Makani was on his way away from the village of Neued, humming to himself as he went, carrying a couple of large water buckets along with him. He had one of them under his arm, the other one balanced on his head, heading toward a nearby river. It was time for him to go and get some clear, clean water for those who needed it. It was for both the healers, so that they could clean up their patient's wounds, and for those who needed fresh drinking water. If there was one thing that he was good at doing it was gathering water for those that needed it. His magic helped in gathering the water, cleaning it, making sure there was nothing in it to make anyone ill. He gave a momentary pause, tilting his head to one side, before turning and walked forward the sound of the racing water, "Good, time to fill up." He murmured to himself, knowing full well that everyone would be happy with fresh water being brought in. It was one of those necessities that were well appreciated but at times forgotten by those who went out hunting. It was as important, if not more so, then food if you asked him.

Once he reached the river he set the two buckets down, making sure they were placed on stable ground by sliding his food across it, using his magic to flatten it out. Once they were on the ground he made a few motions with his hands, drawing the water up out of the the river, using his power to swirl it around in the air in a ring. Once he had a sufficient amount, then did the same with a ring of fire, using the fire to heat up and purify the water. All the while, as the magic swirled about, he was humming to himself. He would need to make sure that he had purified two buckets of water and then, once he had it ready, he would cool it again with his ice magic. Once that was done it would be ready for whoever needed it.

Of course after the water was prepared came the hard part which was getting the water back. It was always so heavy, he'd worry about that later though. A shame that he hadn't brought Gyuri along, he was rather good at carrying heavy things, what with all those muscles that he had. If he recalled right though Gyuri had been sent along with Borra on a walk to keep Borra out of trouble. He was a nice guy but he was a bit on the oblivious side Makani thought to himself as he worked. Best that he had Gyuri to look after him so that he didn't get lost or something.

The young fire lad had had enough of this jungle. Nkole could boast about the heat in his homeland, but this...this was something entirely different. Not only was it hot it was muggy. It left him sweating and feeling sticky and very very irritated. He had also discovered that this blasted forest had more insects that he could count, and not just the small annoying ones, but LARGE carnivorous ones that had attempted to eat his foot a couple of times when he wasn't paying attention.

If he had a mount...the mounts back home were glorious and vicious after all he wouldn't of been having these problems. Now Nkole you could say was a vain man, and having his hair cling to his face due to the humidity was beyond humiliating. Not to mention his clothing. Grumbling to himself he made sure to strangle his sister once he was able to find her. This was suppose to have been a simple search, after all it had been their plan to meet up outside of their homeland and see what spoils she had been able to acquire.

She...she didn't just ditch him...did she? The sheer idea that she had run off with all the loot was enough to make him seath. Boy was he going to yell at her when he did find her. In such a terrible mood perhaps the young fire man was being a bit obvious about his position as he fought his way through vines and a tangle of roots cursing as he did so.

"Hrm?" Looking around Makani found himself wondering what it was that he heard something tromping around nearby, something that caused him to give pause. He kind of wanted to check it out, to make sure that whatever it was that was out there wasn't dangerous... but he couldn't really stop what he was doing, not when the water was so important. Once he had the water cleared up he let the fire fizzle out before he led the water to the buckets, letting it flow into them, filling them up before he gave a sighing sound, "Phew, all done." He said, lifting an arm up to wipe his sleeve against his forehead to dry the sweat that dotted it. He turned his attention then to the sounds in the woods, head tilting, trying to get a feel for the energy of whoever or whatever was out there. If had to guess he'd say humanoid... but... at the same time he couldn't really say, not with it so far off.

Standing up right he looked around and then called out, "Ummm... Hello?" It might be someone from the village, if so he would be more then happy to get the extra help in carrying the water back to the village. At least he hoped that it was someone from the the village... the alternatives were something that he wanted to think about. So long as it wasn't a dangerous animal he supposed, having wished that he'd brought Rae along. He would have too if the Raptrix hadn't been sleeping so deeply and sweetly in a beam of sunlight that she'd found. He couldn't bring himself wake her up when she was finally sleeping. The poor pup tended to stay awake too much, thinking that she had to guard him at all hours. The sleep would be good for her he decided as he knelt down next to the water buckets.

Resting a hand on each of them he set to cooling them off with some of his ice magic, ever grateful for his various powers. It really did help out he thought to himself, rising to his feet only after the water had been cooled. Once there he made another motion with his hand, drawing a sphere of water up out of the pool, pulling it closer to him so he could take it in his hands, taking a sip of it. He held it in his water, swished it around, and then swallowed, "Alright, it tastes like it's alright." He murmured before he finished off his drink.

Was...that a voice? The man from the fire nation wasn't so sure, there were so many unfamiliar sounds with this forest that he had a hard time picking out the ones that didn't belong. Still as he moved along it didn't take him long to figure out the sounds of water, he was thirsty and hungry and water was a good step in the right direction. Moving along he almost had to back-peddle as he suddenly came upon a person with blue skin and blond hair.

Cursing himself and his lack of stealth he turned and went to double back so he could then spy on this person...only Nkole had managed to catch his foot in a twisted nest of roots but this time...oh this time he was stuck. It hurt to try and wrench it out and he couldn't help it, but his voice was getting louder and louder from frustration and pain. His ceremonial daggers even came out...although useless against a real foe it was better than nothing as he tried to saw away at the roots to free himself.

Makani tilted his head to the side, sensing someone getting closer to him. He turned toward him, "Hello." He greeted the new comer with a friendly tone of voice, tiling his head one one side, sensing something a little odd. This one, he smelled and felt different from those he was used to, meaning that he wasn't from the village that he'd staying in. Maybe he was from Tale or deeper in Jauhar? Much to his surprise though instead of giving a greeting in return the other person was suddenly... retreating? From the sounds of it though he didn't get all that far. In fact he sounded as though he was... stuck? Giving a curious sound he took a few steps forward, asking curious of the other person, "Are you alright?"

It rather sounded as though he was flailing about, making him wonder if he was... stuck? It really did make him wonder what the guy was up to. Had he startled him? Strange, he'd called out to him... had he not heard him? There was the sound of many animals and bugs making noise all around them, so maybe his voice had been swallowed up by the voice of nature? Makani supposed that it was possible. Taking a few more steps forward he listened to what the other man was doing, it sounded as though he was fighting against... vines, maybe? Or roots?

He gave a thoughtful sound before he squatted down in front of him, "Are you in need of some help?" He asked, his lips turning up in a bit of a smile. The guy sounded like he'd gotten himself stuck rather good, to the point that he was sawing away at whatever he was tangled up in, "You need only say so."

The enemy had found him when he was at his most vulnerable, his foot stuck between some roots and the dagger in hand being hardly handy with helping him out in this situation. Still with the sound of someone approaching and also speaking to him he held the dagger in plain sight of his enemy to let him know he meant business...or at least hope to intimidate him enough that he would leave him alone.

Of course..he was more confused than anything when the male asked if he needed help and was smiling at him. It put him off his guard but made him instantly suspicious.

"And why would you want to help me?" He demanded wanting to know what exactly this man had in mind. He still hadn't quite clued in that the one before him was blind, taking his odd actions as some weird tribal quirk.

Makani gave a thoughtful sound in his throat before he asked, "Why would I not help you?" Was the guy in some sort of trouble? Was he the one that had started those fires that happened a short while ago? He supposed if he had done something like that then he probably would be suspicious of anyone offering him help. If that were the case Makani found himself wondering if he should be trying to keep him in custody instead of helping him to make his escape... he really should just assume that he was bad though, maybe he was just... unfriendly? He surely didn't sound like a chatty sort what with his demanding tone of voice.

Smiling again he said, "If you would rather I can leave you where you are." He wouldn't force his help on the other man, especially since he didn't seem like he wanted the help. Maybe he was just the sort that wanted to figure things out on their own? Resting his elbows on his knees as he remained in the squatting position he said, "I don't mind waiting until you free yourself, if you like I can cover my eyes just to make sure that I don't see you flailing about in your attempts to escape." He said, giving a bit of a chuckle to himself as though he'd said something funny as he lifted one hand to cover his already fox like eyes.

It might make it easier on the other guy to flail about like a fish out of water in his attempt to escape if he didn't think that Makani was looking. Not as though he could look either way but it might make him feel better. Instead of using his eyes he instead used his magic and the energy that was swirling around the guy to get a better feel for his predicament. It just seemed as though he had gotten his foot stuck? So at least he didn't risk too much in the way of injury save for maybe a strained or sprained ankle, that was a bonus at least.

Nkole watched the strange man like a starved radaku and was just as friendly as a feral one. Confused he had to wonder if this man was insane, his people had invaded their lands, killed their people and yet he still wanted to help him? Of course then he was suggesting to just leave him where he was and the pride in him almost blurted out that he was fine with that. But was he? Honestly he was quite nervous about being stuck for who knows long with a dagger that couldn't slice through bread if it tried.

He got the sense though this one was making fun of him as he continued to speak about covering his eyes...well if he did that he could attack him. That would show him for being so condescending. Growling lowly he looked back to his twisted foot, it was really starting to ache at the weird angle it was trapped in. Trying to shift to ease the tension in his ligaments he found only a brief reprieve before the pain returned.

Should he ask for the man for help? But what it is was just a trick? Well he did have his dagger...it may not do any serious damage but it could be enough to ward off any sort of funny business.

"Alright!" Nkole stated sharply after all of the strangers comments, "I will accept your help...but if you try anything funny I won't hesitate to use this." He emphasized the dagger in his hand by thrusting it outwards so Makani could see it. Still he hadn't caught on that Makani was blind.

Use... this? Hrm, he wondered what it was that the man was threatening him with at the moment. Could really be anything he supposed but it didn't seem that big since he couldn't quite sense what it was with his magic or pick up any sorts of details about it. Giving a bit of a smile he finally said, "Let's see about getting you free then." He said, reaching out a hand toward where he could sense the other man at, letting his hand hover just above his leg, following it down along the front of it, to where his foot was all entangled. After a moment of thought he said, "A shame I don't have any magic that can get plants to follow my command. Let me think..." It took Makani a moment but suddenly he gave his fingers a snap, "Ah! I know!"

He didn't have the ability to deal with the roots themselves but he could manipulate them through the water that ran through them. Probably not as efficient as if he were able to get vines to obey him but as far as he knew there was no magic for effecting plants. Lifting his hands up he made a few motions with them, taking hold of the water in the roots, and set to carefully manipulating them, "It's not easy to doing, moving the roots of the plant by moving the water inside of them. So the moment you see your chance pull your foot free, alright? After that, if it turns out to be injured, then we can see about healing it up for you." He told the other guy, moving the roots in a slow, careful manner, not wanting to accidentally twist one the wrong way and cause the man more harm then good. While he was getting fairly good at using his magic this was a rather special case as well as a strange manner in which he was using his water spells.

The guy he was with seemed rather... grumpy, didn't he? Then again he supposed that if he got himself tangled up in the roots of a tree he likely wouldn't be in that good a mood either. It had probably put him in a foul mood and having someone like Makani show up to offer a hand probably didn't do much to make the other guy any happier. He probably would have been happier to escape without anyone realizing he'd gotten himself in such a bind. Tilting his head he asked, "How are you doing? Any chance at getting your foot back yet?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 07, 2014 10:56 am

Nkole really didn't know what to think of this man, smiling all the same his eyes like small slits on his face. It made him wary and uneasy, but did he really have any choice in the matter? The guy said he would help him all he could do was look threatening and hope he didn't pull any funny business. Of course he could always just...try and stab the guy too. Glancing to the dagger in his hands he knew that it would hardly be a clean strike... given how poorly it worked on the tree root..

Starteled even more when it was revealed the guy used magic. Great he couldn't of found a sarcastic commoner...no he had to find someone who actually wielded powers. It did work out in his advantage him getting his foot free but it made him even more on edge about the others motives.

"Why are you helping me? I expected you would try and kill me or leave me here to rot." He demanded sounding a bit childish rather than his typically cool self. Watching as the stranger manipulated the roots with his magic and pulling his foot free as soon as he was able. It was stiff and sore but it didn't seem injured.

Placing his weight down on it he flinched but after taking a quick couple steps away from Makani he flexed it and tested it more. His dagger was still raised as if he now expected Makani to attack him.

"You have freed me, I hope you are not expecting some sort of reward..."

Makani gave a slight shrug, "I can't say that I have a reason to leave you to rot." He said, before asking, "Are you going to give me a reason?" He'd rather that the guy didn't do so, he was going through all the trouble of helping him to get free of the tangle of roots that he'd gotten himself stuck in. Given the tone of the guy's voice he wondered if he was so up in arms because he was younger then Makani? Maybe he was just embarrassed over having to be saved when he was probably trying to prove himself or something along those lines? He couldn't really say, just mostly taking stabs in the dark at what it was that had the guy in such an unfriendly mood. Upon hearing him pull his foot free he gave a smile, releasing his hold on the water in the roots, letting them fall back to where they had been laying before he started to manipulate them.

"Is your foot alright" He asked before he gave a little sigh, feeling the shift in the guy's energy, able to tell that he was once more pointing something at him, "What is it exactly that you hope to accomplish pointing things at me? I promise I am not out to rob you or anything. I wouldn't have saved you first. As for a reward I can't think of anything that I really need at the moment so no, I am not expecting anything. You know you really are quite a prickly little guy aren't you? You kind of remind me of a Spitorog." Yeah, that was a perfect comparison. Something small, prickly, angry, not to mention getting into funny if precarious situations... it was a comparison that had him chuckling a bit before he started back over toward where he'd left the buckets of water.

As he reached them he asked, "Are you in need of something to drink? This water is freshly purified and cold. You can have a bit before I head out with it if you want." He offered to the little spitorog that he could still sense nearby through the other man's energy.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 13, 2014 10:11 am

The Oban man was still brandishing his dagger, although it seemed a bit on the pointless side as the other wasn't phased by its presence at all. Though is foot ached it wasn't something that would prevent him from fleeing if he needed to. Not that he wanted to flee, for he would die of embarrassment if he did such a think in front of an enemy.

Nkole took note of Makani's ability to manipulate the plants, he must of been a magic user of some sort. So he was even more dangerous than he originally had thought. He then began to talk, asking him questions like if his foot was okay, seeming actually concerned...and a bit put out by the fact he was still brandishing his weapon in front of him. Then he was being compared to....what was a spitorog? Since Makani was chuckling he could only assume it was a funny comparison and it only made him more riled.

"My foot is FINE. I don't trust you which is why I point 'things' at you." Nkole spat, watching him like a nervous predator as the magic user walked back towards his buckets of water. He was offered a drink...and he was thirsty but what if the water was poisoned?

"....If you drink some with me...I will partake in some..." He managed trying to sound a lot more dignified than he felt.

"I suppose that I am not one easily trusted, I have these rather dangerous 'fox eyes' that make people think that I am someone to fear." He said, pointing at his eyes a moment, looking as stern as he could... before he started to chuckle, making a few motions with his hands so that he could pull a couple of spheres up and out of the water, "I can assure you there is no reason to point things at me, I am pretty well harmless, just here to purify water and bring it back to the village. Nothing more, nothing less." He wasn't a warrior himself, as if anyone would trust a guy like him to fight, but he did what he could.

Sending one of the spheres forward to where the other man was standing he said, "Here, try this. I bet you have never tasted better water then the sort that I can prepare." He told the other man before lifting his own to his lips, sipping from it to show that it was in fact quite safe. He wasn't sure why the guy thought that he meant to give bad water. Maybe he was one of those people that didn't quite trust people with mixed blood? He would never understand it, people disliking others for something as simple as coloration... but given it was something that was completely lost on him in the first place maybe he was missing out on something? He couldn't really say that he was upset over that though.

"Come on, drink up! We can't stay out in the forest too long, there are a lot of dangerous things about these days you know." He encouraged the other man, moving to finish off his own sphere of water.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 13, 2014 10:45 am

Watching the sphere his gaze full of distrust the oban youth reached out to take said glob of water gingerly in hand. His other still clutching the dagger was starting to ache from how intensely he was holding the hilt, white knuckled he decided that returning it to its sheath wouldn't be...so terrible. The other knew he had it so he wouldn't try any funny business.

When Makani mentioned his looks and how others didn't trust him because of it he nodded his head slowly, yes..he supposed...though he had seen that kind of 'fox eye' expression on imperials at the court. You couldn't trust anyone these days...

The sphere of water was cool and he wasn't exactly sure how it was staying in this formation beyond the magic Makani was using. But thirsty he shifted slightly after putting the dagger away and then gathering the water to his lips. It was crisp...and clear and so refreshing. He gulped it down so eagerly he felt the heat rise to his face in embarrassment. Wiping away any excess on his lips he looked away casually,

"I've had better," Nkole stated though combing his mind he couldn't place a time he did have water that wonderful. He blamed the infernal mugginess of this place. Feeling sticky he plucked at his clothing awkwardly, wishing to have a bath...but not daring to have one with Makani so nearby.

"You mention dangers...but I have yet to see anything beyond yourself. What else is out here?"

Makani lifted a hand to smother a laugh as, after the other man gulped down the water, he proclaimed that he'd had better. He really was a prickly thing for sure, he must be a warrior for sure, it seemed all the best warriors tended to have that sort of attitude to them. Lowering his hand when he was able to get his laughter under control he said, "I will try harder for you next time then." He assured the other man, despite feeling that the water had been quite good if you asked him. So long as those in the village enjoyed it then he would be happy he thought to himself as he reached out to rest his hands on the two buckets in a thoughtful manner. He might need to use some earth manipulating magic to carry them back to the village, they were much to heavy for him to carry at the same time now.

"Hm? Oh, there are plenty of things. The local fauna, especially something called Menzuri, are quite dangerous and need to be avoided at all costs, there is someone out there setting fires around the village I'm told, and of course we need to watch out for the members of the Oban military who that are still moving about out here." He explained, making a few motions with his hands, dragging some of the earth up under the buckets, letting it twist around them to hold them steady. That should work he thought to himself, making a motion with his hands to slid them forward a bit, then nodded, "There we are."

If he took it slowly and steadily he should be able to get them back to the village without too much spilling. Turning to look over his shoulder he asked, "Are you coming along? Or are you going to continue... ahhh, whatever it is that you have been doing?" He asked in a curious manner. The other guy must have been doing something before he got himself tangle up, right? Would he continue on his way then? Or would he give up and come back to the village with Makani?
