The pink mare flew high above just under the fluffy white clouds. She’s been flying for hours now and her wings were starting to ache. She glanced down below to find a good landing spot; she noticed an open meadow with a lake. It seemed ideal; almost too ideal…she’d just have to be cautious.
As she landed in open meadow she let out a light sigh while stretching her wings once more before folding them back. It seemed safe so far---not a single soquili in sight. However, a meadow with a water source had to draw some sort of attention. She would rest quickly and then continue her flight before nightfall. Her father would panic if she did not return and he’d probably go as far as sending Lutherian out for her.
She didn’t understand how her father was so overprotective of her. All her siblings were out doing their own thing. Even her closet sibling has moved on with a mate and yet—she still has yet to find anyone! Ophelia approached the lake and glanced down at her appearance, she turned from left to right as she studied her features. She couldn’t be that unappealing? Sure, she wasn’t the prettiest around.
Through the forest next to the meadow eyes were planted on the pink mare. She caught something shimmering wrapped around that mare’s neck and her interest was piqued. The dark mare glanced at her partner with an amused smirk “Hm, what do we got here?”
Chrysalis has been bored lately with having very little contact with others. She was still in search of strong stallions to fill up her army of minions. This mare; however, would not do and she couldn’t simply stand the fact that she could possibly be prettier than she.
Balthier glanced out at the mare “Some pretty little mare? What of it?” He didn’t really see the sense in approaching her. She seemed dainty and prissy---seemed a tad stuck up to him!
“Are you a fool? Do you not see the lovely trinket wrapped around her neck?” She kicked his leg. Honestly, how did she and this brute ever meet in the first place? She was sure there had to be better candidates then him. Sure, he’s been loyal so far but he hasn’t really done anything so far. She still was a kingdom of just them two!
“I have a task!” She grinned.
Balthier who was nursing his leg looked up at Chrysalis “Huh?”
“Steal the trinket! I must have it for my collection!"
Balthier rolled his eyes at the task, such an easy one it almost made him feel like she was mocking him with such a request. Still, he had to do what she says and so he gave a light nod “As you wish, my queen!” he then left the wooded area and headed towards the meadow. He noticed the mare’s guard was down as she looked in the lake. As he stalked towards the mare quietly in a haunch way as if to lower himself close towards the grass. He noticed her turn to look back and he then made his move to approach her “Well hello there! Haven’t seen a pretty thing in days!” he grinned.
His best route was to approach her in a friendly manner and then steal it from her. He couldn’t bring himself to harm a mare. Even if it was for his queen he’d have to put his hoof down on this one.

His father had been bothering him again about getting out there in the world. He honestly didn’t think he needed to. He was perfectly fine with staying at home for the rest of his life, but even his mother was starting to give him the boot some days. He let out a small sigh and still couldn’t believe his brother had children. Supposedly they were both pains in the a** and he could guess where that came from. Though he had to admit, ever since his brother hitched up and had little gremlins of his own he really got to thinking. Maybe it was time for him to try and settle down. Who knew if he ever would though since he didn’t really think of things like finding his soul mate one day.
Flicking his tail in agitation, he was getting tired of trekking around and now he managed to get himself trudging through a meadow. Flowers intrigued him and it was something he would never ever admit that to anyone. His brother had already assumed he had been interested in stallions because of his dainty behavior, but he stomped that idea right out of his head. He paused when he saw something in the distance. A scene he knew he should walk away from and just go on his way except something really caught his attention. It wasn’t the stallion, but the mare. She was pink! He hadn’t met anyone that was close to the same coloration as him and then it started sinking in. She was very familiar to him. Not many others were pink and he was sure he saw that mare before.
Thinking really hard on it, he finally realized it was that mare Ophelia he had met not that long ago. He had nearly forgotten. Slowly approaching the two, he flicking his wings on his back and eyed the stallion at first before taking a short glance at the mare. He remembered their first meeting. She was rather scared of him because he was a kalona and he didn’t blame her. There were so many evil beings out there he would have been wary as well. He immediately noticed the discomfort on the mare’s face and turned his full attention to the stallion. “Are you bothering her?” He asked keeping his head high. He was sure to get some laughs for being a pink kalona. He didn’t care because this guy seemed like trouble anyway.
“She was waiting for me to get here, so you go on your way now.” He said. It was a pure lie and he hoped Ophelia went along with it. He didn’t want to get physical with this stallion, but he would if he had to.

“Um—hello?” she pulled back a few steps to the point that her back hooves were in the lake. He looked a bit on the dangerous side. She noticed his eyes locking on her golden leaf vine and her nerves started run high. She was stupid to drop her guard and now she was paying the price with having unwanted attention by a rugged stallion that she was unsure of his true motives. Something about that smile made her feel he was faking it and those eyes barely even met her own.
Her wing stretched as if she was going to attempt to fly away but the pain shot through her. She still was so tired from flying. She would attempt to escape but her routes were very limited. She wouldn’t have to pass him since she wasn’t the best of swimmers. When another stallion approached the two of them she almost thought it was perhaps a friend of his, which would mean danger for her!
Her bi-colored eyes cautiously glanced at the stallion and a wave of realization went through her. She’s met him before—yes, a kalona? Pinkie? She felt somewhat relieved but also felt she had to be on her hooves “Oh yes. What took you so long?” she nervously said.
The appearance of another was not what he expected. He was male—but also kalona and there was a chance he was a fighter. Most kalona’s he knew were fighters and he himself was part kalona so he knew of the risks. He casted his eyes on the pink kalona “Is that so? Well you shouldn’t leave such a lovely mare unattended!” he laughed and grinned at Ophelia.
“Such a pretty mare with such pretty trinkets!” he said before turning away from them. He wanted to continue out the task but it seemed impossible with there being two again one. He probably shouldn’t count on the mare to fight back. As he stalked off into the woods all he could think about was the yelling he was about to receive from Chrysalis.
Ophelia watched as the other male walked off. She sighed in relief and she shyly glanced up at her savior. He seemed unlike what she pictured being that he was a kalona and she’s heard so many stories about them it frightened her a bit. Still, he seemed different and she shouldn’t go by stories without actually knowing one. She smiled lightly “Thank you, I’m so ever relieved! Pinkie”

The pink stallion watched the other stalk away into the woods and he didn’t take his eyes off him until he was completely out of sight. His purplish pink eyes turned and fell on the mare letting his glare soften on her. He didn’t want to intimidate or scare her away. “Hopefully they don’t come back.” He said to her and he was sure she still didn’t trust him. All the stories that went around like wild fire were enough to scare anyone. He was simply going to have to gain her trust or at least show her that he wasn’t a threat.
“Your welcome. Have you met them before or did they just happen to stumble upon you?” he asked as he let his spiked tail sway around behind him keeping his eyes locked with hers. She was definitely someone that another stallion could easily take advantage of. Many stallions thought that way about mares and he didn’t really like it. “It’s funny stumbling upon you again. What brings you out here all alone?” He asked and was trying to not sound creepy or threatening, but at times he was perceived that way. He didn’t know what their relationship was other then being acquaintances. He didn’t have friends nor did he think he needed any. His father had raised him to only have servants or things of that nature, so he was a little confused at where this mare fit into that line-up. His mother was a servant that turned into a princess after staying with his father. It simply made him wonder.
“I think it would be best if I stuck around for a little while unless you would prefer to be alone.” He didn’t want to impose or make her uncomfortable especially if she could be a potential friend.

“I have never seen him before.” She was unaware of the other partner, though knowing someone else was out there made her silently curse. She probably should work on being alert when alone in an unknown area. She gave a light nod and she too felt it was strange that the two of them bumped into one another again. It’s not like she’s been to this place before and that’s why they’ve ran into eachother—no instead this was a complete different setting and circumstance.
She glanced back at the lake “I was feeling tired, I spot this open meadow and thought this was the best place to land.” Perhaps it was not the best of places and those woods close by probably a home to some of the dangerous soquili. It would make sense since there were barely any soquili out in the open. Ophelia suddenly felt foolish for picking such a spot and the next question he asked made her pause in silence for a moment to think on it and then finally she came up with her answer “I would not find it displeasing to have you in my company.” She spoke in a well mannered voice.

This made the stallion a little weary. They could come back or even worse, follow them. He would keep a close eye in case something like that even happened.
“Ah I see. Then maybe we should find a little alcove or some shade so it’s not so out in the open. We don’t need predators to come attack us or you.” He spoke softly to her. He rarely spoke this much to anyone, but he felt obligated to at least with her. She was one of the few well-mannered mares he had encountered. He would be stupid to not at least try speaking further with her. “Alright good then we should get moving. I didn’t like the look of that stallion.” He was a protective creature by nature. He got it from his father who was always so protective of his mother. He didn’t mind it too much until it really got annoying. He wasn’t a softie and didn’t like appearing as one either.
“You definitely look tired. You wouldn’t have stood a chance against that stallion.” He examined her for a moment as they slowly crossed the meadow. A few trees were in the distance, it was just a matter of getting to them now.

“That sounds like a good idea.” She glanced around looking for some sort of shelter. She was unfamiliar of the area so she was hoping he might know where there was a good spot was? She glanced at the kalona every now and then as if studying him. Her first encounter with him troubled her to the point she was unsure if he was evil or not. She knew she shouldn’t judge without knowing them but it was hard with facts that surround a certain breed. Still, the pink winged mare would have to put her trust in him. He always spoke in a good manner and Rajni had always said those who spoke well were of noble blood. She couldn’t imagine someone of royalty harming others. Ophelia was stuck in her thoughts of Pinkie, for a minute she spaced out for a little while and then she heard him speak again. Bringing her back to reality “This is true. I never did dabble in the terms of defending myself…” then again it was probably her father’s fault.
Not allowing her to do certain things and treating her as if she was a fragile creature. She scoffed at the thought that her sister was able to get away from all that but she did not. Her bi-colored eyes blinked “Do you know this area well?” she asked him.

After walking for what seemed forever, they finally reached the trees and he couldn’t help the smile that crept up on his muzzle. He felt like he was doing something good for once. Something that mattered. His father would probably tell him differently, but he didn’t care.
“I know this area enough. I travel a lot more now since my father kicks me out of the home territory. Him and my mother are trying to have more children or at least they want to. So they want me to spread my wings and meet others.” He didn’t like the idea all that much, but it wasn’t really something he could hate. He was grateful for the way his parents took care of him. They loved him and his brother; he just feared that would change if another batch of children came into the mix of things. “Maybe you should learn to defend yourself a little bit? It doesn’t have to be anything crazy…probably just the basics. But that is up to you.” He nodded. He was only trying to give her some useful information.
He rested his head against the tree and felt a little sleepy himself, but he wasn’t going to fall asleep. At least not yet he wasn’t. “You can rest now and I can watch over you. I can’t promise that the stallion that was tormenting you earlier won’t come back though..” He said and didn’t even know if he was truly gone.

“Heh, trying to have more babies?” she couldn’t help but let a giggle slip. Her father also was searching for a mare for his last hurrah! It seemed he longed gave up on his first love the mother of her other siblings and it didn’t seem like he was going to go back to her mother either. She couldn’t imagine a stallion with that thought process. If she ever met a stallion that she loved she would had want him all to herself.
She wouldn’t want him going out and sowing his seed with any mare that he found pretty. She glanced at Pinkie wondering if he was the same way. She shook her head; she shouldn’t be having these thoughts right now. Ophelia smiled up at him “Perhaps, I should. I guess I could have someone in my herd train me a bit.” She said softly.
She watched as he rested his head up against the tree. He seemed confident that she would be safe in his presence. Ophelia gave a light nod and rested herself down upon the grass while looking up to him “Do you—um…” she paused for a moment “Do you have any kids yet?” for some reason the topic made her a little flustered.

“Yes they are. My mother is a handful. She is the complete opposite of my father and since they only have two sons, I think my mother secretly wants a girl. You know a princess or someone she could talk to. She is surrounded by men and I’m sure that wears at her sometimes.” He said and even his mother’s best friend was a stallion. She was a bit of a tomboy and rarely got along with mares, but he knew she wanted a daughter. He could just tell.
“You could do that. But like I said it’s completely up to you. Not everyone is meant to fight. Some are meant to run or talk their way out of things. It depends on the situation.” He for one wasn’t about fighting at all. His appearance pretty much gave it away since he was a pretty well kept stallion. His coat was spotless and he had no scares or imperfections on him. He always made sure he looked the best and sometimes he didn’t even understand why.
Raising his brow at the mare’s question, the stallion didn’t know if he should chuckle or remain serious. He chose the latter, of course. “Kids? No, sadly I don’t. My brother has two children from a one-night stand. I didn’t agree with it, but not everyone is the same. And from what I hear the kids are horrible.” He snorted shaking his head. He wouldn’t want to deal with something like that. “I am waiting for the one I suppose. I am sure I could have had kids if I wanted to, but I don’t want them with just anyone. I want them with the one I’m going to spend my last days with.” He felt himself beginning to get sappy and looked away giving an aggravated snort. “What about you? Some as well-mannered and beautiful must have a mate out there.” He did’t know her story because they never really talked about it during their first meeting. It was just the basic stuff.

“I could imagine.” She smiled thinking about his mother briefly. She seemed like an interesting character. She wondered if she too was a kalona or was only his father? She briefly thought about the topic of different breeds finding love outside their kind. Ophelia’s tail flicked against the ground lightly “One night stand?” was that even possible?
No, she could never do such a thing. She couldn’t fault anyone for doing so; some are just generally lonely and need someone. Ophelia was not one to ever fight but she didn’t want to just run away either. She never was a good talker though a bit shy sometimes. If the danger were to arise she probably would be a goner.
She silently cursed to herself. She really should have stretched her wings much earlier in life instead of letting her father baby her so much. Ophelia then blinked her eyes when he called his brother’s children horrible “Why is that? Are they evil?” she asked him being generally curious.
The way he talked made her clouded judgment start to clear. Inch by inch any bad thought she had of him disappeared. He seemed so---what was the word? Gallant? When he could her beautiful she could feel the blush spreading out across her face. Lucky for her that she was already pink “A mate? Oh no, I have yet to find someone…” once again she was reminded she was alone. He had to be out there right? Everyone deserved someone.

He didn’t really want to get into the specifics about his brother and his..fling. He wasn’t against it, but he wasn’t completely for it. It had his pros and cons, but mostly cons. “Well yeah…supposedly he got a mare pregnant and he doesn’t remember a thing. I don’t understand it. He said it was just a one time fling.” He rolled his shoulders, shrugging as part of his response. He loved his brother, but that was a stupid move.
Flicking his tail, he thought about his niece and nephew. They weren’t evil, but they weren’t good. “No they aren’t evil. They are…just really really full of themselves. My niece is a bit manipulative and my nephew is the same way. I can see them using people a lot in the future.” He said and really hoped they didn’t hurt too many others. “I can only hope they change.” He nodded.
“Oh I’m sorry to hear that. I’m sure you will find your match. We both will. Though I can see myself single.” He didn’t know if he would ever be with anyone. The thought rarely crossed his mind and he didn’t really find interest in anyone. Then again he hadn’t met anyone that interesting either. “Are you looking for a goody good or a bit of a bad boy type?” He had to ask just because every mare had her ideal type. Even his mother had her ideal type, but she didn’t even end up falling for that one. “I don’t really have a type of mare I would be interested in. I think it would be someone that intrigues me. Someone that really peeks my interest.” He nodded thinking there was no chance in hell he was ever going to have that happen to him.
The sad part was, he was completely okay with that.

She frowned slightly as he stalked about his nephew and niece. They seemed horrible indeed but she did not know of their story. She blinked her eyes and thought about her ideal type. She always wanted some prince to come and rescue her like the fairytales that Ciel would tell her to put her to sleep when she was a young filly. But, from what she’s seen of the world it seemed impossible for a fairytale to take place. Since there were so many imperfections and she wasn’t a perfect princess like those in the stories.
Ophelia gazed up briefly and then back to him “I use to wait for a prince or a knight to come my way.” She felt almost embarrassed to tell him. She knew it was foolish to dream the way she did but she supposed it was because she was so naïve.
“I think if I was to fall in love with someone who wasn’t my ideal. I would go for it right away. I wouldn’t hold back…” she told him. She at this point didn’t care if he was a prince or a knight she just wanted to meet her soul mate. It was true she was starting to feel a bit impatient in waiting. But, she knew he was out there.
“Oh? Is that so?” she secretly wished she was the same way.

Raising his brow slowly at her, he didn’t expect to hear that at all. Prince’s and Knight’s didn’t exist. At least the true one’s didn’t. He was a prince, which he didn’t mention to her before, but he wasn’t the perfect prince that was the hero in those stories. He had imperfections and he was okay with that because nothing was perfect. There was no such thing as a perfect being. “Maybe one day you will get that wish. I never mentioned before, but I’m actually a prince. I guess that is why I’m so well mannered, but it’s only a title I inherited from my father. It’s nothing really exciting.” He admitted to the mare feeling like they were telling each other their dirty secrets or something. He never spoke like this to anyone. It felt good, but then he was worried she would end up using this information against him or something.
“You sound like you’re a pretty passionate mare especially when it comes to love. That is a good quality to have because it means you won’t back down or let anything stop you from being with the one you feel you should be with.” He curled his tail around his leg and looked up at the darkening sky. It was getting late and he couldn’t believe how much time had passed already.
He didn’t know how he should answer her since when he was honest with others it usually hurt them or offended them. “Yes. I don’t really know what I am looking for. I’m still young and I would like to fall in love naturally. Nothing forced or planned just something unexpected. The heart is strange and you neved know what to expect. You could feel something one minute and feel completely different the next day.” He sighed lightly feeling like he was going too in depth about this. He was starting to look less manly. “But anyway…weren’t you tired?” He looked over to the mare lifting the corner of his lip slightly to form a smirk. He didn’t want to admit it, but she intrigued him. It was scaring him a little bit.
