Name: Sebastien / "Seb" or "Bastien"
Race: Fire
Gender: Male
3 Base Traits: Confident, Even-Tempered, Passionate
Personality: Seb is a hard man to ruffle or frighten, which helps greatly in his work but often irritates those expecting a rise out of him. He has had a long time to build his own beliefs on the world, unfettered by familial values, and is rather content in those beliefs and unwilling to change for the sake of others. He will gladly listen to your explanations on philosophy, but may not agree.

In general, he has a great respect for his superiors... most of the time. He will listen, obey and heed but holds the potential for rebellion. As of yet, nobody has so challenged him that it may change his life, so he has had no reason to deny anyone. He makes friends easily and is a bit of a flirt but rarely continues tavern relationships beyond the four walls they originated in. His coworkers are the nearest thing he has to family, and to them and good friends he is fiercely loyal. He is less likely to punch an attacker than try to talk them down, though. That says nothing of his confidence which is often off-putting to those he is not serving or working under. If he thinks you're being ridiculous and you're within his realm of common comfort, he will gladly laugh in your face.

Seb can sometimes be found having one-sided conversations with the animals or speaking in full sentences during their training, as if they could understand. He sees even the most violent animal as being innocent. It's just doing what its instincts tell it to do, and the first signs of training taking hold are well worth it. Animals do not know right or wrong, only instinct and loyalty, and they must be respected.

As for the war, Seb isn't so sure he agrees with the motives. To share culture with foreigners is one thing, but to try and overtake them is wholly another. He generally does not speak his mind about such things, though, as his employer and his king believe in the cause. He will not take up a sword against the 'enemy,' but he will no deny his help in caring for the animals that are sent out on the battlefield.
Description:
Build: Tall and muscular, but not enormous. His work is mostly physical, hauling supplies and working with (or more often against) animals.
Face: Strong-jawed with a long, straight nose. I imagine him with this knowing, confident half-smile (but that is of course up to the artist!)
Hair: Straight, nearly black, with both sides a nape undercut shaved out. His hair is always out of the way in some fashion but can be styled any number of ways. A good example would be Ragnar from Vikings.
Eyes: Both pink/red, but one a few shades darker than the other in a sort of less blatant heterochromia.
Clothing: Artist's choice! The clothes of a common working man.
Accessories: If anything, perhaps a loop of rope around an arm or something denoting his work. There's nothing specific he needs.
History: Sebbastien's childhood was entirely normal. His father was Sentinel and his mother a seamstress, both happily married and very much in love. Nobody child expects to lose their parents. Parents are godlike, immortal beings to keep you safe and raise you right, yet at the age of five Seb's family experienced a devastating house fire. He and several others were able to escape with their lives, his parents pushing him down the steps, but the family was separated in the cluttered, smoke-filled halls and the boy's father was nowhere to be found in the gathering crowd.

Refusing to remarry, his devastated mother took up her craft in another abode, and Seb was forced to walk the streets and beg for coin and food. A little boy was cause for pity in the city and he and his mother did well right up until his mother was struck ill. A terrible disease ravaged her body and took her from him, and for a time Seb was out on the streets on his own. The loss was not so life-altering as his father's, considering a somewhat strained relationship between the two and a general distance that one would likely not consider motherly. At first he found a job as an errand boy for a local trader, but it was not enough to support him comfortably and he saw no room for promotion. A few years ago, the boy, now a young man, sought out better work and found himself at the doorstep of a noble in Orrod known for his animal training business. Now he works for the man as a laborer and lives in his own small room at the grounds where he can keep a watch over the animals at night. He dreams of one day making something of himself, and he's pretty sure he'd succeed if only given the chance!

So far so good :} I'm happy to see someone looking for a fire earthling that isn't a noble lol

The only questions I have right now are:

How does Seb feel about his mother's refusal to remarry and causing hardship for the both of them?

What is his relationship with his mother?

How does he feel about his father's death?

What influenced his thoughts to be generally against the war?

I'm terrible at working things into profiles after the fact, bit I tried! herk

So I figured perhaps I should answer these here as well in case my little inserts aren't really good enough.

- Seb barely remembers a time before his father's death, so I can't say he's particularly upset with his mother for being what he's always known her to be. They've just sort of always been poor, just sort of always needed a little extra money from time to time. It was just his life.

- Uh. She's dead. I read back and I totally didn't make that clear. >___>; In young life, though, she was not so affectionate and often unhappy, so they never really bonded beyond those first few years. She was up to her own things making her life miserable, but she always provided, so he won't hold that against her either. She didn't feel like a mother to him, though, at least not in the traditional sense.

- He barely remembers the guy. From time to time he wishes he didn't die and they had all stuck together and not been so hard-off, but he did and they did, so he remembers the man the best he can and probably has a bit of a fantastical view of him, because what 5-year-old doesn't think their dad is Superman?

- I feel like a part of it is that he's never really connected with society. He always sort of felt like a floater, and so didn't really care what went on outside of his own little world. In that way, he was able to form his own beliefs. He hasn't met any "foreigners" and hears about how pathetic they are, but thinks that they're probably just people too, right? So conquering by war is not necessarily something that he believes in. It's not so much a belief against the Obans as it is a belief against running in and stabbing people in the heart. He's a peaceful sort, generally speaking, so would much rather introduce and maybe meld worlds and ideals than lunge in with weapons drawn. He's not against his own people, but he's not against other people either. He's not quite Loyalist or Resistance, he just believes the entire situation is a little effed-up an could use some rethinking. I don't think he'd particularly see Earthlings/Alkidikes as equals in reality either. His people are the best people, just look at their big sprawling cities and your little piddly huts and tree forts, but hello my name is Sebastien I am curious about your life, so sorry my brothers and sisters are killing your brothers and sisters. Never mind the fact that he willingly cares for and assists in training the war-beasts that are crushing people to death because he doesn't want to speak up about his beliefs for feelings of respect and perhaps fearing a kick in the pants about reaffirming his honor and somesuch.
