Raito focused on the light in his blood, bring it to his eyes, making them glow brightly for a few seconds before letting the power slide away. He was practicing the Ulun'Suti power that he had, the ability to make himself glow. His horn was always glowing. Rai hadn't figured out why that was yet, but he would, and probably figure out a way to make it dim, or go out entirely if he wanted. Light was his gift, his power, and he wanted to be able to use it as best he could.

It still made him tired after too much practice. That was why he was working only on making his eyes glow at the moment. The smaller he worked, the smaller the gains, but he could go for longer. Rai could manage a few full body glows before he had to go sleep it off.

And since he wasn't close to where he called home, he didn't want to have to find a place he could sleep. While he could protect himself, he didn't think he could from a dead sleep. So, a little practice, a little wandering, that was his plan for the day.

He hadn't gone many places yet, being new here. And he hadn't met any of the Soquili he was looking for. He was half unicorn as well, and he wanted to learn their art of healing, but he had yet to run across a Unicorn, or even a half-breed like himself. He wanted a mentor, someone to teach him. But... The search for a compatible one had just begun. He didn't think he would stumble across one in the woods. But Rai did have hope.

'Fayth stick together...' The Wandering Lady that was his granddam always said. It was a simple thing, only three words. But words that were part wisdom and part mantra, both reassuring and to serve as a reminder. 'Remember, my Darling: Fayth stick together...'

And Arioso remembered, knew that even scattered to the winds their family would reunite. Whistle told him so, and she wouldn't lie. Not about this. Family was important, to the Fayth. Vital. That was why they always returned. That was where their strength lay. 'Fayth stick together... And if you ever get lost, my Darling, I will find you...'

But this morning Arioso wasn't lost, per say. No, not really. He wandered willingly away from his parents and his sleeping sister, intent on exploring the woods. His granddam and grandsire lived not far from here, so he expected it was safe enough to wander between the grove his parents claimed and the one that housed his grandparents. True enough, they were quite a walk from this place, but he was not seeking them. He was content to search for something else, something new.

And so the half-Unicorn colt frisked through the wood, his bright sunset-coat and markings glimmering in the shadow of the trees. The glow of his eyes, horn and hooves were bright, able to light his way even in the darkest of nights. His markings, wings, glyph and the painted splashes from his mother, were all likewise lit. He didn't much understand it, yet, though he was beginning to. The short version was that he was a Fayth, and that was what they did.

That much was certainly apparent, when considering his father, grandmother and grandfather all in a group. He didn't yet know what his role would be in all of this, but he knew something was coming. And whatever it was, he'd be ready for it. Which meant exploring and learning all he could, as soon as he could.

Which meant that when his path crossed with a strange stallion emitting a gentle sort of light, Arioso stepped boldly into the glade and asked the first question that came to his mind. "What are you doing?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 24, 2014 11:39 am

Raito took a deep breath and started his exercise again, feeling the the light on his nose this time, holding it like he was holding his breath, and letting it go. He watched the light fade out with his breath. It was an interesting way to practice, and he enjoyed it. But he was done for the time being. He was at that line where he would need to stop and rest if he continued. Instead of pushing the line, he shook out his mane and stretched his wings. His horn still glowed, though, and that would lead him through the the darkest woods, if he wanted.

But the sun was bright, and this clearing had a well lit path winding off to the west. He might go that way, since it lead in the direction of home. Then he could really push the boundaries of his power, and take a nice long nap afterward.

Well, that had been his plan until a little colt stepped into the glade and asked him what he was doing. Rai waited for a moment, surprised when either a mare or a stallion didn't step out after the young one with the strange glowing markings. Then the horn caught his attention and Rai started hoping that the unicorn that had sired the colt would show. Maybe he, or she, was a healer and could teach him.

That left him with the colt, though. And trying to explain what he was doing to someone who seemed to glow naturally, like his horn. "Um." He folded his wings back, looking down at the little unicorn with a faint smile. "I am practicing."

He looked at the woods behind the foal again, still half expecting for a parent to come out and try to attack him. Apparently some 'evil' types had wings similar to his. He'd have to explain that he wasn't like those, at all. He was half Light Ulun'Suti, half unicorn, how could he be evil?

"Except for my horn, I don't glow constantly like you seem to, little one." He answered more fully. "So I am practicing so I can glow brighter, and for longer periods of time."

He glanced at the woods again and sighed. "Now I have answered your question, you must answer one of mine. Where are your parents?"

Arioso considered the stranger in interest, watching as the glow seemed to intensify for a moment before it went out. While that could be quite useful, he wasn't sure the same trick would even work on him. He wasn't sure there had ever been an instance with a Fayth wanted to dim their glow? He would have to ask his father, or Grandma Whistle. One of them would know...

Still, if anyone could teach him such a thing... This stallion would be the one, since he seemed to already have the skill down. Maybe they could trade lessons, if Ari or any of his kin had a skill the stranger wanted to learn. But that was something to discuss later.

"Practicing?" He tilted his head curiously. It certainly wasn't something he had to worry about, not with this anyway. "Oh... I guess that makes a certain kind of sense."

If he learned what this stranger was doing, perhaps he could focus and brighten or dim his glow as needed. It would be useful, though he didn't know how yet... But he was young, and had time to figure out out... Probably after he figured out if this was even possible.

"Seems fair." He murmured, when the stallion made the point regarding his questions. "My parents and sister are sleeping, back in our home glade."

He flicked his tail back in the direction he had come, then gestured with his nose in the opposite direction. "And my grandparents live in that direction... Why?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 04, 2014 9:33 am

"Yes, practicing." Raito looked down at the foal, trying to figure out if he'd seen marking such as those before. He didn't think he had, but they were definitely intriguing. He'd never seen anyone who glowed without having to work for it. Of course, he'd never met anyone else who glowed. Period. It was something of a rarity, apparently. Or so he thought. There weren't many others that he'd met. Limit to none, actually. "Yes, it does. I can already go much longer, much brighter than when I was younger." The foal seemed to be thinking of something, and he couldn't help but wonder what.

Raito nodded slowly, glad the foal's parents weren't too far away. It might mean some fast explaining if they came after him, but maybe he could entertain the colt until his parents came for him. It would keep him from wandering off and getting into trouble, at any rate. "I'm glad they are close by." He glanced behind him quickly. "Were you going to see your grandparents?" Shifting from hoof to hoof, he wondered if he should let him pass. There were things in the woods, though, that might eat him. Perhaps he should escort him in one direction, or another. "Why? Because you are awfully young to be wandering around on your own."

"There are plenty of things that would want to hurt an youngling like yourself. And... you don't exactly blend in, if you know what I mean." He made his hooves glow for a second, before it too faded. "It can be dangerous. You shouldn't go alone."

Now he really was volunteering himself to go with the boy, in either direction. He didn't want to see him harmed in anyway. It just wouldn't be right for someone so young, and so bright, to be harmed in this forest. Raito would see him safely back to his parents, or to his grandparents. Or, he would end up following the colt around until one of those things happened. So much for practicing.

With a thoughtful tilt of his head, the colt considered his new-found companion in interest. The horn was reassuring, of course… It was the main reason he remained in the glade even as he faced one who could be a danger to him… But his father had warned him of the thin, membranous wings and the danger they could bespoke. While this one was no Kalona, he could still be dangerous, unicorn horn or not.

Arioso had heard stories of the fearsome and mad half-breeds… Both Kalona and Unicorn, Hunter and Healer. He had no wish to cross them, nor to be someone’s dinner. He had a whole life ahead of him! But that didn’t mean he’d hide in his father’s shadow or cower under his mother’s wing. He would live and explore and learn all he could.

Which is why he was speaking to this stranger with his peculiar glow… A talent similar to that of Arioso’s kin, but unlike at the same time. A distant cousin? Or just a kindred spirit on the same path?

‘Practicing.’ Arioso mused silently to himself. He understood of course that Healers must practice their gifts, as his father had told him… So they stated with little hurts, a scratch or what-have-you, and then they worked to larger things… To bites or deep gashes, perhaps even broken bones. And he of course heard some of the elders speaking of their crafts. Trackers, warriors, even story-weavers started somewhere, and practice is what got them to levels of mastery.

Arioso swished his tail, pacing a gentle line as he remained out of reach, recalling some of his father’s early lessons at being a warrior or at least a survivor. ‘Don’t tense up… Don’t freeze… Remain loose-muscled and out of reach if you can… Evaluate the situation, if you can run, and you need to run, be ready to…’

“They usually are close by.” Arioso returned lightly, watching the stallion glance back over his shoulder and then back. “Fayth’s stick together… It is in our nature.”

The question made him tilt his head, then shrug. “Sooner or later I would have done.. But it is not so much the destination as the journey. And I am not out and about only to see my grandparents, but to see what I may along the way. Why?”

It was perhaps his favorite question.

Arioso grinned, tilting his head. “I am not sure there are rules as to how young or old one must be to wander… If your hooves can carry you, can you not make the journey? So then it follows I am old enough, for my hooves have carried me here.. And they have traveled this way many time before.”
He gave a stout little stomp, to prove his point. “I am not born to blend in, but meant to stand out. And so it begins now, if only in my hide and my word, but soon with the sharing of my heart and my actions.”

Arioso Canto lifted his chin, a light in his eyes for a moment as he challenged the stranger and spoke of the future he knew he was his. He would be great, one day… He would make his family proud one day... But there was no reason he could not begin today.

“I thank you for the concern and the offer, but I am not sure what my grandparents would say if I brought a stranger home… Even one so interesting as yourself.” Ari laughed and shook his head. “My father might not be amused either, but he would at least be able to tell if you were a good unicorn or not.”

Raito wondered if the fact that they shared similar horns, a mark of unicorn blood, was the only reason that the colt hadn't fled yet. Carefully folding his wings down to make them as unobtrusive as possible, he flicked his tail back and forth, and wandered what to do about this little one. He really didn't believe that the colt should be out on his own, especially at his age. Of course, that was the time when most wanted to explore the world on their own. He wasn't immune to that desire, though as he aged, he began to long for the companionship of a good friend, or a lover even, on his travels. Something to break up the monotony of his daily life of practice and travel.

But that was something for another time, and another soul. This one had a family, and was far to young to come traveling with him.

Though he did seem smart. Perhaps his father had taught him something of the need to be cautious around strangers. It was in his stance. Raito kept himself relaxed, trying to appear as though he was no threat. Since the little one was of no threat to him, anyway, he didn't have much to fear. He shifted from one foot to the other, watching him. "Fayth, hmm? Is that what your family is called?"

Raito had never heard of them, but, then, he'd not heard of many people, so it wasn't that much of a surprise. Maybe he would make the effort to meet the others at some point. Maybe sooner than he thought, because he might just take the foal back to his parents and have done.

"And if you stick together, why are you out here all on your lonesome?" He queried.

Raito huffed a laugh. "I suppose that, of all things, is true. While it may not be the smartest thing to do, I can't fault you for wanting to see the world, as it is. To share in it can be a wondrous thing. Or a terrible one." He smiled softly. "But I suppose that is what makes it an adventure. That is what makes the journey worth taking."

Nodding his head in agreement, he felt a sudden loss of his own. He missed the days when he wasn't so... obsessed with training his power, when he would jump off cliffs just to see how far he could glide on smaller wings. When he, too, would go somewhere just to say that he had gone. Maybe he had something to learn from the colt, rather than the other way around.

"I wasn't born to blend in either." He smiled, lighting up his body for a moment. "But to stand out in the darkness. Perhaps we have more in common than I first thought, little one." Raito bowed his head slightly. "I almost look forward to a time when you are fully grown and begin sharing your heart."

Raito snorted softly and shook his head. "I am only part Unicorn, but if you would take my word, I could tell you that I am, indeed, good.I think I might like to meet your family, at some point. But..." He grinned, recognizing it for what it was. "I do understand your unwillingness to expose your family to any kind of danger. It's very... responsible." He couldn't help but sound a little condescending on that last word, biting back the urge to laugh.

The fact that the stranger seemed concerned with his welfare made Arioso think that maybe -just maybe- he could trust this stranger. Well, that and his unicorn horn. But the wings were alarming, were an indication of something dangerous, something predatory. So Arioso remained unsure, pacing with a restless grace that could be a foal's refusal to be still, or a young warrior's early attempts at remaining in motion and elusive.

Even as the stallion relaxed, Arioso remained alert.

"Yes." He murmured in response to the question. "We are Fayth... In general our Clan name is considered to be Faythren, in this land. We are some generations strong, in this land, but several relatives are wandering far and we search for them."

He considered for a moment, and then gave a shrug and a flick of his short white tail. "This is not our homeland, my grandparents merely settled here after their homeland was lost. Some of their children, my father among them, found their way here as well... Others we are still waiting for."

"I am looking for those of us who are lost... And just looking, too." Arioso admitted. "Fayth have restless hooves, have wandering in our heart. Our love is true and solid, but travel is in our blood. Until more of us have gathered here, we are all in search of those who will help this place feel like home."

It didn't matter this was the only home he had ever known, he still felt the restless tide of their blood... The pull toward his family that stood in this land, and away, surely toward those who wandered far. There was no avoiding it, only managing it... And he was too young to be very good at it, so he did what he could and he wandered when the urge became too great.

Hence, the adventure of the day, which had lead to this peculiar stranger. Arioso canted his head to one side, giving the stallion an appraising glance. "We learn more from danger than from safety."

Arioso grinned up at the stranger when he admitted they were similar, his tail flicking back and forth in scarecely contained glee. "If you stand against the dark, I know we do!"

Maybe this one could be an ally, could be someone the Clan offered friendship and aid in return for his own. Arioso danced on his hooves at the thought, giving a soft, joyous laugh. "Nana says I talk an awful lot now, she tells me I may not have any secrets when I am older. But I will tell her you think otherwise, it is nice to have someone on my side."

Part Unicorn... Part what? It made sense, and it raised more questions, all at once. This is certainly more exciting than sitting around in the clearing and waiting for his family to approve an adventure. Even if the stallion was sort of teasing him about being responsible with his family above his own safety.

"You seem good." The colt gave a faint shrug. "Maybe I will take you to the see them, later... Are you from here? Do you have family here?"

Raito was amused by the caution that the foal was continuing to show. It was smart, because there were many things out in the wilds that would take advantage of a trusting foal.

Strangers from a stranger land, probably. It made sense. The markings that he bore were nothing like the ones that Raito had seen in his travels. They were obviously clan markings, of some sort, and it would be interesting to see what other patterns and colors his family came in.

"It must be hard to wait for family to show. Especially if you don't know where, or when, they will be arriving." He didn't want to add the 'if at all', but it hung in the air anyway. "Does all of your family wander, then?" Shakes his head at the image of each and every one of the faceless Faythren clan stumbling out of their baskets and wandering off into the great unknown.

"I think we are all searching for those who would make this place feel like a home." Again, he was accosted with the feeling of loneliness that had been lurking in the back of his mind since he'd arrived here, at this place. He had no memory of any other places, of course, so he didn't know why he should feel such, but he did. Perhaps it was just part of his nature to seek out someone, or a group of someones, to keep him company. He'd never really thought about it that much.

"We only learn more from danger if we survive it." Raito countered.

Slightly surprised at the foal's grin, he let the light seep back into his skin a bit, a faint glow casting strange shadows around them. Rai smiled and nodded. "Yes, I stand against the dark, bring light to those who need it. That is my... purpose here, I think." He tilted his head to the side. "I'm glad we have that in common. It could have been a real point of contention if we didn't."

Laughing, Raito watched the foal dance around, seemingly trusting him now. He couldn't say he didn't enjoy having that fragile trust, rather than the stiff caution. It was a much more pleasant feeling.

"Oh, I think you can keep your secrets just fine, little one." He nodded. "After all, just because you talk a lot doesn't mean you are talking about anything relevant to what you want to keep hidden, right?" With a snort, he rolled his shoulders back, wings twitching. "It's like hiding a needle in a haystack. How can someone determine what your secret is if you keep talking about the weather, or that filly you met the other day. If others think you are transparent, then they will never look deeper for what you want to hide." He paused for a moment. "Though I probably shouldn't have told you that. Honesty being the best policy and all that."

Outright grinning at the 'you seem good', Rai nodded. He could spend the day with the foal, keep him safe, until he could return him to his family. "I... am not sure where I am from. Perhaps here, perhaps somewhere else. All I know is that I am here now, and that is what is important to me."

Raito paused again, swishing his tail back and forth. "I have no family."

If nothing else, this stranger would prove that appearances could indeed be decieving. As things stood, the stallion had not made any move to harm him yet.. Maybe his wings were different than the ones that his father had tried to describe to him. Maybe they were the same, and it just depended on the Soquili who wore them. On the one hand it would make things a lot harder to guess at, on the other...

Well, he was safe for now, and that was good enough. But Arioso couldn't wait to bring back his findings to his father, and perhaps share the information with his grandmother and grandfather. It would be interesting to hear their thoughts on his new friend and what it all meant.

"I think it is wearing on those who have been looking the longest." He admitted after a moment of silent thought. The next moment the colt lifted his chin slightly, a stubborn glint in his bright eyes. "It is hard to hold out hope with no sign, no word from those you love most that have found themselves lost and far away from you. But my family is strong in their loyalty and even stronger in their love... And we'll hold out hope, rooted in that strength and love. And one day, we'll find those who have been lost."

He didn't really want to address the undertone of the stallion's words, the wordless doubt that they would in fact be reuinted with their lost relatives. That was, painful to think of.

"Yes, I think it is safe to say nearly all the Fayths are wanderers. We are steadfast in love, but light on our feet. Perhaps one day, if the Clan is restored and we establish true herdlands, that will change..." Arioso considered it for a moment. "But I rather think it will just give us a place to return to once we have finished our wandering, a place to find shelter after our journey."

It made sense that everyone was searching for something, so he nodded in agreement at that. The statement about danger made him grin and give a flick of his tail. "I think you learn regardless, you just don't get to put that knowledge into practice if you find yourself eaten... Or something."

The glow made his ears pitch forward, eyes wide and fixed on the stranger as he watched the light return. That was a new trick, even by his reconing... and an interesting one.

"Neat." He murmured as he watched the glow. "A good purpose, too. Better than the alternative, and this way we really can be friends."

He frisked in a circle, trying to get a look at Raito from all sides as he made note of the strange glowing ability that the stallion had. Raito's mention of his secrets made Arioso drift back to a stop, considering the one who stood so much taller than him.

"That's true." He agreed cautiously to Raito's statement of how he kept his secrets, and grinned at the faint joke. "I won't tell you told me, if you like... And it seems like a sound enough conclusion one might come to after enough socialization. I don't have to tell my Clan that it was -you- who taught me that..."

The sunshine colored colt gave him a hopeful grin, but it faded to a soft, sad understanding when Raito talked about his lack of homeland or family. "We are all of this land, now... And sometimes we are lucky enough to find pieces of our old life to make that change more smooth, and sometimes we lose everything and are forced to begin again. I am born of this land, but with my Clan so strongly rooted 'elsewhere', I will still quest for the others. I am sorry you do not have a family to find... But mine will still be happy to meet you, regardless."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 23, 2015 4:50 pm

"I ca imagine it would be tiring for those who seek and don't find." Raito nodded his head once, feeling almos bad for them. It's true, while he had no family or anyone to search for, he could imagine what it would be like to endlessly search for those he loved. Even, not knowing if they were alive or dead. It had to be harder than it seemed, even for the young one. "I hope that you do find them, for all your sake's. Thought, it must make for amazing reunions when you do find your family. I can't even imagine the joy."

Raito laughd softly, shaking his head. "I would hope that the stakes weren't as high as learning or gtting eaten. That is a bit dramatic. Most have a chance to learn or harmed, not dead. Or just get in trouble." He winked, resolving to amke sure the foal wouldn't be put in the postion of being eaten while he was around.. He wasn't sure, of course, who would want to eat a foal but hee knew there were those out there who would do him harm. If only because he was young and vunerable There could be those who would want to harm him for other reasons, family, markings, breed, what have you. Unfortunately, some Soguili were just... evil.

Ratio flaredhis wings out, letting them light up in pulses along the boning as the colt decided to have a look at him. It was amusing, to say the least, that he was so interested in what seemed like to Rai, something so simple. He was born with this gift, so it wasn't like it was something new to him. Still, he liked showing off.

"Yes, I could imagine that it would be difficult for you to be friends with someone of the darker paths. I don't think it is something I would be able to do either, to be honest. But, I have not met anyone of that following, so I cannot say for sure." Rai smiled at him, amused.

Laughing, he shook his head "That would be appreciated, but you have no need of lying. While I am sure it wouldn't be too bad for your family to know, I doubt that the skill would do you any good if they did. Once you know to get to the point with someone, it is much easier to stop that particular trick."

Rai shrugged his shoulders. folding his wings back down and eying the young one. "It is good to have a past, but don't hold onto it at the detrement of your future.." He brightened a little. Figurativly. "I think I would enjoy meeting your family. I do not remember what it is like to have one so... It would be interesting to say the least."

Arioso listened to the stranger's words and then gave a faint shrug, unwilling to dwell too deeply on the thought 'what if we never find them?'. After all, it was a very real possibility, but they were Fayth... Fayth stuck together. Which meant Fayth wouldn't give up until they were all home again, and one day when he was old enough, he would help search.

The mention of joy made him nod faintly, for he had heard his grandmother speak of her glee in being found by her made and third-born son. She still had that joy when face with Kel, and it had also now stretched to include Arioso and his sister. Because of that, he couldn't help but feel his own version of the emotion rise whenever he was given the chance to visit with her. She was quickly becoming his favorite teacher as well.

"Could happen." He murmured lightly, regarding the possibility of something dangerous eating him. "Happened to my Grandparent's foals, the first ones they had in this land. Skinwalker."

His muscles twitched unhappily, tension singing through him as he cast a look about, glowing gaze serious for a colt his age. He couldn't see any signs of the great predators and hadn't heard or scented something... But it was a good thing to be aware of as he was wandering on his own.

Still, with Raito's soft grin and the teasing wink, Arioso was inclined to think he was safe where he stood. Pushing such troubling thoughts aside, the colt instead concentrated on circling the strange stallion, noting his peculiar wings and the spurs on his hind legs. However, when the glow brightened and ran along the strange wings, he couldn't help but be intrigued. Arioso didn't have wings, merely markings that resembled them. Sometimes he longed for the feeling of flight, and those with wings usually fascinated him.

"Not really met any." He mumbled as he considered the wings. "Ran from a few? Got away, didn't have to talk to them to find out if we could be friends. Didn't want Nana to yell at me, or Da if he found out. They can be scary, when they want to."

Still the fact that Raito didn't want him to lie to his family was another good sign, right? If he had been encouraged to lie, it would have made him wonder if the stranger was up to no good, glowing light or not. Still, the stallion seemed staunchly on the side of truth and right, and his counsel was wise to the colt's ears.

"I will not let the past destroy my future... But I do recognize there is wisdom to be gained and lessons learned there...And I want to learn all I can to do good where I may, and avoid harm." He promised softly, then grinned. "You will? Good. They'll be interested to know you. Da isn't too far off, and I am sure Nana and Grandsire will be along to see him later today."

He hopped in place, suddenly thrilled with the prospect of introducing his new friend to the Clan.

PostPosted: Sat May 16, 2015 1:25 pm

Riato's ears perked forward, something like alarm fizzling through him for a moment at the mention of a Skinwalker. He'd heard about them, but had never seen one, not in person. The idea of one, though, made him uneasy, shifting on his hooves and casting a dark look into the trees around them.

Normally, he wouldn't be considered. He knew that Skinwalkers were strong, dangerous, vicious. But he could handle himself, he knew that too. Long enough to get away, at the very least. Probably well enough to do some decent damage of his own, though that is not the way his nature wanted him to behave.

He didn't think he could hold off a Skinwalker if it's goal was the colt he was with. Well, not without taking damage. That would be a problem, but if it came down to it, he would put his life on the line so that the colt would have enough time to get back to his family.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I can't imagine the pain that your family had to go through." He dipped his head, a moment of silence for those who had passed beyond their world, a moment's wish of peace for them. Part of him, though, was amused that the foal was going through the same motions as he, checking to make sure there was nothing evil lurking in the shadows, waiting to harm them. It was good that he was paying attention.

Rai waited while the foal studied him, letting the light play out for another moment or too, the pattern reflecting his amusement. He did let it flicker and die, though, feeling the beginnings of strain. There was only so much he could do, after all, and he'd been at it for a while before the colt had shown up. It wouldn't do anyone any good if he tired himself out so completely he couldn't make it home. Or protect his new friend, should the need arise.

Laugher rumbling around in his chest at the thought of Ari stumbling across the path of one who followed one of the darker paths, and getting away swiftly. "As long as you continue to get away, I don't see why would you want to talk to them." Shaking his head, Raito smirked. "I can imagine that your family can be quite scary, if you have a tendency do disappear and they get into trouble. They just want to make sure you are safe." He assumed. They sounded like a good family to have.

Rai nodded sagely, wishing he had such a rich history to draw wisdom from. Of course, he got along just fine as himself, by himself, without the experiences of others to guide him. Still, some lessons would have been nice to learn by watching others make mistakes, rather than making them on his own.

"As excited as you seem to be for me to meet your family..." And he really did seem excited. "We seem to have forgotten a step. Mainly, the one concerning names an introductions." Laughing softly, he bowed in the colts direction. "I am Raito, can I know your name?"

Arioso didn't much want to share tales of his Grandparents losing their baskets. It was something he was aware of, but didn't much want to linger on. There was a chance he would come to harm each time he wandered the lands, and his family told him that, but the baskets had been shredded and the foals killed in their home glade, so danger was there too. There was no winning, as far as he could tell, and he wouldn't let the idea of danger keep him from living his life.

"We have lost much, but there are others who have lost more." He returned after several moments of silence, his voice soft. "With the attack of the Great Herd, there are many families still missing those they love. My Father misses his siblings, even the ones he will never meet. Still, we go on, trying to do what good we can where we can."

He eagerly watched the last of the light, enjoying the flickering dance. Light was always intriguing to him, particularly when it interacted with shadow and dark. It was not surprising, considering their line... A legacy his Nana had once explained. What would she make of this new friend of his, should they meet? Arioso couldn't wait to find out.

"Happily, I have been fortunate so far, and no discussions have need occurred. Though it would be nice to know I could talk my way out of trouble if I ever found myself neck-deep." Arioso smiled up at the stallion, amused at his laughter. "They are fierce in their love and loyalty, and anything challenging that will feel their ire. Scary is as good a word as any, but I love them dearly and would not trade them for anything."

He took a few skittering steps, glee rolling through him and making his coat sunshine bright, the painted markings glimmering like backlit clouds. "Well, that was foolish and careless on my behalf... Introductions should probably come first, before a great deal of this. Forgive me, Raito, and it is a pleasure to meet you. I am Arioso Canto, just Arioso is fine."
