Back log! Taharka felt like he was old enough to explore the caves without a guard following him. It wasn't like the tunnels were that dangerous. His fathers' explored them all the time and checked on their stability. While they were taking care of the pride, nothing bad could happen to him. But before he could go out exploring, he needed to have someone to travel with him. If he got caught away from the mother's he was sure he would get an ear full. If there were two of them, then there would be less blame put on him! Quietly, he began to follow his brother Kianoush, keeping low to the ground as if he were hunting. After a couple steps, he jumped forward, tackling his brother. He had a huge grin on his face as he started to wrestle with his brother.

Kianoush was restless in that manner common to cubs when they had too much energy for their size. As such he had been pacing back and forth, trying to avoid standing on his own fuzzy shadow. Non-pulsed that he couldn't seem to avoid it he was completely distracted when his sibling suddenly pounced, causing the bat-winged youth to let out a gurgled shriek of shock. Twisting as they rolled and bounced across the cave floor he grabbed his brother round the shoulders with oversized paws and hollered in pretend outrage, unable to keep the delighted laugh out of his voice. "I'm gonna get you for that!". Twisting as they thudded into the cave wall he scrambled atop Taharka, grabbing the paler youth's ear in his mouth. "Mimmed ma!!" His muffled ' Pinned ya' barely understandable around Tah's fur.

Taharka let out a loud laugh as he pushed his brother off him. “You win! You win!” He said, as he got up. “And because you beat me, I'm going to let you go on an adventure with me!” He had a large grin on his face. Soon he would be out of the den, searching the caves. Maybe they would discover a new tunnel or something! “I'm going to sneak out of here and explore the tunnels. It's going to be a bunch of fun and a lot more interesting then being stuck here. You know?” He wiggled with excitement, hoping his brother would go along with him. “And it will be safe! Our fathers checked the tunnels so it has to be safe.”

Kian laughed breathlessly as he let go and landed with a thump beside his sibling. "Don't I always?" He grinned cheekily, red eyes bright with mischief as he pulled himself to his paws and shook the cave dust from his coat. Turning his head as he pawed at the fluff of his babymane, he arched a brow at Taharka, curious. "Like I'd let you leave me behind!" He exclaimed with an even wider grin, playfully cuffing his brother's shoulder with a paw before glancing surreptitiously over his shoulder, checking they hadn't been overheard. "Come on then, while no ones looking!" He whispered in a rush, dropping to his belly and slinking towards the opening of the cave. As soon as they both reached the mouth Kian sprang to his paws and darted up the tunnel, knowing his brother would be right on his tail.

Taharka was close to his brother as they made their escape. No one seemed to notice their departure. He glanced behind him to double check that none of the other cubs saw them. It wouldn't do to have a cub tailing them. With just two of them, they were doubling the risk of being caught. Any more, it would definitely get them noticed. “Where do you want to go first? We could go down to the water, or explore some new tunnels.” He started to say thinking of all the possibilities. “We could practically go anywhere. Except for the surface. I don't want to go there.” He had never been comfortable with the surface. Though he also had never been there. He had had nightmares about those who dwell on the surface and he didn't particularly like them. Maybe when he was older he would change his tune, but for now the tunnels were enough of an adventure for him.

Looking back at his brother, Kian grinned. "Lets see something new! After all, we have been to the water before." Making sure he seemed fearless at the prospect of going somewhere new, he stared expectantly at his sibling. No way was he going to suggest a safer option, this was why they had snuck out! To do something new and scary! He shivered just thinking about the envy of the other cubs when they came back, triumphant! Tilting his head in thought he glanced up at the ceiling, and specifically, the glowing bugs attached there. "Do you think we need some light?" After all, if the tunnels were unknown, how did they know there would be lights there already? Surely for this to be a grand adventure, it had to be dark and spooky?

Tarhaka nodded to his brother. He had made the right decision to come with his brother after all. If he had gone by himself, he wasn't sure he would be brave enough to explore the caves alone. “Maybe we'll find something great to show our dads!” He thought about how proud they would be of the young lion, though they probably would be upset with them too. But mostly proud! He looked up at the fireflies. If he jumped, he could probably reach them. He leaned his body next to the tunnel wall, under the bugs. “Good idea. Think you can reach them if you hop on my back?” He thought that this way they could carefully get the bugs and hopefully not lose any of them.

Kian blinked as his brother pressed against the wall, not sure what he was up to, then understanding bloomed and he grinned broadly. “Good idea! Wait a sec!” Turning he dashed up the passageway, coming back quickly with one of the catch nets the pride used. He had noticed it laying in a small alcove, evidently dropped and then kicked there accidentally by an adult. He had made a note of it but never bothered to pull it out. But now he was pleased he remembered it. With the net in his mouth he trotted over to his brother and started the process of clambering, rather ungracefully, onto his sibling’s back. Stretching as far as he could reach he shook his head back and forth, trying to get the net over the lowest lights. Just as both cubs started to tremble and shake from the strain he tossed the net and, miraculously, it hit the roof and dislodged a good cluster of the bugs. Bugs and net fell to the floor and Kian jumped down, scooping the bundle up before they could get away. “Mere!” There! He explained, pleased, around the netting in his mouth, the bag of bugs dangling against his fluffy chest. Beaming he nodded at Taharka, indicating they should start exploring.

Tarhaka stayed steady as his brother climbed on top of him. He knew if he did a sudden movement it would end badly for both of them. His small arms began to shake. It was a great relief when his brother got off. He let himself fall to the ground, rather dramatically. Though he was quick to get himself back up to see the bugs his brother caught. “Looks good! We have everything we need for this great adventure of ours!” Tarhaka declared, nodding to his brother. He started down the darkening tunnel, trying to remember which way it was to the newly unexplored tunnels. He was careful with each step, not wanting to draw the attention of the other pride members. He stopped at a fork and peaked around the corner to see if anyone was around. “It's clear!” He loudly whispered to his brother as he started down the tunnel on his left.

Kian trotted up to walk beside his brother, so the light from their bug collection would show the way for both of them. He couldn't reply, what with holding the bag in his mouth and all,but he nodded enthusiastically at Tarhaka as his sibling picked the left tunnel. This was going to be the grandest adventure of all time!! Kian could already feel the excitement building in his chest. What amazing things would they see? Despite the bag of fireflies swinging heavily against his chest and interfering with his front legs, Kian kept up with his brother as the two cubs snuck off down the tunnel, the light making a soft moving glow and ruining any attempt at stealth as they went. Not that either boy seemed to notice.
