Does anyone else have a school with a Japanese exchange program? My high school has been involved in one for about 16 years now, and it's really exciting! They just melt your heart! There isn't a single person over here that can say they dislike them...because they can't xD. I've talked with a few of them and the conversations we've had always end with either laughter or emotions involving the act of smiling.

One more thing. The girls really like white people. Seriously. LOVE white people. Especially the guys xD. This happens every year =_=;. Every time it occurs...only an awkward joy is the outcome.

Has anyone else partaken in the excitement that is the Japanese exchange program? I'd really like to hear about your adventures or just the most simple scenarios surprised

Well I had two homestay girls when I was 15... one for just a weekend, and another for a month.

The weekend girl Miho was about 18 I think.. and she said like she had a 28 yo boyfriend who worked for the governement?? o_O I guess she's married by now to him...

The month girl Azusa was great. I can barely remember the time we spent together though. She went to English school everyday and was kept busy with school activities. I remember that one time doing her homework she fell asleep on my bed and had drooled all over her paper! LOL poor thing. She got her ears pierced here too since they weren't allowed to back home (all the girls did that here). I actually met her in Japan a few years later... it was just a day and I didn't know too much Japanese then, and she hadn't improved in her English so.. it was still hard to communicate. I never saw her again though. I suppose she is graduating college or something...

wisteria darling

I wish we had a foreign exchange program here it'd be nice to have a japanese student to practice with. Then again, I'd love to be a part of the program too.

Robert Morris University's director of the International program is really pushing me to go there next year because she wants me to meet an exchange student named Shizuka and because  I'm rather liked. It's rather in vain though since it's already my #1 choice (especially since the director wants to meet with me again before school starts in the fall so she can help to align my schedule so I've got a lot of free credits for Kansai Gaidai). I'm so excited 4laugh , but in a really creepy little kid I-keep-fantasizing-hanging-out-with-the-girl kind of way.

My school has a Japanese exchange program. This one girl named Shiori was staying with my cousin, she was really cool and her English wasn't that bad. We went around taking pictures and ended up going to an amusement park, she started freaking out on a ride that went upside down....she was okay though. We had a lot of fun. Another girl, I think her name was Chicaco, stayed with us for a few days, she was really nice too.

I'm a student at Earlham College (it's a great school if you're interested in Japanese Studies as well as the language, the classes are GREAT) and they've had an exchange program going with Waseda University in Tokyo for at least a decade. They've been involved with Japan for over 100 years, though, and they were one of the few colleges during WWII to allow in Japanese-American students. heart

I have a lot of Japanese exchange student friends, and they're all really nice and funny. My friend, Hiro, is so much fun to eat breakfast with because he does it in such a Japanese way. It's hard to explain without seeing it, but think of those scenes in anime when a character is eating ramen quickly and it's just one line of food. It's somewhat like that. lol... heart

At my high school we have foreign exchange student programs. Three years ago there was a Japanese girl named Yasuko who came to our school. She was so nice!! 3nodding She joined our schools tennis team (which I was also on) & we became pretty good friends! It was funny because she was so much better than everyone else! sweatdrop hehe! &, like a couple of you mentioned, she was CRAZY about the guys here! She had a boyfriend almost instantly!

Currently at my school we have a foreign exchange student from China. Her name is Xaioqian, but we all call her Qian. She is so sweet & funny! 4laugh She loves shopping! When we go to the mall (which is very frequent xd ), she always buys a bunch of clothes! She loves the fashion here! & she always has so many interesting stories to tell about her life in China. I don't want her to leave! cry

My School Henry Ford II has an exchange program. I'm a first year student but my sensei let a few first years host for abou three days early on in the year. I got to host a girl by the name of Ayame. She was so sweet! All the students were only here for three days but there wasn't a dry cheek in the whole Japanese student group. We all cried so much! We all had some funny stories to tell. One of the students from Japan could sing Green Day in perfect English. It was funny.

I attend the University of South Florida, and we have a ton of Japanese and Korean students here. The school we are most active with is Kansai Gaidai University, I think is in Osaka...also the Japanese teacher I have is awesome!!!!! He's so cute! He can speak Japanese, English and Spanish perfectly! I was considering going to Japan next year during the spring semester...so I'm excited about that too! xd
