At one point, Mintaka wondered how much longer she could continue escorting those out of town under the guise of her powered form. Being a eternal practically screamed 'COME FIND ME WITHIN YOUR WALLS, HERE I AM' and yet without her powered form, she couldn't move supplies or people from the city.
She hated and needed it. Luckily, this escort was much easier thanks to it being a newly awakened Dark mirror senshi. She felt terrible for cornering the girl but she made sure to explain all the options offered to the senshi before offering her sanctuary. Luckily, Mintaka wouldn't allow the girl to follow her blindly and even offered for her to meet one of the dark mirror princesses, Chariklo. Or any of the other DMC that talked to her.
She had fumbled through with mirror travel with the girl and ended up just taking the girl to the safe haven and returning to the city. She was exhausted, and feeling a bit weaker then usual. She needed to find a better way of helping the DMC and white court without exhausting herself so.

It was not often that Remarque travelled Destiny City without a cat to help conceal his energy signature, but tonight he didn't have the luxury. What had started off as an innocent enough evening had changed rapidly when there was a fuss outside—and upon investigating he wound up in a chase.
Which had ended in empty hands, but it didn't matter.
The trouble was gone, for now.
He had been planning on heading home, and were it not for an Order Energy signature flickering onto his radar, he would have left.
But given how many Negaverse officers were in the not-too distance area?
Remarque wondered what was so important that this Senshi needed to be powered up knowing how heavily the streets were patrolled by the Negaverse.
He didn't know if there were any mirrors in the area; it seemed they were moving every day and it was hard to keep up with where they were. So he had to walk.
It didn't take so long, and he saw the senshi much sooner than he thought. Maybe it was because he was looking, or just because he was on edge already, but he found her too easily.
"I would think the Order Senshi had learned not to wander into town while powered up," he mused as he approached. There was nothing necessarily hostile about his actions, and while he had found the senshi, from this distance he could not tell who she was. He kept a bit of a distance; he didn't want to risk getting too close to some senshi planning a kamikaze attack or something. "Your aura sticks out like a sore thumb. What are you doing out here?"Nyxtsuki Moon Too late, I am excited to RP with you too!!

It had been a couple of years since she felt this wave, and it was almost hard to place until the voice drew blue eyes up. Her body tensed, hands held out in case she needed to use her magic to escape when she got a better look.
"Hello Prince." She let her hands drop, knowing full well that her attack/distraction would probably be useless against him and laughed. Even if he was DMC, it didn't mean that he sided with order. Years could change people.
"It's been some years. I'm sorry you have to see me in such a ruffled state, I had thought it would be a little easier of a night but no such luck." She raised a brow at his mused tone, "Unfortunately, the only way I can do what I need to do is when I am powered up." She laughed, "It's a cruel price and fear to pay when you want to save people." She waited a moment. "Speaking of which, I have a newly awakened senshi of your court in a safe haven outside of town, I was going to ask Chariklo to look over her, but if you're here, perhaps you can give her some pointers instead?" Mintaka was testing Remarque just a little, The prince could easily capture her and turn her over to negaverse, if that's what he sided to do...or he could help her and help his court and light a hope that Remarque could be a ally for haven.

Remarque raised a brow, seeming to already have an interest in what she was saying. "You have a newly awakened Dark Mirror Senshi? I hope you're taking care of her. If she needs anything, you ought to tell her to go to Mirrorspace, we'll be able to take better care of her there."
While he was more likely to trust an order senshi over any other faction outside of the Dark Mirror Court, he was relatively unwilling to supply too much information from the get-go. Even if Mintaka still seemed like she was a pretty decent girl.
He didn't seem to have any interest in turning her over to the Negaverse; instead he asked, "What sort of Safe Haven do you have her in? I wasn't aware you were running anything of the sort."
Remarque did not seem surprised to hear that she had some sort of shelter, but his interest in it was obvious when he began to ask questions. He took a more relaxed position, but still seemed to keep scanning the area. "Are you well fortified, well supplied? I've heard that the Negaverse is expanding their patrol area to further outside of Destiny City. I hope you're prepared to deal with them if they get too close. I'd hate to hear that anything happened to you. Or, anyone you've placed under your protection."

"I do." She said cheery enough, "She's the reason for the power up tonight." She hesitated, "I did try to get her through but..." She mumbled something about how the girl had been terrified and she was a terrible explainer of how a DMC just went into mirrorspace. She knew mirrors were involved just not much else after that. She really should've asked Chariklo more about it.
His interest please her, and his questions relaxed her. If Remarque was an ally for her safe haven, she'd be three times blessed in the world. And to become an ally to Mintaka, she was completely honest with him.
"For those who don't want to fight and want to get along." She held up her hand, "I know. It's childish, it sounds childish but there is no better way of putting it. It's generals tired of fighting for nothing, senshi's who want to live here, children and freshly popped ones before they could be corrupted or captured. We coexist in the haven as equal beings. Everyone that comes is aware of peace treaty terms." She gnawed at her lip, "Some come as a way of getting out and it's the first step. Some of have stayed and helped others. I'm trying to build a home....for those who need new ones without asking them to purify or corrupt from what they are." She didn't like that process, as it changed people. Memories lost, new identities. It was unfair to ask someone to do that.
"We're deep in the woods, and we've got some using their magics for concealment? Light magic, not the best. We've also got former negaverse captains and generals that are actively setting up ways to direct their formers away. Supplies are hard to come by, I've laid some tree's flat to start gardens, and we have enough room for tents and to further expand the house." She frowned, "Unfortunely the house was more rundown then I thought and we're rebuilding as we can. We have running water and electricity. Heating is another problem with all the drafts." She nodded at the patrolling of further reach. "It's only a matter of time, I've prepared escape routes for the DMCs for mirror space and the others...But..." She ganwed at her lip..."But soon I'll need to figure out another way to fund or help out. my inheritance is almost at its end after three years. I'm not sure what to do.." And she really had so much she wanted to do.

Mintaka's honestly was simultaneously refreshing and concerning; the fact that she was so willing to open up might have inspired Remarque to consider her untrustworthy, but her ideals were so pure that he had a hard time thinking she could be making an effort to deceive him. But if she was this open with everyone…
He wasn't sure how long she'd last.
"It sounds like you're playing with fire. I'm surprised you've got people from all sides in this war and they haven't turned against each other. Or betrayed you."
He couldn’t stand to be in a group environment like that; it was hard enough to choose which conversations he had with which faction—but to be surrounded by people who could betray you at any moment? The DMC was the only faction he could trust, and even then there were some among him whose ideals were so far from his that he suspected they were as dangerous to him and his loved ones as any Negaverse Agent.
But…
It was good to keep your options open. If anything ever happened…if they needed to get away, to get out of Destiny City…
It would have been good to know that there was a safe place for them to go.
He didn't want to think about what might happen to Raven and his daughter if the Negaverse decided they'd had enough of his sneaking around, but he knew that you could never have too many backup plans. And if Mintaka was still alive and thriving—if she had been successfully keeping this mixed refugee camp…
"What will you do if you run out of funding?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest. "…Do you have any in your group that is financially stable enough to continue supporting after your funds run out? Right now, with as many people as you've got with you—do you have an estimate for how many you're sheltering right now? Ballpark, even?" He shrugged and continued, "What's your monthly cost of living with all those people?"

"Some have tried." Mintaka looked away, "I've had my fair share of traps and liars, and over the years, I've just gotten better with looking." She had so many precautions now, just getting someone out was an exhausting and filled with hoops to jump through.
Unlike Remarque, Mintaka's most loved ones were DMC princess, Chariklo now...and Aurostibite, a negaverse captain, a captain she was /married/ too. She was indeed...playing with fire here. But was also use to the dangers.
It was a complicated mess she was in.
"Sell my condo, ask my parents." She rubbed her face, "Take on more jobs. I'll do anything I can." She looked at him, her eyes slipping. "I'm the only one who has the money, and I've been investing whatever I can into it. I'm afraid to ask others...." She sighed, "Because it means that I am no longer providing the care. Some of the other adults have taken out savings and such to help but...resources are dwindling with the city being cut off. Money is hard to come by now...and needed to keep things running." She focused again, "We have at least 20 children, at any given time, and about 30 to 40 adults. The children sleep in the house, sharing rooms. The adults sleep outside in tents or home like set ups we could make." s**t even the garden shed was used for a home. "We're hitting 3000$ a week for, thats food and supplies for everyone, as well as clothings. Utilites are almost 500$ to 700$ a month, which wouldn't seem bad. I've been managing money fairly well, and have had extra to start on a lot of repairs with what we can. There's just..." She gnawed on her lip. "The more the war drags on, the less I'll be able to sustain. I'm almost at the end..." And she couldn't go to her planet to sponsor them. It was a damn shame.

As if Remarque wasn't sympathetic enough already, she had to bring children into the mix.
It wasn't that Remarque particularly liked children, but ever since having one of his own, they had been a decent weakness. Every time a child was mentioned, his mind immediately made him think, 'What if it was mine'?
He only slightly managed to repress a groan when his mind clicked into calculation mode.
He made more than enough to live off of. His wife was paid very well.
They were saving up in case of an emergency, but Jett's investments had paid out well—and looked like they were going to continue to do so. And that was without a successful business on the side.
"You should suck up your pride and ask for donations," he said, though realized after speaking this might be a bit harsher than he'd intended. He continued, "Regardless of where the money is coming from, you're still running the place. Still in charge of everything, making sure everyone is all right. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would love to help support your cause. People who could never do what you do, but want to play their part. I mean—if someone wanted to donate to you, what would you tell them, no? You should set something up. Make some dropoff or something. Otherwise—what, if someone wanted to help out, what should they do? Leave a trail of cans on forest and hope somebody from your camp stumbles upon it before the Negaverse gets their hands on it?"

Mintaka nodded at him.
"I should, but who should I ask?" She looked at Remarque sadly, "Not many of order accept a refugee camp like mine. I welcome everyone. Human, Negaverse, White court, Dark mirror court....? Most want to stay on one side and that's that." She rubbed her face, "But no...no you're right." Remarque had brought up points to her that were a sad truth and unavoidable.
"Leave a trail of cans...." Mintaka made a strangled sound and laughed a little. "Oh god, I would hope not. That would be terrible." She brought her hands up to her cheeks.
"I'll have to set up a charity then, under my civilian name. I'm sure I can think of something that would float under the Negaverses noses and still reach the people willing to donate." She gnawed on her lip.
"What would you do, if you were in my position?"

Remarque did not have to think long about what he would do; he had spent many nights wondering what he would do if it came down to it.
"Whatever I had to. Setting up a charity sounds like a good idea, just make sure that if you're letting anyone know that they can donate you to fund the senshi or knights that it doesn't come back to bite you in the a**. If someone uses that information—spreads your identity—you're screwed. But," he shrugged. "If I were you, I'd make as many allies as I could. You never know who has deep pockets."
And, Remarque had deep pockets.
"I am sure your little safe haven might be frowned upon by some, but I imagine you've got a number of people in there who are grateful you were willing to give them the opportunity to be safe. I'll tell you what," he said, and then began to fish through his pockets. "…I respect anyone willing to stick their neck out for a Dark Mirror Senshi. If you've got members of my Court under your care, I'll help out."
He extracted a pen and neatly folded scrap of paper; he did not often pack these, but every now and then it came in handy. He held the instruments out for Mintaka. "Give me an address for a drop-off point. I've got a few supplies I can bear to part with, maybe you can find some use for them at your camp. Better you use it than I let them rot in my basement. I can send it with a civilian, everything will be inconspicuous. Is there anything you're having a hard time getting? Let me know, I might be able to help somehow."

She looked over at him and then back to the ground. Whatever they had too. She had to start thinking that way. This wasn't just her struggle but everyones.
"Might do it based off an orphanage kind of thing, There is enough kids at Safe haven that it could work out that way. That seems terrible to say but..." She laughed awkwardly, "Anything I can do to make their lives easier there. I'll talk to more people, you're right." She laughed, "You have to be one of the wisest people I've met, why don't we talk more again?" She shook her head, "I could've learned a lot from you, I'd think."
She blinked at his offer, staring the piece of paper and pen. Slowly she took them, scribbling a drop off address that would be safe for him and safe for her. "Chariklo, You can talk to her too. She set up a dark mirror at the house for you guys to travel through." She hesitated before scribbling a second address. "This is the safe haven, if you want to drop by anytime. Hydrus, he's a dark mirror court senshi and my partner for the house is always there." She handed it back over to him, "He'll know you're okay if you wanna stop by. He runs the school for all the kids there." She nodded, "This is more then any help I was expecting Remarque. Thank you so much for this." she breathed, "The dark mirror court has really been a blessing, you guys are truly wonderful."

Remarque couldn’t help but smile at her words; he placed the addresses she had provided him in a safe, hidden pocket on his vest. These were too important to lose. "Yeah, well don't you forget that," he said, though was still smiling, even if only just a bit. "Don't think I'm not grateful that you're looking out for the Dark Mirror Court like you are for the others who need it. It says a lot about you. If you need aid, I will supply it. Not," he said firmly, "That I really want that getting around—or back to the Negaverse, especially, but…if ever you are in need of allies, I will make myself available. Any member of my Court can reach me. I'll touch base with you again soon. You, as always, are a pleasure to speak with."
So good for the Court, so good for his ego.
"So I would be delighted to chat again. You just keep yourself safe until then, all right? I don't think we can afford to lose you."

"I'm grateful that you're grateful." She laughed, "I love you guys. I'm not saying every Dark Mirror Court senshi is amazing, but you guys have done equally enough for me. I don't see you guys like that." She laughed, "You guys are people too, friends and lovers and family. Chariklo is my family just as much as her wife, or Hydrus." She breathed out. "Sorry, I just feel....silly when you praise me like that."
She nodded, "I don't even know you, who are you? Who is this kind stranger who helped me? I don't know. Like a mysterious prince in the night." She waved her hand, laughing again lightly. "Thank you so much Remarque, really. You have been more of a pleasure, and so helpful. If you need anything from me as well, well...you know where to find me now!"
She looked around, before holding her hand out for him to shake. "Until next time then?"

A smile tugged at the corners of Remarque's lips and it was hard for him not to just laugh. Mintaka might not have been a Dark Mirror Senshi but he couldn't hold that against her when she seemed like such a good person--and when she was doing so much for the Court.
"Sounds like a plan," he said, in a far better mood than he had been in earlier. "I'm sure you'll be seeing me again soon enough."
He did, after all, want to keep an eye out for her and figure out what he could do to make sure that she succeeded in her cause. They really couldn't afford to let the Negaverse gain any more ground.
Remarque took the girl's hand and gave it a firm shake before he dropped it and turned. He offered one quick wave and one more, "Take care," before he turned and set off.
