"(No... I don't want to be together anymore. You're so boring.)" A male Kirlia says to a female Ralts. "(I want to meet a great trainer and become a champion Pokemon.)"
"(B-but we're so happy together!)" The Ralts protests. "(Don't leave me... I love you!)"
"(No, how can you love?)" The male asks. "(We're so young, do we even know what love is? Me, a wild Pokemon and you. One of a massive litter to find a shiny Pokemon, released for being so boring.)"
"(....)" The Ralts frowns. Another person that didn't want her?
"(Good-bye Ralts. May you live a happy, boring life.)" The male Kirlia wanders off out of sight.
The female Pokemon cries softly as she runs off in the other direction. Hatched and abandoned by both trainer and parents. With nothing left she decided she would just wait for her end.
She travels far, though a forest with violent plants and insects. She swims across a small pond, avoiding the path as to not be captured. She sneaks through a city, battling troubling Pokemon on her way through. Now she knew all she had to travel was east. More grass, wild Pokemon and trainers to deal with. Nothing to bad and the Pokemon in the nearby cave ignore her since she's so quiet. It was a good rest since she'd be doing a lot of battling from now on. Three trainers try to stop her on the way to the next city. Thankfully they were using Poison and Fighting types so she was able to win. Nobody wanted her though, they were all training. She lets out a heavy sigh as she travels through the city and hops some rocks over a little ocean breaking up the path.
"Hey Mightyena, a wild Ralts!" A voice shouts. It seems she was destined for another battle. It was fine, her boring skills should still be enough to take out this dog.
"!" She started panicking, noticing her psychic abilities weren't working. Before she realized the battle was still going on, the Mightyena had it's teeth around her body. It crushes her with immense power and she cries out, unable to fight off her attacker.
"Haha what a crappy Pokemon. C'mon Might, let's keep training!"
What a worthless creature she is. Unable to fight now she could do nothing but continue to drag herself to her destination.
She manages to get to a nearby berry field and feed on them to recover. When a Tailow appears to protect it's territory she blasts it with psychic energy. She wouldn't die anywhere but Mt.Pyre, she felt she deserved at least that much; a boring burial place.
Defeating the Tailow with her rage she brought out an internal energy. She felt her body change as her vision went white for a few seconds. After it returned she noticed she was taller now. She had evolved. Now it would be easier to get to her destination.
And it was, she found herself hovering over the water to the entrance in no time. To avoid all the people she decided to climb the mountain. What a struggle! A flimsy loser like her had great difficulty, but she made it. Now to climb to the top and throw herself off. She fights hordes of ghosts on her way up. It would be an uneventful end to an uneventful Pokemon. She had no goals or ambitions. No loves or hates, hobbies, interests, favorite foods. Nothing.
As she was making her way to the top she was suddenly caught in a swarm of Pokemon. They seemed to be going somewhere and unintentionally dragging her with them. She only wanted to end her miserable existence! Why was it so difficult?!
She looks around only to make eye-contact with a human. He had black hair, orange eyes and a large facial scar. He seemed scary! Another person to beat her up and leave her for dead?!
He shouts something and another ghost appears. It was a lawnmower! No, a Rotom possessing a lawnmower!
It blasts her with a wave of electricity, paralyzing her. She had suffered enough now. She had learned something from the ghosts on her way to the summit and was quite angry now. She holds a hand out and a ball of shadow energy appears. She launches it towards the ghost who
is stuck and shouts in pain. It was super-effective!
The Rotom's eyes reflect anger as it fires a Shadow Ball right back. It explodes on contact with her, it hurt so much. She maintains consciousness and cracks a little smile. It seemed she would die on the mountain as she wanted, but as the shitty wild Pokemon she is.
She feels something metallic bop her on the head and her vision goes black.
Her eyes slowly open and she looks around. She was laying on a soft bed in a small room. She could see a dresser across from her and a portrait of Hoenn on the wall. She looks around in a panic and stands up. Her body hasn't felt this well in a long time.
"Don't worry, I brought you to a Pokemon Center. You seemed really injured and tired so I figured it'd be good to get you healed up."
She spins around quickly to see where the voice was coming from. That man! It was him! He kidnapped her! Wait.. No that means she was captured. Great, another person to abandon her. She decided it would be best to get the upper-hand so she dove into his mind with psychic energy.
"Hey, that tickles." The man thinks.
She opens her eyes wide, amazed. He knows she is using psychic powers to read his mind? And he knows how to clear his thoughts when it happens! Who is this guy?!
"Don't be so surprised. I meditate a lot." He smiles. "My name's Jake Birdland but call me Dark. Everyone else does."
She remained silent. She had never met anyone like him before. She found him really interesting.
"Why not read my mind now? I'll let you see my past."
The Kirlia scratches her chin. If she was going to be his partner, even if for one battle before being abandoned, she needed to understand him. Her eyes glow with psychic energy. Marie, Johnathan, Darken and his adventures fill her mind. Everything he's been through! Going from street trash to secret agent in under ten years, so interesting. Yet also sad. He's been through so much worse than she has and yet he continues to want to live. Of course, because he's important.
"Hey hey don't think like that." Dark smiles and pats her on the head. "You don't have to be interesting to be special."
"!!!" How did he know what she was thinking?
"You're still linked to me telepathically."
"Still linked telepathically! Of course!" Her eyes stop glowing. Now what was she going to do? She can't kill herself now, but she certainly can't battle. A weak Pokemon like her can't do anything.
"I'm glad I got a psychic Pokemon. And a Kirlia too." Dark seemed pretty happy. "A great addition to my team for sure. Great movepool and typing, psychic fairy."
Fairy? She didn't know she was a fairy. She didn't feel like one.
"Let's see what you can do...."
Dark then begins going over attacks with the Kirlia, finding out what she knows and doesn't know and using his other Pokemon to explain attacks to her. She seemed to be a very slow learner.
She let's out a heavy, soul-crushing sigh.
"Hey hey, cheer up..." He scratches his chin. "Oh I haven't named you yet, have I? Hmmm.." The two make eye contact and she frowns more. "How about Misery? I think that suits you well."
A name? More connections before she's abandoned? She couldn't help but slouch over and sigh. The letdown from this happiness she felt was going to crush her, she knew it.
"Welcome to the team, Misery. Here you can sit on my shoulder." He lifts her up and places her on his shoulder. It was hard but also kind of comfy. The warm of another being felt nice too, but she knew it wouldn't last. No one ever stays around her.
Her knew life was nice. She had friends, both human and Pokemon and could do what she wants. Unlike other trainers she's heard about, Jake didn't hold a tight leash, in fact he told her if she wanted to leave at any time she could. But they hadn't had a battle yet. She knew her terrible skills would get her kicked out once a battle happened.
She had talked over with Jake about using her psychic powers to help Team Aqua. She would do whatever asked to help Jake. He was her best friend now, even if only for a little while. But she was surprised that her first battle that isn't training would be against Darken, Jake's best friend from childhood! There's no way she would be able to defeat him, she couldn't even beat a Mightyena!
She manages to defeat three of his tough Pokemon! She beat his Starmie with two Thunderbolts. His Gabit with a critical Dazzling Gleam and Tyrunt with a non-critical one. It wasn't until his Combusken came out was she defeated in battle. Prior to that Jake had her steal the Blue Orb back from Darken with her psychic powers. Suddenly she felt like she had a purpose and wasn't trash. She was actually really strong and useful. Maybe not exciting or fun but useful! Maybe she wasn't useful without the guidance of Jake and his Pokemon but... She let's out a heavy sigh. No, she was trash. It was everyone else that made her useful, not her. She had nothing to do with it.
She spends a lot of time with Jake now even going out of her way to spend time with him. Having a trainer is a really nice thing. Most of his Pokemon also tried to spend time with him and he'd always be happy to. They weren't Pokemon to him, but friends. Really important friends. She became so close that she taught him how to disrupt psychic links as well as share her past with him. They're constantly mentally connected any time they're both close together. Even when seemingly normal both are usually communicating. Even if in silence they will share thoughts and ideas.
She wasn't sure but she was thinking she had feelings for him. But that's impossible, only happy Kirlia feel this way towards their trainers. She was never happy, she knows it will all end someday. It always does.
He left her with his Tyranitar after they beat Archie and Maxie. He had to go back to his work and she was left behind to help the team. He really trusted her now. He was also developing feeling towards Maddy. Misery could understand. She was strong, smart and very attractive. She had a leader quality about her that's difficult to resist, but also a bit of innocence. It seemed she would be spending a lot of time with her now. She was jealous in a way, she wondered what it would be like to be Jake's female friend and couple things together.
Jake would visit her time to time by getting her to pick him up telepathically. He would also spend time with Maddy and on the rare occasion stop by to see the team. Misery wasn't sure who she was jealous of now. She had strong feelings for Jake but even stronger feelings for Maddy now. Any time she was close to Jake she could feel something special about Maddy until she no longer needed to be around him.
Was it Jake's fault she started feeling this way about Maddy? Or maybe even humans in general. She never thought about them as anything else but nuisances and now she was considering romantic relationships with them. She had to change this.
Gallades weren't satisfying and were both uptight and boring.
Muk were okay but the smell is too much for her nose. She had become well adapted to human lifestyle.
Gengar annoy her too much.
Most men now seemed to either annoy her or interest her in a specifically non-sexual way. It's almost like she's become something more. She seemed to be almost solely attracted to humans, specifically females. Was this her natural sexuality or something else going on? She was going to ask Jake, but decided not too. He had already asked her to stop acting a certain way and she didn't want to bother the team. Her other Gardevoir friend told her that the team was uncomfortable with them being together. Eventually her partner was also captured by a trainer.
But as time went on she was having trouble hiding it now. She asked Jake about it and he told her to just be herself. She is who she is and can't change herself.
She's Misery, the happy-go-lucky Gardevoir, best friends with Jake Birdland and the rest of his Pokemon. She felt just as strongly of Maddy as Jake did. She also thought of herself as the go-to psychic Pokemon for the team. She was beyond just being someone's Pokemon. She had become an actual member, owning three Pokemon of her own; although Jake looks after them now.
They've had their rough spots. Misery is a little creepy around Maddy and ends up bothering her sometimes. Jake has to tell her to stop. Sometimes she curses herself for being this way. She spent all her life before being bland and boring and now it was too exciting. She kind of wishes she was normal again.
But Jake is still supportive of her and she's happy. There's no way he'd abandon her now, they've been through so much. For once in her life she felt being wrong was a good thing.
"
"Yeah, looks like I get a break from being a secret agent. And you, the agent's agent."
"
"Yeah, I'm tired of the secrecy around friends. Besides, it's not weird for gang members to join these kind of teams."
"
"You found your reason to live?"
""
"That's great news. Now just to come up with a name..."
"
"Oh yeah? Haha it's nice seeing you grow up a bit. "[/i
