She huffed out a breath, taking a moment to relax and enjoy the feel of a light breeze tickling at her face. It toyed with her mane, pulling pieces this way or that across her face. Which she righted by giving her head a simple shake or snorting at the strands. The day was nice, though, even with her long mane being its typical nuisance. Not too warm and just cool enough to be comfortable. Which was why she'd grown to love the mountains and the woods surrounding them. Though that wasn't the only reason she had fallen for the land. The birds were not as scared here. And their songs were so pretty. She'd found herself being able to enjoy the day a little more. It was taking some time to adjust her sleeping schedule however. But well worth it, in the mare's opinion.
Sidi glanced to either side, spotting the stallion that was with her. A radiant smile appeared and her wings tucked tightly in against her back, some of the feathers brushing against her stomach. Her very large stomach.
Her blue eyes shifted down. She was going to be a mother! Never had she expected to feel such joy over something. Though she was equally anxious, wondering if she would make a good mother or not? Sidi had her doubts, but the thought of being able to start her own family?! There was no dampening that excitement. Especially with her mate around.
"Saaaaan!" She called over, laughing a little. "Do you think maybe the birds know a thing or two about baskets?" Sidi looked up, hoping their little feathered friends could help. "I mean... they do make their own nests and all... " It was logical thinking, right?

For his part, Sanguine was absolutely beside himself with happiness. He had never had a friend like Dark Side. And... the crazy thing was, he thought maybe they might be more than friends. Certainly, he was absolutely smitten with her. ... He was actually pretty sure that they were more than friends, because they were going to have children soon. He was going to be a father! Him! Sanguine! He'd asked his mother about his impending fatherhood, and she'd explained everyone-- swearing all the while, of course, because how had he not known about this? It was the best thing that had happened to him.
Actually, Sidi was the best thing that had ever happened to him. The best person. "I'll bet that they do," he mused, smiling softly. She made him happy. She was an alicorn, just like his mother, and she hadn't rejected him. They had... cuddled... and so much good had come of it. To think that one rainstorm and one nuzzle could lead to so much? "They know so much about nest making. Surely they know how to come by baskets? I can ask them, if you like," he offered, whistling softly, entreating his little friends to come visit. Sidi was so smart. She always knew what she was about. It... made him happy, just knowing that she didn't mind that they'd be raising foals together.

"They sure do." She agreed with a nod, moving closer to the larger stallion. He was so sweet and wonderful and also silly. She found herself laughing so much more with him around! Sidi wasn't sure if he fully understood their relationship status, but that just made him so much more adorable. She was starting to forget what it was like to feel so serious and be less trusting around him! Sanguine brought back her true personality. The playful and sassy one. "And their nests are always so beautiful too!" Her nose brushed against his neck affectionately.
When she'd found out... that the cuddles and nuzzling had resulted in something more, Sidi had been a little terrified. She knew nothing about raising foals! And her foalhood was not the best example to go off of. And dear San had just been so shocked at the concept of it happening! At least he'd had his mother to ask for some advice. Though Sidi couldn't help but wonder if she was alright with the fact San was having foals with her? She'd yet to meet his family. And speaking of family... oh she was going to have to send word to River! Her friend would be so excited!
"Maybe you can ask them a direction to look, at the very least?" She mused, looking around them. Maybe baskets grew on trees somewhere. That would be so convenient!

Sanguine gave Dark Side the happiest, most smitten of smiles. He truly didn't know how he had gotten along in life without her. She was his best friend. His very, very best friend. Previously that position had been reserved for his bird friends, but Sidi was something special. His mother had been curious, of course... probably because she'd found it hard to believe that he had anybody. But he'd assured her that Sidi was real, and that they were going to have foals. He'd told her that the mare was just like them. Which, of course, Dark Side was! A beautiful mare who always made him smile. Especially when she laughed. He liked her laughter best.
"Sure! I can do that. They won't mind. At least, not the ones who've made nests of their own. If they haven't made nests yet, they might get a bit competitive over nesting material." Still, he could find something out. He could definitely figure out what they needed. A little bird fluttered down from a nearby tree, settling just before him. "Can you tell us where to find a basket?" he asked hopefully, reaching down to nuzzle Sidi absently. It was a wonderful thing to be a father! And a wonderful thing to be a friend.

Dark Side snorted in amusement. He knew so much about the little birds! And the little feathered dears seemed to love him in return. It always made her smile to see Sanguine with them. "I surely don't want to start any arguments or anything like that for them!" She said with a tiny frown, eying the birds flittering about the trees. Trying to break them up would be a bother. And difficult when they were about the size of their hooves!
The arrival of one little bird drew her gaze, eyes lighting up. Well, at least they were willing to be sociable today! Though she did miss their little pranks and tricks and chasing them about. It was a little more difficult to do such activities while heavy with foals. But some of the birds seemed to take pity on her, perching along her back when she lay in the grass, and sing their songs for her. "For foals." Sidi added, for a little more clarification, leaning a little against Sanguine's side. "Though I still don't understand how foals grow in baskets." She muttered under her breath. She'd been told about it. Knew she herself had come from one. But never having witnessed such an event before... she was a little skeptical. Maybe she could ask River if it was true, since the unicorn was a healer.

The bird hopped to the ground, showing Sanguine where it had gathered material for nests. Sadly, that was not altogether helpful. "Thank you. If we need to make a nest, we will be sure to look there," Sanguine said kindly. "Sidi, do you remember anything more about baskets? I don't think the birds can help us." That was disappointing, but not altogether surprising. Sometimes birds had different priorities than Soquili. It couldn't be helped. "We'd have to build our foals huge nests," he said doubtfully. "I don't think that would work out well." Nor would it shelter their babies if sheltering was what needed to be done.
Sanguine tried to remember what he had heard about baskets in the past. Alicorns didn't seem to like them, that much was for sure. His mother had seemed dismayed when he'd expressed interest. "We might be on our own on this. Unless you know of someone else to ask?" As helpful as his little friends could be, they were ultimately not the right experts to ask, it seemed. Certainly they did not know where to find or make baskets. "Do you know anyone who knows anything about them?" Sidi was so knowledgeable about so many things! Surely this might be one of them?

Sidi stuck her head out a little, getting a better look at the little bird to see what it was doing. And then tried not to laugh too much or very loud as it showed where it gathered materials for a nest. Though she still had to hide her nose under her wing finally while she giggled. Oh the little dear! It certainly had tried to help. "Y-Yes! Thank you, dear friend!" She managed, shaking her head and inching over to sniff at the materials. Sadly, they would not make a basket. Dark Side gave a little sigh, rustling some of the materials, before glancing back over at Sanguine.
Did she know anything? "Umm... only that we need them." She said a little apologetically. Her family hadn't been around when she grew up. The thought of them tended to make her a little sad, but today was not for such thoughts. "I wish they could point us in the right direction at least." Sidi sighed. And then couldn't help but chuckle at the mental image that flashed across her mind at the thought of building a huge nest that was Soquili sized.
Sidi frowned a little in concentration. "I know someone we could ask... " She admitted. "But I'm not sure I could get in touch with her in time. I'm not even sure where she and her herd are right now." Which was no help to them at all. "What exactly was it that your mother said, again?" She asked, wondering if maybe they had missed something.
