Little Miss Shiny
The day after the superheroes cosplay ended found Shiny sitting on the stone steps next to the fountain by the rose garden, a puzzled and deeply thoughtful expression on her bright features as she stared unseeing at the ripples in the water. The bell for first period would ring any minute now, and still she had come no closer to understanding the puzzle currently before her.
Shiny let out a deep sigh to try and release some of her confusion, and reached into her bag for her phone to pull up Kyouya's number and text him four familiar little words.
~meet me for lunch?~
Kyouya, for his own part, had just settled into his desk and withdrawn the ubiquitous black notebook and his mathematics textbook from his school bag, when his cell phone sounded that delicate, sparkling crescendo.
He silenced it -- class would be starting any minute, after all -- but took a quick glance at the message.
** It would be my pleasure. **
Idly he wondered what it might be regarding, as it was rare that the two of them simply ate lunch. It was always something a little more complex than that. He mulled it over for the next few minutes, before his mathematics professor swept in the door and started the lecture with an emphatic squeaking of pen on whiteboard that left little room for imagining.
****
Kyouya arrived at the rose maze just a touch later than when he'd have preferred, as he'd gotten stuck behind the swarm of people following the latest round of celebrities on campus, and had diverted to a less-traveled route. Still, take-out from the refectory in hand, he followed the usual route to the gazebo. It was a pleasant afternoon for August, all things considered, and he slid into his usual seat at the stone table with quiet pleasure.
