[[ OOC: Welcome to the Koti Kaikille Meta Plot!

Plot Information: For the last 3 months, the water levels have been dropping and there has been no rain - far past the normal dry season! The Council has asked for a search party to find the reason - this party will search both the pride and outside of it. All members and rogues are encouraged to join in the search! This ORP is open to EVERYONE.

There is a prize for this ORP! A young, infertile cheeton, seen below. He will be born shortly before the RP, and is not old enough to leave the den yet, though you may see mention of the litter. Parents are Chozi (Koti Kaikille, owned by Seaki) x Kazuki (Rogue, owned by Velveteen Angel). It will be drawn as a raffle at the end of the RP.

Each post counts as a ticket - if you don’t have a member in the pride, post: (Coalition Newbie) in red at the start of your first post!

It had taken a lot for Chozi to begin with the search party - he didn’t know when he would be back, after all, they didn’t know how far out the origin of the drought was - the very center - and how long they would have to walk to find it. He pressed his youngest children into the den, leaving them with Nanth. Her abilities as a breeding slave were enough to allow him to trust her with them for the period of time he hoped this would take.

There was a determination in his gait, and a fear in his heart for the fate of his lands. It had been his home for a long time, after all. The lithe Cheeton stopped at the borders of the land, where the search was to begin - once they got further out, they would be able to recruit more to join them in the quest to find the answer to this unending dryness.

Chozi had sent Mellas out in search of those who might be able to help, the small avian willing to aid her friend. She went into the roguelands to ask for the aid of any passing rogues, while the inside of the lands, word of mouth was utilized and spread.

He hoped the rest of a search party would come to aid the pride soon enough.

Slausale realized that she had been here a long time. Time had just seemed to pass her by since her litter with that laughing god. She wondered where he was now. The cheetah limped her way to the gathering. Bad news had been reaching her ears; a drought was plaguing the land. She feared it was her cursed bad luck again. What else could it really be? And a drought was bad for her. She couldn't move quickly at all. If the pride had to leave they'd surely leave her behind.

Of course it can always get worse. Think of a fire. Her face wrinkled. Yup that was about right in line with her bad luck. A drought followed by a fire. At least a drought gave her a tiny chance to move to a better area. The fire would move far too swiftly for her. Slausale sighed as she settled herself at the edge of a group gathering in the pride. There had been word about a search party, but she wasn't sure she would even be any help.

The elegant dancer made her way to join the search party going out to search the roguelands. She was swift and nimble; Zayul thought surely they could use someone like her. Normally the female stayed in the pride. She was a dancer and didn't have much reason to go out. This though was different. This was important. If they could find the source of the drought they could save the pride. She nodded a greeting to Chozi as she came into sight.

"I'm here to offer my help to the search party."

Tega had noticed the shrinking rain, but he had thought nothing of it. He was sure that the rains would come eventually, and every day he woke up saying 'tomorrow', and yet tomorrow never came. It was making him nervous. When he got the news of the search party, it was a simple decision to make his way to the meeting point. He was sure that he would find his partner there with him as well, because where the colony needed them, Makosa would be there.

Since the visits from his mother, Makosa had been quiet. Quieter than normal, and no matter how Tega questioned, Makosa would simply smile and wave off his concerns.

That scared him more than the rain.

"Are you alright, dear?" Sonali asked from her place above him, soaring towards the meeting spot at a slower pace, keeping near her companion.

"I'm ok," he assured, but it felt hollow.

He nodded a greeting to Chozi as they arrived. "I volunteer also," he said calmly, as Zayul had done.

It wasn't long before Tega's theory proved true and Makosa, the slightly more slender leopon, arrived on the scene, his own avian perched atop his head - squishing his mane in an awkward sprawl.

"I will assist also," he said quietly, his paws ready to put in the hard work. Council he may have been, but he would not sit idly by when there was things he could do. He glanced at his mate, and moved to stand next to him, brushing shoulders together as Sonali joined Adelai'e atop Makosa's head.

"What can we do?" He asked Chozi.

Tandotti, a new Fameli Orja, followed closely to the family that she served, though she had been off with Makosa being shown around the pride. She stood not far from the male leopons, and nervously shifted on her paws. She felt really big around some of the hybrids and other species, although she wasn't a large lion, all the cheetahs made her feel giant. It was awkward.

"I can help too," Tandotti quickly offered, though couldn't help but blurt out, "I can see really far." Wow, way to make the cheetahs feel short. She winced, "Sorry." Man, she was not doing well so far.

She was excited at being there though, because some day, and hopefully some day soon, she would give Makosa and Tega the greatest gift she could. Cubs to raise as their own. For now though, she had to try and help make sure the home they had was not about to be destroyed by drought.

Isoke had actually not been too far from the coalition when she heard about their troubles. Truthfully, the leopardess wasn't usually up for a case of charity but life recently had been rather...well...boring and she was looking for something, anything really, to do. Spending time around some others and helping their cause would keep her entertained for a little at least. So the Leopardess found herself upon the prides borders looking at a small gathering of...well, just about every type of feline she'd ever seen. "Well this should be interesting." She mused to herself.

Sauntering over to the group the leopard smiled coyly before sitting down and wrapping her tail around her paws. The tip of it beat the earth gently as if keeping tempo. "I heard you were needing assistance." She looked from one member to the other. "I had nothing else to do with my time so I'll gladly help you in your endeavor."

Slausale

Slausale sat quietly. Not willing to show her handicap in front of these others. Of all the worst luck there'd be all these healthy ones show up for the search party. She had to admit to herself that a search party wouldn't make sense if everyone was like her. The dour cheetah glanced around at those who were starting to gather. She doubted that she could really be of any help to any of them.

Zayul

Zayul smiled as another pair of hybrids joined the small group. She nodded her head in greeting. The female hoped more would show up soon. A group this small could have troubles. She gave a soft giggle as a sweet lioness showed up on the heels of the males. Her attention turned to a leopard who wandered up to the group. "Thank you for coming to offer your help!"

(I'm unclear if the two search parties are meeting in the same area or in separate areas? It sounds like the latter, but I wanted to clear that up.)

Mosi had been passing by when she had heard of their troubles, also. Not usually one to help others, she was happiest when she was barking orders but had to admit something about these lands intrigued her deeply. There were all kinds of creatures here. Lions, leopards... and creatures that she deeply suspected were something in between. She wasn't entirely sure how she felt about that but had decided she had nothing better to do. Spending some time in these lands could be interesting if nothing else, even if she would probably take orders from someone else. The black and tan wild dog glanced around and then wandered up to who she presumed was the leader and nodded. "Me too." Mosi said none too enthusiastically. She referred to offering her help, of course.

Chozi was quite pleased with the outcome - both rogue and coalition members alike - even a member of the council had shown to help. It wasn't often that any of them ventured out of the lands, in his experience. Today was important though. He cleared his throat.

"Thank you all for coming!" He spoke to the whole of the group. It could be bigger, but the area was sparse with little rain the area was producing. "We're here to find the source of the drought - there has to be some sort of explanation for this," he explained. He didn't quite know exactly what it was - there had to be a reason for this however.

"We're going to try to find the source of the drought. My family, and many others believe that something strange is happening here!" After all, the wetlands were called such for a reason. It rained for a period, and then it was dry for a period, but the dry spell had gone on for months and months into their wet season and concern was high.

"Does anyone have any suggestions?"

The main leader, or so she assumed, was a weird looking fellow indeed. He had the build and the slender gaite of a cheetah, but he had a full mane on his head that would suggest something more than just luck. She found her bi-coloured eyes focused on him as he looked around the group. Bizarre, these lands were. Something strange was happening indeed. Mosi chuckled under her breath. Intrigue had led her into a situation where she was following someone else's orders and she wasn't particularly happy with that, but it was too late to turn her back now. ,Mosi could be bossy but she wasn't rude.

"Maybe it's the sun?" She offered unhelpfully. Okay, she wasn't rude most of the time.

"That's usually what does it, just no rain for a long time. Not usually anything funnier than that. What did you suspect?" The second half of her sentence was tainted with curiousity.

Gonen happened to wonder into the area of the drought. He noticed that others were collecting and he could hear talk of a drought, this pride was suffering. He sat back on his hunches while he listened to the male who appeared to be in charge speak.

The lands were in fact dry and it sounded as if this was unusual for this area. He heard the call for help and immediately felt a need to fall into action. He could look for the cause. Though he wasn't sure how one could explain no rain. If it was a river had run dry he would have thought it was because of a damn blocking it but that didn't seem to be the case here. Sighing he looked around for someone he might be able to talk to.

Tega glanced at his mate, brows furred in concern. "If it's the sun, is there really anything we can do?" He asked, voice loud enough to carry to the entire group, not just those he stood near. "How do we fix the sun?"

He shook his head. "Maybe something is drawing up the water; a herd of preybeasts or such? Something taking the water before we could get to it?" It was a silly idea, but it was all he could think of. It just wasn't raining.

Makosa looked a bit bemused at his partner's suggestion of a herd drinking all the water. It was a bit silly but he supposed it was a valid suggestion.

"It is clear that something unusual is happening," he mused. "If it is not nature, perhaps a god has interfered? I know of no one who has offended the gods recently, but they can be a tad fickle...at times." Being the son of a god, Makosa knew very little about them but he knew enough at times. Some could be very...fussy, and if they felt offended, it didn't always end well for the mortals nearby.

Tandotti was eagerly looking around already, though she was not moving far from the group. Instead, she was nosing around the ground near the group, a look of excited curiosity on her face. She liked helping people - this was her opportunity to give back to the pride as a whole. It was all very exciting to her. Horrible circumstances, but still.

She perked up at the idea of a god. "Perhaps we could do something to appease the gods!" She suggested cheerfully. "Like a rain ceremony or something?"

"How do we fix the sun?" Mosi said to herself under her breath with a snort. Really. She rolled her eyes gently and looked to Makosa.

She wasn't entirely sure on her belief in Gods. Mosi had never seen one, nor did she have any experience with anything outside the realm of nature, so she supposed she had little reason to believe in anything else.

Glancing from Makosa to Tandotti, her eyes widened. A rain ceremony? Pft, she had not heard of such a thing. It sounded ridiculous... but, she didn't have any other suggestions. "Why don't you just go and look for some more water?" She supposed that may be the point of the group meeting, however.

Chozi rolled his shoulders in a shrug. How could they fix the sun indeed. "There has to be a solution, even if it is the sun," he said with a frown. "There hasn't been a dry spell like this for as long as I can remember." And truthfully, the thought of his home not being fixable was terrifying.

He glanced at the dog, frowning a bit. "It's been tried a bit. Water's too far in either direction to draw back here and the herds and locks have moved along with it.

"Perhaps it is a god. Perhaps we can get another to fix it?" He said, nearly desperate at the thought. "How can we call one? As you said, the Gods can be fickle..." It was a desperate situation. Of course, his ears then flicked over to the lioness.

A rain ceremony.

"That might work..." he nearly said it only to himself. A soft mumble of something. They had to try something at least.

[PS I'm ending this soon as it seems to not be getting much attention! Keep a look out for another event though c: Get in your lasts posts - make it to wordcount or w/e. I'll close this in a week for rolling and then there will be another event.]

Gonen's head bobbed back and forth as he listened to all the ideas. He got a little squeemish when someone suggested that perhaps those who lived in these lands had displeased a god in some way. Gonen was all for helping others but he didn't want to get into too much trouble if they were in a fight with one of the Gods.

As he debated leaving a smile crept onto his lips, a rain ceremony seemed fun, perhaps there would be dancing. Gonen liked dancing, that was worth sticking around for and perhaps the more souls dancing the more likely the gods would be to listen to their pleas. Gonen decided then he would stay for awhile after all helping in the rain ceremony would be helpful, and Gonen liked being helpful.

"Does anyone know how to do a rain ceremony?' he asked. He wanted to knwo the details.

Of course they had already tried it. Mosi looked at the strange leader with narrowed eyes- a bizarre mixture of a scowl and a thoughtful look.

She much preferred it when she was in charge, and could lead a group, but she had to admit she didn't have any ideas when it came to a rain ceremony.

"Well, if you don't know how to do one, we need to find someone that does." She looked around the group with a frown. If it was really the only option for the group - then let them try. Mosi hoped she hadn't offered her help to involve herself in a strange ritual. The nature of this group was beginning to grate on her a little, curiousity growing. What exactly were these creatures?
