Gathering any number of Dark Mirror Senshi was dangerous; alone, the Negaverse paid them little attention. Together?

Something always seemed to go wrong.

Which made Dark Mirror Court meetings incredibly difficult. Mirrorspace, once the ideal place for a discrete meeting, was no longer the safe Haven they once knew it as. Things had started changing, years ago. The changes had been small, at first. Hairline fractures in mirrors. And then doors. And then walls. Not necessarily in great proportion. But things had only worsened from there.

Doors would appear, smashed. Mirrors, cloudy. Or were shattered altogether.

There were places, in the not so very distant depths of Mirrorspace, where the floor seemed to have caved in on itself, revealing nothing but swirling black smoke or rooms filled with Mirrorwraiths, or piles and piles and piles of shattered mirrors.

Sometimes, things moved, in the darkness. But it wasn't safe to investigate, and Mirrorspace always seemed to shift too quickly to get a good look at what it was hiding.

The damage to Mirrorspace was great, but it was not a topic that had really been discussed before. It was well known that Mirrorspace was growing more dangerous, but perhaps the true damage was known only to the Royals who could safely travel where the others should not have dared to venture.

Mirrorspace was not safe to them, though. It wasn't safe to anyone.

And nobody really knew why this was happening.

Maybe they were just doing something wrong. Maybe something was attacking it. Maybe they just hadn't been able to gather enough energy.

At this point in time, they didn't know if they could fix the damage—or even if they could just stop it from spreading. If they could have, maybe they could have also found a way to make Mirrorspace livable. Instead, all they could do was watch it crumble around them.

Still, for the time being? It was the best they had.

Which, was why every Dark Mirror Senshi received a ping on their compact several days prior to the meeting time, and Mirrorspace had been prepared accordingly for their arrival. It wasn't anything spectacular; there were a number of chairs set out for the Dark Mirror Senshi who were unable to summon their own, and plans had been laid so that any senshi unable to slow themselves enough to linger in Mirorrspace could hitch a ride with a fellow Dark Mirror Senshi.

Their time was running out, and they knew it.

They needed a plan, and fast.

Remarque and Lesath had arrived together, probably a little earlier than they needed to. They had dropped their daughter off with Jett's mother a little early so they could manage a little time together, and while dinner together hadn't been much, it was enough—for now.

Living a normal life was something Jett didn't want to give up; there was too much he'd worked for, too much he enjoyed.

But the Court was a part of that life, and it was something he and Lesath had been working for far too long to just give up.

Though he wouldn't admit it, he was excited—and perhaps even the slightest bit nervous about tonight. It wasn't just that Mirrorspace was uncomfortable, it was also that he didn't want to meet with all of the Dark Mirror Senshi just to be able to say that he still hadn't found anything to help them. No way off the planet, no cure for Mirrorspace, no miracle to stop the Negaverse.

There had been no progress, and so far things only seemed to be getting worse.

But maybe the others hadn't been so unlucky. Maybe the others had found a plan or figured something out.

He hadn't given up yet, and he'd hoped they hadn't either.

In Mirrorspace, he didn't sit; instead, he paced. It was difficult to take a break, and even if he was tired of moving, he just couldn't focus enough to stay still.

When the time for the meeting came, Leto was already lingering in MirrorSpace- as per usual. She moved quietly through the strange mix of dark and stark white, limping ever so slightly as she always felt rather uneven with her prosthetic, into the room in which the meeting would be held. Her red eyes narrowed slightly as she caught sight of Remarque and Lesath, the first two to arrive. Something about Leto looked off, almost feral. Her hair was a tangled mess, her body covered in scars and her large back wings had a few patches of feathers missing. It wasn't very often that Leto powered down from her Princess form, finding that living in MirrorSpace was far easier that way rather than as an Eternal. Powering down at all being incredibly rare, her fuku rarely had the opportunity to magically repair itself.

Her eyes closed briefly as she tried to shake the voice that plagued her on what seemed like a daily basis. "Not now," she hissed under her breath. Sometimes she wondered if the other Dark Mirror Senshi were aware of just how far gone she had become over the last 5 years.

No words were spoken. She stood quietly away from the two of them and any DMC Senshi that arrived shortly after.

There was nothing that this meeting could possibly bring that would benefit her, but in the madness that was this Negaverse-run hell, Leto needed to show some loyalty. Maybe seeing the DMC together, seeing actual people... Maybe that would bring her a little closer to reality.

If the meeting had not been mandatory Navi wasn't at all sure she'd have attended. No longer as loyal, but even more than that, utterly exhausted and at her limit. What she wanted more than anything else she could not have. Crawling into bed and lingering there indefinitely seemed an appealing second choice, but again, she was denied it.

Duties to uphold.

As the eternal entered mirror space she kept her head down, long ginger curls helping to hide the red rimming that was a constant fixture on pale features. She'd been crying recently, but that was the norm for her as of late. After what she'd been through, everything she'd lost, she'd earned the right to those tears.

There were only three others there as she arrived, the two oldest royals(excluding Ares), and Lesath, dearest friend. She stared mutely across the stark monochrome until she met the latter's eye, a silent acknowledgement, before the petite woman took a seat.

Eternal Sailor Canopus could no more ignore the call on her compact than she could ignore the call to sleep after a few restless nights on the watch. She was nervous to the idea of being around so many people again after being secluded for so long... there was a time she almost forgot she was capable of speaking, much less capable of transforming. Not that it was out of spite or anger for her Court, simply that most of the people she needed to traffic had no use for a Dark Mirror senshi.

When she had arrived in Mirrorspace, soaking in the old familiar feeling of power and familiar, and friendly, dark auras that she had come to miss since this war had taken such a dangerous turn, she could feel some of her initial apprehension disappear, but it was fated to be short lived. As much as she wanted to delude herself into thinking that this would be a happy and joyous reunion, she knew that there'd be some tension. Would her Prince be disappointed in her decision to hide, and help traffic civilians and White Moon senshi to safety? Would her prince even be alright? It had been so long, so very long... would she even be accepted in the Court?

'He promised he'd never kick me out or abandon me... and he never breaks promises...' She told herself, arriving silently and half hoping that no one else would notice her. She spotted Navi and then Lesath, whom she silently admired but tried to avoid, in fear of catching her eye. Did she know of the feelings she harbored for Prince Remarque, even if they were only that of a young teenage girl with a crush? She hoped not, and she kept her head down, as she moved past them. As much as she tried to avoid Lesath, she could not help but flash a small, but warm smile towards Remarque- he looked well, despite his worried pacing, and she was happy to see him well.

She was going to say something to him, but another Royal had caught her gaze and she looked towards Leto, unable to hide the surprise from her features as she stared at the princess. She looked stressed, tired, not at all herself but it had been a long, grueling five years, she reminded herself. Something about Leto scared Canopus, and there was no hiding it... she moved closer to Remarque and looked down at her feet. Times had changed... and so did her Court. But it was still her Court, if they'd still have her.

While Remarque had expected Leto to arrive, seeing her there did not particularly please him. Naturally, as a Dark Mirror Senshi, she had every right to be there, but word of her brutality had spread far and wide and though Remarque was certain she thought she was doing what was best for the Court, he couldn’t help but wonder how many potential allies had permanently severed tied with the Court because of her.

Of course, she was spending so much time in Mirrorspace that he almost couldn't blame her for whatever condition she was in.

Almost.

His pacing slowed, not because he was any calmer but because he was instead paranoid and wondered if lurking in the depths of this place had affected her more than he knew. He casually made his way to stand next to Lesath, nodding to the other Dark Mirror Senshi as they arrived. "Ladies," he greeted, looking between the women who had arrived so far. His eyes lingered on Leto, though, and she was the first he addressed by name.

"Leto. Glad to see you found your way out of Mirrorspace. You look like you've been…"

…Well, there wasn't really a nice way to say it; she looked like she'd seen better days. And like she could have used some time pampering herself, getting cleaned up.

"…Busy."

But, keeping busy was probably for the best thing for her. There was the part of him that wanted to respect her for all she had done, but there was the part of him that knew she was dangerous—a liability—to the Court.

And he took that very seriously.

But, if she spent all her time in Mirrorspace, hopefully she would have more information on it—or at least have found something of interest. He'd have rather her been here than out there, beating in heads while they were trying to make friends to get them out of here.

To Navi, he nodded; he hadn't seen her in a while though was happy that she had decided to show up. There numbers were not so great that every person wasn't a great asset.

Canopus, he was a bit more familiar with; he had expected her to show up and was glad to see that she was still in one piece.

There was still much time for the others to arrive, but awkward silence was not something Remarque was going to allow to creep into conversation. Not when Mirrorspace was already as unnerving as it was. A little friendly conversation never hurt anyone--and he did genuinely care to know how they were doing. "Navi, Canopus," he said, shifting positions. He rested his hands on the back of a chair and leaned forward as he greeted them. "Glad to see you two are alive and well. And you're both holding up all right? No one giving you trouble, I hope?"

Even as Chariklo stepped through the mirror and into Mirrorspace, she was thinking hard, trying to have some sort of plan in place for whatever might happen. There hadn't been a meeting of the Dark Mirror Court in far too long and she needed to know what state they were in so she could act accordingly. Before she'd left with Cruithne, she'd warned Ava to be careful if she came to the meeting herself. Don't mention the twins, don't mention the camp.

She'd even managed to find Tantalus and give him the same warnings. And what Tantalus knew, Damocles would as well. So that was all right.

Stepping into Mirrorspace, she took half a breath to shift to Princess form. If Leto was there (and oh, she would be there), Chariklo wanted to set an impression for whatever Dark Mirrors were there. If she was going to get people to listen to her, she needed to look healthy. Both physically and mentally. It pained her to have to think of her old friend as a sort of enemy, but it was what it was.

And even as she took in who was already there, she was breathing a silent prayer of thanks to whatever deities had planted the thought into her head. Leto was there and looking more than a little terrifying. But where Leto's wings were ragged and tattered, Chariklo's were black, glossy and every feather in place. Why, the only signs that she'd been in trouble lately were the small burns left across her shoulder from Bischofite's tar attack.

Motioning Cruithne to find a seat, the tall Princess gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze before turning to smile at the senshi assembled. That smile became a grin when she saw Canopus and she made a beeline for the other woman, giving her dark hair an affectionate ruffle.

"Well, you're a sight for sore eyes, darlin'," she drawled before turning her smile onto Lesath, Navi and Remarque.

She gave Remarque a nod and arched an eyebrow as if to silently question what he was planning. And when she turned to Leto, the smile faltered. Torn between revulsion and pity, all she could do was stare at her former Captain. She wanted to go hug the woman, only she was fairly sure that it would be seen as an attack. So she settled for blunt scolding.

"Sweet ********' Christ, are you even bothering to eat and take care of yourself in here? You look like hell."

She wanted to say more, wanted to rail at the petite brunette for keeping herself locked up in Mirrorspace, for burning bridges for the Court, only she couldn't. Restraining herself from saying anything else, she simply closed her eyes and focused her attention on the rest of the gathering.

.........

For her part, Cruithne simply remained quiet, unobtrusive. She preferred it that way, though she offered a pleasant smile to everyone present. Taking a seat in one of the available chairs, she watched the room and Leto in particular.

Oh, Aunt Quinn, she thought sadly, what happened to you? It had taken time, but she'd forgiven the senshi of Camoflage for tossing her through the Mirror willy-nilly. And she found herself wishing more than once that the Lavender Cordial worked on true insanity. If they were going to survive, they all needed to be whole. And though she winced slightly as Chariklo's approach to addressing it, deep down she had to agree. Leto did look like hell and it was alarming.

She made a swift mental note that the next time she did a baking batch, she would make up enough to leave in Mirrorspace for Leto. Not that cookies would fix anything, but they would hopefully remind the Princess that the Court still cared and worried about her well-being.

Leto may have lost her mind, but she wasn't oblivious. She could feel the stares of the Dark Mirror Senshi that were arriving as they bore into her. She watched as Canopus moved next to Remarque and looked away from her, clearly uncomfortable. Her gaze was only taken from Canopus when Remarque said her name. Her deep red eyes slowly moved upwards to lock upon Remarque, narrowing slightly as he tried to find the words to describe the Senshi of Camoflage.

She couldn't help but grin when he chose the word 'busy'. Not quite the word she would've used.

"Busy," Leto repeated back to him with a laugh. "It's quite alright Remarque, I'm fully aware of the way I look." Her eyebrows raised ever-so-slightly and her fingertips found their way to the ends of her still ombred hair. They twirled non-nonchalantly through the lengths, as if the entire situation was totally casual and she was bffs with the group that surrounded her.

When Chariklo stepped through the mirror, Leto knew that the taller girl would have words for her. Five years ago, Leto would've probably thrown herself at the Seagull Senshi and embraced her in a giant hug- now, however, she scowled at her.

Leto dipped low to the ground in a bow, her prosthetic leg moving backwards as her good leg supported her. She wiggled her fingers and swept her arms outward in a flourish. "I'm so sorry, your highness. Sometimes I just plumb forget," she forced out a fake southern drawl as she mocked the other girl, shifting back into a standing position with her hands clasped in front of her. "Please, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me! I'll be sure to get a cheeseburger and tidy myself up once this super duper productive meeting is over and done with!"

If Leto had hackles, they sure as s**t would've been raised. Her arms crossed over her chest defiantly, as if she was a child throwing a temper tantrum and challenging Chariklo to say anything more.

Maybe this was a bad idea.

Her eyes shifted around the room suddenly, glancing at the mirrors that surrounded them. Suddenly Leto felt awfully claustrophobic.

"That's enough," Remarque said sharply. He looked at Leto with narrowed eyes and seemed testy around the Princess, though there was no hostility—only firmness. They weren't here to fight, not with each other. He had high hopes that this meeting would be productive. Differences, aside.

"Now, let's make this meeting productive. Leto, you spend more time than any of us in Mirrorspace. I was hoping you could regale us with a status update on some of the deeper sections," he said, watching her. She looked uncomfortable, unstable, and he didn't want to provoke her. He might not have agreed with the violence she endorsed, but she had been around, and she knew things. Things he doubted he could even imagine.

People were always the most honest before they died.

He didn't know how long she toyed with them before she took care of them.

And anything they said to her in those last moments might have been as important as whatever she might have known of Mirrorspace. And with the way she was looking at those mirrors? Remarque wondered if she was trying to leave so soon. Worrying that she might try to depart beforehand, he only briefly glanced to Chariklo and Cruithne, nodding in silent greeting. His attention was quick to return to Leto and despite his desperation to hear any ounce of good news, his expression remained stoic.

Lesath didn’t like meetings. It was just too impersonal a way to convey information, and she just didn’t like them. To be honest, Lesath had been at odds with the entirety of the Dark Mirror Court for so long, she sometimes felt like she had never really belonged, and truth be told, when the court was together as a whole like this, she felt little bits of disdain creeping back into her.

But, she had to keep telling herself that she was past all that, honestly, because most of the time she was! There were just moments where…she still wasn’t.

She glanced around and her eyes landed on Leto. Oh how the mighty had fallen. If there was one thing the senshi of moths wished she could have done differently with her activity in the court, it was Leto. She wished she had tried to spend more time with the girl, the one who was a princess…the one she had all but written out after she became a princess…the one who she had avoided at all costs since then.

Today was different though. It had been a very long time, and now here she was, completely on par with the other senshi. Hell, who was she kidding? She was clearly doing a lot better than Leto had been doing in a very, very long time. She watched as Chariklo, seemed to almost bait Leto, and finally she decided she had to do something.

Walking over to the senshi of camouflage, Lesath opened up her arms. “Leto. It’s been far, far too long. I suppose I should apologize for our last meeting.” She shook her head, anger starting to rise in her. Why should she apologize? Look at what Leto was doing. Or, what was she doing, really?

The Princess of Moths leaned down, kissing her on the cheek, not bothering to worry about being seen as intrusive. She needed to be close to the members of her court. Wanted to get to know them. But damn, if Leto didn’t make her feel all confused and knotted up inside. “I want to talk to you after this, I think. Would you like to join me for burgers tomorrow, perhaps? Since you’re going to go eat them, as you just said.”

She glanced back at Navi, giving a little finger wave. Poor Navi…she always seemed so lost now, and it seemed that nobody even bothered remembering she was around…not that she ever really made herself known. Lesath always felt the closest with Navi…maybe it was just their history together…or maybe it was just due to the fact the girl had never managed to piss her off.

Regardless, Navi was the s**t, and she would go over there, just as soon as she was done with this. Because, clearly. A group meeting was the perfect time and place to deal with five years of grudge holding and anger.

Priorities, man. Priorites.

Fading into the background was alright with the senshi of tumbleweeds. If she could just sit there quietly, not draw attention to herself, then perhaps she could make it through the meeting without anyone pressing her for any sort of update of information. She had nothing to tell them, any of them, because she had not been fighting for them.

Her chest hurt, guilt welling up in a painful knot at the pit of her stomach that had nothing to do with the despair that seemed so prevalent since her run in with Painite. For a shining moment, just before that b***h of a woman had interrupted them, she'd known hope again. A glimpse of sun through the clouds, fleeting and beautiful, before the storm had rolled in again. Her life was a mess, she was losing herself. She was losing all reason to live.

She didn't feel Lesath's gaze when it landed on her, but if anyone in attendance chose to approach her, it would be her. The blonde's company was always appreciated. She understood, better than anyone.

She would have made a beautiful maid of honor.

As the bickering began hazel eyes snapped up to the royals, watching them warily, features hardening in something close to spite for their petty squabbles, but she held her tongue, arms crossing tightly, and said nothing. Remarque was there to keep the peace, she hoped.

Oh. Cute. Nice to know that they were all acting like adults here. Still, rather than rise to Leto's baiting, Chariklo managed to stay quiet and assume an expression of unflappable serenity. Though she would have loved to have leapt forward and starting shaking Leto by the shoulders until her ******** teeth rattled. Fighting with her friend (was she even still that?) wouldn't do anything but delay the meeting.

Still, swallowing her pride was probably one of the things she hated having to do most. Giving her wings a twitch as the only outward sign of her annoyance, she ignored Lesath as the other woman came forward to hug and kiss Leto. Because I'm the bad guy here, clearly. And this was why she hated meetings.

"So," she began in a clipped voice, addressing the air, but cutting her eyes across to look at Remarque. "How are we doing as far as keeping the energy flow going here? It's getting harder to collect out there with all the new regulations being put into effect. And that's with Cruithne, Amytis and I cheating and stealing from each other by turns."

She paused and gnawed on her lip for a moment as she tried to figure out the best way to give her next bit of news. Oh hell, she might as well just pour it out. It wouldn't change anything anyway.

"And we've got another two names for whatever passes for our Wall," she added in a soft, pain-filled tone. It was never easy for her losing a Dark Mirror. "Cruithne found Iapetus and I found Namaka. In Namaka's case, it looked like it was at least quick."

She stopped and choked a little, wondering if she should let Cruithne make her own report or not. Part of her wanted to take that burden from the gentle Lavender senshi. The rest of her wanted to howl in grief and shred something. Someday, she was going to pay the Negaverse back in full for the terrible things they'd done to her 'family'.

................

As she sat and watched, Cruithne couldn't help but feel a great deal of annoyance with Leto as the brunette mocked and postured. But she held her peace and let Remarque put a stop to what might have been the beginnings of an amazing catfight. As she sat serenely watching and listening, she nodded a little to herself, making a note to bring cheeseburgers the next time she left Leto a care package.

Pulling her attention back to the present, she winced as Chariklo let the assembled Dark Mirrors know that more had fallen. And rather than let her surrogate mother shoulder the whole burden, she piped up in a soft, voice that nevertheless managed to carry through the chamber.

"Iapetus fought back," she stated. "We all know that the Negaverse dislikes those who refuse to bow down to them. Since I didn't find her in an operating theatre, clearly she fought back and took a few of theirs out with her."

Now she turned silvery pink eyes to Leto addressed her directly with a calm assurance that would have shocked the Cruithne of five years ago.

"She worries so much about you, Aunt Quinn," she began in a gently admonishing voice, referring to Chariklo. "I wish I could make you understand how much she worries. None of us want you to end up like Orcus, after all. We love you."

Well, at least she and Chariklo loved Leto. Sort of. In their own ways. Or rather, they loved the Leto who'd been strong and ready to lead the Court wherever it had needed to go. And hopefully the use of her old pet name for Leto would remind of the other woman of that affection.

And if not, she thought with an odd malice that remained hidden, maybe tossing the name of one of the Negaverse's first Dark Mirror victims out there would snap Leto out of whatever strange mood she was currently in.

Large groups were never a good thing for Tantalus. Not anymore. Too many people and too many power signatures became very confusing when you couldn't see. Never mind that Mirrorspace, which had once been a place of sanctuary and quiet for him, was downright deadly without the ability to navigate visually. Still, the blind Eternal slipped into the meeting space, alone for the moment but rather certain Damocles would arrive soon.

There were few signatures and few voices, but they were all familiar to him. He wasn't sure if that was good or bad. Good because at least he knew everyone there, bad because that meant there was no one new. The Court thrived on new conversions, and so many of them were falling in battles with the Negaverse and, occasionally, with Order.

One voice, at least, he was both happy and sad to hear.

"Leto," he greeted, "you'll pardon me for the less physical greeting - it's a bit hard to judge who's where," his tone was light, polite. "It's good to have you here."

Even with all that had happened, even with how far she had slid - he still adored the Princess that had Awakened him. He worried about her, hidden and isolated in Mirrorspace, and based on the comments of those around him, she was not in good shape.

"Remarque, Lesath, Chariklo, Cruithne - Amytis?" He took a guess that the Senshi of Karma would be there, since he sincerely doubted she would have let herself be left behind when the rest of her family (minus, most likely, the twins, but that was for the best) was here. He knew there were others present, but with no voice, he had no route to identify who they were.

Even after three years of dealing with it, blindness was frustrating as hell.

Amytis was rarely powered up these days. She had spent nine months unable to do it at all while pregnant, and even after - well, it was difficult. Speaking her henshin phrase was painful, with her throat damaged as it was, but she could still do it.

And for a meeting of her full Court, she would. She knew she looked haggard and worn, even if her henshin neatly fixed up her hair and provided a bit of a cleanup. It was not for the reasons others might be - her personal war was mostly bedtimes and feedings and trying desperately to catch sleep when the babies were - but she would be content to let those who were unaware think they were from less mundane things.

Her greetings for most of the people there were small waves and a gesture to her throat with an apologetic expression - she wasn't sure how many outside her tight personal circle were aware of her particular handicap. Others, however, got something slightly more physical. She carefully took Tantalus's hand and signed a greeting into it when he addressed her.

She wanted to give Leto and Remarque hugs, but it seemed sort of unwise with things as tense as they were. So instead, she stepped over next to her wife.

Leto rolled her eyes at Remarque's authoritative tone as he essentially told her and Chariklo to shut up. She glared at the entirety of the group for a moment before Remarque addressed her a second time. Couldn't he just speak to everyone else and let her linger here in peace? She closed her eyes, taking a breath and mentally counting to ten. These days she found it harder and harder to control her temper.

Her entire body tensed as Lesath approached her, expecting the other Royal to lash out either verbally or physically. They hadn't spoken since Lesath declared her hatred for her when Leto and Remarque had become the first Dark Mirror Royals since Ares. The Senshi of Moths had made it abundantly clear that she wanted nothing to do with Leto and she had always chosen to respect that. So when Lesath embraced her, all Leto could do was stand completely still, arms at her side. When Lesath's lips pressed to her cheek, Leto turned her head slightly, tilting it to look at her- her eyes full of confusion and hurt and a whole buttload of feels that she hadn't allowed herself to have in a very long time. She wanted to snap at the other girl, tell her where to go and that she wanted nothing to do with her. She wanted to push her away and storm off through a mirror.

Instead, she offered her the saddest of smiles and nodded, "Okay. Tomorrow."

Leto softened a little bit, the edge taken away just enough that she was able to function.

And for the first time in ages, Leto address the Dark Mirror Court as a whole. The last five years seemed to flood over her and she stiffened slightly, standing a little bit taller, a little bit more stable and normal. "A status update, yeah, sure..." Leto mumbled.

Shaking her head, she glanced behind her at the area of MirrorSpace that she had emerged from. "I don't think that this place will be stable for very long. I mean, it's not stable now, but every single day is worse than the day before. More and more shattered mirrors. The Wraiths are loose in areas, the entire place is caving in on itself." She paused.

For once, Leto genuinely looked worried- a deep concern for not only herself but the people that she once considered her family.

"Our time is going to run out. I haven't found anything but chaos and darkness in here and no one is going to save us," Leto's expression turned to anger. "I can't save us. No matter how long I'm in here, I can't do anything and Ares is never coming back, we've been left here to rot in a Negaverse-run world where we don't fit."

Somehow, it always came back to Ares for Leto. While most of the Court had moved on from her leaving, Leto never quite had. The longer she was gone, the worse Leto became and there wasn't a single person in the world that understood that.

"I don't know what to tell you, Remarque. There is nothing in here."

Falling silent, Leto stepped back when Chariklo and Cruithne took to addressing the group. Her gaze shifted down to the ground when the two spoke of their Senshi that had fallen, and her hands balled to fists at her sides. She shook her head and refused to make eye contact with Cruithne or Tantalus when he arrived and spoke.

Looking at him after what happened... It broke her heart and her spirit to see any of it. She couldn't bring herself to see any of it because it would just drive her further into madness.

Remarque had tensed as soon as Lesath approached Leto, and while he hadn't had the faintest idea of what his wife was thinking, he expected the worst. In many ways, he saw Leto as a wild animal; she was a creature he didn't understand, and one capable of such ferocity and unpredictability that he wouldn’t have ever been comfortable with someone getting so close to her.

But Lesath was fearless, and compassionate, and when Leto accepted her offer he found himself releasing a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. He was tense but slowly relaxed, and even if he couldn’t tear his eyes away from the two women he replied to Leto, "I was afraid of that. And if you haven't found anything, I doubt the rest of us will have much success. I've spent my time in Mirrorspace." Not as much as Leto, but Mirrorspace was safe from the Negas—as long as you were willing to deal with everything else that was wrong with it.

"And I've seen nothing more than what you've described. But, this isn't your fault. It was never on your shoulders alone to save us."

He might not blame Leto, but he wasn't so forgiving of Ares. She was a distant memory now; he had never been so close to her as Leto had been and he had not suffered her loss beyond what it did to the Court. But they had adapted and grown, at least—so much as the Negaverse had allowed.

"We'll just have to figure something else out."

He looked to Chariklo, and now that he wasn't worried about some fight brewing or something, replied, "Perhaps gathering more energy could help us? I admit, I've not been able to gather a decent amount in…"

Weeks? Months?

Probably years.

"A while. I don't know if it's too late, or if we ramp up our own energy draining if it's going to make a difference."

He looked to the rest of the Dark Mirror Senshi, and nodded to the ones he hadn't get greeted. There were those he wished to speak with, those that he would have liked to hold a more private conversation, but now was hardly the time to make such an announcement. This was about the Court, not about catching up with old friends. His eyes lingered on Tantalus for a moment; he had been hurt, but not in any way like the senshi before him. He couldn’t imagine it.

But Iapetus and Namaka…

He tried not to dwell on them for long. Not now. They had to focus on staying alive.

He could always speak to Chariklo more about this later, get the details.

The entire Court knew how badly they were doing. He didn't want them to ignore the fact that two of them were gone…but he didn't want them dwelling on death.

"…Draining for energy is inventive, but dangerous. Just be careful. Everyone," he looked around at the Senshi, now, "Should be careful. The Negaverse can knock us down as many times as they like, but as long as we're alive, we can fight. We can do something. What's the status on allies? Enemies? Who can we trust, who should we be avoiding?"
