk for long, as she was soon at a slow-moving river. It was deep enough to wash away the blood on her ankles, and she gave a sigh of relief. How fortunate for her. Setting her blade on the shore, she waded into the river, and she tried to think back on what had happened again. Maybe she could solve these mysterious happenings.

(( For Stats Staffer: My Teepee ))Lucky for this one that Allegro never judged based on first appearance, or hardly anything else at all. Instead, he had a tendency to walk head first into things without realizing the trouble they could potentially be. Which was precisely why he would approach Lockes without any sort of hesitation. She did not seem all that imposing from the back anyway. Just a mare with a light coated mare with very yellowy thick curls of mane and tail. Dark markings too, but he could not make out precisely what they were from this distance.
The pink stallion had been passing by and heard her muse aloud about something and could not help but come look. Her appearance did seem a bit macabre, now that he was able to better make things out...what with the dead bears. He had come across the bloodied clearing but not thought anything of it, let alone that this mare might be connected. Looks did not define another being after all. Allegro had come across plenty of others that looked far scarier than they actually were. Even the stallion himself had been judged to be quite different than he was on several occassions simply because had a very pink coat. (Something that he once resented but thanks to a certain hippogryph mare that was no longer the case.)
It had probably been some predator, likely a bear, getting a bit rough with its meal. He approached the river, and Lockes, making a bit more noise than he normally would; she would probably hear the grass, dirt and gravel crunching as he came closer. The last thing he wanted to do was frighten her off by seemingly suddenly appearing behind her. Something most soquili did not appreciate that in his experience. He stepped over the blade on the bank as he headed into the water, not even registering its presence. Which in hindsight might prove to be a mistake.
"Pardon me for intruding. Just thought I would stop for a drink." That usually worked as a safe neutral opening line, and besides he was thirsty anyway. Allegro's smile was open and friendly when he stepped up into her view a little upstream of her. "Taking a break too?" If not that then she was certainly up to something that she seemed rather intent on. He leaned down and dipped his muzzle into the water to take a drink, thankfully it was comfortably cool and not tepid. It was only then that he noticed the blood flowing downstream away from the mare's hooves. That certainly was not old blood flaking off...
His ears perked up and he snorted softly, very nearly snorting water. "You aren't hurt...are you?" There was a measure of real concern in his voice. If the mare was and it was serious she could be in some real bad trouble; he was no unicorn nor did he have any healing skill. Nor did he know anyone easily reachable who was. This could prove to be very bad indeed.

 Lockes
Lockes ears perked up at the sound of something behind her. Raising her head from where it had been nearby her knees, she looked up and around her. Her eyes found another Soquili. It was another stallion; not the stallion she had met previously. She wondered if there was any relation between the two, or if it was just a popular area to be walking about in.
When he spoke she simply gave a small nod of response. She wondered how she looked, what with all of this blood about her, but he didn't remark about it. Could it be that he hadn't noticed? Or was he just to polite to mention it? She wondered if she was mistaking politeness for being scared. Then again, maybe she was just over-thinking the entire situation.
Over-thinking, indeed. You're coated with blood from the knees down, Lockes. She reminded herself. You're hardly over-thinking this.
Before she could continue any line of thought she may've possessed, the stallion was speaking again. He'd asked a question and she'd missed it.
"What was that?" She asked, moving her eyes back to the stallion, from where they'd fallen to the stream in concentration. As she looked at him, she took in the smoothness of his coat, which wasn't dirtied like the first stallion she'd met that day. How good of him, to maintain it so well.
Then, another question was asked. She was able to catch this one and process this one. So, he'd finally asked about the blood. She could hear the concern in his voice as he asked whether or whether not she was hurt. How considerate of him! Or... Maybe he was just concerned for his on well-being. Really, there was nothing to fear. She didn't hurt other Soquili! What a ridiculous notion! Oh, right. There was his question to answer.
"No, I don't think I'm hurt. If I am, I suspect the blood has already dried by this point. This blood..." She glanced down at her knees, and looked back up the pink stallion, "I don't know where it came from, but it's not mine, I promise." Said the mare with a small smile as she observed her companion. She gave a small pause, and then gave a small gasp, "Oh, I'm sorry. I've forgotten my manners. My name is Lockes, what's yours?"

Truth be told it was the rain who took better care of his coat than he did most of the time. The pink stallion tromped through many areas without regard for how dirty he would get and it would be up to rain or a deep enough river to wash it all away. Which realistically did not happen often enough The only one who had any real regard as to his cleanliness was Zuleikha and that was purely for superficial reasons, according to her he looked better when cleaned up.
The question she had missed was just small talk, so he wasn't truly concerned about its answer - it was the answer to the next he had been worried about. "That's good....that you aren't bleeding I mean." The pink stallion was visibly relieved to find out it was not her blood. So there were no worries about her practically bleeding out in front of him. And Lockes already answered his next question that would have been forthcoming - the source of said blood. Should he be concerned about not knowing? He really was not sure...
"Allegro." This mare did seem pretty nice, despite what some might consider oddities.belloblossom Sorry if it double quotes. Fixing typos and stuff.

 Lockes
Lockes could understand why this stallion was so fussy in concerns to the blood on her ankles, but she couldn't understand his concern towards her. She never seemed to understand the minds of others very well. Her own daughter stopped talking to her ages ago, for reasons she found impossible to understand. They were family, weren't they? Family were supposed to stick together.
I wonder how she's doing... Thought Lockes with a sigh. She also wondered about what her daughter looked like now, all grown up and mature. With a sinking feeling in her stomach, it occurred to Lockes that she had entirely forgotten what her daughter looked like.
She smiled at the pink stallion when he spoke again, telling her that it was good that she wasn't bleeding. She gave a light chuckle and nodded, "Yes, I certainly agree with you on that." Said she.
Then, the pink stallion revealed his name. Her ears perking up, Lockes smiled and nodded a second time. "Allegro, hm? What a lovely name." She declared.
The stallion fell silent after naming himself, and Lockes followed his example. She didn't mean to risk bothering him, after all. Besides, she had her knees to attend to. She raised each of her hooves, inspecting them for any traces left of blood. As she was doing this, a question came to mind. Maybe Allegro had seen the stallion she'd tried to assist earlier.
"Allegro, I don't suppose you've seen a stallion around these parts? He would've been a light tan color, with a green mane and tail, and green eyes. I'm not sure if it would still be there, but he also had a spot of mud on his coat. I met him earlier... Have you come by anyone like that?" She asked her pink companion.

Allegro looked thoughtful, considering what he recalled of those he had met in the general area. Most encounters had been fairly brief, and no one really matched the description the mare gave. "I don't believe I have. Sorry." He sorted softly and scruffed a hoof into the bed of the creek. "Doesn't mean they aren't still around though...could be resting somewhere or traveling ahead of me so I hadn't run into them yet." She seemed a bit concerned about this other mystery stallion. Perhaps he was a friend of hers?
"We can always good look together for a bit, if you like." In this case it seemed like an extra pair of eyes couldn't hurt. Assuming she welcomed the help anyway.belloblossom If you don't wish to continue this RP any further its alright, just let me know. I'm sorry to have left you hanging for so long. x_x;

 Lockes
Oh, this rosy hued stallion certainly was a delight! Such a generous soul was he, to offer to look for the mud-stained stallion she'd met earlier. Lockes was touched by his offer, for the mare rarely had such kindness placed upon her from others, even such a little thing as this was.
"Why, yes, Allegro." Said Lockes to her new companion."I'm quite inclined to agree and I accept your offer, which was most generous of you to suggest. "
With this, she got from the water and stepped daintily from the stream, droplets of water rolling off of her fur and onto her hooves. Stamping her hooves lightly to dissuade such water from keeping on her feet, she then looked to Allegro and then passed him, towards the way she had most likely come from.
"Let's head in that direction, shall we? I have a good feeling about it." She suggested, inclining her head forward just so much that she didn't notice the crow flying in that very direction who was called to it by the scent of carrion. mistalina13 No, that's alright. I suspect that this RP can be wrapped up in a few posts anyway. They can either find a trail of blood or the body itself, Lockes can violently remember what she did and either she or Allegro can be the first to flee the scene. Sound alright to you?
