She'd walked back to the dorm like she was walking on egg-shells, tiptoeing around any rough terrain and avoiding any students that looked like they might make sudden movements.
This was her egg, entrusted to her by Hel, and by Jack Skellington himself,
she would take care of it.
Rationally, she recognized that it was also a good distraction, something to take up her time and keep her mind off of Initiate matters (as she'd dubbed her situation).
Her other minipets already served this function, and another one to pamper certainly couldn't hurt - it would take a bit of time for the fruttens to adjust to the raven, once it hatched, but she was sure that Patty's patience with new creatures would rub off on them, too. He'd sat through the whole frutten flock arriving, after all, and taken it like a champ.
Once back in her room, she located the closest frutten sleeping on a soft surface - Penny curled up on the bed, as it happened - and carefully deposited the egg under her. The minipet took it nicely, chirping sleepily before curling up again and taking no heed of the fact that she was now the designated egg sitter.
Satisfied, the corners of Leo's lips curled upwards. This was good. A pair of the other fruttens were curling around her feet, chirping for attention, and she squatted down to scratch them on the head. "No time for that now, we gotta find a pillow for the egg, alright?"
It'd have to be one of the larger ones, large enough that it could fit an eggwarming frutten, but soft enough that the egg was in no danger. In fact, she was pretty sure she had the perfect thing...
One last scratch and Leo got up, moving to her closet. She sometimes used it when sitting on the floor, but her mom had made it stash it away when it wasn't out for use; rummaging around at the bottom, it didn't take her long to find what she was looking for, and happy, she clutched the pillow. It would be perfect for this.
