Umeko was up early the fog still hadn't lifted from most of the pride's lands. She was still reeling from the meeting with Bjorn the blue lion last night. She hadn't liked being talked down to, in her mind being freeborn was a worthy title and just because he was a Reaver didn't give him power to talk down to her. It wasn't as if she was a Thrall.
She shook her head she needed to get these negative thoughts out of her head. She refused to let one annoying Reaverhold her back. Today was a new day, and today she was going to make a new friends.

Ansa didn't really worry about much. She knew she had a tight family, one that would defend each other to the death. She knew she had her brother. Ansa was just happy to be alive, really. She thought of life as an adventure.
Ansa, despite being as friendly and open as she was.. Didn't really have any friends. She spent most of her time with her mother, or her siblings. It was nice being comfortable, and going outside of her box rather scared her.
But when she saw someone else in the lands she often wandered.. Her spirits brightened. She smiled, and trotted over.
"Hi." She grinned at the dark lioness, her tail flipping side to side.

Umeko turned and smiled at the lioness who had greeted her. Umeko wasn't one to talk to a lot of others, in fact there was only her mother and one other friend that she had in the pride. It would be to her benefit to make more friends.
"Why hello." she greeted the lioness. She was studying her quickly as she made her approach. The lioness was younger then her, but that wasn't a problem. If someone was willing to be friendly Umeko really shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.
"My name is Umeko, how are you today?" Umeko was on the friendly side for a stromborn but as far as she was concerned that was a good thing.

Small talk wasn't normally Ansa's thing. She wasn't sure how to be social, and she felt she came off more awkward than anything. She was gonna give this the old college try though. Mother said to meet more stormborn, so today was going to be that day.
"Pleasure Umeko. I am Ansa, but my friends call me Annie. It's a good day to die." She said with a chirp, sitting on the stone and letting her tail flick idly beside her. When it came to friendly, Ansa was on that side as well. Going so far as to sometimes be teased for not being as tough as she should have been as a youngster. But she always had her brother there for her support.
"How are you?"

Umeko could tell the younger lioness was a little on the uncomfortable side but she figured she should make the best of it, the younger female seemed friendly enough.
"Well Ansa its nice to meet you too." she said as she took a seat.
"I am alright, having a bit of trouble with a reaver if I am to be honest." Umeko told Ansa. It wasn't uncommon in the pride for Freeborns to be looked down on by Reavers. Umeko didn't fully understand why though it wasn't as if they were thrawls, they were born into the pride just the same as Reavers were.

She visibly relaxed when the other said such pleasantries. It was always hit or miss in the temperament of the Stormborn. Even her own brother could have his bad days, and then you'd best avoid him. Though while Ansa was friendly, she was not sensitive. It was hard to hurt her feelings, and she generally had pretty tough skin.
"Trouble? What kind of trouble?" She asked, cocking her head as she stared up at the older female. She was still young, but Ansa was younger, or at least she thought so. She had mostly freeborn in her own family, but she had always wondered what it would have been like to be a Reaver. It was far too brutal for her, but that didn't stop her from wondering.
"I tend to stay away from the Reavers. My family being Freeborn, I tend to stick closer to them." She admitted to herself that she wasn't as brave as others, but if she had been needed.. She was sure she could be of use.

Umeko bowed her head, to be honest she was glad to hear that she wasn't the only one that ran into issues with the Reavers. Unfortunately for Umeko she was a nurse so that meant that she was out and attending to their needs far more often than she cared to be seeing as they rarely thanked her for her help.
"Same old issue that we all have I suppose, just one talking to me as if I barely deserve to be in his presence. And telling me off when I have done nothing wrong." Umeko held back the fact that she had been developing fillings for the same Reaver that was making her life hell.
"I suppose i just need to suck it up as there is nothing any freeborn is able to do about a Reaver I suppose." she said a sign of resigning to her fate.

"Ah, yes sounds very normal actually." She said, though a tint of compassion was in her tone. She knew that it was normal, but that didn't make it any more okay, to her. She gave a soft smile, and shrugged her shoulders.
"Unfortunately you are right, but I believe the Gods are always watching." She said with a chuckle. "If they are truly in the wrong, they will be punished for it." Truthfully Ansa relied on the Gods to keep her sane. Because surely they were watching.. and everything had a reason.
"But that doesn't mean you have to do it alone, right?" She smiled warmly. "I wouldn't mind being your friend. Should you choose to be seen with a mere Freeborn, that is." She teased.

The younger lioness was a breath of fresh air. Umeko had to commend the young lioness for having such a good out look on life. As freeborns in the pride it was common to be looked down upon when really they were just as good as any member, there were thralls who were below them to be treated that way. Though to be honest Umeko wouldn't have even treated a thrall the way some of the Reavers treated freeborns.
"Some days I wish that we would all stop doing what we do for them and they would realize our worth." She said with a chuckle, the pride would fall into shambles if it weren't for the freeborns who kept it running while the Reavers were out on their viking trips.
"I think you would make a fine friend in deed. You are a refreshing lioness my dear." Umeko told the younger lioness. "I suppose I should get going though, I told my mother I would be around today and she will be mad if I keep her waiting much longer." Umeko told the lioness. "I do hope our paths will cross again soon though."
Umeko knew that her and the other lioness could become great friends, it was lions like her that this pride needed.
