Willow was walking home from taking time to go visit the local zoo. While it wasn't huge it was always nice to see what the animals were up to and sit to watch her favorite animals for a few hours - the tigers.

She was looking at a book as she walked down the sidewalk back towards home. Pausing to look up and suddenly decided she should take a short cut through the alley towards an older construction site. She'd taken the route many times before and expected no troubles, like the other times she'd taken the route.

"Hm. . . I should probably find something to eat when I get home." She mused realizing she hadn't eaten in a while.

Destiny City was not the safest place for lone girls in alleys, though the danger came less from people the way it did in other cities and more from the monsters that called this one home.

As the girl passed, a low growl rolled out of the space between a dumpster and the wall, a dark form slinking from the shadows and into her path. Long fangs flashed at her, the youma stalking closer with malicious intent.

........

Further down the block, a cat trotted down the sidewalk as though she owned it, her tail lifted behind her like a flag. Her stomach was full of stolen food and she was entirely pleased with herself for the success of her little adventure. The outdoor cafe had been full of people and it had taken finesse to convince some of the patrons to part with tid bits of their meals.

Young women seemed the easiest to convince to share and one young girl had found her simply irresistible. A happy time was spent on her lap, being fed delicious bits as she was stroked and cooed over. All in all, very satisfying.

What was not satisfying, however, was the stinking feel of something rotten on her inner radar. It was the gross feel of a youma, and it left Ash with a bit of a dilemma... she was not equipped to deal with the beast on her own, but she knew lots of people who were. Perhaps it would behoove her to just... check things out so she could call in back up.

Lowering her ears, the cat oriented on the signature she felt and moved cautiously towards it, eyes wide for any sudden movements.

The teen stopped when she heard the low growling noise. Looking towards the source and squinting of course she'd stumbled on a dog or something hopefully not rabid. It would've done well to not be rabid at all. . . .

Then when it slinked from the shadows and bared long white fangs she yelped "HOLYSHIT DOG ON STEROIDS." And started backing up fairly quickly trying to navigate her way out of the ally so she could actually run somewhere. . . . At this point Willow didn't care which way she ran as long as she could get away from the 'dog on steroids'. Even if it was or wasn't a dog. . . .

Well, crap...

The scene that greeted Ash was exactly the one she didn't want to find. A young girl, being assaulted by a nasty youma... a dog youma no less! Inwardly the cat groaned, wondering for the millionth time why it was always a dog. She was starting to hate the real thing just for how often it seemed to inspire its monster counterpart.

But that aside, she now had a human in danger and there was no senshi in reachable distance. She could call someone, but there was real and immediate danger that couldn't wait for reinforcements. Thinking quickly, the burmilla finally threw caution to the wind and jumped out from behind the building she'd been using for cover, raising her voice.

"Hey, girl! Over here! Quickly now, run!" She called, hoping she'd be smart enough to follow sensible orders when she heard them.

It didn't take Telling her twice for the teen to haul a**. "I have a name" She called to the . . . talking . . . cat. Willow blinked but didn't have a chance to second think what she just heard.

Her pigtails flew behind her as she ran the monster trying to chomp on them. "HEY THOSE ARE MINE!" She shouted at the mutant dog thing. Trying to throw the zoo-map at the creature to make it stop. She would've tried to use her shoe but she was busy running.

"Names are for 'not getting eaten alive' time, darling!" Ash called as she ran, her tail a puff behind her. Honestly, what was more important right now? Saving your hair, or not dying? Though, granted, it would have been a hard choice for Ash herself...

Luckily, it wasn't her choice! The burmilla led the way down the street and turned a sharp corner, making another the other direction as soon as she could. Hopefully the girl would have enough balance to follow, where the big, hulking dog might find the tight turns a little problematic... and maybe give them some breathing room.

The new alley offered escape up a metal ladder to a fire escape and Ash spun to her charge, her back arching.

"Up you go, girl! I'm going to need a ride if you don't mind, but hurry now! Lets hope that beasty can't climb a ladder!"

Willow was surprisingly nimble and able to keep up with the cat - as if this hadn't been the first time she ran for her life. Though usually it was probably because she'd watched some sort of weird horror movie the night before and swore there was a chainsaw killer after her.

Willow paused a the ladder, "O-okay if you say so." She glanced behind her before grabbing the cat under her belly picking her up and offering her shoulders. "Can't climb one handed, I'm not a monkey." She added as soon as she was sure the cat was settled enough the girl headed up the ladder, it took a second to get started but she made it just out of reach as the beasty slammed into the wall snarling at her. "Yikes that shook the whole ladder." The teen clung to the ladder for a second before moving again working their way to the first landing. . . . she looked back at the dog-youma to see what it was doing.

Ash made a smooth jump to the shoulders and crouched low, balancing as the girl started to scrabble up the ladder. None too soon and she hissed down at the monster as it recoiled, getting its bearings again and snarling up at them.

"Quick, quick... that beast can still jump, Darling!" She said in a tight voice. "And we don't want it shaking you off the ladder."

The silver cat swung at the youma, though her little claws fell far short, and bared her fangs at him. Once the girl was close enough, Ash jumped from her shoulder to the landing and spun back around to watch her climb up, keeping an eye on the monster below as it took a jump at them and fell back. She could hear its claws scraping on the brick. Contact with the girl had given her an idea and the cat turned away from the view below.

"I've got a way out of this for us, if you'll trust me." She said. Taking a step, Ash jumped and spun, something clattering to the grating as she landed. It was a pen and she batted at it. "Here! Take this and lift it up, and say 'Halley Power, Make-up!"

Willow stood on the landing and looked at the cat as she spoke, "You realize I'm talking to a cat right?" She added, "Pretty sure we've already established I trust you, unless I'm dreaming. . . ."

She sighed they seemed pretty trapped unfortunately. She paused when she saw the cat do a jump and spin thing? She looked at the pen. "Uh, sure?" She picked up the pen, and looked at it before lifting it up, "Halley Power, Make-up!"

There was a bright flash and suddenly she stood there in a skirt and rather tall boots. "Uhhhh...... okay? - Now what?" The Dog was trying to climb the ladder though it seemed to no avail.

The grey cat smiled as only a feline can and jumped up to the railing, her tail held high behind her.

"Now you have the power to fight that monster!" Ash said proudly, tucking her back end under her to sit. "You, my dear, are a Sailor Senshi. That means you have special powers now, among them extra strength, speed and defense. When you're powered up like this, you're name is Sailor Halley. You've got some magic too... we should try it out, hmm? If you concentrate, you should be able to think of the words to say that'll cast it."

Lifting a paw, Ash waved it down at the monster.

"That down there is called a Youma, and they're servants to an organization called the Negaverse. They're quite a nuisance... but that is why Senshi like you are here! You can turn that thing to dust and keep the people in the city safe."

Halley looked at Ash as she spoke and the girl looked a little worried. She was suppose to fight that, with magic? "Like honest to goddess magic?" She asked looking at the Burmilla, though she shouldn't've been surprised she was talking to a cat.

There were words she was suppose to say? The girl paused, thinking, "Step on a Crack?" She seemed to question this a little as she said it watching to see what would happen. Obviously that sounded like a horrible name for a magic spell. The games were always much more cool and witty, and well hell even other types of magiks were more interesting.

Though as she pondered over this there was a very clear visage of a fine network of energy wires. "Okay . . . so what's the magic do?" She watched as the youma looked confused a little bit at the lines that had shown up before starting to try to snap and stomp on them as if it was annoying only to be smacked from behind and she heard a yelp. "Welll... that was productive. . . This stops them? It looks like it's pissing it off more."

Halley was so not convinced it was that easy.

The cat laughed as she nodded, her tail flicking lazily.

"Yes, honest to goodness magic." It was probably strange, coming from a lady as tech-forward as she was... but magic was real and it was a big part of being a senshi.

Ash watched with interest as Halley used her magic. It seemed to be something of a trap, attacking whatever was in it when it tried to free itself... not a bad kind of magic to have.

"A senshi's magic is unique to them and their sphere. Yours is superstition, so that's where the form of it comes from. Magic isn't the be all end all, though. A lot of fighting will probably be with your fists... the magic is more to give you an edge." The guardian tilted her head at her new charge, sizing her up. "You think you want to try hitting that thing until it explodes? You're stronger now... if you're careful, you should be able to handle it."

Halley watched the beastie as Ash explained. "And here I thought everything had some science geek behind it explaining it away." At least with school that's what it appeared to be.

The girl watched as the magic slowly started to face and Ash explained that she was also stronger. "Well. . . can I jump from here and land on him without getting hurt?" She asked curiously wondering if she could do that sort of thing. They were only about a story up but that was still fairly dangerous for a normal person.

"Well, I mean... as long as you don't botch the landing? Probably. Or get in the way of its teeth and or claws.... You're more durable now too, but you're not super man." Ash said as she leaned over the edge to eye the youma below them, her tail flicking as she made faces at it.

"Think of it kind of like... normal person times two. You're maybe twice as strong, fast and durable as before. If you didn't know how to fight things before, you're not going to be any better at it now, but you pack a harder punch at least."

The gray cat moved to pace around the opening to the ladder they had climbed, lifting her head to give her newest senshi a look over.

"Just be careful, ok? If its too much for you, we can run away, or I can call for help. I'd really prefer it if you didn't get hurt too badly."

Halley nodded as she sighed and then took a breath, "I can do this." She could scrap a little even though she was considered a delicate little crystal girl.

The girl hoped onto the railing of the fire escape looking down and trying to judge where she wanted to land. "Wish me luck!"

She was aiming for the back as she jumped down, hoping that the monster was still distracted by the lines that seemed to be disappearing as fast as the beast stomped on them causing them to snap back.
