The smell of the ocean wasn't all that enjoyable. He was more into the smell of incense and hot stone as odd as it was. The smell of the city- they way it was so alive. It was weird to go from the city of old to... an island that was creeptastic and beach-y. He half expected them to have some kind of set up on the coast, but in his walk there hadn't been anything. Trecjking back to the dorms, he paused, the sight of a girl drawing his, (andSpecchio's) attention. "Hey." He liked her hair. Anything colored was an automatic win in his book. "You been here long- er- on island?"

Lydia had been making her way to the training fields, today opting for a plain white tank top with cut off shorts and laceless shoes to her usual rag tag attire of layered and over sized clothing. She knew that out in the heat of the island, especially while working on mastering her weapon, she was likely to work up a sweat, and while she cared little for her own appearance, she did at least have some regard for other people's sense of smell. Her hair had been freshly dyed only a few days prior, a vibrant shade of blue with a large piece of her bangs bleached white to one side. She found that she was quite enjoying the boldness of her choice in coloring her hair, and while for some time she had considered growing it back out to it's natural boring brown, she had reconsidered and opted to keep it the way it was, though with the newly added flair. She wasn't really paying a lot of attention as she wandered towards the sparring grounds, too busy fiddling with the cat o' nine tails she held in her hand, fingers fingers playing with the multiple knotted cords, her gaze lowered. It was the voice that drew her attention, though at first she had no idea it was speaking to her. She looked up, blinked owlishly from behind neon pink rimmed glasses, and gave a bright grin to the man who it seemed was indeed addressing her. "Oh, hi! Yes, er well...no not long really I suppose. Four months? Is that long?" She began slapping the weapon against the palm of her hand as she spoke, seemingly forgetting all about the fact that she was holding the whip. "Why do you ask?"

She was cute- and probably taken. Speccio was quick to ask him to go for it, only to just as quickly say that no- he should not seek company so soon. A man couldn't look interested too soon after a good sleep. Then you just seemed desperate. Elio didn't care, he just liked her colored hair. "Your hair- it is good to see personality here. I like it." He sighed looking at his own. "I did not do mine before I slept. I miss it- but it is expensive, and now I must wait? Dye is not available here on this island, so I have to... earn favors? It is difficult. People often ask unreasonable gifts for favors and such." Like to take over full shifts of patrols for simple art supplies. It was not worth it. "Four months is a long time. I am..fresh. Elio, Elio Ferrari. No, i am not part of the company that make cars." He threw it out there. It was a common enough name. Why so many assumed it meant you worked with cars- media was really horrid. "Curious." His eyes traveled to her weapon. "Are you skilled yet with your weapon?"

His voice...Lydia had traveled to many parts of the world but was having trouble placing just where this man was from. She stared at him as he spoke, blinking now and again behind the neon rims, her eyebrows raising. "Oh! Oh you're new!" Well, of course, that perhaps explained why he was asking her how long she had been there. "Oh well, the dye? I mean, you can trade....well, favors yes but other things or, well....." Her voice trailed off as she delved into thought on the matter. Her hair hadn't been dyed upon awakening, but it had been done fairly quickly when one of the other hunters had offered, quite kindly, to do it for her. "I could get you some!" She smiled, brightly, because what would have been the point of having such a kind gesture bestowed upon her once if she wouldn't be willing to do the same for somebody else? "I have money, and leave, and it's really no big deal!" She waved the whip around in the air in front of herself and laughed, her face completely lit up with good cheer. But she laughed even harder when he introduced himself and said he was not part of the company that made the cars, each long peal ending in a loud snort. "No...No, of course..." She laughed more, as if he had just told the most wonderful joke, wiping away tears as she finally regained control of herself. "Oh, what? Oh....Well um, I mean sort of? It's just a whip after all but.." She reached up and scratched at her nose, pushing her glasses up further. "Sometimes it's easy, and sometimes I seem to well, flub it all up!" She grinned, not at all ashamed that she wasn't particularly great at using her weapon.

She'd get him dye? His grin was immediate, thinking on how to get the old hair colors he'd used in his past acts. "Bella, I would preform any favor you wanted for a few things. hair dye- maybe just a few things I would not do. Keep some things for extra no?" Winking, he wasn't serious, his mind more focused on the fact she was offering a kindness rather than an honest trade of such nature. "You seem a good person- you take jokes well? That is best for language, for good.. ah-" He snapped his fingers, "-the way to be as one? Not team but ah- organization. Yes!" He stamped his spear into the ground, growing excited by the prospect of learning more about her. "What is your name donna tintura? I want to know so when I get hit I can tell them who taught me their skill." He gave her a lighthearted nod and wink.

She grinned at him in return and waved her whip around some more in a think-nothing-of-it sort of gesture. His offer of favors, those that would be readily given and those that could be saved for...extra...paid very little mind as she let out another giggle. "No need, no need! I'm only happy to help. Now, if you do not mind me asking, am I correct in assuming that you are from Italy?" The name, of course, helped, as did his small usage of the language, but she had never been to Italy before and she did not want to appear presumptuous! "Oh yes." She smiled, her eyes flicking up to the sky for a moment before going back to him. "I do so love jokes, and I am not at all easily offended." In fact, she found most things to be quite amusing, whether they were meant to be, or not! "Oh, oh right! My name is Lydia. Lydia Stiles." She grinned, and shot out a hand to shake. "And oh, well as I said I am no expert." Her pale cheeks blushed a little, as always caught off guard by those who chose to compliment her, even offhandedly. "But of course! I will do my best to teach!" Even if their weapons were...well...completely different from one another's. "Whenever you're ready!" She grinned.

He was genuinely please at the fact she would be someone he could joke with, or at least, not have to censor himself around. It was far too difficult to play polite when really he wasn't all that great at being... decent with his words.
"Italia indeed! It is warmer, much less wet in the air too. I do not know how they handle it. Even the sea smells poorly." He bemoaned. "But is better than other places it could be." Pulling his spear free, he could hear his weapon laughing, the cracking glass sound slowly becoming white noise in his mind. "I hope to not harm you. It would ill suit your pretty face, and a poor man I would make."

She grinned, clearly pleased that she had guessed correctly, before getting herself ready by turning and putting just a tad more distance between the two of them, though she did stumble a step when he referred to her as being "pretty". "OH, oh no don't worry about anything like that! I mean, there are shields and a buffer here for when those fail..I mean, I suppose I might end up with a few bruises, but those go away before long! Besides, I'm tougher than I look!" And she was, or so she sort of thought she was. She had turned around and was ready, holding her whip in a two handed grip. "Okay well, here we go!" Stepping forward, she let go with one hand to swing it back with the other, before letting the tails fly forward. HP: 40 Damage: 6

Elio wasn't sure how the shields worked- it was a bit too magical for him but hey, the cazzo was telling him he'd be fine and to not worry so.. he wouldn't. Backing away he knew that distance was his greatest ally and his worst enemy, his weapon still new in his hands and lacking experience with it. But that was just what this whole thing was for- practice to make perfect. "No harm for long, just little pains correct?" He affirmed. He might want to win but not at someone's health expense. While he doubted she was that tough, Elio didn't think to her weapon, figuring it would just be like limp noodles. Not so. The cut and stung, a surprised jump added to his hand flying to sooth the skin. He'd been wrong, the weapon had a bit of a bite to it, as no doubt it's wielder did as well. He could only reply in kind, letting the spearhead fall free from the pole and be swung out. "Your weapon, is also demon?" HP: 34 DMG: 2

Yes! But off of the training field, if your shield breaks, little pains become big pains and broken bones and possible amputations and death!" She smiled, saying this all quite cheerfully as if it were no big deal at all. "So try not to let that happen." She was struck, but it wasn't a very heavy blow, so while she normally might have let out a small yelp, this time she simply clenched her teeth and ducked back before lunging forward again, whip tails finding their mark once more. "A demon?" She stepped back. "Oh, no! Rorric is...was? A firebird." She confirmed, free hand reaching up for a finger to twirl around one of the tails. "So your weapon is a demon, than?"
