Megrez sighed and scratched around a piece of gauze that had been taped to one of her wounds. No, actually, she had been made to power down, so it was Luca that scratched around a wound. These stretches of time where she was herself made her feel a bit antsy and awkward, like she had something important to do and had forgotten it. Or like she had left the oven on somewhere. Even when she went to sleep as a civilian, she couldn't shake the feeling that there was something she needed to do. She was just about always running around powered these days, so when she wasn't, it was a change of pace. She thought she heard high-heeled footsteps approaching her door, but she did not expect who was coming to visit her.

For the first time in a long time, Chariklo was visibly and quite obviously livid. Stomping through the various tents, giving curt nods to those who greeted her, she made an unmistakable beeline for the medical tent.
Just outside the entrance, she paused and took a deep breath before sweeping in and scanning the beds. She had a vague idea of what to look for thanks to those she was on friendly terms with within the camp. And the moment she saw the ginger haired, scarred girl, her sunset eyes lit up with vengeful fire.
She tried to avoid going into full on Princess pants mode while within the camp, but sometimes a situation called for her to assert her authority.
Like now.
With a malicious smirk gracing her features, the tattooed Eternal began stomping over to the bed, changing into Princess mode before everyone. If she was going to be left to deliver a lesson, by the gods, she was going to make sure it got to everyone.
The moment she was close enough, she let loose in a voice that would have made a drill sargent proud.
"What in the ever-loving, gay blue <********> do you think you were doing going after one of my people, you stupid ginger b***h? Do you have any idea how close you just came to completely ******** over your own side?"
Gather 'round kiddies, she thought. Class is in session.

"OH MY GOD WHAT THE <********> WHY ARE YOU ******** SCREAMING?!" That was Luca's less-than-proper rambled response to Chariklo's tirade. "Geezus," she hissed. trying to get her bearings after having that go off in her ear. She finally locked eyes with her noisy assailant, and it hit her that she was probably in some very deep s**t. "Princess Chariklo. You've got a bone to pick with me, right? Get in line." She gritted her teeth and scratched around a different bandage this time. "Right. So... which one of 'your people' has got you all fired up? I've picked on a few this month. And how did I almost '******** over' my own side?" She realized that she probably shouldn't be quite so insouciant, but she did think some clarifications were in order.

Should she or should she not... Chariklo glared down at the injured girl on the camp cot and with a snarl swung down with her fist (purposely) avoiding connecting with the brat's face by a hair and slamming it into the pillow. Then, leaning down until their faces were scant inches apart, the tall Princess hissed.
"Mistake number one, brat girl. Thinking that I have to wait in line to beat sense into your thick skull. Mistake number two, going after the people who've been doing their best to help your side on my orders, no less. They are also under orders to not draw Negaverse attention to themselves which sometimes means having to do unpleasant things to keep up appearances."
While not strictly true, hell Chariklo knew there were Dark Mirrors out there who were just as bad as the Negaverse, it was an accurate enough statement. Waiting a heartbeat, she proceeded to smile sweetly and nearly purr.
"Who do you think goes out and risks their lives to bring you supplies? Sure, some of your side does supply runs. But not all the time and sometimes not often enough. I have news for you, babycakes. Every single Dark Mirror under my command makes those supply runs every ******** day. Because it's easier for us to move around the city. Because we can get around curfews and stupid Leave Permits!"
Another beat, watching the girl's face closely, wanting to see the exact moment when realization dawned. When this dumbass really thought about it and realized that her actions might stop that sweet, sweet supply train.
"There is a treaty in place between my people and the Resistance, you ginger t**t," she continued to purr. "Mutual assistance pact. You wanted to know how little you could possibly ******** over your own side? Think about it. Think real good."
Chariklo paused for breath and pulled herself up to her full height. With her mohawk and tattoos, she knew she made a barbaric sight. Add in a pair of glossy black wings and her Princess getup and well. She knew she was an impressive sight. She was also very aware of the whispers starting up around the med tent. Patients and guards who were used to seeing her around. Used to seeing Amytis and Cruithne working themselves into exhaustion for the benefit of the injured.
In short, people who were used to the little luxuries and care that she and hers brought to them. And they would not like the one who threatened that.
"Thanks to you, I'm thinking I should go to Princess Ida and Knight Hvergelmir and tell them that I'm pulling myself and my people out of the picture here. I could, you know and be completely within my rights since the treaty includes an agreement of non-aggression against my people."
Ah, there it was. The whispers were gaining intensity and an almost palpable sense of panic and anger was swelling up against the injured senshi. Chariklo simply stood there, arms crossed, staring down and looking injured and regal. Time to see how Ginger rose to the occasion. And hopefully she wasn't completely dense. Otherwise, Chariklo couldn't be sure the girl'd be safe from being thrown out on her a**.

Luca would have let Chariklo punch her. She was feeling multiple forms of rotten even before the princess entered the room, and some feelings she was having before were now being reinforced. A punch probably would have helped shake her back to her senses in some way, and she felt like she deserved one. When Chariklo got in her face, she initially winced, but then her face went blank. It was not an apathetic sort of blankness, but rather, a tired one. If there was anything Luca was feeling recently, it was tiredness. "There's a mutual assistance pact? I was never told about it." Her voice was not dismissive, though it was a good deal flatter than it should have been. "If I had known, I would have held my fire. But... my feud with Cybele was more of a personal one than anything against the Dark Mirror in general. The other ones I attacked were hostile and came for me first." That probably would not help her case at all. She could hear the sharp murmurs from around the area, and she could tell the princess was influencing everyone against her just with her mere presence. She was becoming increasingly sure that she could expect some of her fellow senshi to dogpile her at some point after she left the hospital. She would deal with that somehow, probably by letting them beat her up till they were satisfied. Extra hospital time meant time for a little extra rest and reflection, after all. "I can't tell you what to do. If you want to pull out your people because of me, go ahead. Of course, now that I have a clearer understanding of the situation, I'd prefer if you didn't break anything off, but I can't stop you." She knew she couldn't play this all off as a misunderstanding, but that was kind of what it was. She had been too used to Dark Mirrors being the enemy for too long, so when the rules changed, she had trouble adjusting. Of course, now that the full picture of just how helpful the Dark Mirrors were being was hitting her, she wanted everything to stay like it was, but who in their right mind would get in a princess's way? "I'll issue apologies to everyone. Not just to the ones that I personally roughed up, but to the Dark Mirrors as a whole. I'll write them out, even. I'm serious. I do owe at least one person an apology for being unreasonable." Cybele had wanted to explain some things. Luca had not given her a chance and then proceeded to attack her on principle. It was just like Mintaka had said: everything was in grey, not black and white. Luca probably owed her an apology, too.

If she had not been working so hard to keep up appearances for this little dressing down, Chariklo might have given herself a concussion from the facepalm that she wanted to give in to. So instead, she kept her incredulity purely on the verbal level.
"You have ears, do you not?" Chariklo sputtered with anger. "You come here on occasion, do you not? Don't you bother to ********' listen or pay attention to anything outside of whatever little world you seem to be living in? Because I can assure you that it's been a pretty popular topic for conversation here and outside."
Also a fib. But right now, Chariklo didn't care. This girl was finally starting to think and well, Chariklo wanted to twist that knife a little deeper. Particularly on the subject of chickie here trying to be the goddamn Batman when it came to the Dark Mirrors.
"A personal grudge?" she raised the pitch of her voice to an angry shrill. "Are you goddamn shitting me? Speaking from my own considerable experience, those will get you and a lot of innocent folks stuck in the middle killed. And you have no ******** right to throw those lives away with your own. ******** me sideways, how in the sweet, holy hell have you even lasted this long being so stupid?"
She wouldn't bother addressing the "they did it first" part of the girl's statement. It wasn't worth it. Instead, she listened as the injured girl finally reach the point of fully realizing just how colossally she could have screwed everything up. Not that Chariklo would have abandoned the camp. There was too much at stake for the Dark Mirrors for her to let her own pride take control. But for everyone in the tent, it was important that they think she might. It was one more safety net. And as she listened to the girl offering apologies (written ones at that), she forced down the triumphant grin. There we go.
Now it was time to play the hurt, but benevolent Princess.
"Damn right you couldn't stop me," she growled before continuing. "As far as I'm concerned, you owe precisely three people an apology. Me, for attacking my folk without bothering to ******** listen or think, Princess Ida and Knight Hvergelmir for putting the treaty they worked on as well as this entire camp at risk. A camp, I will remind you, full of old folks, children and folks who can't run or fight if things go south. Any apologies beyond that are your own concern."
Only now did Chariklo allow some of her coldness to drop. As much fun as the dressing down had been, delivering the punishment was the icing on the cake for her.
"You will not only apologize to the three of us once you're deemed well enough to be up and about, you will be assigned a Dark Mirror to work with. That Dark Mirror will not only report directly to me on how you handle yourself with her, she is also going to be a non-combatant. So if you fail to keep her safe..."
Chariklo let the threat hang there. She'd assign Cruithne to this chick. the lavender senshi was unlikely to be ruffled by covert hostility and she was so genuinely gentle and thoughtful that there'd be no danger of Cruithne trying to needle anyone. They could make some supply runs and it would be harmless enough. Hopefully.
"Do we understand each other, twinkletits?"

Luca tried her hardest not too look too confused. She could swear she hadn't heard anything about a treaty. Had she really been that oblivious? Something had to be wrong. She winced when Chariklo raised her voice yet again; she would not contest these points. Any further protests or attempts to "defend herself" would probably just result in more justified yelling. Once Chariklo got into the terms of her punishment, she replied, "I can write the apologies here. I'll get them to you as soon as I can." She had to try not to shudder at the idea of being assigned a Dark Mirror who would watch her, but it couldn't possibly be that bad... right? There was a problem, however. "If this Dark Mirror is a noncombatant, having her follow me out on legitimate missions could put her in unnecessary danger. Will she follow me then, too?" At the very end, Luca nodded solemnly. "Yes. I understand and accept the terms of my punishment."
