When someone else's words managed to crawl into the more conscious portions of Mimsy's mind and attach with such a permanence that they affected her ability to work, it was typically in a very negative sense. The praises that their new Division Assistant had spoken to her through Twitter were an anomaly in this regard, a welcome exception to the rule that always seemed to end in inefficiency. The surge in her already respectable productivity for the day was impossible to ignore - as were the small mountain of questions that arose after having Mary's professional relationship with their Leader on her mind for so long.

At the end of her scheduled hours, she stopped by her home to change her clothes and retrieve (what she hoped would be) a suitable offering to exchange for an unannounced visit, and navigated towards an office that she had not seen in almost a year. She tried to avoid thinking about that particular series of events as she lifted her hand to knock--then slowly let it fall to her side as she noticed that the room was unoccupied.

"I know," she mumbled, before Svensyl could recite her own opinions about the importance of scheduling beforehand at length.

Good evening, sir! Might you be available to speak with me at the moment? It is not a topic of urgency, but one that I hope to discuss with you specifically nonetheless.

There was no immediate answer, but after a good five minutes, the figure of Mary Worth could be seen walking toward the Mimsy. He didn't keep his footsteps quiet or try to sneak up on her, instead giving her a wave even before getting into talking distance. "Hey, Dr. Morris. Sorry I don't keep to the office, the boss gave it to me, but it's a bit too sad even for me. Plus they say it's cursed," dark, bushy eyebrows raised in alarm. "Boss went through a lot of assistants trying to fill the gap. At the end of the day, though," he confided, "I'm just not a desk guy. Better to go to the people trying to get work done instead of making them drop what they're doing to come to me, right?"

Patience was one of the approximately two virtues that Mimsy possessed, especially in matters of particular importance, so the wait was not troublesome. The lack of response might have been a cause for concern if she had known him any better, but she was putting a great deal of effort into not making too many assumptions - even if she had already made one too many by presuming that he would be in the office.

She bristled with pride as she heard him use the title of doctor again, pleased by his consistent attention to that detail, and briefly bowed her head in greeting.

"Hello, sir. Please, there is no need for apologies. I understand entirely." Except maybe for the 'sad' bit. Sad had nothing to do with it. "I would much prefer for you to work where you are most comfortable, considering the efforts that you have already put forth to provide us with ease and accessibility in our own work."

As she finished speaking, she offered what she'd carried with her: a small, fresh rum cake that was lightly dusted with powdered sugar, and an unopened bottle of rum that she'd intended to put into another cake, before a greater opportunity arose.

"I am not certain if you generally partake in either of these indulgences, but I felt confident that you could make use of them regardless, considering the apparent demand." She smiled, crooked with the particular strain of anxiety that always tended to plague her conversations with someone she considered to be her superior. "Either way...I hoped that they might be beneficial enough to allow me to have some of your time, for inquiries of wholly personal interests. I recall that you mentioned that you have worked with Dr. H for quite some time."

The smile remained, but the tilt of her brows seemed to provide an expression faintly indicative of a plea.

"I assure you that this is not ill-intentioned. I have the highest respect for Dr. H, and am truly honored to work beneath him. That is precisely why...well." She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, and cleared her throat before continuing. "It was so simple to just Google the superiors that I admired to learn of their life and accomplishments, but we do not have the same luxury here. As such, I was hoping that you might share some of what you are comfortable divulging of what you know about him, predating my arrival here in 2012. And if I may do more to repay this tremendous favor, please ask anything of me that I am capable of providing, and I will gladly oblige."
