The house, for once, was actually clean. Both Nathan and Marina had remarked on it, the louts. If Justin were to be honest; he had been a bit nervous at first. It had been a gamble, Justin supposed, inviting people he only vaguely knew. But Aaron, Cruz, and Anita had all responded said they'd come. Aaron, in fact, was already here. He had come burderned with chips and salsa from his wife, juggling it precariously when he first entered. Now they rested on a small table next to some homemade cookies (courtesy of Marina) and a lot of weird sodas from Nathan. The larger table, reserved for dnd, was smack dab in the center of his living room, bordered on all sides by a smattering of mismatched chars and one old green sofa.

"Anyway, make yourself at home. We're just waiting on Anita and Cruz now. What kind of character are you playing?" Justin smiled and pointed Aaron to any chair he might like. Marina bustled in and

"Anita and Cruz? Sounds familiar... Anita.. think Claire was talking about her, they exchanged numbers I think? You guys are gonna have to be patient with me, I've only ever played this game like.. once, back in high school." Aaron laughed and shrugged, moving closer to the group. "I like rangers.. blame the Lord of the Rings fan in me. I've got a dwarf ranger in the works for the campaign but I'll probably wait until everyone else sets out their character sheets just to make sure I'm doing this right."

"Dun worry," Nathan drawled out. "I'm the DM, but I'll take good care of you." Leaning back, he winked and popped open a can of something that looked like Mountain Dew but wasn't quite. Justin sighed at Nathan and produced a rather crumpled up sheet from his back pocket, smoothing it out on the table. Grabbing a d8, he spun it on the tabletop as Marina finally came to sit. Justin was feeling a little less anxious by now, although he still surreptiously slid a stray sock underneath the sofa. He would never find it again, but at least his guests wouldn't see.

"Nothing wrong with a love of Lord of the Rings. I need to re-marathon them someday soon." Nathan immediately made a bzzt noise of disgust. Shotting him a look, Justin continued, "How long are you up for playing? We usually go until we're too tired to see the dice anymore, but-" He shrugged. Everyone liked different games. "I might hafta leave early, Justin. Got the babysitter over and she's only a kid herself. Sorry." Justin made a noise of assent and began to unfold the map they'd be using. Simply, unmarked, it only contained a grid of squares.

"Hey, Aaron, you might as well pick out a mini to use! Whichever one looks the most like your character ro something." From somewhere, Nathan produced a cloth bag of tiny figurines. Wizards, bards, orcs, a warhammer 40k tank... Nathan had it all.

(( Just want to make a quick note that we started this script style and then moved it to formal and Sem was given permission to condense Aaron's actions and dialog into the intro. Just so nothing looks sketchy. ))

Response to the invite had definitely been positive. Anita recalled distantly that Justin made a similar offer some time ago, back around Christmas, but nothing had come of it until now. Cruz was absolutely elated; even though he didn't know a thing about the game itself, meeting new people and playing together sounded fantastic.

As usual, navigating to a new place made their time management a little weak. While Justin's place wasn't especially far, neither of them had visited before and they ended up getting turned around a little before feeling confident about where they were. Snacks were also acquired on the way over, which cut into their arrival time. Though they didn't drink themselves, Anita was used to bringing at least a little beer to such functions and bought a six pack of Yeungling for whoever wanted it, as well as a small assortment of chips and a hefty bag of peanut M&Ms.

Cruz carried the bags of food while Anita handled the alcohol. She knocked on the door. The frei beside her fidgeted in his excitement, grinning ear to ear; he had no idea what to expect but going somewhere new just to play a game was a concept he was growing especially eager for. It must have been a cool game to gather everyone in a new place with new people.

"Howdy," Anita grinned and held up the booze when the door opened. Cruz held the bags up in tandem.

"We're here for Dungy Dragums," he announced resolutely.

"Dungeons--" Anita corrected with a lopsided smile barely containing her laughter, "Dungeons and Dragons."

"Geez, you've got everything here, don't you?" Aaron laughed as he pondered Nathan's minifigs. There was certainly quite a lot to sift through, all matter of man, beast, and monster, but he zeroed in on the dwarvish-looking figures rather quickly. He had written his dwarven ranger with a bow and arrow, but it seemed most of them bore heavier weaponry - axes, maces, hammers, and the like. Finally, he found one that bore a crossbow (which was close enough). "This'll work." He placed it before him and was fumbling in his pockets for his character sheet when someone knocked on the door. Aaron leaned back in his chair and grinned at the newcomers.

"Hey there, you're Anita and Cruz, right? I'm Aaron, Claire's husband. She traded numbers with you guys at the Boil?"
