With the festivals now come and gone Awendela found herself watching the passage of time. Her hare, Rhea, seemed more at ease with her connections to others than she had been when the young lioness started to branch out. It made for an easier transition, but also marked a new stage in her life, one that her long eared caretaker couldn't stop.

Awendela Kalisetsi was in love.

The insecurities she held kept her blossoming emotions locked within her chest under strict key. At first she had been more afraid of them than the actual lion himself, but now she worried that it might be the one thing to chase him away from her. Right now they had leveled to being content in the presence of each other, though her heart felt as if it would burst each time he smiled at her. They weren't as frequent as others she had known, and seemed to break through a piece of him that let in light that hadn't been there before. It made every smile that Azria showed her worth more than anything the Gods could ever give her.

And when she thought she was alone, Awen began to sing. Through her doubts and her worries she had retained a pure voice, one that she rarely shared, but when she was happy, oh she couldn't hold it in.

In the blink of an eye I can see through your eyes
As I'm lying awake I'm still hearing the cries
And it hurts, hurts me so bad

And I'm wondering why I still fight in this life
'Cause I've lost all my faith in this damn bitter strife
And it's sad, it's so damn sad

Oh, I wish it was over and I wish you were here
Still I'm hoping that somehow

Sometimes, when Azria stopped to think long and hard about it, he had to admit that being here had been good for him. Hadn't it done for him exactly what he had spent so many years trying to do? Kept him out of trouble, kept him fed, and the nomadic lifestyle he had known all his life had followed him to the Ela'wadiyi. It was all very idyllic, really, and some days Azria could hardly believe his luck.

He could hardly believe it in part because of the very lioness who had found him in the first place. Or, perhaps, he had found her. She had slowly turned him into a better version of himself - more patient, less prone to violence, less likely to let his temper get a hold of him. The transformation had been gradual, but Azria had noticed it nonetheless, and where a younger Azria would have worried about what it meant for his ability to survive alone, this Azria didn't. That must be maturity setting in.

And in turn, he liked to think, being around him had allowed Awen to grow too. Dealing with his temper, after all, was anything but a child's task, and she had gone from that timid little thing, afraid he would eat her, to something much more confident. They were good for each other, he liked to think.

"You don't have to wait until you're alone to do that, you know," he said when Awen's song was over. He had heard it, of course, and knew what it meant when she sang. But she should be happy all the time, no?

Awendela's song carried with it a strength brought out by her growing confidence. It was hard not to be lost in the rhythm once it began, and listening to her words going out over the mountain was an enjoyable experience for the youthful female.

Although she was no yet aware of it, all of her recent songs had to deal with Azria in some way, shape, or form. He was her muse, just as the wind circled the mountains, he enveloped her. There were still days she thought herself too weak to stand by his side, but it only served to push her further. He made her want to be a better Awen, if only just to be able to stand as his equal.

Awendela's deep breathing was cut short. What was normally her calming routine after singing was no a breathless turn with darkened cheeks to see the male of the hour closer than she could have hoped. "My sisters thought it a nuisance, and told me I should only sing when I was away from them. It's an old habit, I guess." She chuckled awkwardly, and moved a little closer to him.

Where there was once so much joy was now a feeling of dry mouth and a nervous gut. There was something she had wanted to talk to him about for a while, but how was she to say it? "A-Azria? We need to...we should talk...about serious things."
