What's your availability like? I'm generally available in the mornings and evenings; i'm currently unemployed, and my only responsibilities are studying for the GRE (Graduate Readiness Exam) and taking care of my horses (usually done around 12pm through 3-4pm PST). Once I do manage to find a job, my availability would likely switch to purely in the evenings after I get off work.
When is the best time to get a hold of you? This varies day to day, though I am almost always online between 8-9pm PST. I get email alerts from Gaia on my phone, so I can be reached any time even if i'm not at my laptop.
The only exception to this is if I am on a trail-ride and the cell service may not allow my phone to receive emails beneath trees, but that would only be an hour or two at a time and i'd certainly be back in communication shortly.

Have you worked in any shops before? If so, which ones and how long and what was your job?
I have not yet worked for any shop in a supporting staff position. I have been around the B/C since 2004, so like many others I have attempted to create and run my own shop before. I briefly (6 months) tried to run a shop solo in the past (8 years ago, when I was 14 years old), though I quickly found that due to a lack of general interest and my school commitments at the time I was unable to do so. I was only allowed online on weekends, so generating interest was difficult for me to do. I had one active colorist and then there was me at the time, those I had wished to hire ended up going on hiatus shortly after, and my first event had little to no interest because my Halloween pets were rather... traditional or monochrome. Although I had greatly enjoyed setting up the shop front and outfitting the mule, I did not have the maturity or the dedication at the time to devote myself so fully to something that people seemed uninterested in (I had free games, raffles, puzzles, and an auction...) when school was eating me alive. I sold it for my purchase price to a willing and dedicated owner, and I think the shop is still around (Conseil de Lanterne, as a matter of fact).
My inspiration to try coloring pets of my own was in fact to some day work at Soquili, though I did not make it far in that respect using only my mouse and the Photoshop pen-tool. Family issues, college, and my personal life have caused many hiatuses (some unofficial or unannounced) over the years. Those issues combined with the carpal tunnel in my right wrist have left little time for pursuing that dream. As an adult, I have been perfectly happy to interact with our wonderful community and the friends I have made here, though I would love to help out in any way I can.

As far as professionalism goes, that trait is more often displayed in my volunteer positions in the "real world", as on Gaia I tend to me more excited and excitable. I don't think I overstep any bounds, but I have done some *Flyingtackleglompleshnuggleluff*-ing in my days.

Do you like to read? Yes! I used to essentially consume books. I read through my entire public library, the library at my Aunt's house the summer I spent with her, and my primary expense (i.e. what i'd spend my birthday money on) was books. xd After my freshman year in college, I stopped reading to focus on my academics (I did get a 4.0 GPA freshman year, though my only 'break' was reading a book and I was obsessive about not just studying that year). I'd read only on breaks or as a reward.
Now, I sometimes... post-stalk RPs here for fun. >.<;; *cough*
Are you able to read a little bit every day, or at the very least a lot every week? Yes! Even if one day gets a little unexpectedly busy, I can always catch up at some point during the week.
How well do you know soquili shop rules, particularly concerning the RP environment? I am familiar with the shop rules, though to be honest I did re-read them after this hiring event began to make sure that I am remembering them correctly.

Including this in the interests of full disclosure, though it is not relevant to my understanding of the current RP environment and well-written-and-clarified rules with Guidebook.
There was one event over the course of my involvement with the shop these past 7 years in which I did not understand or "pushed the boundaries" of the rules, and behaved in an inappropriate manner:
(In 2008, when I was 17). I was confused about the whole "plot" thing and how we could claim something had happened when it hadn't been RPed through. I had an idea for a character that would require a traumatic childhood event, and wanted to play it through although I had received the mare as an adult and so she had no foal-stage. I think this may have pre-dated the OOC RP forum?, and any clear-cut rules about this. I reacted to a PM from staff after I had already made plans with other users poorly by posting what was essentially a whine in the main thread, and the negative reactions by people off-site that were brought to my attention by someone on that forum actually lead to a personal hiatus from gaia for a while. However, I am no longer that person (by which I mean I would not "rant" about a response from someone, especially a shop staff-person, who was only trying to be helpful), and after clarifications were made public and I had time to process them I completely understood. If more details are desired, I will provide them via PM; I figured that I may as well mention this since it was a negative occurrence even if it was 6 years ago and the reaction of a child. I'd never have behaved that way in "real life" even then, and it is wholly out-of-character for me now. It's a part of my past here, though I only remembered it when traveling down memory lane about my failed attempt at shop ownership and everything that has happened here over the years.
When I returned after that hiatus, I was making a conscious effort to be only positive here, and leave any negativity out of the forums entirely.
I'm now comfortable sharing both good and bad when appropriate, and I hope anyone reading this understands why I would state something like this openly.

In your own words, what's the shop stance on soquili possessing magical powers? Certain breeds possess natural magical traits due to genetic mutation or mystical interference, though those "powers" may not be used or abused to the point of God-modding in RP. Those with powers are closely monitored to ensure that they do not overstep those bounds, just as RPs with non-magical characters are monitored to ensure that they follow basic shop rules. For example, the Angeni have a Power Application thread and all users interested in gaining abilities must post their application and have it carefully reviewed by staff before their powers are allowed to become cannon. So, "Specific magical powers are okay for certain breeds, but don't go crazy." xd
In your own words, what's the shop stance on dark angeni or less vicious skinwalkers? A purely "Dark" Angeni or a wholly "less vicious" Skinwalker would be solid No-can-do.
Any Angeni who are of a darker nature must have a believable positive aspect to their "dark Domain"- they can't be purely vicious or truly evil. For example, the Angeni of Bones can NOT be sadistic/brutal and/or enjoy murdering others to collect their bones, but they could potentially use their powers for the good of others by... fortifying bone strength (going out on a limb here xD).
Less vicious skinwalkers could be achieved if their natural animal-form is not entirely blood-thirsty, or their personal character is more likely to attack verbally before physically... they obviously couldn't stop attacking because they'd formed some sort of emotional bond to their intended prey (emotional attachments are a no-no), but they could feasibly not react viciously because they were full and a little sleepy (and thus didn't need to hunt for food or pleasure). A "naturally" calm/collected/non-violent Skinwalker who never angered or got vicious would be... outside the realm of possibility.
Why do you think you'd be a good fit as Soquili Staff? I'm currently writing this while my boyfriend plays his guitar. I've wanted to work here since I first got engrossed in the shop and realized that real people were actually operating this whole thing (I know... I was young), and though I have grown up a lot since then I have also come back time and time again for my characters here and the personal relationships I have formed. I've watched the shop go through multiple hands and management, and I can honestly say that although Felmino was an absolute saint things have never been better than under current management. I believe that this is due to the support system staff surely have, and the ability to share responsibilities to prevent anyone from being overwhelmed or help take the pressure off if they are. I'd love to be a part of it.
Why do you think you'd be a good fit as an Assistant RP Manager? I would of course need some training, so an Assistant position would be a perfect avenue for that sort of apprenticeship. However, I would also genuinely enjoy helping someone else out.
I am currently going through another transitional period in my life (college graduate WOO!, applying for graduate school in the coming years, seeking employment) it would be a way to ease myself into this dream while ensuring that I do not prematurely take on any more than I can handle while still being as useful as possible. If hired, I would expect a burst of energy and re-reading all the Soquili material I can, possibly accompanied by essentially stalking the appropriate forums for more work (stories to read), before settling into a more calm working routine.
I may go through periods of reluctant muses or no time to write, but even then I still enjoy reading others' work. I feel that I would be a great fit for an assistant RP manager position because I would enjoy what I do, and yet be extremely careful and courteous when approaching any possible infringements.
Will you communicate regularly with Uta concerning RP and Shop Lore, particularly when there are issues or questionable content? Yes! If I can't find the answer myself, i'd certainly ask for clarification, but I would also double-check any self-written explanations with her before coming to any firm conclusions. When it concerns the exceptions and "hazy areas" I may have the wrong instinct right off the bat, and would take no offense if I am corrected (For example, that Angeni of Bones example up there was me trying not to use a domain that already existed to avoid stepping on anyone's toes xD). The RP guides we have now are an excellent resource, though they can't replace speaking with their creators.
Do you want to help world build with Uta, help judge RP events, and aid Uta in making the RP world fun? Ooo... yes! Oh goodness, that sounds so fun.
I love idea-generating, and though I may get a little carried away with excitement I can be easily re-grounded or spun around and set off in a different direction.

Have you worked in any shops before? If so, which ones and how long and what was your job? I worked at the Faekat Adoption Agency from approximately September 2006 - March 2009, and off-and-on besides. I primarily worked as a colorist there, but I did help out with some events. I also worked briefly at Dragonflight as a role-play manager. During my (short) tenure there, I assisted with running shop events, wrote hatchling personalities, approved profiles, and coordinated a Hatching event in the shop owner's absence, to name a few responsibilities.

Do you like to read? I have been reading almost my entire life, and I have had books read to me my entire life. In short, a resounding yes. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes.
Are you able to read a little bit every day, or at the very least a lot every week? Absolutely.
How well do you know soquili shop rules, particularly concerning the RP environment? I know the Soquili role-play environment very well. I have a particular focus on rules that relate to the RP environment.
In your own words, what's the shop stance on soquili possessing magical powers? Is the Soquili in question visibly manifesting a power? Thee is a thread to get such powers approved. Otherwise, Soquili is a low magic setting, in the sense that breeds have their own unique abilities. Pure, domained angeni in particular manifest domain powers that could be interpreted as magical powers, but are limited to their domains, and are limited in scope. I could probably go through every breeds' powers, but ultimately it is not a high magic setting on the order of Lord of the Rings, or some other comparable fantasy environment.
In your own words, what's the shop stance on dark angeni or less vicious skinwalkers? So, there's a lot of flexibility with how you portray darkness or evil. In the case of angeni, you could have a darker angeni without crossing the line over into pure evil (Shyam need not apply; he is not a domained angeni, to whom the "pure good" rules are applicable). In the case of mixed or undomained angeni, they are not bound by the same restraints that a domained angeni would be. Domained angeni cannot be evil, in the same way that skinwalkers cannot be good.

Skinwalkers, however, can manifest their evil in a myriad of ways. Some skinwalkers may superficially seem less vicious, but may have plots and plans that are wicked in nature. They may be misleading. They may be insane. They may be drawing you in, or seeking followers to fulfill their own agendas. In other words, one size does not fit all. One person's portrayal of evil need not be the same as another person's. However, all skinwalkers, no matter how outwardly vicious, are evil.
Why do you think you'd be a good fit as Soquili Staff? I am a longtime member of the shop, and I feel that my background in writing and anthropology would be helpful to both maintaining a healthy role-play environment, and assisting in creative tasks. I love Soquili, and I want to give back to the community.
Why do you think you'd be a good fit as an Assistant RP Manager? I'm a fast reader, I communicate well with people, and I am able to read with an eye for problem areas. I love world building, and enjoy the creative process generally.

Being in the shop for a long while there are certain breeds that must act a certain way (ie: Skinwalkers/Purewalkers, Angeni, etc.) Each breed in itself is unique, and to see people grow the world within the confines of shop canon is a lot of fun. Of course there are rules to follow and if they’re not followed, it’s the job of the manager/assistant manager to let the owner know that it’s not allowed and needs to be changed.
In your own words, what's the shop stance on soquili possessing magical powers?
Depends. Is it an Angeni? Pure 1st gen Angeni are allowed domains which could be considered “powers.” Pure Ulun’suti are allowed elemental “powers”. However, each is allowed those powers within limited parameters that must be okay’d by Uta herself. Regular soquili are normally not allowed powers except under certain circumstances. There are mutants allowed varying abilities but those soquili are also under limited parameters set by management.
In your own words, what's the shop stance on dark angeni or less vicious skinwalkers?
Angeni can never be truly dark as skinwalkers cannot be truly good. Skinwalkers are vicious beasts who don’t know love, compassion, etc. There are degrees of evil, but at the end of the day, evil rings true. The opposite goes for Angeni. Some can have darker personalities, but they can never actually be evil. They are designed originally to be the opposite of Skinwalkers, pure and true.
Why do you think you'd be a good fit as Soquili Staff?
I’ve been in the shop since 2009 and have wanted to work in the shop for a long time. I love the shop and I love the staff. I feel as if I would be a good fit as I care about giving a good experience to customers, newbie and regular, and want to give back to the shop after all they’ve given me in return. (Support and stress relief from RL.) Like any normal job in RL, I have experience dealing with all different types of customers and co-workers. It’s not just about yourself in a shop and/or in a job; it’s also about teamwork and the happiness that soquili pets bring to people. I feel like I can bring in not only my previous experience in the B/C, my creative writing skills in RL, but also my real life experience working with different people of all different backgrounds.
Why do you think you'd be a good fit as an Assistant RP Manager?
I’ve been writing and creating worlds since I was very small. From playing pretend as a child to writing novels and scripts with world building as an adult I’ve always found a creative outlet in writing. It’s a beautiful thing not only to create something new not just yourself can make, but also see the joy in someone’s face when they take that world and build on it too. I’ve always enjoyed the collaborative effect rping with someone has. You may think of one thing and your partner thinks of something just as awesome if not more and it’s like BOOM utter perfection in the form of words. Writing is my passion. I enjoy rping and world building. And I love it when things come together to create a new, possibly powerful experience to someone else.

What's your availability like? ] I'm online every day for a few hours at least, unless I'm going on holiday then during travel time I won't be able to get on. Starting a new course soon at university, but hours will at worst be 9-6, and will be able to get on before they start in the morning and afterwards. I also tend to check gaia on my phone at various times throughout the night xD I tend to be a bit of a night-owl so I can stay up late etc... till like 3AM some nights (and often do), I don't ever sleep till about 1AM. Weekends I'm free, and during the main holidays (christmas, easter and summer). ^.^

When is the best time to get a hold of you? Any time by PM, because I check gaia quickly throughout the day x3 AIM is reserved for when I'm on my computer, which will be in the evenings/late (but as I'm in the UK, this actually isn't very late for all you US people XD). I am also skype-able at any point throughout the day (and prefer it to AIM 'cause I use it all the time, whereas AIM I just use for gaia).

What timezone are you in? UK time (varies between GMT and BST depending on the time of the year ^.^)

Have you worked in any shops before? If so, which ones and how long and what was your job? I worked at The Race Track for slimycrow for a while as RP manager, was in charge of holding RP events and just trying to keep some RP going in the guild - but there were never a lot of RPers there so there wasn't that much to do. Also ended up co-owner of GSPCA after the original owners left, with Samiuki being the main owner. Tried to kick-start it back up, but Samiuki went MIA and it never really happened. Additionally, I also ran two of my own shops! 1. The Champuu Hut which was fairly successful, had a big starting event but ended up dying out due to a lack of interest. There I was a colourist, certist, shop owner & shop manager - I basically did everything except for RP manager and some of the colouring (because I hired other colourists too x3). 2. PHISH, which I owned fully as well x3 Had two guest colourists but the shop never took off - there was little/no interest in the opening event despite bumping/posting to try and get people's attention xP Ah well.

In summary:
The Racetrack - RP Manager - From 2009-2012ish (but the shop wasn't really working in the later years and there was never much RP)
GSPCA - Co-owner/Manager - Not long, died because co-owner went MIA when original owners passed over the shop to us
The Champuu Hut - Colourist/Certist/Owner/Manager - Roughly a year

How well do you know soquili shop rules, particularly concerning the RP environment? I think I know them fairly well. I've kept up to date with them because I really want to be involved in the shop (and I read a lot about skinwalkers and such when I entered mind's Bear x Bear basket contest; seeing as I got selected I think my knowledge of skinwalkers is pretty good xD). I would of course be ready to read over them again more extensively ^.^

In your own words, what's the shop stance on soquili possessing magical powers?
Most soquili breeds have their own special breed traits, which are stronger in purebreeds. For example, my favourite is the semi-solid bubbles that seathi can blow xD But these range from the lighter bones that enable flight in Winds, to the sickness-inducing magic of kalonas, to human-shape-shifting in first generation angeni and more. Ulun'suti are more complicated - in that they have elements and if the elements are cross-bred, the powers in the offspring are severely weakened. If bred with a non-suti, the powers are almost nonexistant. That should obviously be watched for in RPs ^.^

Additionally, if a Soq has any obvious powers on their cert then they are granted that as a unique power. For example, breathing fire, or having a talking head in their mane or having their feet be made of fire or whatever. These are often small things and don't have too much of an effect. Then, some Soq have pre-approved powers that are not obvious on a cert. For example, if I remember correctly, there is one Soq (I believe it was Jericho) who could control tides under certain conditions. Then on top of that, you get domained angeni who have pre-approved powers as well unique to each domain x3

So, while there is no real "magic" in the sense of Harry Potter style wave-a-wand and boom there you go, there are a lot of magical powers that some Soquili have been blessed with.

In your own words, what's the shop stance on dark angeni or less vicious skinwalkers?
Both of these are fine - but they have to be right according to the applicable angeni/skinwalker rules.

Angeni are fundamentally good, they are polar opposites of skinwalkers. They cannot be evil, all their intentions are for the better. At the very worst, they can be neutral on the good-bad scale, but never evil. Yes, they can have dark domains such as death or poison, but they would never use these powers to intentionally hurt someone. For example, the angeni of death's powers are mostly to do with resurrection from what I remember, with helping people move on/giving them peace. Yes, they can have darker or sadder personalities, but can never be bad.

Skinwalkers, on the other hand, are not just OMG I AM EVIL KILL EVERYTHING - which is a common misconception. They are intelligent, they have feelings and emotions - just not the full spectrum. They don't feel love, it is a weak emotion. They won't feel pity. They are "survival of the fittest" in a nutshell. Each action is selfish, and ultimately only good for them. They don't give a frack about how many people they hurt so long as they profit. Yes, some are brutal murderers who get a kick out of slaughtering and are basically beasts. But not all. I point out Mindsend's Bear, who actually "saves" soquili from traps and befriends them. He looks after them for a while, and then ultimately eats them after fattening them up. So, while skinwalkers are evil and selfish, they can act good and they are normal soquili. They have the same needs as everyone else, and there is a scale of how evil they are. Some don't even like killing that much, they lurk around by themselves and eat whatever prey they come across. Some are intelligent and set traps. Some are outright sadists. Some can act like a giggling love-struck mare to lure in pretty stallions, but deep down they are not. They are evil and dark to the core, and that has to be maintained, but yes, there is a scale.

Why do you think you'd be a good fit as Soquili Staff? Honestly, I love this shop. I just want to see it do well. It's a home to so many people, myself included, and if I can do anything on gaia, I want to see this place thrive. I'm good at managerial positions, I know how to do the grunt work - the making owner's lists, the trawling through data, the setting up threads etc... In fact, I enjoy it. That's why I dug through all those teepees for Faid's cosplay thread and found hundreds of ponies, that's why I recently started working on my own family echo to replace the old one (which I wanted to PM to mind to see if she wanted to link it on the front page or something). I'm good at it and I love it. On top of it, this thread is my home. I know the people, they're my friends. I love them all and want to help them. I'm kind, and patient, and will work to resolve any situations without name-calling or ever rising to abusive PMs. I try to stay calm and explain things calmly, which is exactly the type of person you want after all that drama in the shop's past XD

Why do you think you'd be a good fit as an Assistant RP Manager? I've always enjoyed RPing, even before I came to the B/C community. I used to join warriors RP guilds and post every single day multiple times. It was a blast. I love writing, I love reading other people's writing, and I'd love to be able to help other people with their RPing. I know Uta, I really like her, and would love to work for her. An assistant position would be perfect, I will be able to help the shop and learn how to handle my responsibilities from someone who's being doing it a long time - and I assume there will be a steep learning curve as I figure out exactly what I have to do. I'm dedicated, and love this place. I really want to help out and think I would make an epic kick-a** RP manager xD

Will you communicate regularly with Uta concerning RP and Shop Lore, particularly when there are issues or questionable content? Of course, how could I manage without her? <3 It's always good to have someone to get a second opinion on something, especially if you're unsure about a particular case.
