The heavy rain touched Brilla’s paws as she stood on the watery ground. She could hear the sound of thunder in the distance warning her. It was warning her that the lightning was near. It was closing in hoping to catch something as it strikes. She knew very well of the danger she was in but she liked it. It was one of the only times she truly felt alone.

It was the danger that gave her a sense of adventure she enjoyed the suspense of the unknown. If it hit her would she be able to join all the lost souls of the world. What would happen to her? No one knew. All others hid from the storm well she embraced it. No one would save her. It was up to her to save herself.

She whispered quietly so only she could her. ”I still haven’t found it.” She was in search of something; something that she had never found, fear. She wanted to be able to feel it. She didn’t want to be fearless. It made her feel as if she was already dead. Many animals wished to never be afraid well she wished for the opposite.

Was she insane? No, she was just lost, confused, hurt because she didn’t understand why so many creatures had to be lost well she was still standing. She should have been happy that she was still breathing but she couldn’t. She tried to smile to fake the happiness in hopes that it would become real but it never did.

That was why she put herself in danger. She wanted to find a reason to smile. She laughed at herself. She thought that she was crazy. How would putting herself in dangerous situations allow herself to smile? She did it because she didn’t know what else to do. She saw a bright light shine in the distance. Was someone there? Or was it just the storm?
