While he had two projects to juggle in life, free time, whenever he had it, was not something he decided to keep. Instead, Melvin had added on helping with Rep's bar and providing assistance to America with whatever she might need, his main focus was the bar. Sweeping, cleaning, and doing whatever handiwork that he could do without breaking something were all great ways to exhaust yourself to sleep without dreams and also mind-numbing enough to keep your mind quiet from other concerned.
Most of all, he could drink in a bar in the middle of the day without anyone finding it odd. It was a bar after all, even if it wasn't finished.
Midday, he had a bottle of his own whiskey sitting on the counter which, luckily, was finished for the most part. Melvin was working on a set of sanding off the plaster that had dried off to make a far off wall smooth again. That way it could be later painted. It was easy work with lots of dust that he could later clean up and sweep. Since it was out in the AC-less bar, he had set his jacket and sweater on the counter and only wore a plain black t-shirt underneath.

The bar was very slowly getting to the point where it would be openable, things were coming together nicely and thanks to Melvin's efforts, it was really starting to shine as well. Sometimes Rep would just stand in it and admire it, he'd never really created anything worthwhile, always taking from others or illegally taking what wasn't his. But this was his, his and rest of the island's, and he could be proud of it.
He'd even put up some of the spare mahogany from making the bar counter on the wall and emblazoned in small brass plaques were the names of the people he knew who had died - or not died, left, gone away, they'd come back - before the bar itself had been built. He would add more names to it ultimately, he was sure, but at least it would persist. Over the plaque were the words FOR AULD LANG SYNE painted meticulously in gold letting over it. While work went on, it was draped in a sheet to protect it.
Rep showed up while Melvin was working, sweeping in with the clump of boots on wood flooring and reaching the bar before he noticed he had company. "Hey." he said with a grin when he finally did spot the blonde man.

He watched at Rep came in, as it was hard not to hear anyone who came into the bar when you were alone, let alone a man who made his presence known. He smiled briefly, pushing up from his knees and feeling the soreness in his back from bending low to sand, and used the counter to heave himself up to stand. "Hey." He said, looking a bit more rougher these days, especially compared to the fresher-faced hunter who just came in.
He had been curious about the sheet before Rep even showed and had peeked under it despite wondering if it was some big reveal or surprise. It had a list of names, most he did not know, but he had seen Rin's name written with the others. It had him curious...and also concerned. He wondered what Rep meant by this list, and felt a bit uneasy with what it might be.
"Hey, um...what's with the list?" He asked as he reached for the water bottle beside his whiskey, pointing to the covered plaque.
