Federico happily stared upwards at the sky above. He couldn't see the stars nearly so well as a normal soquili. His eyes were better suited for vision under the water than above it. He wondered what the stars looked like to a land-dwelling soquili. Someone had once told him that they sparkled like diamonds in the sky... but he'd never seen a diamond before and didn't know what that would look like either. He could make out the brightest ones and a smattering of smaller, but expected that the vast majority of them were lost to his eyes.
He sighed a little, but was not overly troubled. There were things he was able to experience that land-dwelling soquili never would witness either. Things like the migration of the sea turtles, or schools of majestic eagle rays. Or the lonely albatross flying so high and distant above the waves. Federico was a fairly content soquili, even if there were some things unavailable to him. He floated in quiet contemplation in the waters of the shallow cove, enjoying the coolness of the night air and the expanse of the sky above him.
