As afternoon turned the sky to gold, one particular Corrupt Eternal could be found on the roof of a Downtown convenience store. Sitting cross-legged, her skirts scrunched down for some measure modesty and a plastic bag full of goodies in front of her; she looked to be in her own little heaven. One box of candy had already been opened and she would drop one into her hand, lick it off her palm, chew, swallow and then repeat the process.
Aludra had been scheduled on to a patrol and was waiting for today’s partner to arrive so they could get started. As far as she was concerned, snacks were an integral part of patrolling and the Corrupt was not about to go anywhere without first getting a sugar fix.
Lick, chew, swallow… and the box was empty. Ugh. Where was he? Twilight Jaws I hope this works okay! <3

Haumea approached the meeting place at his own pace, Chaos energy rippling through and around his body, giving his aura a distinctive flavor. He knew nothing about his assigned partner, only that she was one, who like him, had been saved. When he felt his partner's aura, he smiled slightly and jumped, landing easily on the roof.
Only to raise his eyebrows curiously as her watched her lick the last of the sugar from her hands.
"What... are you doing?"

"What are you doing?" Aludra retorted and upended the plastic bag, spilling the contents on the ground before her. "You’re late." So far she had only spared him one quick glance and was now busy sorting through her snacks, lining them up in a neat row.
"I’ve got a Twizzlers, a Cookie Crunch Bar, these extra large super sour gum balls, a Hersheys, Skittles, whatever this stuff is I can’t read Chinese but I think it’s strawberry flavour and watermelon gum."
Now she looked up properly, grinning expectantly at him. "Which one do you want?"

"Which... one do I want?" Haumea repeated, clearly taken aback. "I don't eat that stuff."
The tone of his voice seemed to indicate that it was more food in general that he avoided rather than just sweets. Chaos sustained him better than any human foods, after all. And if he could get a starseed that no one would miss... those were better than any candy. Not that this poor, silly little thing would know that.
He would have to educate her. Later.
Tilting his head, he studied the corrupted senshi, a slight, nagging sense of familiarity brushing against what was left of his mind and memories. After a moment, he shrugged, causing his cracked skin to ripple with little bursts of Chaos energy.
"I am not late. I have met you before. Once. I'm sure of it."

Aludra arched an eyebrow and then swept the pile of candy into little piles. "You can have these ones," she told him, as if he hadn't even spoken. "Wait, no, I want the Skittles." Chaos and Starseeds were all well and good but a little sweet treat now and then made everything all the better. Or perhaps it was just habit and the only form of normalcy that she could now cling to.
Her face tilted up towards him, she studied him in turn, her lips pressing together in a thin line. Aludra shook her head, hurriedly shoved all her goods back into the plastic bag and stood, one hand brushing down her skirts.
"No. There was no before. I don’t know you."
Her own aura of Chaos seemed to swell with her sudden distress and she held out a hand, as if to physically hold back the fractured memories that threatened her mind.
"We’ve never met, but you’ve probably heard of me. I’m Aludra. Now let’s get to business."

The sense of familiarity persisted, but Haumea wisely ignored it. Just as he ignored the pile of candy. At least he had her name. And it was most certainly not one he'd heard before.
Shrugging again, he gave her a small nod of his head and said in a toneless voice, "Haumea."
Getting to business was certainly his preferred course of action. Patroling with a mere corrupted senshi held none of the excitement that a hunt with his strange siblings did. At best, it was a chore to be done as efficiently as possible so it would be over sooner.
"After you, Aludra," he said, motioning for her to take the lead.

"Mmhm," she made the soft sound as she watched him, the plastic bag of candy swinging from her fingers. Despite her words Aludra made no move to actually start the patrol and was instead inspecting him, her gaze running from tip to toe. Then she sighed, loud and dramatic.
"You’re already boring. This is going to take forever."
Only then did the Eternal turn around and take a running leap, jumping easily from the roof of the store to the next. Hopefully they’d actually run into something to fight and she wouldn’t be stuck with Mr. Pink for too long.

Boring? Haumea's eyebrows nearly became lost within his hairline. A six-foot tall Ascendant was boring? He'd encountered several wildly varying viewpoints about himself and his siblings, but not once had even of them ever been boiled down to their entertainment value for a girl hopped up on sugar.
Well, he thought with just a hint of maliciousness. We'll have to remedy that.
Following after Aludra and easily keeping pace with her, he allowed his senses free reign, ever on the watch for one of the Resistance or their ridiculous supporters. And also for any sign of someone who wouldn't be missed. He was... hungry.
And he had a feeling that watching him feed would move him from boring and quite possibly into terrifying. He'd like that.

She barely paid him a glance as they began their patrol through the city and her choice of direction amounted to whatever spot looked most convenient to jump to next. Aludra was counting on her fellow, fancy Corrupt to do the actual sensing work, as she was busy trying to jump around and eat candy at the same time.
She was halfway through her packet of skittles and they’d just landed on top of top of a Pizza restaurant when she asked out of the blue, "hey, does it hurt?" Aludra indicated towards him with a wave of her hand. "You know, being all Ascended and stuff." All those cracks made it look like any good hit would knock him over.

Haumea watched as Aludra inhaled more candy. Seriously, how was she not vibrating by this point? Surely that much sugar couldn't be healthy! Shaking his head, he focused on the area surrounding them. No Order signatures and no one out being obvious in their misbehaving. Disappointing really.
When they landed on the pizza place, he was both a little surprised and greatly pleased to have been asked a question. So she wasn't as oblivious as he'd first taken her for.
"If you mean pain after Metallia has remade you, no. Pain becomes irrelevant. And only something you feel distantly if you have gone too long without feeding."
And speaking of, he'd caught a movement in the shadows of the alley directly below. Too big to be a rat or lost pet. Perhaps, some homeless person beginning to stir. Or someone out when they knew better and trying to hide.
Slinking closer to the edge of the roof, he crouched to watch intently, motioning his companion to silence. If there was prey, he didn't want it to bolt before he could get down there.

"That kinda makes you sound like a vampire," Aludra pointed out, shoving more candy down her throat with hardly a pause. She’d heard a lot of gossip about the Ascended and now here one was, with his overpowering aura and super crackly skin… though he was rather boring still.
She watched him curiously as he caught sight of potential prey, like a bird watching a cat on the hunt for some other beast. Then she too was the predator, slinking after him to the edge of the roof. Except she didn't stop like he did. She identified the vague shadow of what she thought was a human, saluted Haumea with a grin and jumped straight off the room into the alley below.
"Come out, come out!" Aludra put her hands on her hips and peered into the darkness, scanning the shadowy jumble of bins and old crates. "Don’t make me come and get you."

Grabbing after her, Haumea growled with annoyance as Aludra jumped down and began calling out. Quickly, he followed and when he got to where she stood, reached out to grab her shoulder and yank her back into line.
"Are you stupid or just a showboat?" he hissed angrily. "I told you to be quiet."
Thinking quickly, he kept one hand on her shoulder and moved to put the other over her mouth. He wanted to be able to listen and he wouldn't be able to catch tiny, identifying sounds if she was babbling like a damned brook!
"Child," he murmured, menace very clear in his tone, "if you've just cost me my meal, I may forget the rules and take you instead!"
A soft rustle alerted him and he swiveled around to catch it. To big for a rat, possibly a human. Wouldn't know for sure until he caught it. This time, he brought his mouth close to Aludra's ear and made sure that she had exact orders.
"Now, be silent! Let me hunt."
Turning away from her in complete disinterest, he began to stalk the sound. An animal would have gone still, this kept moving. Definitely human. And humans meant starseeds.
And oh, he was so very hungry...

"Eep," she squeaked when he grabbed her shoulder, mouth opening wide to protest. Any sound she was about to make was cut off when he put a hand up to smother it, her eyes going wide. Aludra didn't look the least bit cowed, instead she stared back at him rebelliously, as if contemplating screaming once he dropped his hand just to be annoying.
But she didn’t scream. She crossed her arms over her chest, the plastic bag still swinging from her grip and stared at the back of his head petulantly. It wasn't fair. It wasn't as if hunting was that hard. Where was the person going to go? They’d come out if she asked nicely and all she needed was to get close enough to use her powers.
Aludra did not plan on being left behind while he had all the fun. She abandoned her candy and hurried after the stalking Ascended, not bothering even try walking stealthily. But she didn’t speak yet, just moved annoyingly close into his personal space.

If Haumea heard the girl's noisy steps, he made no sign of it. Petulant child, he thought. And, just like all children convinced that they and only they were right. Still, other than that, she was keeping quiet.
Tilting his head to listen hard for a moment, he felt a distant amusement at the way Aludra was trying to annoy him. Personal space was meaningless as far as he was concerned. As long as she didn't try to use him as a jungle gym, he wouldn't have to smack her down. Simple as that.
Now where...? Ah! There the prey was. Motioning Aludra to be still and silent, Haumea tensed and crouched a little. Half a breath later, he was lunging for the shadows where he'd seen and heard a flicker of movement. And it was no animal that he'd been following either.
After a few moments struggle, he pulled a girl, a little younger than Aludra out into the dim light. Gripping the back of her neck, he held her a little of the ground and gave her a shake to stop the stream of panicked babbling erupting from her throat.
Turning to Aludra, he began to snap out orders.
"Go search where she was hiding for henshin pens or the like. If there're none there, you can come back and search the girl. Don't take too long though," he cautioned before adding with a touch of grim humor. "The sooner we can verify whether or not she's a rebel senshi, the sooner I can feed."

She might have been petulant, childish and still pouting, but when he spotted their prey and motioned, Aludra instantly froze on the spot. Her only movement was the slight tilt of her head, to keep a good eye on Haumea, waiting to see what he would do. Oh, she did hope it was a Senshi. That would be the best fun they could have.
She watched his lunge, tensed and ready to assist if he called for her, barely managing to hold herself still.
"You got her," the Corrupt purred out the words, looking pleased. "I could have gotten her easily too." She smiled at the girl, wide and bright, before skipping past towards the shadows. She took her time, kicking a bin out of the way with a clatter and patting her hand around in the darkness, hoping to find something good.
All she got for her effort was an empty packet of cigarettes and an old drink bottle.
"Don’t be boring," Aludra warned the girl as she walked over, ignoring the babble that had started up again (please don’t hurt me, I haven’t done anything, please let me go). She was quick and efficient in checking through her clothes, but ended up disappointed, stepping away with an uninterested, "nothing there. You can eat her or whatever."
