The long tail dragged along the warm sand before picking up the familiar feeling of a large conch shell and curled around it. The waves lulled along the edge of beach, letting the foam settle along the edge as the salty water retreated back into the ocean, a few minutes later another lull of water flowed over washing it away before itself retreated. Of course the typical screeches of seagulls sung in the sky as they circled looking for free prey as a chuckle escaped from the blue beast that lingered below. Today was a chipper day Kraken thought as he peered at the shell that was wrapped in his tail making sure that nothing would attempt to snip at his nose. There was nothing unusual about it, the same old same old shell that was always along the beach that you could bring up to your ear and listen to the cooing rush of the ocean. If you weren’t careful something living it would pinch your own ear off. He had that happen once, when he was foal, not thinking about looking inside, but instead just hurrying up to hear the sweet noise of the ocean. Snap the little claw went and there he was running around like in circles trying to dislodge it while Bitey was on her back laughing her hooves off.
Shaking his head he laid the shell back on the beach before moving forward, the thick legs sank as the sand shifted with each of the waves. He kept moving forward letting the waves wash higher and higher on his body before his entire head was swallowed up.
