The other seemed pretty lost in his thoughts even after she spoke to him. It made Naevius wonder what he was thinking about? Was he wishing to go home? Ready for another battle? Thinking of his family or perhaps a girlfriend? That was pretty personal for Nae to think about, she didn't even know him! She was just being curious was all. Nae knew to keep these questions to herself though so she just smiled and nodded when he answered her.
After a short awkward moment, he introduced himself as Nkole. That name sounded familiar but she couldn't quite place it. In any case, she decided to treat him as someone important, as she tried to do with everyone so they felt appreciated, which they were especially if they were here.
"It's nice to meet you Nkole, I'm Naevius." She let her name speak for itself and waited a moment before continuing.
"It's easy to get lost in your thoughts here, isn't it? Even in the camp its quieter than at home. It's kind of uneasy at times." The quietness, or relative quietness, at night spooked her sometimes and made the hair on the back of her neck rise. And even though she was in the middle of the Oban army, she had to wonder 'what if?' This was the natives' land, they knew it better than they did. Nae mentally shook herself, that was no way to think.
"May I sit?" She asked him, gesturing to the little bit of space next to him.
