So any Peirs Anthony fans? How many of you have read any Xanth novels? I love all the puns, they make me smile^_^

I must say, Piers Anthony is certainly a gifted author, but for some reason his entire Xanth series seems to me to be rather low quality. I certainly enjoy puns and a creative no world, but the story takes so long to tell the smallest part. I found them to be to be rather tedious.

I enjoy his first eight books. They're some of my favorite. but after that, the stories tend to be repetitive and the puns are thrown in your face to show how clever he is.
However i also enjoy his Incarnations of Immortality books. have you ever read them?

I have not, though I have heard they are good. I have read a book of his called Firefly. It's horror. From that book it's clear he's a skilled writer, one of the reasons I picked up his Xanth series.

I loved the Incarnations of Immortality.
I read A Spell For Chameleon, which was all right, but I didn't like the main character very much so I couldn't get into it. And then The Source of Magic is about Bink and two other characters I dislike even more, so I never got through it.
I did read Harpy Thyme a long time ago when I first heard of him and I hadn't realized how far in the series it was. I really enjoyed that one!

Puns are the lowest form of humor 3nodding as Anthony himself readily admits... of coarse making buns the lowest form of bread but we wont go there... rofl I have read almost all the Xanth novels and must admit to enjoying them. All the Incarnations of Immortality... A very good series as long as you don't try to make a family tree sweatdrop it is more like a circle... and a few of his other books have enjoyed almost every one of them.

I've only read "On a Pale Horse" myself, but I liked it. I've tried to get the rest...but the fault of the bookstore seems to be they order more of what they already have, and none of what they don't...

I really like Piers Anthony, but he ticks me off sometimes with his Xanth series. The first three are poorly written, then they're pretty good till book twelve, and then they get all adult humor-ey, and he gets upset when children read them. (At least, that's the impression I get when I read his acknowledgements at the end). If you don't want children to read your book series, don't make the first 15 kid friendly!
Other than that stuff I do like him alot.

I love the Xanth books to death. ^^ I've read them out of order, but for me it doesn't matter. I still buy every single one of his books that I can get my hands on, they make for great reading when I'm depressed.

But I do know were you are comming from.

In Xanth I read up to the one before Xone of Contention. They were getting rather tedious, I agree. But I really like his first few.
I also liked Race Against Time. It was very thought inducing...err..deep.

I've read most of the Xanth books and while I find some of the puns annoying and groan worthy, it's definately a good read if I'm looking for something fun.
