Ⓦe witches in the world live in peace amongst you humans. We live our lives, using our magic only to improve our standards of living, but we never harm humans. Even Dark Witches, the most evil of our kind, seldom lash out against humans. Whether good or not, witches do not want humans to know of our existence. After all, we already deal with mass hunts from those humans who know of us; Witch hunters. The world you know now is much different from the world I grew up in. Witches and humans were fearful of one another, avoiding any kind of contact with the other. Witches would linger in small covens in the outskirts of towns or the wilderness of forests or mountains, knowing that out of sight to humans they would be alone.

How wrong they were.

Witch Hunters relentlessly hunted us, all the witches of the world, to bring us to extinction. We had done nothing to deserve such genocide, but the Hunters thought otherwise. Most had the same excuse; “witches killed my family” or “a witch split my family apart”. We witches fought to stay in the shadows, just to live a life of peace and quiet. Some of us even buried our powers deep to remain in society. Others made sure to prevent their fellow witches from realising they had powers, keeping themselves thinking they were normal as anyone else. The time you know now and the time I once knew are not that far in the past. A single coven of witches has vowed to rise up against all enemies, magic and not, to make the world a more peaceful place for witches and humans to live in. Us witches dream of a life of being able to be in society without hatred and prejudice. No wars, no sentencing like in old Salem, just a world where we can live on our own without the fear of being killed in the night. A world that might not exist for anyone, witch or human, should a group of witches and warlocks lead by a Dark Witch named Raven prove our existence to the world.

❶ Please message profiles to me, VSG12, with the title of "Mark of the Coven". Be sure to include a gaia_kittenstar (kittenstar) icon as well, so I am sure you have read through the rules.

❷ The main characters will be open only for a short time. If you want them, be sure to take them. Try and take already existing characters, instead of making your own ahead of time. However, original characters are accepted.

❸ Please do not go over-board with violence, romance, or other themes. Try to keep the Role Play to a PG13 to a PG17 limit. You can be violent, romantic, and curse all you like, but do keep it to a limited amount. If you do insist on "going further" with a character in a romantic setting, please resort to Private Messaging.

❹ Please be literate in this Role Play! I don't expect huge paragraphs or anything of that matter, but don't use one-liners. Also, be sure to use the correct spelling, grammar, and other such things.

❺ Try and make your posts as pretty as you can! You can either use a creative border or a picture of your character(s) in each post. Using colors is accepted, but try not to use the same colors as other characters.

❻ There is no limit to the amount of characters you can take, but please, only take as many as you can handle. If you take 20 characters and only use 6, I will delete the unused characters. Unless there is a reason for a character to be out of action, please only make as many characters as needed.

Witches who specialise in a special type of dark magic known as “blood magic”. It is closest to alchemy or potion casting. It can be used to take over a body or heal wounds – at a cost (for example: to take control of another persons body, the user must subject themselves to immense, if not unbearable, pain until the cast is complete). The main rule Blood Witches follow is “to gain something, something must be lost”. There is no dark side to this magic, but it can be used for both good and evil means.

Witches who specialise in dark magic, or the “Black Arts” as history calls it. Those with this power are often cursed to turning on those they love and hold dear to pursue dark desires. Few witches with this power are able to hold on to the good in their hearts; these witches are known as Grey Witches instead. If one becomes a Grey Witch, they cannot be corrupted. The rule that Dark Witches follow is “everything for myself, no matter the cost”. The rule that Grey Witches follow is “even in darkness, there is a light”.

Witches who specialise in elemental magic, although each witch is best at a certain element while they can control all. Most witches will be ruled by an element that follows their personality traits; a hot-tempered witch will hold fire powers, a down-to-earth witch will hold earth powers, etc. The main rule that Storm Witches follow is “release the storm at heart, but use great caution”.

Witches who specialise in a special type of Holy magic, a magic that is not quite “Angelic” but still holds a close relation. These witches are able to counter most curses that Dark Witches use, and their magic can be used to keep Grey Witches in the clear. They are often seen as the purest witches, this fact being mirrored with the fact they are the rarest species of witch out there. The main rule Holy Witches follow is “the light will show the path, have faith and follow”.

Witches who specialise in a special type of magic that allows them to control weaponry and summon it from thin air. No other witches can summon weapons or control them in such a manner (others may be able to will weapons to move, but not enchant them to act on their own). These witches are the most barbaric and prone to violence, but not the Dark Arts. The main rule the Warrior Witches follow is “fight for honor, shield those I love”.

Witches who specialise in a special type of magic that allows them to control, talk to, and turn into a certain animal. These witches commonly turn into felines, the symbol of the witch Covenant. Wild Witches, the second rarest kind of witch after Holy Witches, are able to possess more than one life; 9 if they turn into a cat, 4-5 if they turn into any other animal. They posses earth, plant, and wind elements of magic other than the animal spells. The main rule Wild Witches follow is “sink in the claws, saviour the bite; protect those I love with all my might”.

They are male witches, and closest to Storm Witches. The one difference is that they possess only one element, but can use any sub-genre of it (ie; fire warlocks also can use smoke and heat spells). They have no motto and are regarded as the weakest race of all Magic Users. It is rare for a Warlock to be stronger than a Witch. They are sometimes called “b*****d Witches” since many witches refuse to treat Warlocks with any respect. They are hunted down and killed by most Dark Witches.

From what I can remember...
Esadora is one of the few witches to be born as a Wild Witch, meaning she can turn into a certain animal and summon other animals to her. Her animal is a black cat, giving her 9 lives in total. She currently is on her 9th life, being cautious so she isn't wasteful. The Wolfsbane Coven was made by her Great-Grandmother, originally only being for the Cyrene family. Esadora made it available to other witches when her family were killed off one by one. Witch Hunters found the original hide away, so she moved the Coven and hid it from humans. Her dark-cobalt hair and purple eyes stand out, so she turns into a black cat during the day. When she turns back into a human, she has a strapless black fur dress that is knee length

From what I can remember...
The tomboy of the whole group, Gertrude is a Russian born witch who moved to the USA when her family died. She lived with her mother, a Wild Witch, who used her last life to protect Gert from a fire. Gert was originally supposed to live with her Aunt, but her own family wanted nothing to do with her due to her reputation as a violent girl with outbursts on a seriously lethal scale. She learned to tone her violence down living on the streets of Toronto. She eventually found Wolfsbane Coven, being the first Warrior Witch to join. As a Warrior Witch, she can summon weapons, and she chose a Scythe as it represents death; something she will give to enemies. She serves as the Coven Guard, protecting the others at all costs.

From what I can remember...
Erin is a rather talented Blood Witch, raised by her mother and Grandmother, who were both the same species of Witch as she is. Erin was raised with potions and Blood Magic, only learning Alchemy in her later years before leaving home to find a Coven. Erin uses her potion skills in her new Coven home, Wolfsbane Coven, where she makes potions to be used for many things; healing, tracking, etc. She also has the talent of Tarot Reading, using this skill to predict the future. Erin is a lesbian, the only one of the group, but keeps her sexuality to herself. The others embrace her decision and often try to find her love, but most witches she find dislike the fact she's a Blood Witch, an often “tainted” sub-species of Witch due to their magic over blood in a literal sense.

From what I can remember...
Freya is Loki's older twin sister, and as such she feels she is personally responsible for bringing Loki to justice for the problems he's caused Wolfsbane Coven by serving Raven Black. Freya and Loki were both originally part of Wolfsbane Coven, Loki being one of the few Warlocks alive to have a strong power he could use to defend Esadora and the other girls. But Raven used him, knowing it would cause Freya immense pain and also teach Esadora a lesson on trust. Neither lesson went to heart, Esadora and Freya both seeking revenge on Raven for taking a friend. Freya holds the most power when it comes to the Grey Witches of the Coven. Freya may not be the best in spells or enchantments, but her raw power is enough to give her the top spot.

If my memory is right...
Derrick is the strongest Warlock of the three, although his power isn't as strong as Loki's when his magic is being enhanced by Raven Black. When Loki is himself, Derrick is the strongest. His ice powers are exactly like Elsa's from Frozen, and to the same degree. Many people fear him for his great skill. He is known as a White Warlock, the name given to Warlocks of great power who are accepted by the magic community. When Loki is turned against Wolfsbane Coven and starts attacking the girls, Derrick shows up and uses his magic to counter Loki's fire magic. He later becomes a part of the Coven, before Cai, and later a love interest of Esadora. He has a phobia of falling from great heights.

If my memory is right...
Although he started out as a rogue Warlock merely seeking any sort of kindness from those around him, human or witch, he found himself at Wolfsbane Coven. At first, the others turned him down, but Esadora asked to see what he was capable of. Finding his powers only destined to grow, she allowed him a home. He now serves as a loyal guard, knight, and protector of this Coven and it's family. He feels his only duty is to save the Coven from any and all threats until his death or until he is released. It's only when Esadora tells him otherwise he starts opening up to the others. His Lightning powers mean he is: immune to shocks, a technopath, and he can amplify others powers with contact.

The story so far
The main antagonist of the story, alongside her “minion” Loki Kallisto. Raven used to be a close friend and ally of Wolfsbane Coven before she realised she was a Dark Witch. At first, she merely thought she was a Grey Witch, but the corruption of being a Dark Witch changed her. She decided to kill off any who wouldn't obey her, corrupting Freya's brother, Loki, to do her bidding. Raven has no care for others and is selfish to the core. She is not one to show mercy, even to those who have sworn loyalty to her. She sacrifices her minions like they were flies. Loki often breaks free from her brainwash curse, but she always puts him back under; knowing the emotional pain it causes to Freya and those of Wolfsbane Coven. Her favorite curse to cast on her enemies is confining them to a painting for many years (often centuries).

The story so far
The main antagonist of the story, brainwashed into working for Raven Black. Loki is the younger twin brother of Freya, before Raven corrupted him with a brainwashing curse (the curse is shown by the crimson tattoos on his face). He was, and for the most part still is, dedicated to Wolfsbane Coven completely. Esadora allowed him to live there with Freya, even though Warlocks are seen as a “lesser” species to Witches. Loki often breaks from the curse by his will to save his sister and protect the Coven he swore his loyalty to. He eventually manages to escape Raven and returns to the Coven.
